Westair recently acquired (April) Western Propane Services on 12600 Western Ave in Garden Grove CA. New ownership / management have run this place into the ground in no time flat. I recently purchased 2.6 gallons of propane and was charged a $4.95 Hazardous Materials Charge. When asked the cashier responded, "this company charges a flat rate standard charge for propane refills". I have been a customer of Western Propane Services for many years. They never charged a Hazardous Materials charge for propane refills. To be clear, I didn't dispose of anything. I brought in my 20 gallon tank for a refill. I highly recommend going elsewhere as this makes the price of propane much higher than it should be. I paid $16.69 for 2.6 gallons of propane. Approximately $6.42 per gallon with their BS fee added. They are also closed on the weekends now. Go elsewhere. U-haul at 7422 Garden Grove Blvd is 1 minute away. They do not charge a Hazardous Materials fee and are competitively priced. read more

This place has gone downhill ever since the previous owner, Dan, aka gassydan, sold his biz to WestAir in March 2025. Prices have gone up. They now charge a $5 hazmat fee for just a regular propane tank refill which normally would cost only $11 with tax for a 3 gal refill. Now, it's a 50% price increase with the stupid fee each time just to get a small refill. Also, they're now closed on Saturdays. Time to look for a new place. read more

Their prices used to be average at best, now they're the most expensive. Sure they have that BS $5 fee that is said in other reviews is to cover their overhead (e.g., greed). This used to be an overpriced place for a dump station, but convenient if filling propane and friendly service. NOW A TOTAL RIPOFF CHARGING $35 (THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS) only to dump!!! What?!?!? I guess they don't want your business- and the new sales person wanted to argue about their PRIOR prices- for what?!?! However after dramatically increasing the cost on both items along with the reduced business hours, the new ownership has me taking my business elsewhere. Their sells rep Thomas McGinnis flat out lied to me and gave me a price that he later claimed was for commercial and not residential. He got his signing bonus that week. If it was his first day on the job, maybe, but he only has residential and commercial and he knew it would be a residential account. When I complained to the company, they just had Thomas call me and tell me that it was an honest mistake and he didn't lie to me. I told him I know he lied to me. He knew my only focus was on price in comparing it to Suburban. Their headquarters is in Lebec. They also installed a bad regulator that caused my furnace to not operate. I spent over $300 to have my furnace looked at by a couple of HVAC companies to only later find it was a faulty old regulator they rented to me and installed. The delivery drivers and maintenance crew all seem like good guys though. read more

I took my trailer to Western Propane to use the dump station. I arrived well before closing and pulled through the open gate. I was told the dump station was closed. I returned today, an hour before closing, and was told the same. A big waste of time to connect my trailer and drive over during business hours, only to be denied service. With the ownership change this business went severely downhill. Many reviews here clearly list the problems. Huge jump in prices, big cut in hours, and stopped the customer loyalty program. Pulled in with my fifth wheel to use the dump and they had the propane tanks stacked out so far that I couldn't even get my trailer close enough to access the dump. Had to ask someone to move some of the tanks so I could access the dump. I made a comment that Customer Service was not a priority of the new owner, and the guy just shrugged his shoulders and said "I guess the new owner is taking it a different direction." By reading all the recent reviews, I can see they've lost a lot of longtime customers. Don't believe the 4.7 star rating you see here on Yelp. Look carefully - since the new owners took over there's almost no good reviews. I think it's averaging about one star now. I know I'll never go back. read more

Went to dump my tanks and received a NASTY surprise. Dump fee has gone up to $35.- but it now includes fresh water tank fill. WOW! How generous! This used to be a clean, well maintained area, but no more. Gone are the gloves, the stand that held the hose, the hand soap. Trash everywhere, the wastepaper bin overflowing. I've been coming here almost 20 years, used to recommend it to my fellow RVrs. NO MORE! This place sucks. read more

I wish I had known about Western Propane sooner. Prompt, friendly service at a fair price! I stopped in to refill a couple of tanks for my trailer. Service was quick and professional. I COULD have been in-and-out in about 5 minutes, but went inside to check out their propane and RV parts and accessories. There was a nice variety of popular items, as well as some stuff you might not find so easily elsewhere. You can also get firewood AND they have a dump station! These guys are a bit out-of-the-way for me, but due to the good reviews I took my RV in to check my propane tank for a leak. They spent quite a bit of time trying to diagnose the problem. They even replaced my regulator for around $50. Given the time they spent on me, friendly the whole time, I cannot recommend their services more. I turned out not to have a leak. Stupid me forgot to turn on the switch to allow the propane to run on the inside of the RV. These people are very friendly and very helpful. I will definitely go back to them if I need any services like that again. read more

I see why they are 5 stars. Nicely run operation, the staff is friendly and the propane prices are reasonable. I noticed they have a few extra items for sale inside that would be quite the convenience if you're heading out loaded for camping. I suspect those items are probably cheaper elsewhere, but good luck finding parking at Costco with a 30ft trailer attached. They were even nice enough to give me a reusable rubber cover for the propane instead of the plastic tear off type you get on exchange tanks. From now on they're my go to location. read more

Great place to fill propane and use a dump station. Note, there is just one dump station and every time we go, there is usually at least one person ahead. The nice thing about the dump station is that they supply a hose and there is a hand wash station immediately adjacent. The service was tremendously helpful, I didn't need to go anywhere to fill or swap tanks, Andrea let me know when she was close to ensure the tanks were available, and best of all I didn't need to leave my house! It was a tremendous value since it was cheaper than the store or gas station exchange and the tanks were filled more than they would have at an exchange. Ok this is another one of them spots I have no idea how I have never given a review. I come here about six times a year and have for almost sixteen years. So I can't believe I've never paid them the shout out they deserve. This place has it all just watch the video on the site. Dump station, water Station, firewood, propane at one of the cheapest prices you will find, and they also do restaurant rentals for heaters and other items.
