All coney islands aren't the same. Royal Grill is a gem among the diner style restaurants in this area. The staff definitely adds to the experience. Everyone is always nice and orders are prepared quickly. My favorite thing to eat here are the breakfasts. On this trip, I ordered french toast with bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. My meal was cooked as requested and was so good I may return tomorrow! As with most coney islands, the menu includes a variety of items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cool, I sat at the counter since there's seats. Now when they say the dining area is closed, they don't even ask you if you want anything while you sitting there. Loved, loved, loved the food, service and prices! The food was amazing! Good ol' down home cooking and large servings! I had fried chicken and French toast (subbed for the waffle). Yummy! We had at our table catfish, an omelette, coney dog, fries with bacon and cheese, and Big breakfast meal that included ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast! It was all good! There were 5 pages of menu choices' The service was fantastic. Our server was very nice. They don't serve cold tea so she offered to make me some hot tea and put ice in it. This was a nice gesture. The prices were unbelievable for all the food we got. The dishes were under $10! It is a little, old, diner kind of place, but well worth it. I'm downright horrible at writing reviews. Just wanted to start with that. I went to this restaurant one day when I was in the area waiting on a store to open. I had actually driven a few miles in search of a coney island that would allow a sit down meal with a waitress and all. I didn't know what to expect but I found the staff friendly and the food was awesome. The BEST corned beef hash I have ever had. This isn't some crap out of a can. They grill up corned beef with fresh chopped onion and pepper and mix it with shredded hash browns; it is served with 3 eggs any style all for a damned reasonable price. I am glad I found this place. I have to drive farther than I would like to dine here but it is 100% worth it for their corned beef hash. read more

Different waitresses must make up their own rules. While I was there, their screen (displaying the menu) was down, and older couple asked for a minute and it took them a while to get them one. So long, that the couple order left without patronizing. I then asked for a menu and was promptly given one. I glanced over the menu to see what type of salads they provide for my daughter: I knew I was going to get my usual (grilled chicken pita deluxe) and instead of having cheese on my pita, I have them put it on my fries. Well, for some reason this particular waitress said that they weren't going to put the cheese on the fries. Well that definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, knowing that they did the exact request two days prior. Maybe today waitress were to lazy to figure out how to ring it. I shouldn't of even attempted to order after the response the initial received from them. Absolutely terrible customer service! My coworkers and I placed a large breakfast order worth over $125. When it was picked up, a few items were missing. When we called back, we got nothing but attitude and excuses. The young lady on the phone argued repeatedly and accused us of lying and trying to cheat them. Then the alleged owner got on the phone, barely listened, and then hung up. Easily the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Incredibly rude. This is one of the best Coney Island types around. Breakfast is out of this world. For lunch any of the burgers or sandwhich and fry combos will satisfy. I personally recommend the grilled chicken salad with their homemade ranch, which were a staple lunch for about 2 years for me. The homemade ranch is so good that I stopped ordering that salad when the girl who made the dressing went on vacation. I called every day from work until she came back to work. As with many (although it should be all) Coney Island type restaurants, value is the word at Royal Grill. You get a lot for a little. The food is always tasty and I think slightly above most other area coneys. But what sets Royal above the rest is the service. The ladies of RG are great! Always smiling, bubbly and attentive. And they get to know you as a regular. All the ladies know my usual and have gotten to know all my family too. It's not fine cuisine so don't expect the high end cuts of meat or five star presentation, but you will leave with your belly full and your pocket not so empty. This coney island is the only coney that i would recommend. I have had my fair share and I am in love with this place, not so much the help sometimes but i absolutely LOVE the food! The only bad thing would be that the girls behind the counter when you order are not always the best. The last time i went my whole order was wrong! I ordered a plain hotdog with ketchup and mustard for my son and a double bacon cheeseburger with no onions or lettuce for me. My son then blurted out that he wanted fries so i added fries. I received my food and was soooooo mad! (besides being really hungry). There were no fries (she didnt add them), there was lettuce and NO CHEESE on my double bacon CHEESEburger and my son had a chili dog with no ketchup or mustard! What did this girl do??!! When i called to speak with a manager, one of the girls acted as though the manager wasn't there, didn't want to give info about when he would be back and tried to say they would make it over. I was INFURIATED at her! I'm not trying to put anyone off from going because the food is really good, but just like anywhere else.... you never know what type of customer service you will encounter.
