Brush up on your 4 for 4 knowledge (god what are they going to do w That dead weight Howard), be prepared to talk politics from both sides like a pro, get the full combo w a generous portion of bark w gravy, a pint of Lagunitas from Jeff and shut off your phone. Have an ample stack of napkins in front of the clothespin that has your tab on it, toss on some horseradish and be prepared to just enjoy one of those Bourdain moments. Yes, the sandwich is out of this world.....thinly sliced roast beef or pork that has cooked for god knows how long, simmering in whatever that is #absurdness (buy extra to go) but nicks is more than just a great simple sandwich. There's not much I can add that hasn't already been written but I'll just reiterate that Nick's has the best roast beef sandwiches in Delaware County. Their gravy fries are also excellent. The beer is cold as possible and the service is fast no matter how crowded they are. But what I really love about the place is that they do it "their way". For example, if you want cheese on your sandwich you get sharp provolone, no other type of cheese is available. And that's because that's all they serve. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. They're closed on Sundays and I applaud that also. They could easily expand the place and open on Sundays but they don't have to because they do it their way. read more

I love the broccoli rabe sandwich. We get the "combo" which means they add Provolone. They'll put roast beef juice on it if you want. Sounds tasty, but I haven't tried it. My folks had the roast beef and thought it was excellent. I wish they were open on Sundays. read more

Great food! Have never had a bad meal here. Service is solid. It's a limited menu , little atmosphere and very dim lighting though. Jukebox is killer though!!! And there's always at least two different games being broadcasted. Also, be parking can be difficult and they are sadly closed on Sunday's :-( read more

I was told about this place time and time again until I finally made it there. Truely one of the best Roast Beef sandwiches ever! The gravy is what REALLY makes it, so make sure you either have your sandwich extra dipped or have them give you a little side cup. I take my Yelp reviews very seriously, so what I am about to write is sincere... Nick's Original Roast Beef sells the tastiest roasr beef sandwiches I have ever eaten. If you have never eaten at Nick's, you are missing out on roast beef so tasty that it is almost addictive. But not only do they sell delicious roast beef, they also sell very yummy appetizers (e.g., mozarella sticks, fries, gravy fries, etc.) and a wide variety of beers and alcohol. I cannot recall how many years I have been coming to Nick's... At least 10 years... Perhaps 15-20 years? I've lived in various places throughout those years, intermittenly returning to the Philly burbs from time to time. I always return to Nick's and always live their roast beef and a cold beer or two. My wife and I recently returned to the Philly burbs after living in Harrisburg for 3.5 years. One of the first places we went to was Nick's. And once again, it was mouth-wateringly good roast beef. This place gets two stars from me only because the gravy fries were good. Their sandwiches are awful. Thick slabs of badly sliced, tough, dry meat....gross. I made the mistake of ordering their pork sandwich once and it was inedible. I tried to bite into the sandwich and couldn't even bite through because of how tough and rubbery the pork was. I don't understand why they slice the meat the way they do but it makes for a disgusting sandwich. The people raving on how good this place is are just locals who have never had anything better. You're better off going to Wawa for a sandwich. Seriously. It will at least be edible. read more

Have seen and heard about this place for some time so dropped by for dinner. Roast beef is as good as advertised. And the gravy fries are not covered with gravy but the pan drippings from the beef... Really good. My only complaint is the bun. Just not a big fan of Kaiser rolls. read more
