Two days before my reservation, UHaul changed the location of my cargo van pickup without my consent. The location my rental was changed to was completely out of the way from my move, so I requested my rental be moved to this Placentia location. When I arrived on Saturday (07/25/26), UHaul's systems were down so they checked us out manually. The representative did not mention anything about procedures or requirements from me as the renter. They simply handed me the keys and sent me on my way. Upon returning the vehicle, I received an unauthorized and unexplained charge on my card for fuel. As mentioned, the representative I worked with explained nothing during pickup so I was unaware I had to refuel the vehicle. I also was never given a contract that I could review until AFTER I returned the vehicle. I contacted the general manager, Gary Urrelo, and received no response. I then contacted UHaul's customer service line who told me that Gary Urrelo would be emailing me. He emailed me the next day stating that it is "standard practice" for the representatives to explain the fuel policy and that I would not be receiving a refund. I responded to Gary requesting that he check the stores cameras to verify that I was not told anything during the rental pickup. After I pointed out this fact, Gary Urrelo has refused to take ownership of his employee's gross negligence and refund me the money I am due. I have spent countless hours attempting to get UHaul to right this wrong and they refuse to provide the most basic level of customer service possible. If you need to rent a van or a truck, please don't waste your time with UHaul. Moving is stressful enough as it is. It's not worth it to deal with a company who couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. I wish I had gone with Home Depot, Budget, or Enterprise for my cargo van rental instead of UHaul.

I recently purchased 2.6 gallons of propane and was charged a $4.95 Hazardous Materials Charge. When asked the cashier responded, "this company charges a flat rate standard charge for propane refills". I have been a customer of Western Propane Services for many years. They never charged a Hazardous Materials charge for propane refills. To be clear, I didn't dispose of anything. I brought in my 20 gallon tank for a refill. I highly recommend going elsewhere as this makes the price of propane much higher than it should be. I paid $16.69 for 2.6 gallons of propane. Approximately $6.42 per gallon with their BS fee added. They are also closed on the weekends now. Go elsewhere. U-haul at 7422 Garden Grove Blvd is 1 minute away. They do not charge a Hazardous Materials fee and are competitively priced.

Inept old guy at the register has no idea how to work the register so I can pay cash and go get my gas. He messed something up so he called whoever (maybe his daughter?) to try to help him over FaceTime. I patiently waited while he kept voiding whatever he did and reenter the details to try to dispense gas at the proper stall but he kept messing up for some reason and I had to keep going back to the register to tell him the gas pump was not working. I asked for my money back at least ten times before he finally decided to give me my money back because he couldn't figure it out. This took up 40 minutes of my precious time!!! And to top it all off- he was absolutely unapologetic and kept blaming the machine and saying none of this was his fault. The inside of this Shell has a very nice and modern looking food mart with several aisles of food items, and a cooler along the back wall with various beverages. There is also a Subway sandwich shop inside. This will probably be my regular gas station from now on. PRO TIP FOR ALL SHELL GAS STATIONS: Shell is partnered with Ralphs grocery stores through the Ralphs Rewards program. For every $100 spent at Ralphs, you earn a $0.10 cent per gallon discount at Shell, up to a maximum discount of $1.00 per gallon. Most Fridays, Ralphs has a coupon in their app to get 4x fuel points for Ralphs purchases made on that day. I don't grocery shop at Ralph's, but I do buy $100 gift cards there for places I already spend money at like Amazon, Target, Starbucks, DoorDash, etc. If you buy them on Friday with the 4x coupon, that's $0.40 off per gallon for every $100 spent. The first time, I got my money back from the cashier without issue. This time, the person behind the counter first lied and said that the price was correct, and then when I pointed out the price on their sign, he refused to help and told me to call the manager the next day. When I got upset with him he laughed like he thought it was funny that he had stolen money from me. I have reported this to the Shell corporation headquarters and the county and state Departments of Weights and Measures. Hopefully they will be fined and held accountable for this criminal behavior. I would avoid these crooks at all costs.

Plus I hated driving with it full and wasn't that confident about attaching it to my grill. Then I found these guys. For less than my local store was charging for a tank exchange, they came to my house, brought the tank up the stairs and attached it. And their customer service was top notch. These guys are amazing!!
