We had a nice lunch of delicious southern fare at this little noontime spot. They are no longer open on Thursday for supper. The interior is old and the ambiance is of locals at older tables & chairs greeting each other in southern style hospitality. We arrived around 11 and there were several people there but as we sat and it got toward noon, the restaurant filled up and it was nearly filled when we left. The choices are not huge but everything comes out hot and fresh! The choices were hot fried chicken, hot chicken fried steak, gravy, delicious greens, lima beans, stewed tomato's, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, rolls, various desserts one being buttermilk pie which was yummy!! There were other offerings that I might have forgotten. The staff seem like wonderful people...courteous and attentive. The price is reasonable. The locals love it there and that says a lot!!! We eat at Nick's fairly often--sometimes in house--sometimes take-out. The food is always delicious, and we highly recommend.

We were visiting the area and were lucky to be there on a Thursday night for the once a week evening buffet. The actual buffet area is very small, but they kept it pretty well stocked. The collard greens, mac 'n cheese, and house hot sauce were divine. The chicken fried steak and fried chicken were good, but you have to be fast to get some. My greens are real life, a feast for the eyes and a balm for the body and soul after a day's hard labor, especially when served with a proper pone of my cracklin' cornbread. Imagine my amazement at finding, in a tiny buffet line, greens that are at least 90% equal to mine! Additionally, their creamed corn is way better than any that I've eaten anywhere else. This is my kind of place. Nick's is frequented by locals and is only open for lunch. It offers a small buffet of down home food for $8.95. The food is southern fare and outstanding. Highlights were the beans, fried chicken, banana pudding and sweet tea. Just like Grandma's (except no pickles). Go early because it fills up fast. We had lunch here today and it was wonderful! We were looking for home cooking and that's exactly we got. The icing on the cake was this: they only take cash or checks which we didn't realize until we were already inside. The owner said to us - if you'd like to go ahead and eat, you can drop the money by later or even next time you're here!! Who does that? It was southern hospitality at its very best. I'm not from the south, so it still feels like winning the lottery to me when I happen upon a southern food buffet of this caliber. From the outside, Nick's looks like it was once an auto body shop, and I drove by it once before realizing that this might be a good choice for lunch. The big black steer outside should have tipped me off. I tried quite a bit of what was offered on the buffet the day I went for lunch...fried chicken, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, collard greens, black eyed peas, biscuits and gravy...and everything was good, although I didn't care for the cornbread, which was too sweet and sticky for my taste. The menu changes daily, with at least two proteins available and more sides than you'll comfortably eat. The only problem this restaurant has is keeping up with demand, and that's a good problem to have. We were the only strangers here the day we went in, as everyone stopped by eachothers' tables to say hi and catch up, so it seems that most people in Brunswick know about this place and frequent it. Nick's is only open for a couple of hours at lunch time, so plan accordingly. read more

This is an amazing treat for lunch. Home-style cooking, and PLENTY of it. Get here early if you plan on having a seat! This place fills up FAST and consistently. Went on a Wednesday for lunch. Heard about the country fried steak and figured I'd give it a try. The buffet itself is a bit small and during busy times the turnover is fast. So that means fresh food. On a scale from one to ten I give it a six. The steak is not actually a piece of steak but kind of like a Salisbury steak breaded and deep fried. The Mac and cheese was very good as well as the greens. People are friendly and it appears to be family run. Mom and dad cooking and the the kids serving and cleaning. It's a decent place to go for a cheap buffet. The food ranges from mediocre to good. I usually go a few times a month but more for the price than the quality of the food. Most if it is straight out of a can with little or nothing done to it. The mashed potatoes are instant. The desserts are never anything great. The squash casserole is particularly good, but they only have it out one day a week, I forget which day. The fried chicken is usually good, but I have been in sometimes when it was bland. They are only open for lunch except they do have dinner on Thursdays. They are closed on weekends. read more
