I swear by Nikola's! This is THEE BEST restaurant in Southfield. My entire family loves dining here. The staff is always friendly and professional. Awesome food. Awesome family atmosphere. We ate here after my sister's graduation from nursing school. We literally walked out of another restaurant in Downtown Detroit after being ignored by waitstaff for 40 minutes and being forced to seat ourselves. I was told by the manager at Nikolas moments ago that there's no way that this chicken is not done. He tried to convince me that this is thoroughly cooked. I ordered the meal from Carryout when I arrived home I pulled the skin back on the leg and it was raw then I pulled the skin back on the breast it was raw also. When I returned to the restaurant I was told they would replace it with another meal I told them absolutely not; give me back my money. Nikola's seems to have been around for quite a while, as have most of the patrons. It was quite busy but likely because people were arriving for the Thursday night live jazz. I caught a bit of it and it was certainly interesting. But my focus tonight was on dinner, which was good. I had the half barbecue chicken, which was indeed tasty with a good sauce on it and the skin was good but the inside of the bird was a little dry. It needed the table sauce. For sides, the mac & cheese was pretty good. Firm noodles not dripping in cheese. The cole slaw was fair. Both were quite large portions. The slice of garlic bread was good but very oily. Went here celebrate 3 friends birthdays. If you have a large group, everyone must be there before you can be seated. I have been to this restaurant before, but this time it took a long time to be serviced. My friends and I waited a long time before we received our drinks. I'm not sure if they were short staffed but the waiter took had long periods of time before coming to our table. The waiter was nice and pleasant. I ordered the barbeque half chicken and salad for my side. The Greek salad dressing is the best Greek dressing that I have had. The chicken was pretty tasty as well. Like tremendous. Be prepared to either split a dish or take half of it home. Deli sized portions. I liked the food a lot, and all of my coworkers were impressed. I don't know what was wrong with that server that greeted me. She was very rude and I felt offended by her poor customer service skills. You don't treat nobody like that. When I first entered the restaurant I asked to dine in. This tall dark skinned chubby older lady with a wig on asked me if I would like the bar. I said no thank you, I will take a table instead. Then she took a couple more steps then sent me to a small seat section leaving me no room to sit and eat and then had the nerve to say " your welcome!" Loud in a very negative attitude type of voice, when I most definitely did not tell this woman "Thank you". That is a very rude type of way to treat a customer, the people across the table heard it and felt she was rude for it, and it was embarrassing. I don't know what was going on her life or troubles she was facing to come to work and have random attitudes with certain customers but regardless you don't bring them negative attitudes and vibes to your job. I felt offended and didn't say anything to her but went straight here to this comment section to give a review about her poor customer skills, and to let it be known about this because it is distasteful and disrespectful to guests coming to eat. This restaurant actually has good food, and good server's as well. But this woman I don't know her name but she most definitely needs to get her customer skills in tact instead of making random smart comments to people coming to spend their money and eat. Place has great size portions which are priced right and are very good. Visited this place twice - both for sad occasions. Each time we had half the restaurant and was not disturbed by other guests.
