I have to warn u even tho I'm giving 5 stars: When I walked into my room I panicked. Like the way I panic when I can't find my phone or Amex. Mini heart attack. I felt like I was being sent to sleep in a decorated woman's prison cell but without a cell mate named george. After calling my family and friends to vent and realizing I wasn't getting a new room (all booked) I did some space planning so I could maximize my space. It's NOT a hotel u can lounge in all day. You will feel claustrophobic. However it is decorated beautifully and is charming. Bed is very comfortable. The red moon restaurant food Was great. Service was awesome. This was my first full trip to NYC with multiple nights at a hotel. We chose it based on location (close to Times Square), price (NY can be pricey) and look. While the room was listed as small it really wasn't bad from a size perspective. The dark decor reminded me of the W Times Square. While it did not have a view or windows worth looking out, if you come to NYC to look out of your hotel window then you aren't coming here for the right reason. So on the plus side, Patrick at checkin was phenomenal! He made us feel welcome and was extremely helpful with suggestions. Definitely exudes hospitality and the perfect person for the desk. While I liked the room it needed just a little "love" in upkeep with small things like missing drain stopper, broken light switch and one light which didn't have an on off switch . Small item but housekeeper kept discarding our soap in the shower and sink - and I hate to overuse amenities. While I didnt have an issue with the lighting I wonder for someone applying makeup how they would manage. They do have a nice and decently priced mini bar otherwise. They have a small lounge /Restaurant which was definitely nice to have on site for a boutique hotel with only 70 rooms. Upon checkout we had a nice chat with the front desk agent and he mentioned the loyalty program for repeat guests. The person who managed luggage offered to arrange for car service to the airport when we checked our bags which was very appreciated. The hotel is as chic as their web site portrays it - minus strangely-clad, "N"-tattooed models, that is. Don't know about a swimming pool, but there's a lounge connected to the lobby and a soft couch by the main desk. Rooms are a decent size for NYC, but expect to pay through the nose due to the venue's proximity to Times Square (only a few blocks from the Times Square metro stop). Sleek bathrooms are furnished with European-style showers and Kohler fixtures. Beds are appropriately soft. Plan on staying? A continental breakfast is included (do not do this, there are good local options) and Internet isn't (that's $10 additional). Staff are friendly. This boutique hotel has more lighting than I'd expect for a "night" theme. In fact, the total effect of black and white walls, carpets and furniture is surprisingly not garish. Stayed for 2 nights. The room was incredibly small. The sink was cracked and water pressure was a bit low. Small window was hidden behind a huge curtain. Location was excellent, only a few blocks away from Time Square. I had my tv on with the volume low while I was falling asleep, next thing you know security was pounding on my door saying my tv was too loud. I am going to split this review into 2 parts based on 2 rooms I had. Part 1- this was a queen room. Although small - it was super comfy. Very clean and loved the decor. View left much to be desired. Internet was not free. Part 2 - this was a "upgraded" King room It was a promotion summer special they had on their website. It included free internet and a bottle of Champaign. This room, while slightly bigger was In poor shape. There were gashes in the wall and it just looked run down. The view really sucked as it over looked nothing.I actually preferred the smaller room, It was in much better shape and I liked the way it was set up better.. Over all This hotel has a very cool vibe - all Black and white with Erotic themed art on each floor. The music is very down tempo chill and the lobby is cozy and relaxing . The location is excellent. Located in the Theatre district. It's steps away from Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, The Dimond District, Rockefeller Center, and within walking distance to 5th Ave, Empire State Building & Korea town. Anyways I finally stayed here on Wed night and I have to say it's very similar to the Ian Schrager hotels I've been to. While the decor was design forward I found it over the top and heavily sexed up (imagery that suggests orgies happen here welcomes you as you step out of the elevator on your floor). Room service was decent and the staff was really nice. The heater in my room was loud and rattled, which I found annoying. My stay was fine, but I don't think Night will be high on my list for next time. - Original Review Open but still in its final stages of construction. I wasn't able to see the rooms (I'm staying across the street at the Hotel QT), but the elegant and modern foyer is enticing. It looks like there will also be a nice lounge in the back. This is what would otherwise be a really lame hotel saved by unique decor. Night Theater District is a gothy, somewhat kinky little hotel a stone's throw away from Times Square. Staying near Times Square is generally a bad idea due to the crowds, so be warned - virtually every Uber out of here is going to take time to get in and out. The prices seem to range the gamut, likely because this boutique hotel discounts when needed to maintain full occupancy. Everything about this place would be extremely underwhelming if it weren't for the decor. The rooms, which are the size of a postage stamp, will likely make many claustrophobic, but it's really not that much smaller than your average place in NYC. What saves it all is the decor - the gothy, kinky decor really gives it a sort of fun edge, making you ignore some of the flaws for the experience. The large curtains, huge headboard, and cool wallpaper seemed to make up for the tiny room, cramped view, and old technology. Note that this place is probably best not stayed in with kids - nudity in the hallways. I found it cool/fun/thematic, but I can see it scandalizing some. Let's put it this way: if you can tolerate a less-than-ideal room, then this place is worth the experience. Conversely, if you're picky, this is likely not your place. read more

I would've liked it more off the bat if the staff was nicer. The Asian guy from the front desk is pretty rude. But let's get into the situation about the rooms. The room is super super tiny. I am 5'1 115 lbs and I bruised myself 3 times on the corner of the bed because I didn't have space to walk in the room but then again, I don't expect hotels in New York to be much bigger anyways. However, recently, I've been paranoid after reading an article about how hotels don't clean their comfortors so I've decided to put a flashlight under the comforters in this hotel and what I read on the article was right. It was absolutely disgusting (picture below). The sheets were covered with black specks here and there as well so it makes me think that they don't clean them so well. The walls and floor on the bathtub hadn't been cleaned as well because you can see the brown spots (dirt) in between the walls. Also, the "shower curtain" was nothing but a lightweight sheet so as you're showering, it will keep blowing on you and sticking on you. The only pro to the hotel in my opinion is the location, which was literally about 20 steps from Time Square. They also store your luggage before and after checkout. read more

For the front desk girl. I called to tell her I was checking out at 1 pm. She replied "Are you telling me or asking me?" I said "TELLING" ... She replied, "You have to ask if you could check out late, not tell me." I said I am with Tablets and then she said "Ok, if you have a package deal, you don't have to tell me. And I see here that you have a late check out. So, you're all good." Well, no shit sherlock! So, if she could see it on the computer why did she ask me that question? Customer service is important, her response was highly unnecessary! This should be addressed at the next employee meeting. There are expectations at a hotel & the front desk is the first representation. She needs to be trained on how to talk to guests, and read the computer screen of the guest's information before jumping to conclusions & asking that question. Unprofessional... Let me preempt this review by saying, if you are taller than 5'8, either book a KING room, or stay someplace else (I'll tell you why below). Recently went to NYC for two days on business, and was booked at this hotel. First of all, it's a FANTASTIC location - 1/2 a block from Times Square. You can't beat that - and it was within walking distance to our company, so that's why we were booked there. It's a boutique hotel with a "cool" night theme (colors are mainly black, with some white touches thrown in) hence the name,in a great location. It's tiny, but what hotels under a certain amount in NYC aren't? Nice, small lobby with a large couch and chairs, and interesting artwork (nice photos of semi-clad models in leather....you probably don't want to bring your kids here). Front desk people and doorman were pretty friendly, and they have a nice bar in the back. I didn't have any drinks, but there was plenty of seating and the drink menu looked good. I do have to say, they have the smallest hotel elevator I have ever seen (would not fit more than 3 people with luggage, and probably only about 4 without luggage). And of course, they play cool music throughout the lobby, elevators, and floors (they do turn it off at a certain point, because I didn't hear any after 10pm). My room was nice, just small, but I expected that. What I did not expect was the "short" queen bed I had. I'm 5'8, and my feet hit the board at the foot of the bed. I had to laugh, because my manager is over 6', and I couldn't imagine how uncomfortable he probably was. I've stayed at a couple of other NY hotels previously, and I don't remember the beds being shorter, so I'm not sure if it's just at Night, or not. But be aware of that, if you're taller. Just make sure you book a King room, or don't stay there, because you won't be comfortable. The decor was okay, but kind of busy. I think it would have been better, if the carpet was one color, because it competed with the wallpaper (I included photos). And they have lights underneath the bed, which gives it a nice glow. Flat screen TV (mine didn't work, but really didn't have time to watch TV), desk and hidden mini bar and fridge (which I was warned, is touch sensitive, so they charge you if you remove something to even look at it). Bathroom was nice (liked the small shelf above the sink, to hold my toiletries), and shower had good pressure, so no complaints about the bathroom. Overall, not a bad hotel, but it definitely had the feel of a hotel for a romantic weekend, or possibly a clandestine meeting for an afternoon rendezvous...It's worth it for the locale, but keep in mind the short beds, if you're tall. read more

This really should be 2.5 stars...i really wanted to like this hotel. I loved the pics online, loved the black and white vibe, but when I got there, things changed...a LOT. Yes, it's a boutique hotel. But they don't have a gym (they offer passes to gyms at least 5 blocks away) and their restaurant only offers lunch and dinner, not breakfast. They offered to do a Starbucks run in the AM which sounded amazing to me....except they never made the run so I had to frantically run across the street to the Hyatt hotel which does believe in serving breakfast and grab something quickly before my work day began. Here are the other issues: I looked around the room and pulled back the shower curtain to find crushed up leaves on the shower floor (not sure how or why that happened) and a big bug quickly retreat into the wall. Kind of grossed me out but I told myself if that bug doesn't bother me, I won't bother it. Let's agree to co-exist since I will only be in it's "space" for less than 48 hours. But apparently it had a friend as some sort of fruit fly type of bug insisted on flying around my head whenever I was in the bathroom. Still trying not to get grossed out... Then the outlet in the bathroom didn't work. So I couldn't use the hair dryer or my straightening iron. Made for 2 interesting hair days. (In fairness, I tried to nicely mention this and the bugs to the front desk and they did offer to have me switch rooms but I declined because I was only staying one more night and had no time to pack and unpack again to relocate). Lastly, I came home from my trip with 2 bug bites on the back of my thigh and one on my wrist which makes me think that they might have bed bugs or the 2 bugs I discovered in the bathroom made their way to the bed. (Ok now I'm grossed out but at least now I'm home.) I'm giving an additional star because they do have excellent staff service. They did feel really bad about the Starbucks run and left me a note under my door saying they tried emailing me (never received it because they inputted my info wrong) and did get my order right the following day and delivered it to me on time. I tried to pay but they insisted on comp'ing me. Nice touch. Would I stay there again? NO. Sorry but no way. There's too many "mishaps" for my book and I'm hoping and praying these bites go away. read more

Cool boutique hotel in the theater district. It definitely feels trendy (no name on the front of the building, black & white color scheme throughout), but not short-lived. It's a nice combination of whimsical and mature. My room was small - but with nice amenities that made it very comfortable. I especially liked the plasma-screen TV, the featherbed and down duvet, the perfectly fluffy pillows, Molton Brown toiletries, the daily NYX delivered to the room, and free wireless internet. Oh and the free glass of wine at happy hour. I didn't much care for the doorless shower, the eensy beensy desk, and the one tiny elevator. And I didn't eat in the restaurant, but the room service was just OK. (No reason to order room service in Manhattan, so not a deal-breaker for me). The staff is very nice and efficient, and other guests seemed happy with the service. I've stayed in hotels where there is always a group of people congregated at the front desk, leaning forward and complaining loudly. Not so here - the vibe in the lobby is calm and under control. The location is very convenient - just off of 6th Ave on 45th St. so you are not in the mayhem of Times Square, but can easily get to all central points in the city. The bar/restaurant was full every night (and I was here mid-week), so I would readily invite friends to meet me here. Would definitely stay here again. read more

For my first trip to NYC, my husband and I wanted to find a place that was convenient located and walking distance from a lot of neat attractions, including time square. The positives: This boutique hotel views beautifully in photos and has a very posh upscale vibe to it on entering. The decorating is all dark and moody, and more suited to adult travelers with a tasteful erotic edge. They also have a nice swanky bar, although it is quite small. The service staff was very friendly and stowed our bags while we were waiting for a room. The bed was comfortable but quite short (at 5'10" my feet touched the baseboard). The negatives: in spite of scouring photos for the rooms, the only ones we really got a view of are their "big" rooms, which appeared more standard size. The Normal rooms are VERY tight, which after four days felt exceptionally snug. The bathroom was tiny and very dimly lit, which as a woman applying nice makeup for going out made it very difficult. I had to straddle the toilet and put my phone flashlight on facing me to see anything close to detail of my makeup application. The shower was fine, except for a nicely priced hotel I would expect a real curtain vs a lightweight sheet that continually blows into the small space while you bathe. For an already very dimly lit room, one of the main lights was broken and did not turn on. We were also surprised that cleaning service did not even visit our room the first day we stayed, until interrupting us as we got ready to go out before dinner at 5:00. We had to make special requests for clean towels and a hair dryer. A small annoyance: there is one tiny elevator, and it is very slow. Overall, the biggest perk for this hotel is the location and rather swanky decor. For our next visit to NYC I think we will look elsewhere. read more

Super sexy, super sleek, super trendy, cozy, and convenient! Right in the heart of the theater district so if you're going to see a show and want to be near the theater, stay here! The entire hotel has dramatic, cool, black and white decor which is utterly fabulous!! I totally loved it and it was so inspiring as we had just purchased a house I was decorating!! Yes, the rooms are small, but what in New York City isn't? Yes, super pricey but again, what in New York isn't? We were gladly wiling to pay the extra amount here versus another hotel because this was so close to everything we had booked that weekend and because it was our anniversary so we wanted something with these uber sexy vibes! Yea baby! Right on the money! They accidentally double booked our queen room and had to give us a full which is fine because my husband and I because snuggle up anyway. No biggie. They apologized, adjusted the price and delivered a bottle of champagne so, yea, totally fine by me! I personally loved the double open showers! Very European! The sexy "Eyes Wide Shut" photographs throughout the hotel and the "interesting" (Kama Sutra vs The Bible) reading in the nightstand were nice touches. They added to the energy of the entire space. There was no mistaking what they were going for when they designed this hotel. The bar area was indeed jumping and again, sexy. Great for a nightcap or a pre game. Bond 45, the restaurant next door was great for a hangover brunch and there's a Starbucks a few doors down for a kick start after a long night. Patrick, the concierge was simply fabulous!!! He had great recommendations, directions, and personal stories :) Oh, and we also loved that they held our bags for us even after check out while we were seeing "Rock Of Ages". Super helpful! Rooms & Hotel itself are decorated in black and white, kinda gothic, but elegant, maybe a little overwhelming at first, but it grows on ya. Pictures on the wall are nice, but may border on obscene for kids, I liked it. Anything you need ie ice has to be called down for and the bell hop brings it up... can you say TIP ME BABY, lol. Nice plasma tv on the wall & local cable channels. Elevator maybe a problem for a claustrophobic person, but can comfortably fit 4 people with bags. They totally promote recycling (sweet). Boutique Hotel = Tiny Hotel. I booked this hotel on Kayak at short notice, I needed theater district location and this place is just steps from Times Square. Perfect. The lobby is dark and moody and very cool. There is a nice small bar in the back and a little seating and that's about all. This is ok, you will find one or two places to go out around here! Small elevator to 8 th floor and my room is at the end of the corridor. Room is tiny, even by NYC standards. Probably 8' by 10/11'. The bed? Do you remember Goldilocks & the three bears. Well, like our heroine, I slept in baby bears bed! Feet poking over the end! Room was also dark, this IS the hotel theme and I liked it, but it did occur to me that this would be an ideal place to take a new mate for a special first time/night. Any scars, embarrassing tattoos or third nipples are still going to be your secret. ( Unless you take a flashlight) I like the hotel but I'm scoring it a little low because of the tiny bed and the fact the housekeeping turned down the bed but left the door open! Love love love the esthetics of this boutique hotel. Every detail perfect for the vibe. You know when you're in NYC you're not going to have the biggest room or tons of views, but when I arrived I felt like the size was perfect and I was so happy that I had a wall of windows that looked over 45th street. The location of this venue is literally a block from Times Square and the hustle and bustle any tourist is looking for. Being next to the theatre district and to walk up and down Broadway is also a really awesome thing to do. Having the Night Hotel so central made it easy to grab a cab or über wherever I was going and I would arrive pretty quickly! My only dislike of this hotel and honestly it's not even really a dislike, but the bathrooms are so dark it's hard to really do makeup and get ready, but I made do and after the first day it didn't even bother me anymore. The employees responded quickly to questions and to provide services like check in and check out. Location is also good. The condition of the room and possibility of good sleep take it down. The whole building including flooring, paint, wall coverings, windows, fixtures, plumbing, HVAC, and tile work are not in good repair. Noise from the street is to be expected but even on a high floor we could hear people talking in the street. Earplugs that we brought with us helped with this. Not in Manhattan to bask in the sun! I stayed at the Night Hotel on 8/18/18. I arrived at 2:40pm and check in is at 3:00pm. The night before I called and ask if I can check in earlier if my room was ready and whomever at the time told me it was not a problem. So DANIELLA who was working the desk tells me I can't check in until 3pm. I told her of my phone call from the night before and with the most smuggest dismissive attitude she tells me my room isn't ready because I still have 20 minutes left to go..... Wow! I figured because they are in the hospitality business she would have checked to see if my room was ready but she couldn't bother...... So after I walked the streets for 25 minutes I check into my room because it was now "ready". I have 4 guests arrive all mid twenties and BLACK. I get a phone call a few minutes later to ask me to come down to the front desk. First of all I don't appreciate being summoned to a hotel's front desk like I'm being called down to the principal's office. So I oblige and I go. At this point it isn't the smug DANIELLA it was some other gentleman. He takes it upon himself to tell me that I am not allowed to have a party in the hotel. I explain to him I'm a director here on business and he will see numerous people coming in and out of the hotel however it will only be 3 overnight guests. He said no problem. Now why he felt the need to tell the BLACK GUEST with his BLACK GUESTS that he cannot have a party, I am not sure. Not only wasn't loud music being played, THERE WAS NO MUSIC BEING PLAYED AT ALL. I wonder if he gave all the other white guests that same warning........ So after more BLACK PEOPLE come in and out of the Night hotel. That became a problem and an investigation ensued.... I received another phone call from the principal's office, I mean the reception desk. And now I am being yelled at by the same gentleman that called me the first time saying that I am having a photo shoot and I cannot do anything commercial. So once again I have leave the relaxation of my room to go back downstairs. The receptionist tell me that "my manager asked the people leaving my room what's going on and they said they are coming from a photo shoot and you cannot do anything commercial here". First of all the Night Hotel is too kind in crediting me the attendance of all the BLACK PEOPLE they see exiting their hotel to my stay. And what would make them want to stop all the BLACK PEOPLE and ask them "what is going on"? Was there too many BLACK PEOPLE there that you became alarmed??? So the manager that the receptionist was referring to was DANIELLA. So I explain to him again but now very sternly what I was doing. Yes I have to take headshots of people being I'm a director doing interviews. So instead of paying $800 for an offensive poor stay, I got the honor of paying $1600 and my bank account as I type this is in the negative. I called the Night hotel and DANIELLA did not want to accept responsibility for the double charge and told me to call my bank and hung up on me..... WHAT!? I called my bank and they confirm that they double charge me and I have to wait till tomorrow for them to refund me my money. So Night hotel, after that terrible racist experience you have given me, I wasn't even going to write this. However! After you guys double charge me and DANIELLA was still rude to me and still didn't try to fix my issue, well I can't let that slide. You are not going to discriminate against me and then overdraft my bank account. The hotel NEEDS A BIG RENOVATION. The rooms have peeling wall paper, brown stained 90's zebra tie-looking carpet. My boyfriend and I stayed here recently on a two-day trip to NYC, and at first, only reason being that they had a $150/night special on their website. So we took it. It was definitely worth it for the price that we paid! Convenient location, just a few blocks away from Times Square. Based on some of the reviews here we walked in expecting it to be really, really dark, but it wasn't so dark at all. Nicely decorated on the inside, and the rooms were small, but we weren't expecting a big room, anyway. The bed wasn't as big as we thought it would be (queen-sized), but it was really nice and comfortable, there are tons of channels on the TV. The room was almost entirely in black and white, but it didn't bother us. And learn from my mistake...they have continental breakfast every morning, but don't assume it's free! It just is free during certain timeframes. Before we left, they gave us a coupon for an additional stay for $150/night, for returning guests only. I'm not sure if we would stay here again, since my bf and I go to the city for mini-vacations about 1-2x a year, but the only reason being that we like trying out different hotels =] read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. I booked it on a site that I use when I am traveling outside the us, and got the room for $550 for 2 nights. It was advertised for $700 for two nights on most other sites. It was definitely worth $550 for the two nights that we stayed. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was a bit small but it's New York and I'm used to that. They do advertise if you fill out a Survey you get emailed a coupon for a free drink. We filled out the survey but never received the coupon. There was a small stain on the bed sheets but all and all it was clean. I would would definitely consider staying there again if I can find it for the same rate! read more

Stayed for a night and the rates weren't that bad. Parking is a street over for $30 per 24 hours with the discount from the hotel. I booked a room with a king-sized bed and "city views". Don't let those city views fool you because it's literally a view of the Hyatt hotel across the street. I'm giving this 4 stars because overall it was a good hotel, but don't let them fool you with the idea of a city view. Also, it's a step away from Times Square which is nice. I'm not deducting stars for the claustrophobic rooms that everyone is talking about because I feel as if that's expected of most hotels in NYC. read more

Getting a hotel room in NYC that doesn't cost and arm and a leg for a room that's larger than the size of a shoebox is nearly impossible. This hotel is affordable and a great deal for the location - right in the heart of Times Square. Don't expect a 5-star hotel experience, but the rooms are decent sized, clean, and did I say reasonably priced? The lobby is modern, and the rooms are interestingly DARK. Most all of the accents and fixtures are which makes it a little dreary, but given the locale, I doubt you'll be staying in the room much at all. read more

3 Night Stay From reception checking in to checking out there was NOT a time that the NIGHT did anything but disappoint. The lobby looks trendy with it's black and white erotic photo's but, not family appropriate. Checking in: around 11PM, I asked the clerk what was close by to get some late dinner. He instructed us to Hells Kitchen on 45th and 8th. As we walked out of the lobby there were tons of pubs and Planet Hollywood waiting to serve us.. If you are booking on Hotel.com don't believe everything you read about the Night Hotel's "faculties". LIES. NO safe, NO bathrobes as stated. The halls to the rooms are narrow. If you're a small person the halls and rooms are for you. Large peeps and big luggage? FORGET IT!!!! The halls all dimly lit like a dungeon. The room just needed some chains from the ceiling and you are in business. Now, some of you might like this... The room was about 10" x 10" on the second floor. DARK, DARKER and DARKEST. Bring a flashlight! The room faced out to a large noisy building commercial fan on the bottom and 3 enclosed walls making internet connections impossible. The windows are not insulated so they are drafty and not sound proof. The TWO light switches operates a few lights that you can not read by let alone see anything. The bathroom you cant see in the mirror for lack of light and there is not exhaust fan or window. The one little closet, with 3 big hangers, had NO light at all and made picking out clothes difficult. No safe. No drinking glasses!!!!! I asked the front desk, Patrick, if I could grab a few drinking glasses from the closed bar. "NO"! He came back with ONE small glass tumbler and said that was all they had! How they serve food & drink I haven't a clue. Security? You might as well leave you door open. NO lock behind our door and the swinging door lock behind the door was made from silver heavy like plastic for your safety. Sharp edges on the mini bar and other surfaces as you bump and scratch your way around in the dark. Checking out we were dismissed by the girl at the front just saying, "you don't owe nothing". Not a good-bye, how was your stay?, bring your own flashlight and glassware when you you visit next. NOTHING! Full circle is complete. Out the door and into the cold street we went and that was the best part of the NIGHT HOTEL. Way over priced for what we didn't get! I'm reading thru some of these reviews now, with one saying,"why would anyone say bad things about this place?" LOL WHY WOULD ANYONE SAY ANYTHING GOOD???? And there's people giving it 4 stars with a list of bad things they have wrote. This doesn't help people. And it falsely elevates the Night Hotel rating. Yeah, its small as many of you claim it's typical NY - NOT REALLY. Try the Sofitel. If I were a hot vixen, say all of 25 years of age and looking for a crazy night out with the girls in NYC. I would probably love to book a room here. But I am not. And no not that either. Though a crazy night out with the girls always sounds like fun. The skinny: Very trendy boutique hotel, with evening lobby ambiance similar to a club. Dimmed lights, music pumping audibly from the bar in the back... The service was great. The attendants at reception were all surprisingly nice and very accommodating. The rooms were on the cheaper side at $250 a night for a single compared to other rooms in the city which were upwards of $350-500. My only hang up with the place was the decor of the rooms. It felt like a visual assault. I get their black and white theme. I think it's cool. But the bold black and white patterned rugs and wall paper were a bit much for me. Let's see... I felt like I walked into a chapter of Alice in Wonderland... you know the one with the cards? Let's just say that when I travel on business, I typically leave a light on in the room. But I had to shut off all the lights the night I stayed here because the patterns on the wall just weirded me out. Drama queen... I know. I know. All in all a great place for some I am sure! And within spitting distance of Times Square, I am sure it's a dream come true for hot vixens, looking for a trendy place to crash after their big night out. Just not for me. read more

KINKY! DARK! SEXY! DAAAARK! Night Hotel literally makes you feel like you are in the darkness of the night throughout your stay here. Round 3 of my 25th Birthday weekend ended up at Night Hotel where once we walked into the lobby we entered a Gothic setting with kinky sexual pictures on the walls. It is very much a luxury boutique hotel. The staff was very considerate and willing to bring us things we needed on our stay. Not too pricey and a good location. The room was super duper clean. All the furniture was black. I had a tiny window that looked into an alley (pointless). There were dimmer lights in the room where I could flip it all the way down and it was pitch black! Blindfold not needed here. Just throw me on the bed, who knew what was going to happen! Only one elevator here and the stairs are tight as well. There is a sushi restaurant and bar downstairs. The hotel bartender was cools and gave us wine. Night Hotel is what it says and while it may not be for everyone, it was definitely a unique experience here. Not far from 5th avenue or Times Square. Oddly enough I did enjoy this little botique hotel. Rooms are small but they grow on you. It's very unique and cozy. Also, it's very affordable. Stabucks is two doors down and the hotel is one block away from Time Square. Would return to again. ... One negative: I think they stole my ipod nano, but I could be wrong... I was so excited and really looking forward to staying at this hotel for my business trip. It looked more fun than the standard big chains, so I took a chance. Kudos go for the sexy and creative visuals/atmosphere, the decent price ($250 - $300/night around Thanksgiving near Times Square can't be beat), the location, and the luxury toiletries and Dean & Deluca goodies in the minibar. Even the doorman went out of his way to help me catch a cab to the convention center each day (even getting a nearby NJ cab to take me there as a last resort on a busy, rainy day - despite the fact that the cabbie wasn't able to operate in NYC). Aside from that, basic service was sorely lacking. I stayed for 7 days in November - December 2008. My first night in, I was exhausted from flying all day and ordered up some room service. Not only were two items on the menu unavailable (I was told that a copy of the menu I had was outdated, yet it was never replaced with a current menu), but when I finally got the pasta I went with, it was mediocre, somewhat cold, and contained (as I later found out) a shredded-up toothpick! I didn't realize it until I swallowed hard and felt a bit of pain. When I called to say I would be leaving my tray outside my door, I didn't even get the standard, "thank you," "how was it," and "is there anything else we may be able to get for you?" I never ordered from room service again. The European-style continental breakfast in the morning has a great variety, but I found the creamer and milk were bad on more than one occasion. The staff didn't seem to notice, nor did they do anything to keep it cold while it was out. That made me wonder about the rest of the food put out. When returning to my room in the evenings, I usually found the house keeping staff shorted me on the tiny Molten Brown toiletries. I have a lot of hair and one of those little shampoo and conditioner bottles goes in one shot. Also, I would be frequently left with no toilet paper! I had to ask each and every day to have them bring me what I should have gotten in the first place when my room was cleaned. When placing items on the floor, I noticed that it didn't look as if the cleaning staff ever vacuumed. It should be pretty obvious that black carpet will show everything. Apparently this was lost on them, and I made sure to keep my slippers or shoes on at all times. I should not have to see hair leftover from someone else when I check in....or ever during my stay. I specifically asked for a non-smoking room as I don't do well with cigarette smoke. On several nights, I had smoke from the area outside the bar wafting into my room. When I called downstairs to the front desk, I was told they couldn't do anything about it. When I reminded them that I specifically asked for a non-smoking room, they sent someone up to my room with air freshener. No joke. I got the impression they really didn't care. On my checkout, the gal at the front desk asked me how everything was. I think that was the first time in my entire stay someone there asked me that. When I said it was "ok," she seemed concerned and pressed me for the details. It was nice of her to apologize and tell me she'd definitely bring that to the manager's attention, but it was too little, too late. Even after returning home, I never heard a word. A decent hotel concerned about their customer service might have made some notes and followed up later on to try and make amends in even a small way, hoping for the chance to re-earn the business. Sometimes you only get one chance to make a good impression. I only wish the Night Hotel knew that, too. read more

Dear Night Hotel, You try so hard to be hip, but you suck. Your continental breakfast is a joke, your internet is slow and costs an extra $10 per day, there is no tub to soak in after a day of walking around NYC, and the person next door opening and slamming the closet is beyond annoying. You can hear the sound of your neighbor breathing through the wall. Oh and there is only one, tiny, ghetto, slow elevator. Really? Really? The room is okay and they like to keep everything super dark. For the price I would definitely try somewhere else. Is it sad that I'd much rather stay in a holiday inn express? To start this off if you are travelling to New York do NOT stay in Times Square. The Check in manager at this hotel was obnoxious, and arrogant, who always pretends to be doing you that extra favour even though it was included in your stay package. The quality of these rooms are AWFUL, with mold in the shower, and part of it still looking like its under renovation with masking tape along the edging and walls half painted/half plastered. Defiantly New Yorks sexiest hotel if you enjoy being put in a disabled room facing right out onto the main road right off Times Square. Needless to say even on the 5th floor you can still hear people's conversations on the street. After 2 sleepless nights we requested a room change which was a minor step up. read more
