I just finished lunch at Nick's Four Roses. As always, the place was busy, busy, busy! I ordered a cup of Cream of Mushroom Soup and a Philly Steak Parm Hoagie. The soup was wonderful. Chunks of freshly sliced mushrooms, minced carrots and other seasonings in a rich and creamy broth. A very good comfort soup for my taste buds. I will definitely order this again when it's on the menu. The hoagie arrived on a massive roll. For me, the bread overwhelmed the tasty filling. The combination of melted cheese, sliced steak, veggies and sauce was very good. If I decide to order this again someday, I will have to remember to eat it open-faced and skip the lid. I want to be able to taste all the goodness of the filling! The fast and friendly service today was greatly appreciated as we are always taking a chance of getting in and out of here on our lunch hour. ** I also found it heart-warming that Nick's was collecting donations to help the food bank. All the "ornament" donations are along the wall, near their beautiful Christmas tree. read more

Food is consistent. You may have trouble finding a seat in this place. Owners are very friendly. The place is pretty new, so its still clean. A couple of the waitresses are not great, but in general the staff follow the lead of the owners. Typical family dining, with quite reasonable prices, which explains the frequently full house. Expect to dine with seniors. read more

Nice cheap family restaurant. But don't le the cheap fool you. If you are looking for big portions that your kids can probably split for a low price on the south end of Port Huron, this is the place for you. We can easily order dinner for two, give our soup to the kids and split some of our dinner. With drinks for the kids we can still get stuffed on some pretty good food for under $20. The difference between a place lie this and Ted's Coney Island comes down to quakuty of food and the appearance of the restaurant itself. In both cases Nick's comes out way ahead. Little touches such as fresh veggies and garlic bread with dinner and fruit w/ breakfast add to the appeal. Make no mistake, this is not a date place. You will likely be sitting around a bunch of seniors. But for families around PH, this is my choice. Must Try's: Breakfast-Mexican Omelete: chili over egg stuffed with cheese, hot peppers and seasoned ground beef. Lunch-Pulled Pork on ciabatta bread Dinner-Shrimp Pasta. Honestly we have eaten here probably 10+ since it has opened (including today, had the Rueben, they need to add 1000 island) and I've never had a bad meal. read more

This is one of Port Hurons hidden gems for breakfast and lunch. Very inexpensive and the food is better than any other diner or Coney Island that I've been to in the state, yes even Leo's. The place is always packed but I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. The staff is always top notch. I'm heading there in a few minutes to grab breakfast. read more

Nick's is one of our favorite family eat outs. The food is always good, but the comfort comes from having the same dishes and knowing they will have what you want. The portions are hearty. You might want to go early on a weekend night they fill up quickly and you may have to wait to get a table. I would recommend breakfast. The omelets are amazing, but bring your appetite. read more

The atmosphere was nice. Went during dinner time, so there were a lot of older folks there. The food? Ehh.. I hear the breakfast is good, but that's for another time. I had the BBQ Ribs and Chicken combo which came with a small serving of veggies and my chosen potato (baked) and a small salad. The serving of veggies tasted HEAVILY of salt or some kind of seasoning. I had one single green bean and a carrot slice and I felt like I was choking down a packet of salt. The chicken was decent enough to eat, but very dry. The ribs? They looked and tasted as if they were boiled to achieve a cheap fall off the bone style and then painted with BBQ sauce. My friend couldn't even find any bones in his ribs because they were boiled to mush. Mine cracked easily and fell apart when peeling off the meat so I was forced to pick pieces of bone from the rib meat as I ate. My drink, a simple coke, tasted flat and warm. My water was colder. I'm all for going back and trying something else, but definitely not recommending the ribs whatsoever. And maybe just sticking with water, too. read more

I was in a group of Ten people around lunchtime, and everyone ordered different meals. I ordered the steak and jumbo shrimp, medium, with American fries with onions. I wish I could have afforded to tip the cook, because it was perfect in every way! To the eye, the plate looked great! Taste of each dish was perfect! Couldn't have been better. Our waitress was excellent! I'm sorry I didn't get her name as I was a guest of my group, but she was fast, friendly; and thee perfect professional! She didn't miss a thing even though the place was packed, we never lacked! She was there for us as if we were her only table, and never missed a question, or a cup refill. Plus she did it all with awesome attitude, and a smile! To quote the old saying, " The only thing that would have made it better is if it was free!" Well even though I was a guest of my group, I would have gladly paid for that any day! I will, now that I know personally about Nick's; I'll be back! read more

Only place in town to get a Monte Cristo....and it's a good one!!! Also loooove the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. Best service in town too.

The family and I travel to Port Huron about 4-5 times per year, and this is by far my favorite place to eat. The prices you can't beat and you definitely get enough food for what you pay. Meh is right. The service was good and we tipped well (considering the folks before us apparently forgot to tip before saying 'thank you' and walking away). But the food wasn't anything I found amazing. If anything, the menu is kind of incredible because the sheer diversity is staggering. American, Italian... Mexican? Greek? Meh. You get what you pay for. Go for the breakfasts! Can't fail here. Pancakes were good. I had a gyro which was good, but id go to Coney Island if I crave that again. My family has dined her many times and we have always had great food. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait (10 minutes tops). The fish is great soup is awesome but by far the Super Skillet breakfast is our all time favorite. My coffee cup is never empty. Prices are reasonable and make it easy for a family of four to have a great meal and not brake the bank. read more

This was a terrific find. I loved the food and the atmophere was great. Very good food. The wait staff was A-Plus. The owners were friendly and appreciative toward there patrons. They are the NEW GO 2 PLACE in the Port Huron area. I love the menu. They have a nice variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections that are not geared toward the fast food coney joints that PH has,more of a true family diner.I Have been here now 4 times. They actually have excellent coney dogs, if thats what you want(WAY better then Teds Coney Island or the American Grill (yuck)). They use a quality chile. Not some junky runy greasy coney sauce or cheap lower quality ingredients. I have recommended this place to several of our friends and they agree, this is worth the trip Like me, they are now customers and will continue when in Port Huron to drive past the others and dine @ Nick's. Great place, the food was amazing and the wait staff were very kind. I was reading through the other reviews and people have too high of expectations for a restaurant that is self owned by a husband and wife. They try the best they can and they do a crazy good job at it too! Everything was very clean which was definitely something I liked, me being the biggest germaphobe. :) And the wait for my food was very fast compared to other restaurants I've been to that were franchised. I chatted with the owners one day and they are very sweet! Definitely a place to check out! read more

Great Place, Always busy. Located in the Kroger South parking lot next door to Happys pizza. Food was great, Menu's had a great description and a fair price. From the time we entered to the time we left, Nicks was booked. Very surprised how clean it was for the amount of traffic. Wait staff was fast and curtious. And customers as well. Nicks four roses is absolutely delicious. It's our favorite breakfast spot. The food is awesome but the wait staff are just the best. The volume of customers must be overwhelming, but you would never know it. The make the dining experience excellent. We used to frequent Denny's, since we found Nicks we could never go back. Went there tonight with my wife for dinner. Had the Cream of Broccoli Soup, Salad, and Mushroom Swiss Burger. The soup was tasty until I took a spoonful and found an approximately 3/8" square of plastic, as vegetables might be sealed in. Waitress took it to owner who sent her back with the response that it was an uncooked piece of onion. I know the difference and I know I won't be going back or recommending their place to anyone. This place is hit or miss. Sometimes the food is fresh and delicious (although it's becoming less & less frequent nowadays), but most times it's just flavorless and bland. Sometimes the waitresses are friendly and other times it feels like they couldn't care less. Sometimes they let you make substitutions (ie: seasoned fries instead of regular fries), other times they don't. In the past we've always gotten a scoop of ice cream as the dessert that comes with the dinners, today we were told that pudding is the only dessert included. What the heck is going on?! Why can't this place have typical, basic standards that they follow, like most other restaurants. Is it that difficult to set guidelines and follow them? I was impressed all but a couple times with this place, and now that I think about it.. Those instances were quite a few years ago. We don't come here often, but why we do at all I don't know. I guess just because the location is so convenient for us. From now on, I think we'll be driving farther for better quality food & service. read more
