The saltfish was really clean, and the boiled banana, yam and dumpling was cooked cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning. I also had the porridge. Someone put their foot in it. Not sure why I gave them 3 stars 2 years go. I have never set foot in the place, merely order Oxtail from them through uber eats. One of my homies put me on to their oxtail dinner. Somebody in that kitchen knows how to prepare and cook some oxtail. They simply fall off the bone, like you can suck with no teeth. I will be posting a pic next time. On Sunday November 2nd, 2025 was the best tasting oxtail from Nicky's restaurant since her father left. It was so soft and tender, the meat was falling off the bone. This is my 3rd time going to this restaurant. Today I ordered the stew chicken which was very well seasoned and delicious. I love the fact they have Gungo rice and peas, like my family makes. Many Jamaica restaurants have a well-deserved reputation of "poor customer service". I was very happy to say not this one. The two previous times I've been there, the staff was courteous, very knowledgeable, and attentive. Today was different. I felt rushed, no may I help you, she was short with me, kind of rude, and I felt as if I was intruding on her time. After I ordered, I noticed she was on her personal phone talking. Nothing wrong with passing the time away, catching up with phone calls. However, the customers should never feel like they're bothering you. I've lived in this area for years. I loved the curry goat. I went in this store to order food. The young lady in the store was assisting someone else. I waited, then she proceeded to answer the phone. One I work in the hospitality field, you place the person on hold & take care of the person in front of you. I asked if they had fish she said no. So now I'm frustrated I see the people in the back I yell exacuse me excuse me can come take my order or you don't want a customer. A guy comes & tells me don't worry about her, what do I want...She rung me up. But let me you guys something when people don't want to serve you leave. I did good with my ubereats order today. After disappointing oxtail orders in recent weeks, I decided to change restaurants. The rice was nice, fluffy, and NOT dry, making it ok without drowning it in gravy (although, I'm never against extra gravy, and you shouldn't be!). There was salad and plantain, and all in nice portions. I would definitely order again. Maybe not be lazy and actually go over there myself. I approve. Side note: sorry about my photo. I've been a customer of Nicky Jamaican restaurant for over 5 years but got the last couple of months they have been messing up with food that they serve to send in Uber eats .for the last 5 orders placed it's been burnt dried out fried chicken or other stale and not edible foods.i kept tell myself that it was the last time but still kept order.made a recent purchase only for them to collect the money and not send the items on top of that spoke to a male there don't know it's it's the boss or manager he was very rude in say saying that I might got the order n was lying.please be aware when purchasing food from them because they have made it an habit to sell stale food read more

Ordered oxtail meal with white rice. Meal came with plantains and vegetables. Oxtails were delicious. Tender and flavorful just like I like it. Tasted like some home cooked Jamaican food. Unfortunately, the customer service here is one the worst experiences I've had. I ordered through a food app and saw a high rating so thought this should go smoothly. I was sadly mistaken. I had a group order and a whole person's order was not delivered. I did my part and called the delivery man right away and he said that's what they gave him then I tried to call the Restuarant but of course their phone is disconnected. So I told the food delivery company and they refunded my money but it's the food I needed at that instant. Then this is where I lost it...the employee from the establishment calls me to tell me the Uber delivery driver has it and was supposed to come back and get it. That is not a customer issue nor my problem and out of my control. I reordered the food because the group was looking forward to eating what they ordered and the audacity of this female employee to call me "the customer" to tell me it's not their problem. One of my favorites. The menu can vary depending on availability of ingredients. Their business is mostly take-out, but they have some tables and we eat in and take out. My Jamaican friends say the food reminds them of back home. Run by nice people well like by the community. Some dishes can be spicy, some are mild, as is typical of Jamaican cuisine, but something for everybody. Highly recommended, ooh oxtail, chicken, goat,ackees, and porridge. read more

Don't let these other reviews steer you away, I travel 19 miles to get this food. This food is never hit or miss it's ALWAYS a hit. It taste like authentic Jamaican food and it always taste the same. Every time I go the staff is nice to me and I've been a customer since 2011. So don't cheat yourself treat yourself to some good food. This was one of my favorite restaurants for Carribean food, especially Jerk Chicken, their taste is above the rest. What has completely turned me off from ever going back to their establishment is customer service. It was never great to begin with, but these last couple of times the young lady behind the counter was just plain rude and treats customers like they are begging for the food they are paying for. There is no eye contact when you're ordering, if you have a question or are unsure of your order then they make eye contact but with disgust and impatience. This reflects horribly on management or the owner I would imagine. If this is something that you can handle and are okay with than you will get a good plate of food, but me personally I pass. I don't want to feel like I'm begging or inconveniencing a business by placing an order. read more

Anything after that, is a second resort if nicki's is closed. I have ordered in person and through UberEats, the food is always good! My favorite dishes are the stew chicken and stew fish. For breakfast they have great cornmeal porridge and ackee and salt fish. If you order any of those you'll be good! Before I go, I must address the customer service. To me it's not that bad ... lol. Idk if I'm impartial because I love the food so much. Or maybe because I'm accustomed to it when ordering from a Jamaican restaurant ( I'm full blood Jamaican myself). But to me, they kind of remind me of my aunts lol. Ive lived in the area for years and I used to only get the Stewed Snapper maybe 5 years ago which was always delicious. More recently, I visited there for lunch and ordered an oxtail with white rice and a sauce of Mac and cheese and plantains. So I walk in and there's a guy at the counter and he doesn't say hello or hi or how may I help you or ANYTHING ! And I'm like okkkkk, so I just say my order.. and the guy doesn't even respond to me. He literally doesn't even say "ok or no problem or coming right up". He doesn't acknowledge me at all. After I say my order, he simply gets up and goes to the back. Why do they have to play into the stereotype of rude Jamaicans????? You wanna know why??? Because the food is fuckin bomb that's why. They clearly earned that right.My oxtail was so good and tender and they gave me MAD GRAVY without me having to beg for extra gravy. So I decided to write this review in hopes that management will do something about their staff. I walked into this restaurant and was ignored for about 1 minute by both the cashier and the cook. They better both stood there did not make any eye contact nor did they say good afternoon. Finally the cashier reluctantly asked how can I help you. I decided to leave at that point because they were acting as though they were doing me a favor. I just had to write a review. The customer service in this place is at an all time LOW! Ever since the first time I came there to buy food i was hit with the typical "i hate my job" attitude that is no stranger to a jamaican restaurant and its sad!
