Next time we'll go further instead of here. We was told 20 to 25 minutes to be seated. I t was an hour and I saw 2 other groups of 2 seated who put in their name after we did. After fi ally being seated, it took about a other 30 to 50 minutes to get our food. We actually sat and watched EVERY table there get their food and eat. So far, very disappointing with this dining experience. The food was okay. Not hot at all, if I had come out any later it would of had been cold. Pancakes were crispy on the edges and that ham was tiny and was NOT the sweet ham. The red sausage was different but good. Need less to say that we never come.in to dine here on a Sunday ever again. We were literally the last table taken care of out all of the tables. Over 2 hours and we could gone on down the road to somewhere else and hopefully gotten a better dining experience. Basically, if you're a military family needing to get from point A to point B? Avert and go somewhere on a Sunday.

Cracker Barrel is what it is ... except that this one is particularly nice. I've found that they fall along the scale depending on the management and the labor force, and that's top drawer here. Our waitresses Bri and Desiree couldn't have been better. The place - Just about 3 years old, it has an updated look and feel beginning at the front door. No doubt a Cracker Barrel with the old country store look, but the displays are arranged differently, check out is at the back of the store, and the dinning area has been opened up a bit. On to the food-at this tune they're promoting the New Southern Fried Chicken -- it is excellent,as good as any other you'll find at places that say theirs is the best. *** NOTE - if you're coming from the south on 22, you will miss it if you wait to see the sign! Exit at Exit 61 and then turn right and then left, winding around to find it - a little challenging and the real estate department should get a deduct for that!

Old school burger joint at its absolute finest!…read more This place has been bookmarked for a good while now. I always seem to forget about it when I travel through New Albany or I will show up and they are closed. It took C driving me here to finally make it in. I like to make stops in NA to visit Sugarees Bakery around the corner. I wrote them a 5 star review a couple weeks ago, but the Mods pulled it because they said I knew her. I hate that. They even pulled down decade old pictures as well. I digress.... But wanted to vent. No one cares. The day we came to eat it was packed inside. They had a big flow of to go orders along with every seat at the bar filled. We got lucky and slid in right as someone was leaving. Score! They seem to know almost everyone that comes in and their normal order. Love that shit! They sell something called a "Dough Burger". It's similar to a "Slug Burger" in the fact that it has stuff in it that cuts the amount of actual meat that is in it. This was a descendant of what poor folks were eating during war times I believe. Now for me, I would rather eat all beef rather than whatever the stuff is they put in there as a substitute. It's a simple place with great burgers. I have only had a burger and fries so I cannot speak to anything else. Now that it's on the radar mentally, I will run around the menu. Inside its lime time stood still and the world did not progress past 1982. This is so great and I am so in love with the whole vibe man. Food is great, god is good, let us thank him for making hamburgers food! They are well seasoned and cooked properly. You can't order by temp, but it's gonna be a juicy burger!! You bet your ass on that!! It has a unique taste to the meat. I think I know, but need to try it again to see if I can guess the spices. Buns are soft and they use the only cheese that should come on a burger, American, of course!! Look out for more pics of delicious foods from here!! Feel free to pick me up a bacon cheeseburger if you stop by without me. '25 - 110/111

Back then the hamburger was 50 cents and we got a Coke from the cooler in the floor against the wall. It was so good. Then he helped us on the stools. We thought that was the most swanky restaurant anywhere around. To us that was the ultimate experience in food! I usually got 2 and my brother did too. Let me tell you it has not changed a bit and I am 70 years young. So that is a long time to continue to achieve excellency. I get a burger every chance I get. Although they have other things now, it just takes away from the highlight of those famous burgers. Thank you for letting me grow up with you and continue my senior years with you.

The Farmhouse: Where Breakfast Comes Home to Roost…read more If you've read my reviews before, you know I'm not a particularly hard-boiled egg to crack. I don't demand gold-plated cutlery or waiters who can sabre a champagne bottle with a flourish. Give me solid food, a smile that doesn't feel forced, and a room that looks like it's seen a vacuum this decade, and I'll be happier than a biscuit in gravy. That said, The Farmhouse didn't just meet my expectations--it pulled a full-on "Avengers Assemble" and brought them together in a satisfying, bacon-scented breakfast epic. First impressions? Think "Little House on the Prairie" meets "HGTV on a budget"--rustic charm with just enough polish to let you know someone actually tried. The tablecloths are hanging on by a thread (literally), but the space itself is clean, comfy, and as inviting as grandma's front porch. Judging by the bustling Friday morning crowd, I'd say I'm not the only one who got the memo. The service? Friendlier than your favorite aunt at a church potluck. The staff had that rare balance of attentiveness without hovering. There's a sign on the wall that reads, "Come in a stranger, leave as a friend." I half-expected them to follow it up with "You've got a friend in me," Toy Story-style. Now, onto the reason we're all here: the food. Spoiler alert--it didn't disappoint. Mom ordered the Farmhouse Southern Omelette with home fries and gave it rave reviews. She praised the bacon-to-veggie ratio like it was a fine wine pairing and declared the seasoning "just right," in her best Goldilocks impression. The home fries? House-made and heart-warming. My wife went full Southern with the Hearty Breakfast, and it did exactly what it said on the menu--hearty enough to power a tractor and delicious enough to make you consider canceling lunch. She gave special kudos to the biscuits and gravy, which she claimed were "fluffy, creamy, and possibly blessed." As for me, I went for the Big Moo--a 10-ounce ribeye with eggs and a rogue pancake that snuck onto my plate like it was auditioning for dessert. The steak was a tad undercooked but well-seasoned enough that I didn't mind. And the tater tots? Crispy, golden nuggets of joy. I'd pair them with everything if society would let me. I was so pleased, I channeled my inner Ratatouille critic and requested a word with the chef. Chef John greeted me with the kind of genuine smile that says, "Yes, I do get up at 4 a.m. to make magic happen, and no, I don't regret it." He welcomed us back like old friends--which, by the vibe of the place, we might just be now. This, dear reader, is what I imagined when I dreamed of Alabama mornings: honest food, kind people, and a sense that somewhere nearby, a rooster might actually be crowing. The Farmhouse isn't trying to reinvent breakfast--it's just doing it right. To paraphrase The Godfather: Just when I thought I was out (of room), they pulled me back in--with another bite. Bravo, Farmhouse. Never change!

Heard we had to try Ajax, the diner, not the soap. We stopped in for lunch before heading to Nashville airport to come home. The diner is about what you'd expect inside. Old, kitschy and full of decor. We sat in a booth an were greeted by a waitress promptly for drink orders. Cokes and waters. They deliver the coke in a neat Ajax cup. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Wife ordered the chicken and dumplings and step son ordered catfish. Everything arrived very quickly and everything was hot and southern deliciousness, except the corn bread. The corn bread was dry and not very good at all. Pretty sure it was yesterday's leftover bread or someone needs to pull it 5 minutes sooner from the oven. Unanimous at the table, Everton e had garb corn bread. No big deal. The chicken fried steak was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Gravy was great and the red beans and rice side was awesome. All great flavors. Wife loved the chicken and dumplings, good flavor and tender chicken. She got a side of sweet potato casserole and loved it. I had a bite and it was delicious for certain. Step son had the fried catfish, he is not a big seafood eater but he absolutely loves the catfish. I had a big piece and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. The staff was outstanding, the service was great and the food was excellent sans the cornbread. Ajax is a neat little diner in the heart of Oxford. It's a little pricey as is everything in this college town, but it was worth the visit.
