She is completely overrated. She's is extremely rude and insensitive. Last time I saw her was the first and the last. She doesn't put the patients interests first, she implicates her own personal beliefs. She asked me about my diet and I explained I was a vegetarian for 10+ years and now I'm not. "So you're back to eating animals?"-- I'm sorry, did I ask for your opinion? No. I was literally there for just the basic physical. To top it off she adds "oh I barely eat, I forget to eat, I eat food but I don't enjoy it." Well, sucks to be you, I didn't. fucking. ask. Is this her way of being "personal"? Trying to infer I'm fat or something because I eat meat? Piss off. So, how did I come to the conclusion that she's overrated when I've only seen her once? WHY did I even bother seeing her? Well, 1-my primary doctor left St. Joe's and went to UCI Medical and 2-my MOM would rant and rave about her. After my experience with her I took a step back and compared my mom's experience to my own with my previous physician. Awad would prescribe for ANYTHING. Side effects? ANOTHER prescription on top of that instead of looking at the whole picture. I honestly think she has deals with some pharmaceutical companies with the way she prescribes medication on medication on medication; I definitely wouldn't trust her. I can't believe no reviews for Dr. Nicole Awad. I'm glad to be the 1st! I have been a patient at St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group for almost 20 years., (back when it was Yorba Park Medical). I have seen a few different Dr's. Some before Dr. Awad was at the group and some when going to the urgent care. In my almost 20 years of seeing Dr's. at SJHMG Dr. Awad is by far my favorite. Here is why... She spends time with you when going over your reasons for the appointment. Yes, there is a wait time in the waiting room...probably around 30 minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less. However, once you get back into the room you understand that Dr. Awad gives her patients quality time. She doesn't try to diagnose you and have you out of there in 5 minutes. I never mind waiting in the waiting room because I know I will get the same amount of time that the patients before me did. I can ask every single one of my questions and have them answered honestly. If there is a question I forgot to ask or a new concern I can email her thru the patient portal on the groups website and get a response the next day. She is down to earth. I've seen Dr's who were stodgy and or pompous. Dr's that made me feel like I was in an interview and should have been wearing a suit. (you know the ones that leave you thinking why did they want to become a Dr. if they don't like dealing with the patients, lol). Dr. Awad is completely the opposite. When she is asking questions and doing an exam it's like talking to a friend. This is great because it makes it easier, as a patient, to be completely honest. She is no nonsense. She tells me like it is, even if I don't want to hear it. I'm overweight and so she lectures me about it with just the right amount of compassion so I can tell she cares and I'm not just some name on a chart. Oddly enough it's kind of like being lectured by my mother...yet we are very close in age. I guess that's a great thing. She doesn't harp on it just reminds me of how I am at risk for diabetes etc which is probably her duty as a Dr. and one that cares about her patients. I have been her patient the whole time she's been at the group. It's been alot of years. I'm not the easiest person to get along with so I have had a disagreement or 2 with her. Mostly because I'm stubborn and set in my ways. But she's not one to hold any sort of grudge and usually between the 2 of us can come up with the best course of treatment for my medical issue. Anyway, if your looking for a professional, courteous, down to earth Dr., then you should see Dr. Awad. She has the best bedside manner around. I think she still accepts new patients. I know that I'll be a patient of hers until she retires..which I hope is a long long way off! read more

Dr. Awad and her office staff deserve 5 stars! I started a new job in 2012 and was forced to find a new physician. Luckily, I found Dr. Awad. My first visit with her was for a full physical. As you can imagine, this is not comfortable for anyone, especially with a new physician. She is down to earth, funny, honest and makes going to the doctor bearable. I am probably the pickiest and most opinionated person and I really like Dr. Awad and her staff. It is easy to schedule an appointment. You're not waiting a long time. You can get your results on line quickly. The staff is professional, reliable and I am so glad I found her. I am definitely recommending Dr. Awad and her staff. If you are looking for an honest, hard working, caring physician, Dr. Awad is the physician for you. She reminds me of the way my father took care of his patients. read more

Dr. Awad is awesome! She's funny, very cool and easy to talk to. She's not exactly a full time doctor though...sometimes you might be able set up an appointment the next week, and sometimes not for a month...but she's the best doctor I've come across...so I'll only be seeing her...no matter what the wait is. I've been coming to Dr. Nicole Awad for 3 years now for my annual physicals. Thankfully you will not wait long in the waiting area. She even apologized at my first visit for there being a wait at all. This time, I just signed in and got called...I didn't even get to take a seat:P If you'll need blood work, the lab is right downstairs...so that makes it easy. Best to fast before going in...just in case. But if you do need to go back for the lab, no need to set up an appointment. Early mornings are the busiest though...this last time I was there at 1pm & only waited 5 minutes. Everything is super easy here! So glad I finally found my permanent primary care physician:D read more

Saw Laila Ayaz today (she has been my PA for years at another location) and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She is compassionate and thorough and I'm very lucky to be her patient! This was my first time at Dr. Awad's location and the entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the MA's even sat on hold (phone) for me with another office to try to get me in for a long time. This office was efficient and caring and I will be seeing Layla for years to come. I saw her for years but this last time I went in for a yearly physical, she refused to perform the physical unless I let her perform a Pap smear on me. I already have an obgyn. I have a PPO, though I doubt they'd pay for two in one year by two separate doctors. She went on to explain something about "Obama care" (she said she won't get paid unless I let her do a pap) etc, none of which applied to me since I do not use any insurance under the affordable care act. I left after taking a half day from work and getting childcare and no better off than I was before. This entire experience was confusing and ultimately a waste of my time. I found a new GP who is a lot easier to deal with. read more

I've had two appointments and first time, waited 20 min in waiting room and another 40 in room. Called for another appointment with sinus infection and they got me in two weeks later, I then waited 50 min and walked out without being seen. I don't care how good of a dr. people say she is, I'm not waiting over 50 min to be seen. My time is also valuable! read more

I am very disappointed in Dr Awad's office and the level of customer service provided. I have been a part of St. Joseph's Medical Group since 1994 and never felt pushed away and could not be provided treatment. My visit a year ago, I was checked in by a nurse and waited 1 hr. in a room. I finally opened the door to see what had happened and I received no explanation. I received no treatment that day and was charged for the appointment. Today, coming from the beach area I ran 10 min late because of accidents and traffic. I was told I could not be treated unless I wait a long time. Receptionist was sweet but the nurse just looked at me when I told her, this isn't working and I need to find another doctor. I was told that all the rooms were full and she was back to back. Now she is one less appointment today....this should certainly help her schedule. Love Assistant Tara Amini. I loved her! I have not met a doctor in years who is as down to earth, honest,caring and warm as Dr. Awad. I felt comfortable and reassured. Her staff was friendly and my wait time was considerably short. My only qualm are the hours. I wish there was some late afternoon or evening availability. Other than that, I am comfortable with the choice I made for a PCP. read more
