We had the burrata with marinated tomatoes, carne tartare with an egg on top, salmon/burrata crostini, and the tortino di pecorino which was basically a cheese soufle. All were excellent! I love simple places with great food - and this place is the real deal! All the food is exceptional and the atmosphere is pretty basic Italian flare. They have a very nice, affordable wine selection. The owner Matteo is thoughtful, attentive and watches like a hawk to make sure everyone is taken care and happy. Ni.Do. is charming and quaint. It's a nice alternative to the french bakery located in the Buena Vista neighborhood. There isn't much parking, so if you can walk or carpool, I recommend you do so. We went there for lunch, 4 people total. I called in advance and made reservations to make sure we could get a table at 12:30. The hostess said they weren't very busy, but took my reservation anyway. We drove up at 12:28, walked in, were greeted very warmly and they even had a reserved sign on a table for us. Very cute! The person that seated us and took our drink order was nice. But somehow mid way through the meal, she was replaced by a less friendly male server. We ordered, the soup of the day- Cauliflower soup, Burrata, Vegetarian Panini, Pasta of the day, and Calamari salad. The portions are rather generous, so you could easily share any of the dishes we ordered between two people. The stand out items from this visit were: The Burrata (rich and creamy with a hint of sweetness) and the Calamari on the Calamari salad (not rubbery of tough at all). Things they could work on: Timeliness of dishes- The friend who ordered the soup of the day also ordered the pasta of the day (pasta and veggies). The soup came out at the same time that the rest of our dishes came out. By the time we all finished our food, his main dish was still nowhere to be found. 10 minutes later, his food was still missing. Instead of owning up to the goof-up, the server said, "It is the special, it takes some time to make". Um, folks...we're talking about vegetables with pasta that wasn't home made. I cook and this dish would literally take me 15 minutes to make from start to finish. The pasta special finally came out 20 minutes after everyone else finished their meal. Friendliness of the male server- This was a Tuesday afternoon, they were not busy, and the guy just couldn't be bothered. Come on, guy. Pass it on to your friends. The charismatic busboy with the spirit of maitre d' ( Finn again) recommended the braised lamb shank...which tasted incredibly similar to the one we make at home. Came here for dinner based on the good reviews. Pretty empty, although it was pretty late. I find it weird that even though the place is empty, the waitress had to ask her boss when we requested to push 2 single tables together so we can have more room. Otherwise, the service was fine. Anyway, we ordered the specials that night: fillet mignon and lobster ravioli. I really don't understand the high ratings. The steak would have been good if only it didn't have so much fibrous tissues, making it impossible to cut and enjoy small bites. The lobster ravioli was room temperature and barely contain lobster! The appetizer was probably the best dish and the only one we really enjoyed, which was the prosciutto with buttata cheese. I stumbled-upon this place a few weeks back during a night that my hubby and I decided to explore a little more of the upper east side. We were looking for something very low-key and quiet and this place completely fit the bill. We stopped in and were seated promptly at a little table on the outside patio. Very impressed by the fast service considering it was Friday night during dinner time. The restaurant's Yelp page boasted great reviews so we were already quite aware of the menu and what we could expect. We also took advantage of the check-in offer for a free glass of wine for both of us! We always love the little details. The gnocchi was delicious although the sauce was very mild and not as flavorful as I would've liked -- I added some salt/pepper/olive oil and it was perfect. My first impression of NiDo is half good and half bad. In a nutshell, the food is very good, but the service needs improving. We all go to restaurants for one main reason: to eat. We want tasty food and a lot of it! NiDo's food is definitely tasty, and entrees are nicely portioned. The appetizers, however, lack. As NiDo touts to be a "Mozzarella Bar," we ordered one of their mozzarella appetizers for the table. From the menu, we selected the type of mozzarella which is known to be creamier in the center, and firm on the outside. When the dish arrived to our table, it seemed like one small ball of mozzarella had been sliced into 4 even smaller pieces. There was no difference in texture between the outside and inside of the mozzarella. Although the tomato and mixed peppers really helped elevate the dish to something enjoyable to eat, it absolutely failed to meet my expectations, and failed to be exactly what the menu described it to be. For a table of three, 4 slivers of mozzarella were not enough. This was the BIGGEST let down in going to the restaurant for the first time. The service is a bit slow. I had to constantly remind the wait staff to refill our water glasses and break basket. In fact, unless I flagged down a waiter (or bus boy), nobody ever came to our table. Don't get me wrong, when wait staff did come to our table, they were nice and expedient in registering our requests. But even still, their personable demeanors did not make up for the babysitting responsibility I unexpectedly took on while dining. The wine was AMAZING. The entrees were DELICIOUS. Although, they could have been warmer. When my gnocchi arrived, it was not hot as though it were just prepared. The gnocchi stuck together with the melted-down and then cooled-down mozzarella chunks, which took away from its anticipated luxurious mouthfeel. I'd give the dish a 6 out of 10. My girlfriend has the seafood risotto, which was the best dish on the table! Unfortunately, it too was cold. For that reason, I'd give the dish an 8 out of 10. The ambiance was GREAT! NiDo combines a contemporary dining room with an old-world sort of feel. Relaxing and inviting. I personally wouldn't chose to go back, or suggest the restaurant to others. But, if a friend asked me to go, I wouldn't say no. read more

Amazing lil place in busy Miami! If you blink you will miss out on one of the best true Italian places in the area. I had the seafood pasta with red sauce and a medley of clams, mussels, calamari, scallops and shrimp.... So TASTY indeed!!! My friend had the French toast since they offer brunch till 3p on BOTH Sat and Sun, that's a bonus in my book! The French toast was ridiculously delicious. The toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and on top were slices of various fruit, fresh chantilly cream and a mini jar of syrup on the side. I got a Sauvignon Blanc to pair with the appetizer, crudo di tonno, beautiful presentation and the combination of flavors was like no other I have tried before! Simply delicious After, I ordered tagliolini al tartufo nero (perigord) which is pasta with butter sauce and fresh shaved truffle. The aroma and the flavor were delightful!! If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant I honestly recommend this place, great ambiance and delicious food! A must if you are in Miami! (Report from 7/21/19 visit) I was in the mood for Italian food so we went to NiDo Caffe (Biscayne/73 St). We've been coming to this restaurant for about ten years and the food is always good. NiDo is a casual Italian restaurant with a certain uncomplicated charm. It's wall are decorated with wine shelves, a wall-to-wall abstract painting, menu board, etc. We were met at the door by the very capable manager Nicolas who escorted us to our table. After a few minutes he came by to take our drink order and told us about all the delicious specials. With so many delightful choices it was difficult to decide on what to order, but Lourdes and I went for the Spaghetti with spinach pesto and Alfredo sauce. This dish was "to die for" and took us to culinary heaven...that good! Our friend Yoyi ordered an amazing Osso Buco and Ruben had an spectacular Fungi Risotto. For dessert we had a delicious almond tart with vanilla ice cream. We also had Expresso coffee. read more

One word: Perfection. It's very rare to find a restaurant that conjugates so many qualities in one. Believe it or not, Ni.Do stole my heart. Small, intimate, romantic (if you are in the mood), and the food, simply delicious. To have an idea of the flavors, just imagine that an Italian "Nona" invited you to have dinner at her home. From Drago, our friendly and attentive waiter, to the fact that one the servers just spoke Italian, and my friend was "feeling at home" parlando italiano. I had the seafood risotto and my friend gluten free seafood pasta. Both cooked to perfection, Grazie Chef Luca! At the end of the night, Drago showed up with dessert, on the house, and we were like really??? I'm happy to see that one year later, Mateo and Luca are doing so well. I hope the owner of this place reads this review as I have one minor request which I hope will change diner's experiences for the better. Your bread is fresh and delicious. The olive oil is of good quality. The homemade mushroom ravioli was excellent.But here is the thing: you buy your Caesar salad dressing from Sysco or wherever. It's pretty gross and you taste no anchovy whatsoever. It's almost like you mixed my salad with mayo and you threw some croutons and parm on top. Please change the dressing to a fresh dressing. Why go out of your way to have fresh cheese, pasta and bread only to have a Wishbone quality bottled dressing? End rant.... This is a great addition to the UES. I went there for lunch last week. If you are the type of person that likes the taste of processed foods loaded with chemicals and preservatives and you prefer to eat food from a jar, can or box...then you will love this place. However, if you believe that food should be made from fresh QUALITY ingredients THEN YOU WILL HATE THIS PLACE as did I. When will Miami restaurant owners stop choosing profit over passion. Unfortunately, many of our dreaded restauranteurs have not learned that quality (although) it costs more will equate to profit because people will actually keep coming back. Why be in this business if you do not have a passion for the food you are creating? As I write this review I still have the horrible taste of chemicals from all the cheap artificial ingredients they use in their food! 2.5 Sorry fellow yelpers i do not agree....i came here pretty excited to try a hole in the wall type Italian restaurant. In the restaurants defense, my review is as a vegetarian diner: Ambiance, decor, coziness and overall environment was excellent. Buffalo mozzarella app. was great but it all went downhill from there. When i walked in, i really thought this place was absolutely adorable, the kind of place for a first date. My partner and crime and i ordered a glass of prosecco and the buffalo mozzarella appetizer that came with yummy sides: pickled veggies, olive tapanade and a tomato bruscetta (1 piece) that was crunch and delicious. The bread at the table was also yummy. As a vegetarian we had two choices- the gnocchi in our choice of pomodoro, pesto or bechemel sauce or handmade parpadelle pasta with a porchini mushroom sauce. Neither of us enjoyed our entrees (Sorry Johnny T. and Kristen) I honestly felt mislead by the other reviews. Maybe their meat dishes are better? they looked good. But based on the reviews my pasta dishes should have been better with or without meat. And yes the bread and appetizer was delicious but i purposely left room for the main event and i barley touched it. the pasta did taste home made but i did not like the mushrooms- maybe they weren't seasoned enough, but something was off. The gnocchi was ok. it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. the dessert- chocolate mousse aka the flour less cake at this restaurant was nothing to brag about. We went to this place with high expectations based not only on their great reviews, but also on an article called "the 10 best restaurants to go during Miami Spice". The place is small, with a nice decor inside, nice ambiance indoor; the outdoor patio, is okay, nothing special. The service was good. So let's start with the food: the plates for the miami spice menu are sooo small and simple; we ordered a couple of appetizers - burratta and bresaola- that you can easily prepare at home at half the price; the presentation, the size of the portions, everything was just average. And the entrees... what a disappointment: a chicken paillard that was nothing but just a small piece of chicken with some veggies and potatoes on the side; and the fig ravioli was so small, you can easily have 2 plates and still be hungry. The options for desserts were ice cream - yes, a scoop of ice cream- and a tiny tiramisu, which was just mediocre; A very disappointing experience which left no desire for us to come back to this restaurant. For us, Miami Spice is an opportunity to try new places and their signature dishes, and put them on our list of places to go and spread the word with friends. I can not rave enough about this charming little Italian restaurant that seems to have been plucked right off the cobblestoned back streets of Rome. This MiMo caffe has a casual, laid back & easy feel with touches of freshly potted herbs & butcher paper atop the wooden tables. My husband & I consider NiDo one of our favorite restaurants with consistently delicious fresh food, great service, great atmosphere & decent prices. We frequent NiDo for weekend brunch. I usually order the Terra which comes with roasted rosemary breakfast potatoes, Italian sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs & a side salad. Pair that with a steaming latte served in a large Mason glass & your day has just begun on the perfect note. I have also brought my family here much to their enjoyment. Dinner is equally delicious with their homemade pastas & mozzarellas. We live nearby but NiDo is worth the trip for sure. read more

Very traditional decor, from the walls to the chairs and tables. They have a BEAUTIFUL patio for outdoor seating, with warm lighting, perfect for a date night. The Chefs are incredible, and have a special menu every week. I tried the Tagliere Misto, a variation of traditional hams and cheeses, as well as the Tartare di Tonno which was amazing. We went to lunch with my sister and I liked it. We sat outside on the cute little patio. We both got the mozzarella buffala with proscuitto. It was good and had enough meat. However I could have used a little bit more mozzarella. The bread was fresh and warm. For dessert each had tiramisu and it was very good. The service was ok, very slow because they even forgot our desserts. However our waiter was nice and took off one of the tiramisus. Check-in yelp got us 10% off the bill. Spending just a few days in Miami and an Uber driver suggested this restaurant for an authentic Italian dinner. It was outstanding. Simple and fresh ingredients. I had the veal marsala and my husband had a pasta dish tossed with an amazing combo of sausage and finely chopped veggies. It was so good we went back again--breaking one of my cardinal rules of traveling! I went for a seafood combo and my husband had the carbonara which is tossed in a giant cheese wheel. Just outstanding. Nice wine selection and fantastic service from our waiter both nights, Fabio. And then there was the Tiramasu...So good. The restaurant is small and we ate on the quaint patio. So my friend and I decided to go here after a long day of cleaning and boy, was it worth it! I ordered a Spaghetti Alle Vongole and she ordered a Pasta Ripiena. The food was downright delicious. The outdoor sitting is quaint and nicely cutoff from the road and the noise of the city, thanks to the beautiful landscaping. The spaghetti was flavourful without (thankfully) an overpowering aroma of clams. They were done just the right amount and were freshly caught! An extra dash of Parmesan and pepper made it absolutely perfect for me. The Pasta Ripiena was, in contrast, rich and heavily layered with flavours of bacon, cheese and pesto (yes, the best kind of comfort food in the world!) It's definitely not what one would expect to find on the corner of a small strip mall on Biscayne Blvd. The Sangiovese wine on their "by the glass" offerings is perfection. Burratta, Meatball stuffed with fresh mozzarella, the Branzino, and the Paccheri Pasta were all hits!!! I can't wait to go back! read more
