So delicious! I can't even quite put my finger on why it's so good, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The crust on the tray pizza isn't the usual super thick bread you get with a Sicilian Pizza ... it's just thick enough with a little crispiness. We order a pie to go, and it was ready and piping hot at the time they said it would be ready for pickup. Pizza is good, however no one wears masks inside and you can see through the window that they are within 6 feet of each other while making the food and no one has any care for community guidelines around the coronavirus pandemic. I'm not that big into Sicilian Pizza, but wow... 5/5. I ordered a well done extra cheese pizza. The pizza was perfectly cooked and the dough it not too thick, but perfectly raised and crispy. The Sauce is sweet and the main reason why this pizza is so good. You're constantly chasing the first bite which leads you to consume at least half a large pizza by yourself. It's that good. I would like to officially take back my statement that there aren't any good pizza places in Newburyport. There is, in fact, an amazing pizza place unlike anything else I have ever tried in Newburyport, you just have to know where to look. Nick's serves up interesting rectangular pizzas that are cooked for just the right amount of time. I love the mushroom pizza myself, and they always cook it so the cheese turns just a little bit browned on top (yum!). The crust is delicious and chewy. I just ate my last slice for breakfast and it's just as good cold the next morning (if you can bring yourself to save some!) I did subtract 1 star for two reasons: 1. There is no parking and you are forced to pull your car up on the sidewalk and cross your fingers that no one comes too fast down the road and sideswipes you. It's built into what appears to be more of an apartment building on the first floor, so it's easy to drive right by. 2. It is a bit pricey--I pay $12.25 for the mushroom pizza. Now, it's definitely worth that price, don't get me wrong, but I haven't paid over $10 for a pizza in a long time, so it was a bit of a surprise at first. That being said, I highly recommend Nick's for take-out. They do deliver to get around the parking situation. Coming to this pizza joint is one of the most fondest memories of my childhood. The reviews are right; the place has not changed in 50 years. The booths are stained, the jukebox is full of Chubby Checker and Lil Richard and the "Squirt" soda sign has been in the window for as long as I can remember. It is GLORIOUS. The only thing that has changed is the pizza boxes. Remember the brown rectangle cardboard boxes with the hole poked in the top to vent the steam? Be prepared to pull up, open your car door and GTFO and RUN! Is this pizza worth risking your life for? In short, yes. Screw all the new Newburyport yuppie fucks that think this pizza blows. This place is the true definition of hidden gem. Located in Newburyport, you probably wouldn't think too much of it driving by. One day however, my fiancé was reminiscing about getting pizza from here as a child growing up in Newburyport. He suggested we grab one to see if it was still as awesome as he remembered... Let's just say not only is it still as good, it's so good that we have returned multiple times in the last few months! Their pizza is amazing. They use all homemade ingredients, and the pizza is cooked in a pan, so it's square shaped. They have combo specials where you can order two pizzas with different toppings or a half and half (half cheese half pepperoni etc). We've only gotten the cheese and pepperoni combo so far, so I cannot speak on the other ones, but they do not disappoint! read more

Six years after moving to Newburyport I finally order a "tray of cheese" to go. How I lasted so long without it is a mystery, soon to be remedied by repeat orders. The sauce is sweet, the dough doesn't taste doughy, and the cheese has the right consistency. I'm really not all that picky with my pizza, and usually enjoy something different. But I found Nick's Pizza to be different in a bad way. It's rectangular pizza, and there is nothing at all wrong with rectangular pizza. But pretty much everything about the pizza was subpar: 1) The crust was the worst. It was soft and tasted like flour. 2) There was a minimal amount of cheese and it had very little flavor. 3) The sauce was probably the best part. Good in a slightly sweet way. Maybe I would have been happier with a cheese pizza, because the two specialty pizzas I got were pretty bad. The BBQ chicken was smothered in a sickly sugary, fake tasting BBQ sauce and the chicken ... I swear the chicken was straight from a can. The Hawaiian pizza wasn't much better. read more

This place is the best. My grandparents live on Plum Island and they've been getting delivery from here for years. One of the first things I do when I visit is raid their fridge for Nick's leftovers. A couple of weeks ago my grandfather had knee surgery and I wanted to send him a little care package with a Nick's gift certificate. It's 9:30 AM on a Sunday and I'm typing this review whilst counting down the remaining two hours until they open. I've likely had more pizza in my life than any other food. I've had it all around the US and I've had it in other countries. I've had the local greats (Regina, Santarpios, Frank Pepe, etc). I'm not going to tell you Nick's is better, but when I say "I want some pizza," I'm thinking about Nick's. I traditionally order a large pepperoni well done, and it's perfect. Absolutely fantastic old school pan pizza from a great local family run business. This is something we are very much into, like Santarpio's, because they simply make the best pizza. We ordered online for delivery and the pizza came 20 minutes early and piping hot. We got a large half combo (toppings on on side, cheese on the other) and everyone is happy because my husband loves pizza with toppings and I love the cheese pizza alone. The large gives you about eight generous square slices, and I was totally full after two slices. Nick's Pizza now has us as customers for life! So sad they are only open Thursday-Sunday, but once again likely the sign of a good pizza place that focuses on quality. read more
