Went for the first time a couple weeks ago for the comedy night. It must be a company that does the company part and the comedians come to town and a bar hosts them. Hands down worst bar ever to host them. I think the signs said the bar does this weekly or something??? How? Size/ atmosphere- This place is TINY. If you're going to go you better get the whole party there extremely early for a seat because you aren't really going to be able to save seats and it's the only way you will be able to see the comedian. The set up is awful at this bar. You can sit on a crumby house couch up close next to the stage, grab chairs directly in front of the front door in the aisle that everyone's purses will be hitting your head with as they walk by, attempt to grab a round table with 6-7 chairs and most have terrible views, or attempt to sit at the bar with your back to the bar. The building structure poles or beer equipment and area completely block the view so for 85% of the comedy show myself, friends, and other guests were staring out the random store front windows or looking down just listening to the show because I could not see the front / comedian. There was no where to move to since they packed the house. Until 2 people left the bar we got up and sat there and let two friends scoot over so they could maybe attempt to lean over and see. Only have 2 bathrooms which are coed but that's fine it's small. The line though for them was longggg. Drinks/ service/ show- Small options available and only local craft that were okay. Get some freaking food or apps besides over charged crappy frozen pizza. Ciders that they sold were disgusting- like not edible. The drinks are as decor on the wall and kinda confusing to know if that's on draft, only beer available, all beer they make/ sell, etc. We all had issues with the stupid QR code menu and the website was cut off on half the groups phones and wouldn't show everything. Limited selection. No cocktails or mixed drinks is what I was told and then saw people drinking cocktails. No domestic. They only had 2 tablets yet only would use one and only have 2 bartenders the whole show. The lines for drinks from before the show started to after were constant. Bartender tripped over the rug, couldn't figure out where or what drinks they had, used the wrong beer glasses each drink. One was super rude and almost avoided people. I think one or both were possibly the owner. Then after the intermission as the headliner was starting and until almost the very end of her set the couple at the bar WOULD NOT STOP TALKING. A huge problem besides the view and size of this place was that they did NOT use or know how to use their speakers or volume. The microphone might as well been off. Not a damn person could hear anything in there unless you were up front really. This couple would not stop talking and I'm not sure if it was the owner and a patron or what but listening to their convo, not by choice, they did not know each other and she was not here for the show. Everyone from the other side of the bar, in front of the bar, across the room was staring and looking back at the couple to stop talking. A man at the end of the bar asked the bartender to tell them to tone it down and he said yeah ok and then continued avoiding the situation until he weaseled his way in and they still did not stop talking. She eventually left thank god but please do NOT go to a bar with an event if you can't read the room holy shit. I did really like the mom juice box from another brewery. I had a couple of the sweet and sour beer from Nik & ivy or whatever beer and it was good. The comedians were all young and funny. Main show was pretty intense as far as her opening up for her set (suicide, cutting, eating disorders, sex, etc) but that's literally their choice and how comedy works but I know a bunch of people made comments about how deep and too much it was. There was also 2 woman that ruined basically the entire show. The comedians were even over it. They were WASTED when the show started at 730 or 8. The older woman was a local teacher, she willingly shouted to the entire room the entire show, hitting on the comedian and would yell out loud and interact the whole time. Ok first one was funny but after 50 f'ing times get it together and grow up. The comedians were getting annoyed and the bar owners should have stepped up. They were making a scene in the bathroom and holding everyone up also. I'm all for girls night and letting loose but you should have boundaries and that's a liability for a bar owner also. POPPIN' PILSNERS This Lockport brewery has a decent number of rotating taps, but it's not my favorite place to grab a drink. Nik & Ivy is a small brewery on State St in downtown Lockport.  As with most places of this ilk, there's no food on-site and it can be tough to find parking.  Your best bet is a side street (and keep your visit brief). Last time here, I was disappointed they didn't have any wheat beer or amber ales on tap.  I understand that it's winter and some beers are seasonal, yet all I saw was heavier stouts, IPAs, and a few oddball brews. I got an Italian lager that tasted like a Peroni, which wasn't bad, though it was definitely a compromise.  The west coast lager was a bit better, but in retrospect, I should've gotten a pint of mead instead. My go-to - a Hefeweizen - is likely a springtime beer, so it was nowhere to be seen. They have a trio of pinball tables on your right as you walk in--their current lineup includes Star Wars, Godzilla premium, and Foo Fighters ($1/ea).  Just like with their beer taps, they cycle through pins periodically so I'll check back in a few months to see if anything got swapped out. * TL;DR * If there's a place that serves beer and has more than 1 pinball table, I'm gonna find it. Nik & Ivy is a pretty typical brewery that shares a lot in common with Orange & Brew in downtown Downers Grove, as well as Black Horizon in Willowbrook.  I've only ever seen one guy behind the counter, but he's easy to talk to. I'd recommend and will likely stop in again. read more

Stopped into Nik & Ivy Brewing for a nightcap. Their space is very open with a large bar and open table seating. I loved the beer equipment on display and industrial vibe to the inside. My group got a round of beers and I an old fashioned featuring Whiskey Acres spirit. They had live music which was a nice touch for a Saturday night. My wife and I purchased tickets to the comedy show on the night of February 13th, 2026. This is a brewery we've come to enjoy and support regularly, which makes this experience especially disappointing to write about. From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted with any kind of welcome. Instead, we were met with a cold, "What do you want?" demeanor. It immediately set an unwelcoming tone. When we stepped up to order, my wife politely asked about the sour beer options. The bartender - a tall, lanky male wearing a red shirt - completely ignored her at first. When he finally responded, it was with a snide remark, saying, "The ones we make." As customers standing inside your brewery, that response came off as intentionally dismissive and condescending. He then handed us a QR code and said, "You can just look there," again with a nasty expression, as if we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests. Throughout the evening, there was also a noticeable tension and apparent conflict between staff members behind the bar. At one point, there appeared to be a female employee who seemed visibly intoxicated while working, which was concerning and unprofessional to witness as customers. Overall, the service we experienced was rude, dismissive, and completely out of line with the welcoming atmosphere we had previously associated with your establishment. We came to enjoy a comedy show and support a local business we've liked, but instead left feeling disrespected and disappointed. We hope this feedback is taken seriously, because experiences like this will absolutely influence whether loyal customers like ourselves choose to return. We love the beers. But guess we will just have to buy the canned ones over at open bottle and just enjoy them at the house to avoid their service. read more

After hearing about this family owned brewery in downtown Lockport on the I'm Fat Podcast,I decided to give them a try . As soon as you enter you get greeted by the bartender . You go to the bar to order your beer. He was willing to answer any questions you might have or even give you a small sample to taste. They brew on site and offer about 12 different beers in 5,10 and 16 ounce pours. There were many regulars sitting at the bar and I noticed most of them had the 1853 Orange Creme Ale so I decided why not. I am glad I did! Delicious and refreshing with just the right amount of orange and vanilla. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is no food options are available unless you bring your own or order from one of the local establishments in the area Open daily with entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights,this is a real gem. read more

On a slow Monday night surprised to see that the Lock & Mule was closed due to an event and went across the street to Nik & Ivy and glad we did! Tom the bartender was wonderful, very attentive, gave us tastings and recommendations. There is no food at Nik & Ivy, but several places down the street can be ordered, and some will bring it over. We choose the mexican Taco Heaven right down the street, brought it back (left our tab open!) and highly recommend it! The chips and salsa was great with some yummy beer. Plenty of bar and table space, unisex bathroom also have a full sized diaper changing area. Beer wise, some of the locals told us that Lock & Mule may have great food, but beers could be hit and miss and they come over to Nik & Ivy. :-). Tried the very yummy Orange Cream. The Coconut Cream was also great, and the Vanilla Cream seemed a little light and only a slight hint of Vanilla. Orange Cream was the favorite! Came to this location for a Wednesday trivia night. It was from 7pm - 9pm. They had four rounds, and anyone could play. They offer a variety of beers and a few non-alcoholic drinks along with Trulys and ciders. You can order food from next door to have it delivered, or you can go pick it up as well. They only had one bartender behind pouring beers. But waits weren't long because it's just beer. Everyone was extremely nice and seemed like they loved their job. A very good local brewery. It has kind of a classy touch but casual. Nik & Ivy is one of the popular hangouts in Lockport. Good beer selection even though they haven't been here all that long with lots of variety in flavors. This isn't extremely loud like many bars and is more of a relaxing fun time. Has quite a few beers on tap and these aren't all similar like how it can happen sometimes at a brewery. It has hoppy and sour among flavors. The Quint's Bounty is a good one of these. It's $8 for a pint. This is a lot for a beer, which is the only bad thing. It's a sour IPA. This is also pretty strong. Among the others are more hoppiness. There's hearty beers like a stout. Also has some snack food. Pretzels are good with beer usually. It's $4 for a bag. These are okay but aren't special. Fun times and a knowledgeable staff about beer. It gets kind of expensive on some especially the stronger ones. There's not much to eat except pretzels but sometimes there's food trucks. read more

This place had been on my radar to try for over a year and I finally was able to get out to Lockport to give them a try. My boyfriend and I shared 2 flights so we could try a little of everything. By far our favorite was the ParasaurHopolous. Their Octoberfest styles were also delicious. The fest friends is a collaboration from tangled roots. Cute place. I would recommend! They lost 1 star for me because the cost of their flight was slightly higher than other nearby breweries and service was slightly slow. I would recommend if you are in Lockport to try out! read more

I can't believe with all of the breweries closing in the south suburbs, brewery options have been more and more scarce than ever. I came here to meet up some friends. This place was absolutely beautiful and ambient. They had a cool guy playing acoustic music! The staff here was absolutely friendly but the staff that frequent this place are absolutely die hard supporters that absolutely care about this business that I met and befriended on my visit. Cute little place for a drink. Sadly this place didn't have a patio area or a tent with heated lamps, but they do have quite a few tables, a bar area and also a second floor by the windows. Parking wasn't too bad even on a weekend. My friend parked right in front on the street. They don't really have a wide selection of beers but their flights are pretty cheap. A flight of for different beers were from $3.75-$5 I believe. This place doesn't serve food, so if you're looking for some snacks while you can either order from next door or go somewhere else. Nice newer brewery that opened up in Lockport. Lots of great beers, I got the huebner, dellwood, and parasaurhopolous, all quite good. I also got the Hefeweizen to go. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with some TVs inside to watch sports or whatever. Service was fast, and the bartender was friendly. It's right down the main downtown of Lockport, so near a lot of the other bars and restaurants. It's a bit far from the city, so I don't know when I'll be back, but I'm really glad that I made the trip out here and enjoyed all the beers I had. read more

Love the beer selection. Even though they were tapped out of their IPA (though I look forward to trying in the future), I got a flight and loved all of them. Vanilla Porter, IPL, Zephyr Express Pale Wheat Ale and Runyon Red were delicious. My wife had the Beery Lemonade Fruited Sour Ale and is hooked. We ordered food from Stagecoach next store and had a great time on the patio. The inside looks beautiful too. Looking forward to a repeat visit. read more

What a hidden gem! Love going to Nik & Ivy. Delicious beer and people are always friendly.

Approached and sat at the bar whilst making eye contact with the guy behind the bar(I was 1/4 people at the bar). Waited for 5 mins until making eye contact with the other female bartender. Waited another 10 minutes whildt 3 other parties were served(parties of 2-4). Waited another 5 minutes until I was finally served. 20 minutes for so much as a greeting. Get outta here read more

Good location, atmosphere and service...but, it's a brewery, so why is the BEER a subpar disaster?

No parking, one employee for the whole bar, ( approximately 30-40 people) which resulted in 10/15 minute wait for every order, standing at the bar( not bartender David's fault). Only menu option is their QR code-and very hard to read unless you download the app. They had live entertainment which was awesome The crowd ( 90% ) were there to support the entertainment. . A 12 foot bar with only 2 POS systems and none at one end of bar. Also all the taps are at the far end of the bar( which makes the wait even longer ) I'm not one for craft beer and the only other option was a bottle of water. Young millennial bar with patrons sipping their beer and playing board games and such. NO food but you can bring in/ order from near by restaurants. Round tables with metal chairs .. seems like they are trying to mimic a place in Wicker park. ~ I'm sure the night would have been better if the owners cared enough to staff properly. All in all a very frustrating night with the lack of ownership support and the horrible layout of the place. Also the Gender neutral bathrooms are a risk and get dirtier as the night progresses. read more
