The only thing positive here was the person at check-in, but everything after that was downhill. We arrived to a room with dirty sheets, used tissue on the bathroom floor, and a broken phone. When we opened the patio door, the entire screen door detached and struck my partner in the face. That alone should never happen in a hotel. I had called ahead and explained I was having ankle surgery and would have mobility limitations. Instead of providing an accessible room near the elevator, we were placed in the room farthest from it. After returning from surgery with a walker, staff didn't offer help, didn't open the door, and didn't acknowledge us at all. Navigating that hallway was painful, unsafe, and completely avoidable. This experience failed in basic cleanliness, safety, and accessibility. If you have any medical or mobility needs, or simply expect a clean room without hazards, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. read more

First time to NY with my fiance. We wanted somewhere close to the heart of manhattan. Location and price were reasonable. They have simple breakfast (muffins and croissants). We booked a room for one night visit based on 1. the location was said near the flatiron area and would be quiet 2. The price was lower than others $339 room rate per night. But in the end $425 with fees & taxes 3.The pictures on the website showed a nice room with a queen bed, new white sheets that looked like they were high thread count with big fluffy new towels. 4. Yelp reviews were good What we got was 1. a hotel in the restaurant district that focuses on Indian cuisine so you can smell their spices as you enter the hotel. Window overlooking the street with cars and garbage trucks active all night long (we used ear plugs). 2 small, full size bed wrapped in a liner to prevent bedbugs, 180 thread count sheets sat on dark brown carpet where we needed house slippers and small towels that have been well worn yet absorbent. The room had a slight smell of cat urine near the door entrance to the room. The bathroom was upgraded with luxury vinyl flooring 3. The price turned out to be same as hilton or others after taxes and fees 4. Our room was worn and stained so cannot agree for a 5 star. I would give them 1 star for poor sheet & bed quality yet the staff was so nice. They are doing their best. The staff was very friendly & helpful. They gave us a list of directions and o wifi, the shower and room necessities. They offer a continental breakfast. We had tea and coffee offered in paper togo cups. read more

I recently stayed at this hotel on a trip to New York City for a five night stay. For context, I haven't stayed in a lot of hotels of in New York City, so my frame of reference might be a little off. Do travel regularly, and have stayed in numerous hotels. I picked this hotel, in part, because it was somewhat outside of the typical tourist areas. I didn't want to deal with the crowds of Times Square or Rockefeller Center every time I step out the door. speaking of the location, it's just above the Lower East side. I also felt it was close enough to the tourist areas if that's what you wanted, but far enough away to as not be part of it. Sometimes, however, getting places on Westside was made a little bit trying as the walk to the two closest subway lines where further away than I am used to. However, the area has plenty of conveniences like restaurants, parks and coffee shots. In fact, there is a a great convenience store right next door. It was also short walk or bus ride form Gramercy and the East Village. The hotel and room itself were clean. My room was small and I had a view of brick wall, but that's New York for you. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was stocked with the essentials. They also had an amazing rooftop with great skyline views. The hotel offers a few help conveniences at no extra charge like tea and coffee service, room cleaning ever two day upon request and a daily continental breakfast. I also found the staff friendly and helpful. There were a few negatives. First, they did not have gym. Second, for most of stay the hallways were absolutely freezing. For context, it was in the 60s for most of my stay. Third, the room lacked a microwave and refrigerator. In sum, this is a hotel has most everything you need and nothing you don't. Stayed here a few weeks ago just for one night. Location was great, we were lucky to find parking on the street. All staff members we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean. My only major complaint was that the walls were incredibly thin. We could hear the people next to us having a regular conversation. We were having a good time late night and the people next to us banged on the wall -- apparently we were too loud but to us we were just laughing. It's not cheap but comparable with other places around. Loved how they had a list of restaurants for us to check out at the front desk! read more

Cute little hotel on Lexington & 25th in NYC. Conveniently located (I was having surgery at NYU Hospital the next morning and wanted to be close). The hotel's rooftop is a nice place to relax with a cup of coffee and something to read. The room I stayed in wasn't huge but it was very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel. They did not leave a message, nor an email. Instead, I arrive late at night, exhausted, and have no room, scrambling to find a hotel in NYC at the last minute. I ended up paying double for a horrible place down the street in desperation. I get it, things happen in this world. But there is no excuse for not leaving a message, email or text about the situation, or at least ensuring you have a contingency plan for the person arriving on your doorstep. I really enjoyed my stay in the Lex Hotel. Aside from ONE thing, which I'll leave you in a little suspense for. The front desk staff were friendly and courteous. The room was a cute little room but had everything we needed. Room service was quick and efficient. Things seemed generally newer. We got it for a great price. They even had this little wine and cheese crackers time in the front lobby when we got back one night. It was in a great location pretty close to everything. We didn't realize it, and I keep on smacking myself for this, but we were in the middle of little India with a TON of highly Yelp rated Indian spots. I wish we would have tried one. Maybe next time. THE ONE issue I take with this place is upon check out, they charged us this asinine resort fee ( that apparently was in fine print on our reservation we made). I've never ever had a hotel do this before. They need to be up front with this charge. The second I hand over my credit card when I check-in, they should have told me about this charge. I can't remember how much it was... but it was definitely enough to piss me off. If it wern't for that sort of cloak and dagger charge, the hotel would have gotten 5 stars. I reserved this hotel last minute on Hotel.com due to the points I get and for good ratings so far. I was told this hotel is only new 14 months ago. As everyone knows, hotels in NY Manhattan can be pricy but what I like for is simple - free good wifi connection (a must), TV, free breakfast (even if only continental), has hair dryer, and no extra hidden fees is required on my list...especially. Who wants to pay extra $25 fees for parking or hotel misc fees? We never rent a car in the city anyway!! The lobby entrance was not too big but it was nice and modern looking. The staff was pretty helpful but not so friendly that we spoke to. I guess not paid to have a conversation with you! ;p This small hotel was perfect for us and located near many things I wanted to see. The room may have been a little small compared to other hotels we stayed in but it was new and everything worked. The bed was clean and comfy. We stayed on the first floor (room 101) with a window facing the back wall so we didn't have a view of the city but another building. I was going to request a higher room but my husband was ok with it. Actually, after the first night, view of the city was not needed as we were barely in the room, we didn't have to ride the elevator and we were always arriving late back to the hotel; we just slept anyway. The bathroom was nice, clean, modern and good room for the two of us. The shower head worked; was clean and good for tall folks! The continental breakfast was good enough for us offering many pastries, coffee, juices and some fruit. It's only offered from 6:30a-9a. Be careful! The front desk manager blatantly lied to my partner and I about returning our security deposit. Shortly after we checked out, the manager told me- to my face- that my full security deposit would be returned to me in 3 days. I called the hotel about a week later and was given multiple invalid excuses as to why they would not give me any of my deposit back. Not to mention, the manager raised his voice at me and was incredibly dismissive and disrespectful on the phone. The rooms are cramped and outdated, and there is no lobby security at night. I wanted to write a review because it looked like in the last few months people didn't have a great experience, which was not the case for me. Check-in: When I got there the staff was super accommodating and helpful. They knew I was coming in earlier than normal check-in time and had a room ready for me immediately. The hotel itself was easy to find. The room: It was what I needed, a bed and a bathroom since I didn't plan on staying in there during the day. I chose not to have someone come in during the day bc of Covid. The one thing I will say is they do need an upgrade on their pillows and it would be nice if they got mattress covers for under the sheets (reason for 4 stars). They do have a rooftop but it was closed and should be open May. Location: Was in the perfect spot. We walked most places unless we had a dinner reservation. It was very easy to get to the subway from the hotel unless you were like us and walked most places. Overall it was what we needed. A place to come back, shower, take a rest, sleep, etc. Personally, I didn't have the same experience with the hotel like the others. I would stay here again. read more

Overall a great experience at Lex. Staff was very friendly and professional. The room was modern and properly cleaned. The location was phenominal, centrally located between many of the spots we wanted to see. Very close to many good bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. The hotel has a rooftop patio with seating and a few tables, and a great view of the surrounding city. The only downside was that our room on the 2nd floor was so small that there was barely enough room to walk around the bed once our suitcases were in the room. That being said, we got a fantastic rate for the room as it was February. I also would assume that most hotels in the area, that are in the same price range, would have similar small rooms. I really enjoyed our short stay here. Front staff was very courteous and pleasant. We happened to be checking in during their wine hour in the lobby 5-6pm although we could not partake. They also have complimentary continental breakfast 7-9am weather permitting on the roof, or in the lobby which we also could not partake in lol Room was modern, clean and reasonably priced. Checkout was actually 12pm, not 11am which I believe is stated on Expedia. Area was also very convenient with so many good restaurants a short walk away, AMC movie theater, Fairway, Wholefoods, ect. This is the worst hotel, especially the night manager Chavez! They say there's a policy for an incidental deposit. I asked to see the policy and he could not find it and does not have a copy of it. I have prepaid for the room for the whole week and because I don't have the 150 for the incidentals he would not let me check in. The hotel staff here sucks. It's 2 AM, I said I will Pally it first thing in the morning and he still won't let me check in because it's per policy that he doesn't have! My case for my headphones left them in the bed. They turned over my room took my towel and tub mat, didn't put a replacement. I had to call for a replacement. I left my head bluetooth case on the bed. When I came back found a stack of towels and my headphone case gone. They could've at least hung up the towels and placed the tub mat where it should be if they felt the need to steal my Bluetooth headphones case. I had my doubts the first time I seen the hotel online. However, after checking in a few minutes ago, it looks really enjoyable. The room looks tiny, but comfortable. Maybe not the ideal place for someone that wants their luxuries: such as a 40 inch plasma TV, or a gym. However, The Lex does offer great accommodations. The staff are very friendly and personal. The hotel is quiet, maybe too quiet. Perfect for me!! The bathroom is simple and clean. Again, perfect for me. However, taking a shower might be a bit of a chore. I am really sad and disappointed to be leaving this review. I had booked the Lex Hotel as an option close to a relative that I was visiting. I booked the Cozy Queen at the advanced rate for about $300 a night.I believe this was the most affordable option they offered, with the larger rooms and the non-advanced rate going for $350+. I get that everything is more expensive in NY, but that is still no chump change! Upon check-in, we were given the ground floor unit, which is literally below ground and accessible via a separate elevator. Once we went downstairs to the "ground" floor, we found that this was the floor with the janitor's closets and storage facilities, and two guest rooms. When we got in the room, it was smaller than the average hotel room, but pretty much in line with what we expected given that it's NYC. Here's where things just got dreadful: - Upon check-in, there were numerous fruit flies throughout the room. We're talking 5-10 fruit flies...as if spoiled food were left in the room and the cleaning staff didn't notice or care enough to get rid of them. Luckily after we got rid of those (all that night), it wasn't too much of a problem afterwards, but showed me that they did not do a good check of the room before assigning it to us. - I think we may have gotten the handicap accessible room - there was NO barrier between the shower floor and the floor of the rest of the bathroom (sink/toilet)...not even a one inch ledge to catch the water When the shower was turned on, despite having shower curtain drawn, water would get all over the floor of the bathroom. We requested multiple additional bathmats to keep this from making a mess. - On the ground floor, they had speakers outside of the elevator waiting area which was playing during all times of day. This was so loud that we could hear it all the way from our room. We had to call to ask them to turn it down at night. - The hairdryer in our room was clearly broken - only the lowest cold setting blew out air, none of the hot air options would work. Luckily I had family staying on a higher floor. I asked to trade with them (since at this point we had already called the front desk with numerous other issues), and they had a completely different brand and power hairdryer. No clue how they are stocking the room supplies but it just seems very inconsistent and haphazard. Clearly no QC measures were done on the one in our room. - Requested a blanket and the one that was delivered was a crusty, off-white blanket that felt as though it had been sitting on someone's couch for years. I feel bad leaving this review as we had a mostly positive experience with the staff working at the Lex, who did their best with what seemed to be limited resources. My ultimate takeaway is that the Lex is kind of like putting lipstick on a pig. While upon first glance it looks like a nice boutique hotel, the actual content and quality was below average and made for an uncomfortable stay. read more

I booked to stay in Lex Hotel NYC located at 67 Lexington Avenue, NY, NY 10010. I was scheduled to stay from Friday, 14 October 2022 until Saturday, 15 October 2022. Upon checking in on the 14th we noticed that the AC was not cooling down the room. I contacted the front desk and they sent a tech who reset the AC. He advised to wait an hr. We went to dinner and returned to the hotel 3.5 hours later only to find that the room was warmer than before. I called the front desk manager (Chris A.) who came upstairs and verified that the AC was indeed not working. He said he was unable to offer me another room because they were sold out. The room was HOT so I told him that I'd need to find another room. He said that was ok and he spoke to his manager about the issue. He said to call Booking.com and they should give me my money back. I contacted booking.com 1 week later and they told me they contacted the hotel but hotel refuted the claim and would not refund me my money. They also said they function as payment processor only and any refund would have to come from the hotel. I called the hotel and spoke to Patrick (manager) who acknowledged there was an AC issue and they had no other rooms but they best they could do is refund half of my $306.49 payment. I told them it does not make sense for me to lose $153.25 because they had equipment failure. He said he understood but that was the best he could do. I want all my money back. I'm paying interest on $306 because of a property that failed to maintain their standards. AVOID AT ALL COST!!! read more

I had to move far from where my family lives and paid double for parking in time square. I asked the manager if the Lex hotel could pay the difference in the parking free or even compensate us for parking or the inconvenience of being 40 minutes from family. Nice hotel with very friendly/helpful staff. They let us check our bags in early as we arrived way before our room was ready. They had our bags in our room waiting for us when we came back to check in. They even printed us out subway directions to help us find our way around. The room was nice, but small. No fridge unfortunately. Short walk to subways and the Empire State Building. Good restaurants walking distance too. I'd go back, and recommend to others. read more

Pros: Great location (not too crowded), convenient to train stations, food, and stores. Excellent staff. Easy parking process. Far from family and dinner reservations that we had originally. When calling the manager to explain my frustration he said there was nothing they could do. They moved us to a hotel wayyyy farther than where our family was and didn't even compensate us for anything. I would have shown up to the hotel and not known I couldn't stay there if I hadn't have called. This was less than 24 hours before our check in time may i add. Do not stay at this place!!! Overall, the hotel was fine (big enough room, clean) but I paid the same amount as two other friends staying in the hotel at the same time and was given a room in the basement. There was a window into a dark courtyard (if you could call it that, more like a small inaccessible space between buildings). It was VERY dark, musty, and loud due to the staff coming in and out of their work spaces in the basement. We frequently walked past large carts of laundry, and heard the ice machine going consistently from 6am. I get that there may be noise (it's NYC!) but this seemed like it was in the hotels control and very odd to have guest rooms in the basement. read more

I made a last minute reservation and arrived at 10:30pm. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. They first wanted to put me in a basement room but I got them to give me a different room which was on the first floor in the back. The first thing I noticed were the stains on the rug. The room was very dusty so I imagine it hasn't been cleaned in a while. The furniture has seen better days. My sheets had holes in them and the pillows smelled. I had to kill a bug that was flying around. The bathroom was pretty clean. If it weren't so late I would have left and found another hotel. I can't wait for morning. So disappointed! read more

I disliked the Lex hotel. I originally was going to take a one night trip to NYC since I recently moved to Albany but I got very sick the night before my train down. The train was easy to move back a day but the Lex hotel wasn't. I needed a doctors note, but who goes to the doctors for vomiting on their first day. We were kept up all three nights of our stay. First by someone sleeping with tv on which sounded like it was in our room. And then on the third night by the drunk twenty something couple next door to us that kept us up ALL night. You could here them using the bathroom, screaming, vomiting you name it. We did address it with the front desk staff who to their credit was apologetic, however they didn't have another room for us to move into. I have stayed here a couple of times, and even in my recent stay, which was miserable, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the hotel itself is beautiful. BUT... While the person at the front desk was cordial, as she handed me a key to my room she pointed to the room number...004. She said "you take the elevator right behind me down one floor." I thought she was joking. I said, "You're not seriously giving me a room in the basement?!" She responded, "it's our lower level." Well, the elevator as a big "B" in it which I suspect stands for "basement", because that's exactly what it is....a low-ceilinged, bare linoleum (?) floor that you wind your way around until you find your cell. Mine was a small underground room (I don't mind the small rooms at this hotel, incidentally) with a window that looked out onto a concrete wall. It reminded me of what I might expect from a Motel 6 that was underground. I live in Manhattan. I KNOW what to expect from hotel rooms. But after enduring the room for about 6 hours, I was just too depressed. I walked out of the Lex Hotel, and hope to never see it, or its dungeon rooms, again. Let me say again that the staff was entirely courteous, it has a great atmosphere in the lobby, offers continental breakfast, etc. I loved it when I was there several months ago. But if your room is underground with a view of a concrete wall, nothing that happens in the rest of the hotel really matters. Oh, I guess there is one good thing. There was an ice machine just outside my door....none of the real "guest" floors have an ice machine, you have to call the front desk and they bring it. But apparently, the basement is quite suitable for one. I expressed my unhappiness with Hotel Tonight, through which I had booked the reservation. They contacted the hotel, which refused to make any adjustment, and claimed that the room is like all the other rooms in the hotel. That, technically, is true. But to be underground, in a room with a window that looks out at a concrete wall, 2 feet away, is NOT the same as being in a small nice room, even two stories up! And for this I paid $200. To Hotel Tonight's credit (and I think they are AWESOME), they refunded me $75 of the cost as a goodwill gesture. Clearly they know something about customer relations. Imagine how many people I will tell about my awful experience at this hotel; surely it will cost them more than they received for the one night stay. You can tell I am really really disappointed with this entire experience. No hotel should carve out underground recreation-room type rooms, call them bedrooms, and charge $200 for them. The "lower level" is an unfinished basement. Don't let them persuade you otherwise. read more

Cute hotel in a very convenient location. We had a 5th floor room (and it sounds like that makes a big difference)... it was light and bright, with as limited road noise as you're going to get in the city. The room is small but there's enough room to maneuver around the bed comfortably, and the bathroom is actually a pretty good size. Everything was clean and in good shape. No coffee pot or fridge - didn't check if there was a hair dryer. Breakfast in the morning is free but nothing special - better to just head out for one of the many nearby coffee or bagel places. My only real complaint is that there's almost no water pressure in the shower. Everything else was great, and the staff was very friendly. There are also many little restaurants nearby, which makes heading out for a quick & easy supper fun. read more

Pros: - The front desk were super helpful and friendly (even booked our train ride and had someone wait in the rain for us to get us a taxi). - New and clean facilities - Our room was spacious (we got a 2 bedroom) - Free breakfast (minimal, but still - can't complain with free breakfast in manhattan!) - Free water bottles - Location in Gramercy area close to the metro and walkable to shops and restaurants (and the Union Square greenmarket!) Cons: If I had to think of one, I guess I'd say the hotel room is pretty basic, but honestly it met all our needs. I'll be visiting NYC again soon and will definitely be keeping this place in mind!
