The main dentist here is a real joke he stands around insulting people pretty rude. Then they will tell you your insurance covers everything but they end up charging me double in cash and kept trying to get more. I been to other dentist that say he was wrong to charge me that cash. The quality of the dentures was very bad for $3,000 I expect better. But giving them 2 stars cause the dental assistance are very good caring and take their time. My wife and I stopped going here about a year and a half ago to 2 years ago due to the heavy sales tactics of the team here. After they have your number they call and call and call and he can't get off their list. They also oversell you on procedures that may not be necessary. Once you get to the front after a cleaning they will pressure you into trying to get additional things done. I had several teeth that they said need a crowns and some crowns they said were old and we're going to disintegrate soon. They wanted to schedule immediate work. I went and got a second opinion from another dentist who said that none of it was necessary. I have not gone back since. I never share negative reviews, but this one I can t ignore. I have come to NOD since it did not have bad reviews and seemed to be reasonable priced compared to other dentists. I came to them for 2 implants approx. 2 years ago. The first doctor screwed up my sinus lift and pierced it. I could feel him pushing on it but could not stop him and it was too late. I had to get sown up and wait 6 months. Came back for another sinus lift with another doctor. Again a whole painful intervention. He managed to do the sinus lift and put the 2 screws into the bone. When I came back they found out that 1 screw was not holding. Had to remove it and sow it all up again. Fortunately one of the screws remained in place and we could proceed with the implant. Had to wait again months to have it all heal. They told me the screw that came loose was due to me licking the area. I was never told not to touch the area with my tongue. Only giving me this advise after it's too late definitively did not help me. I had decided to skip trying to go for this 2nd implant and stick to what I had. For the record they gave me for all the pain and discomfort, lost time, etc...a $400 credit. To me this was their first gesture that kept me returning to finish the job. It took more them 9 months to finish the job. Today was the last episode. A third doctor finished the crown and I honestly hope this will now hold in place. Based on what they had me go Through I was expecting a gesture from the management for all the aggravation, lost time and pain I went through, but no apology or discount was provided. They said they had done their gesture and that I had to pay the balances for the crown. I told them that their dental practice has been my worst lifetime dental experience and asked them politely never to contact me again. I am definitely not sorry for the management of this kind of reviews affects their business, but I do feel for the friendly staff. read more

The Pros: it has very luxurious surroundings, with free snacks and drinks, they don't overbook so they see you at the appt. time, male hygienist was very kind and a flat screen TV to watch while they are doing dental work! One of the reasons I went there, was I went there years ago and remembered all the free snacks and drinks, they had just opened and because I was going to go afterwards to a Lomita Chamber Mixer brought some of their flyers but I was reminded when I read some of the other reviews why I didn't go back,. The Cons: I had read what some other people had said about them stating that they were told they needed other work and I remembered them writing a treatment plan that was over 10K dollars a decade ago and I went to a South Bay Family Healthcare Center (fancy name for free clinic) and dentist there said I did NOT need many of the things they recommended (in fact I got a very expensive sonic toothbrush because of how bad they said my teeth were.) They also seem to change dentists frequently, the two staff members were new and didn't know how long the dentists were there, one at least a year, others newer. The dentists all work there part time, could be due to the long hours they are open, to make it convenient for working people so they have to have more to be able to stagger hours ( maybe new grads, not a bad thing as they remember their training and learn innovative techniques) but if you want one continuous dentist you may not get one here, sort of like a chain (but I don't think it is) like Western Dental but much, much better! The prices are high, even with the Medi-Cal discount, at W.D. which also takes Denti-Cal regular prices seem much lower so then their Denti-Cal prices were lower (but everyone HATED W.D. as I did,) and people like me liked it here. So if have Denti-Cal and don't need a lot of expensive work, just cleanings, extractions and fillings I would DEFINITELY go here, you won't find a nicer office that takes D-C (could be they now take Denti-Cal as location is a low rent district) or if you have VERY good insurance but I might just get a second opinion if I am advised to get a lot of work. read more

The entire Night Owl staff is incredibly friendly. Dentists Dr.Jo and Dr. Charlotte are warm, thorough, and competent. The facilities are fancy. The female staff are all good-looking, but the males only so-so. I was truly moved by my diagnostic intake by Luisa. She took her time, really questioned and listened, and did not hide herself. Things like that almost never happen in such contexts. On the down side, their dental prize box is not very impressive, and even worse is that they do not allow adults to choose from it -- and that hurts (hurts bad). Also, in the lobby they have free snacks, but they surprisingly are not ""teeth friendly," -- like you'd expect from people promoting healthy dentition, right? The snack box is filled with cavity inviting junk food. I swear that they are handing out Moon Pies there! So it's a little like a drug dealer trying to get you hooked. I feel bad to have to write this review, but here we go. The first time I went here, the hygienist was a bit over the top about my teeth. He kept telling me I had bad gums, lots of issues and will need a lot of cavity fillings soon and we could take care of them before they turn into cavities. I said no. I told him I was only there for a cleaning. I did not see one cavity on the x-rays taken (I work in medical/dental malpractice, they did not know this). I also have never had a cavity in my life and every dentist has always praised me for my dental habits. I then returned 6 months later for another cleaning. This time, my mother had just suffered a heart attack and I was in a very vulnerable place. When she was going over my teeth, I could read the screen in the background and realized the last hygienist had wrote negatively about me not wanting the fillings, etc., at the last visit. This then turned this visit into a shit show. Since my insurance was not up for x-rays, they took photos of my teeth pre-cleaning and told me I had 8 cavities. How do you diagnose a cavity without a proper x-ray? I did have significant staining (I am an avid coffee drinker). They then did my cleaning and the entire time they kept talking about how horrible my gums were, my teeth were in bad shape, and all the cavities they needed to fill. They also kept asking me if I had some sort of "lifestyle change" that led to all of this. Are they trying to say they think I am doing meth or something? It was a really embarassing experience. I of course knew better and decided to seek a second opinion. There is no way in 35 years do I go from having ZERO cavities to all of a sudden EIGHT of them. I have now been to another dentist for a second opinion. I paid to have FULL x-rays done. The dentist said my teeth were in perfect condition (other than grinding my teeth!) and I practice great oral hygiene. I in fact, did not have one cavity. This type of place really hurts my heart. People are probably spending so much money on cavity fillings and other unnecessary procedures not realizing they dont actually need it. These people need to understand it may be $1,000 in profit for them to place fillings on your teeth, but its a lifetime of teeth issues for the person you're doing this to. Shame on you. Shame on all of you. If you decide to come here, the basic cleanings are great but seek a second opinion for everything else. read more

There really are no words. I picked this place because my mother is 91, and she speaks Tagalog and Ilocano. And while she can speak English, I just needed her to be comfortable. She has what they call "white coat" high blood pressure. Her BP is managed medically, but she REALLY REALLY REALLY does not like the dentist. Hence, every visit, her BP was soaring. Night Owl Dental went a long way to make sure my mother was relaxed. She needed a lot of work, because she never got regular care before she came to live with me. I love the staff so much. They reach out to me after hours, on their days off, to inquire about my mom. This is above and beyond. I am so grateful on my mother's behalf. She loves the staff who joke with her in Tagalog. And she loves that they indulge her ridiculousness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

Be warned get a 2nd opinion!! I found an ad in the South Bay magazine and the thought it was a good idea to schedule an appt for my kids and myself later since they had flexible hours. I had went to my family dentist but thought I'd try this place since they open weekends too. Bad idea. It was only 2 weeks ago my kids went to get their teeth cleaned at our family dentist and only wanted to sealants onto kids teeth which is covered in the insurance. Guess they couldn't pass up to find ways to charge. They had come out needing 6 fillings between them when our dentist already gave them a check up. 1 star for snacks and drinks for clients. Nice modern facility but that all costs to up keep. I will stick to my family dentist without the free snacks and modern facility . read more

Credit where it's due! I went searching for a better dentist after some nightmare visits at my old one (see other dentist review). The office is spotless, equipment is new. Staff are nice and courteous. The hygienist was thorough and the dentist had some good advice. Here's the best part, at my last dentist I was told I needed one filing, 8 sealants and a deep cleaning for my deep gum pockets- all out of network, all cash. NONE of these issues were discovered today. To make sure, I asked the dentist and hygienist to double check, which they did...Makes you wonder?? Also was seen immediately at appointment time, zero wait, zero crowding in the waiting room. No out of pocket, no issues at all with my teeth. Yes, I recommend. read more

2 weeks ago So I went to night owl dental a couple of years ago to get a dental implant. I was in the area for business and they were able to extract a dead tooth which was giving me problems and prep me for the implant. It was remarkably easy and painless and I was super impressed with the quality of work they were able to provide, especially as an emergency service! I was supposed to come home and finish the restoration which was supposed to be the easy part. Well I was pregnant at the time and wanted to wait until baby was delivered to finish so flash forward over a year. I had been with the same local dentist for nearly 20 years and thought this would be no problem for them to finish the restoration. Night owl transferred all the medical information needed to complete the work with my local dentist. Well, that doctor managed to royally botch the restoration process to the point that I left there with severe pain, TMJ issues and trauma to the area. I left his office crying. I called Night Owl Dental to ask what should I do. They were life savers. We managed to coordinate appointments for my next business trips so they could complete the work in their office. When I went back to their office, I couldn't believe the upgrades and improvements they had made. I felt like I was at a day spa. I was pampered and treated with such care that I actually enjoyed myself. I added laser therapy treatment to my jaw to help with the TMJ caused by my old dentist and sat and watched netflix while they completed all the necessary preparation for the restoration. I couldn't believe the night and day difference in patient care from my old dentist to Night Owl. I go back next month to finish the last stages of the implant. I realize I am technically flying back and forth cross country for dental work, but after the trauma I received from my local place, I don't trust anyone else to take care of if for me. My husband thinks I'm a bit insane but I manage to coordinate the appointments with my travel schedule. I am totally envious of the local patients who get that level of service and care everyday. I was greeted immediately as I walked in and checked in right away. I was in the waiting for only 2 minutes before I was called in. Both the dentist and the hygienist that cleaned my teeth were very friendly and helpful in explaining the condition of my teeth. The checkout process and setting up my next appointment was also completed in a timely manner. I was also given a box of chocolates (my favorite kind by the way) and a mask for New Years. I have not been to the dentist in years and have been constantly searching for one that will take care of my needs and accept my insurance. From a previous experience I have been terrified of the dentist making me stay away. Well my problems have only gotten worst so I was desperately seeking a dentist. I literally stumbled upon night owl dentistry in a booklet, called to make an appointment and they accepted my insurance. I went for my consultation where Dr.Lamb examined and explained my treatment thoroughly. They made me feel very comfortable and explained everything. Yesterday was my first visit for work (3 fillings) and as terrified as I was Dr.lamb and Chris (her assistant) took wonderful care of me making sure I was comfortable and in no pain. Once again they explained everything they were going to do before proceeding and answered any and every question I had. Because they made me feel so comfortable I decided to come back today for 3 more fillings and it went great. Mya the receptionist absolutely adorable lol extremely helpful as well. I moved to another dentist because after several visits, I realized they were making mistakes on billing me for things that weren't covered in my generous insurance coverage. They were telling me prices for services that changed several times since I came in. Granted the pricing was off $5-$10, it made me question why they didn't know the cost of their own services. What kind of business doesn't know the co-pay of their patients? I left as soon as I realized this was not right and went to another dentist who was consistent with their pricing. My new dentist makes me feel I can trust them. I wish I had just gone to my second dentist in the first place, oh well...lesson learned. I'm glad I didn't go thru with orthodontia services (Invisalign) because they said my insurance didn't cover it. Come to find out, my insurance covers more than half of it. I would have been subjected to pay 100% out of my own pocket if I had listened to them! My new dentist charges me only what my co-pay is. I am glad I am not with Night Owl any more. If they've changed their pricing procedures by now, then all the better for their current patients. I am here only to share my experience. read more

I'm always a but resistant to write reviews especially when I think it's an isolated incident. Well three things having to do with my procedure just don't make sense unless your trying to scam money out of my pocket. Anyway I went to this dentist and saw a younger doctor. He informed me that I needed a root canal on a dead tooth that was mostly calcified and a few fillings were to be replaced. I let the office know I'd take care of the root canal (which I didn't think was necessary on a tooth that was dead and the roots have been calcified to the point where nothing could get in or out) at a later date when I had decided on that issue and wed move forward with redoing a few fillings. I went in for what I thought was going to be for a filling and left with a half done root canal. Did I mention the doctor left the tip of a drill in my tooth? The doctor showed no sympathy towards his actions and even during my procedure gave me attitude that I'd have to go see a specialist if he couldn't do it which he totally came off as being not confident with the procedure. Helloooooo do you not know what your abilities are? If you know you can't fulfill the needs of a client please have the heart to send them to someone who can. Or if your fresh out of dental school maybe try practicing along side someone who has the experience your clients need? After a year and a half of sweeping this drill tip stuck in my tooth under the rug I have finally seen an experienced dentist who told me what this place didn't want to....That my tooth will probably never give me any problems! On top of that as he was taking out the temporary filling to replace it with a permanent one he found cotton fibers stuffed into the hole they drilled in my tooth! If that doesn't scream undereducated un knowledgeable and negligent I don't know what does.... Please find an experienced dentist to complete even the simplest of tasks as this office clearly doesn't understand the small skill set of the doctor they employed nor do they posses the ability to listen to their clients preferences or concerns. read more

I don't usually review businesses, but felt like I had to drop a great review of this practice. Two years ago, I went to a different practice for an exam and cleaning. They did a consultation instead and recommended a deep clean and filling 4 "stains" that would cost me over $1,000 after insurance. I had been avoiding the dentist since, but with an insurance change imminent, wanted to go to take advantage of better benefits. I did not need a deep cleaning and it was determined that I would only need 2 fillings (first ones in my life). Everyone from the office staff to the hygienist to the dentist were absolutely cordial and respectful and were not going to push me into unnecessary procedures.
