How did I not find out about this place sooner?!?! Okay so someone mentioned that this place has the best bread in Colorado Springs. I hadn't even heard about it until recently but now that I've been? I have gone two days in a row. Yeah. Obsessed is an understatement. There are so many options and the smell of bread literally airs out and makes the whole street smell heavenly. I don't know if that sentence made sense but oh my gosh I'm in love. It's a little stand and there are breads galore, croissants, quiche, cookies... the whole nine yards! I am prepared to try them all. Yesterday I got the sandwich (hot salami and provolone) and brought it into work for lunch. I kid you not, 6 people came up to me, "woah. That looks like a good sandwich." Soooo many people. "WOW that's a huge sandwich!" And boy was it good. Best sandwich I've had hands down. I also got the chocolate and walnut roll and a cookie. Both were decadent and delicious and need to be studied. How are they so good? I went back again today and got both again. Can't help it! They're so good! I also got a ham and cheese croissant roll and a loaf of cheddar herb bread. I went overboard but... it's so good. And now I'm drooling while typing this. And I'm not the only one who feels like this!! The line was so long. At 8 am when they opened there was a line down the street. 8:30 am it was even longer! I was shocked. But not really because who wouldn't want fresh bread. But the line moved pretty fast and it the service was quick! I need to chill on buying bread. But at the same time, bread is life. And more specifically, bread from Nightingale Bread is life. This is by far one of my favorite bakeries in colorado and probably in the states. The morning buns are carmilized with a delicious mix of spices, the potato green chili pastry is rich but complex and the breads have a great crunch with great chew. The staff is incredibly friendly all the time. In fact I even asked if they sold their sour dough starter and they gave some to me for free and took time to tell me all about it. Even though it can be a bit busy, the line goes fast. There isnt a spot to sit down at the bakery itself but there is a coffee shop right next door that welcomes it (and the coffee goes well with it). I will be going here super often! read more

First Impression: WOW! that's a lot of people in line at 8am. Why? What are they in line for? Location: Located in the corner of a busy strip. There is plenty of parking, but it gets filled up pretty quick. Experience: This is a hidden "not so hidden" gem! there are two lines the one on the right is for the full menu, and the one on the left if for everything but pastries. We found this place by pure luck and proximity. On our way to the royal gorge, we needed to stop and charge our rental. When pulling into the plaza and finding a spot to charge our rental - I saw a crowd and lines of people forming outside. I looked its up on yelp and saw bread.. so I went to explore and got in line (just in case). as I stood in line, I heard people raving about how good their bread and sandwiches were. I wasn't quite sure what to order, but knew I was staying in line. Once i got to the front, the cashier walked me through options and popular items. They just finished making some fresh cold sandwiches, so i went with that. Capicola, provolone, and pickle - out of this world! and i HATE pickles, but you would never know it seeing me go bite for bite on this sando. Jambon Beurre - reminded me of Paris. All i was missing was a bottle of wine and maybe some arugula. A friend of mine told me about Nightingale Bread a while back and since then I've never gone anywhere else to get sourdough! It's quite literally the best in town reasonably priced, the staff is amazing. And the coffee shop next store was the icing on the cake. Delicious! I absolutely loved the potato green chili pastry. My family all enjoyed the morning bun. They have great bread, and the service is friendly. Prices are average. There is usually parking available in the shared lot, and there is always a line, but the line moves fast. There is no indoor seating, but the bakery looks cute and there are great shops nearby. Their Blonde Sourdough is great. They are efficient, friendly and the location is easy to get to.

My favorite sandwich in all of Colorado so far. Their bread texture is perfect, which is the majority factor of what makes a perfect sandwich. As for which sandwich is best, that's up to what meats and toppings you like, but I have yet to have a bad sandwich here. The loaves at Nightingale are good. Whole, they present a perfect shape, crust and color. Once you cut into the loaf, the structure per piece is holey. I know it may not be as easy with sourdough, but I wish a 2/3 - 3/4 inch slice had integrity enough to serve as one of two slices for a sammy. The line was long when we were there but it was so worth the wait (not to mention that we wouldn't have known this was the place to go had the line not been around the whole building). I absolutely love everything about this place. Whether that's the ambience, customer service, quality of baked goods . . . I always feel like I'm Belle heading into town for a baguette when I come. They keep for a long time if you double paper bag them on the counter or also in the fridge double bagged. We were scouring the whole city for a bakery that had marbled rye for our post St. Patty's Day favorite, the reuben sandwich. After realizing it's not really a thing around here we settled for the next best thing, or so we thought. We picked up an $8 loaf of rye bread on Friday only to find the outside crust was hard as a rock and the inside still raw.
