I went to niketown this evening to buy some running shoes. Sore knees and ankle pain tell me my current footwear might not be cutting it. I had done my research online, found some nikes I was interested in and thought I'd walk down the street from work to buy them. But the customer service sucks at this store. It took a long time to get anyone's attention and when I finally did the dude quickly told me the shoe I wanted was out of stock and left me hanging. I left turned off and thinking about adidas. This is a pretty cool store! We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop in. There was a promotional event going on that I LOVED! It was for ladies and if you spent over $100 you got a 25$ credit, your hair braided(in store), a manicure(in store), a canvas bag and a towel. It was great! The store is losing a star because it took forever to check out. There wasn't a line but an employee told me he could take care of my purchase right there but the device kept failing and I ended up waiting around for about 20 minutes while people moved seamlessly through the normal registers. read more

Now let me preface this review by saying we got here probably 2 hours before the store closes on a Tuesday. However, this was one of THE worst shopping experiences of my entire life. Yes. My entire life. I don't shop a whole lot but this was really bad. I would expect better from the Nike brand. Let's start with BORING!!!! The layout is terrible. Hard to find anything including a sales rep. The lab closes earlier than the store closes. The selection was dismal for a "flagship" Chicago Gold Coast Mag mile store. When we did find a rep she was great but then she had to go to the depths of hell (really the basement) to get a shoe! So imagine how long we had to wait between choices! I was in the market for 2 pairs of size 12-13 gym shoes for my high school age grandsons. We fared far better at the small Nike outlet store on 87th and that's saying a lot considering it is the southside of Chicago. Boooooo!!! Save your time and energy. I went here to get running gear for myself and my husband, but it was like being in 2 different stores.. Womens floor: Staff just stood in a group of 4 chatting, no help at all when I asked for some advice re: apparel when running in the snow. I don't think they even knew what running was! First floor (mens running): Staff were SO helpful, and knowledgeable about their products. Such a contrast from upstairs. They were also friendly and answered all my questions that the staff upstairs couldn't. read more

Located in the heart of Magnificent Mile, this Nike store is 4 floors! I did come here during the weekend & it was definitely busy. They were also serving complimentary mimosa's for Nike Plus Members & gift wrapping the day I visited. They had a DJ playing on the first floor which made my shopping visit even better. The only thing I noticed was they didn't have any clothing that said CHICAGO on it? I've been to Nike in other cities & usually they have a section with apparel with the city name on it. At 8am on a cold Saturday I went to the Nike store excited to purchase my very first pair of Jordan's as a birthday treat. Because I've never purchased Jordan's before I asked the Cashier if I could try them on she said no but if I could not fit them I would have to get back in the line outside to exchange them. I said ok and purchased the shoes and went to my car to try them on quickly. I tried one shoe on and realized that the shoe fit a little snug and I'd planned on wearing thick socks with them. I neatly put the one shoe I tried on back in the box and went back to the store to exchange them for a half size bigger. When I walked in I was met by the Assistant Manager Corey. He told me that I would have to wait until 10am to return the shoe because technically the store is not open yet. I explained to him that I told the cashier that I would need to try them on and she never told me that I would have to wait until 10am to exchange them. He offered me no apologies for the cashier giving me incorrect information. He totally disregarded my issues and even pointed towards the door stating that he was not going to keep having this conversation with me. I work in the customer service industry as well and I do understand mistakes happen. But what I don't appreciate is the lack of empathy from the Ass. Manager about the incorrect info his employee gave me. Now after working overnight I'm currently sitting in my car paying downtown parking fees waiting until 10am to exchange a pair of shoes. I'm just totally disappointed in how this situation was handled. read more

Good store for selection and super cool store design. The woman who helped me on the women's floor was pretty helpful but once I went up to the NikeLab it was a different story. I had a very hard time getting anyone to help me with a pair of shoes I wanted to try on and once I did I felt as if they were extremely rude and condescending. They would not let me try on both shoes and once they gave me the shoe to try they were nowhere to be found (no asking if the size was right, anything else they could help with, etc). I would have bought the shoes but no way I was going to buy it from these employees. Maybe I didn't look like the 'type' for shopping at the NikeLab (sorry I didn't dress up for the occasion) but I have received far superior customer service from many high-end stores while dressed just as 'sloppy'. Terrible customer service Called because overpriced shoe fell apart. Was told I could get replacement pair. Get there and cashier says only can give half the value because I didn't have a receipt. Absurd. Shopped Nike for 25 years and spent well over 5000 dollars through the years. But now because Nike won't stand behind products I will never again purchase Nike. The help is beyond poor here. Went in looking for a specific type of compression/heat wear. Asked three different employees about where to find it and got an "I don't know you'll have to ask someone else" every time. Finally asked for a manager the third time and apparently there was no manager on duty (huh?). After wandering around the store (with terrible lighting by the way) aimlessly for 20'minutes trying to find it myself, I called it quits. Walked over to Under Armour got comparable item and was in and out with superb help in under 10 minutes. Nike, you may want to evaluate your employees here, make them familiar with your product, and show them what customer Service means. Until then, I won't be back. Whoa. I have no idea how I haven't been to the Nike store before last week. I own lots of Nike clothes and shoes... I just hadn't gotten them from this store. My job had an event here last week and I couldn't believe how big this place was! 5 stories tall! Most of the women's clothing items were found on the first floor. Our event was on the third floor - we had the whole floor to ourselves, complete with beer and pizza. The staff on every floor was helpful and courteous. Bathrooms are on the 5th floor, FYI. Thankfully, there are elevators in addition to escalators! This store has a great selection of all things Nike - and lots of shoes! They even have a good amount of Cubs World Series gear too. Worst customer service ever. Spend $200 on shoes, paid for them and then waited 20 minutes to get a receipt because their printer wasn't working. After 20 minutes, a receipt from the basement appeared but it wasn't a gift receipt. I was buying a gift. No I can't use a regular receipt for a gift. Every manager and associate at the store literally tried to figure out how to get me a gift receipt. Can't believe this. read more

Escalators were out of service and the elevator was either super slow or out of service as well (it was hard to tell because we were waiting with other people for over 5 minutes for it arrive but there was no "out of order sign"). Like other reviewers, the staff wasn't very helpful and could not be found when I needed them to try on shoes. read more

Shoutout Michael John for the dope service! Also the employee that worked with the Nike App mobile pickup helped me know about a deal and got my shoes cheaper. Another couple employees said they didn't have my size in a couple items and I went downstairs to another floor and it was right there. Another said there weren't any other colors for a specific item after I looked at multiple others on the previous floor. We get it work sucks when it's time to close but at least get your customers out happily and not rushed. Shame on you guys for just lying to customers BC you wanna go home. Your shift doesn't end when the store closes, it ends when everyone is gone so you might as well help customers that need help. It even makes the end of your shift easier since most jobs in retail don't end when the store closes, there's tidying up to do. This was a very cool store. It has 5 floors with a floor for everything Nike that you could need. The selections is not as good as the Nike store in New York but it has a better selection then foot locker. Next door to the store is a Nike design studio that is very cool. In the design studio you can draw shoe designs and donate shoes. Also if you are looking to sell shoes you can have one of their shoe photographing machines take pictures of them for you. read more

Dear Niketown, I try to avoid you whenever possible. But yes, I will come visit you because you're easy. You're in every major US city main shopping district and you carry a lot of stock. Your staff and service usually suck - but hey, it's a one stop shop and we don't have legit Niketowns in Canada. I don't like you, but I like your product. I went in here today to find running shoes. I came to notice that this store has 4 floors of NIKE and also a training club! The store was so huge and organized very well. I did notice that there was a very small selection of women's athletic apparel which was a bit disappointing. The women's shoe section was packed and there were not enough sales people on the floor to tackle the crowd. The customer service was a bit disappointing overall. The man who assisted me brought me the wrong size and shoe, twice. However, I love my shoes so I am sure I will come back again just not anytime soon. read more

Okay, I'm 45 years old and in training for my first marathon since oh, I was 17. I've been training well, following all the conservative recommendations to ensure I stay healthy and in shape. Unfortunately this last week, 9 days before the marathon I began to severe, sharp pains with tendons on the outer part of my right foot. Knowing I had no choice, I jumped on my bike expecting to visit up to 2-3 stores to find the right shoe to solve my problem. The funny thing is, I didn't know NikeTown was in re-concepting mode nor that I was going into the store on their 2nd day. I walked in, went up to the third floor and began to study the Wall of Shoes. After a few moments, I began to try and find a salesperson to begin the obligatory "does this one support and arch...etc, etc" but I couldn't get anyone's attention. I didn't think it was that busy (it was 10:30am on a Friday), but there didn't seem to be enough salespeople. Finally, when I was about to give up, some woman said "can I get you a pair to try on?" Not even a hello or how are you, very functional and to the point. I said sure, this one in a size 9. She took it and disappeared. After 6 minutes (I noticed), she came back and handed me the box and walked away. I tried them on, walked a little bit and thought, "well, they're okay, but I don't know." Since there wasn't anyone around, I decided to abandon NikeTown and hit the other smaller, local places that really specialize in one-on-one service. Then...out of nowhere, this guy (young, tall, skinny, African American) came up to me and asked nicely, "how do they fit? do you like them? Is anyone helping you?" I told him I didn't know if they were the right ones and that there wasn't anyone really working with me. Whether he could tell I wasn't really convinced I was at the right place or not, he explained there was a professional trainer on staff and he'd love to assist me if I had a few moments. I said sure thinking "I have no idea what he's talking about but a professional trainer is a professional trainer!" Well, this guy (who went to USC but I didn't hold it against him) came over and spent over 15 minutes with me, talking through my challenges, what kind of support I needed on the sore arch, the best stretching in the morning then put me on a treadmill, showed it back to me where I hitting the pavement and even shared that I was wearing a shoe a half-size too small. Brilliant. And yes, finally, i did buy a pair of Nike's (zoom 7 I think?) and didn't want to visit the other stores. After 4 days of taper-training, I have to say that professional trainer and that salesman foremost saved me and my sore arch. Thank you gentlemen, your customer care was amazing. I wish I could give NikeTown five starts, but that first 15 minutes was just too clunky. Maybe I'll change it to 5 if I finish the marathon! read more

I'm not a big Nike fan for shoes only because they just don't fit me right. Work out clothes, yes. And honestly, I haven't been in this store since I moved to Chicago 15+ years ago. Ok, maybe not quite that long but definitely not since the store was remodeled. I definitely felt like my visiting relatives taking in the scenery, shoes, and clothing. My younger cousin is all about Nike shoes (esp. the latest Jordans or something) and could easily spend his entire day here, which I'm pretty sure he did. I think he even made a friend with one of the employees who was helping him. I don't know what is but this store is good for visiting friends and relatives. read more

Worst experience at Nike ever. I am an avid shopper of Nike brand, but there was a DJ in the store today playing music at a significantly undesirable decibel. I couldn't even hear the sales women when I was trying to buy shoes (the poor woman was just as annoyed as I was). Frustrated - Every June I come to this store on Michigan Ave to get the new LGBT Be True men's shoe and every year I get the run around on where in the store I should go to try it on. Sure enough, I was told by four different associates to go to four different floors and locations. It might be worth mentioning in all staff meetings where the EXACT location is in the store so this yearly negative experience does not happen. Next year I'll just order online. read more

Everything Nike in here. They have every Nike shoe that you could possibly need and tons of variety of clothes. One of my Brazilian friends wanted me to pick him up some Nike running shoes so I went into the store with a picture and the guy standing at the shoe area was more than helpful to get me the shoe. Said he was going to have it sent down and brought to the check out. So I went browsing around. They have 3 floors. 2nd floor is for men. 3rd floor is for women and little people. The polo shirts on the 2nd floor are really nice. A medium usually fits me but for some reason, the sizes here are a little bigger and a small fit me better than the medium. My girlfriend wanted me to bring her back a hoodie so I went up to the 3rd floor. However, I couldn't remember her exact size. I knew a small would probably fit her or be a bit big but seeing how she was currently in Brazil, I was having difficulties remembering the sizes. So I went and found a girl who was working there. The first girl I saw was taller than my girlfriend and she saw that I needed some help. When she came over, I asked if I could borrow her, put the hoodie up to her and asked her if that would fit her. She laughed and said yes. Just for most people's info, they do not have many hoodies without a zipper now. I was able to only find 2 that didn't have zippers. Overall, the interior is very nice to look at and the service is very good. read more

My boyfriend's Fuelband communicated to us, that we needed to take it to the store because it is not functioning properly. So I take it with me, with no receipt or proof of purchase and communicated to the female associate who was standing at the Fuelband area. She flawlessly executed everything properly, from identifying the Fuelband's current warranty and offering 2 options on replacing the defective product. I just had to pay the difference of current retail price for the old unit for the new SE that's out. The other option was to mail the defect to Nike, so that they can send the same model back since these Fuelbands are no longer in production. Even after choosing the wrong size, coming back the next day, the exchange was quick, just make sure to visit the Fuelband area first and addressing concerns with them, before going to the cash wrap. Everyone that I interacted with were quick and on point. Which is what I favor, in a busy environment like this one, especially during the holidays. The DJ's music that Saturday was a bit too loud, and didn't really add to the ambiance of the place, really. If you're going to have music like this, please make it more of an event, than just providing music that you can easily channel through your current speakers. As long as you provide the tools necessary for them to execute their policies and procedures; things will go smoothly. If in question, call the establishment first. You guys still remember how to make phone calls right? It's like, going to the DMV and not bringing everything with you that is required of you, in order to get a new license. read more

We went in for Chicago Bulls jerseys but were told they won't start selling these until September, as their new contract with NBA doesn't start until then. The staff was more than helpful and suggested us to visit Adidas couple blocks away. We tried a pair of shoes on quickly and then left the store. Three hours later and after many other stores I realized my camera was missing. I'm a photography student and my camera is undoubtedly the most valuable possession I have. After tracking down all the other stores and failed to obtain security camera footage in the Water Tower, Nike is my last hope. When I called and the staff told me"Yes we have it"I almost cried, there were many other shoppers around me when I tried on the shoes and someone could easily grab it and go. It is incredible that the staffs were able to spot it quickly and keep it at their registrar for the panicked owner to come back and claim. I disagree with A.S.V. Nike shoes are the best on the market. They are the only shoes I buy that don't hurt my feet initially after putting them on. Reebok is that way for me too. But overall out of all the shoe brands I buy it's either Nike or Jordan. They last a long long time. The Niketown store is one of the coolest stores in downtown. Plus I don't know about all that stuff about child slavery. Thats so decades ago. The elevator in the store is real cool you can see through the windows of the elevators into the store. Great selection of other sporting goods too. Golf is especially popular because of Tiger Woods endorsed with Nike. So overall a great store. Update: It's been a while since I've been here. probably almost 6 months ago I was in Niketown. I went there today 11/23/08 and their shoe selection has gone to the dogs. Hardly any shoes but mostly apparel. Never will I go here for shoes ever again. Oh and no help. read more
