Although DAP continues to come for weekly mowing, my other priorities have been overlooked. Instead of cutting or pulling vines, they have been weed whacked so for a while they're not visible. Weeds and vines are growing tall in ornamental plantings in front of the house and in cracks in the driveway and elsewhere. Vines are choking trees and bushes. And I have not seen evidence of any work other than mowing in the past few weeks. I have had to pull vines and weeds from around some important bushes, resulting in a case of poison ivy. Manny has rarely come with more than one helper and refuses to drop off a couple of men to work while he isn't here. If he does that for all his clients, there's no way he can keep up with the clients he has, let alone acquire new ones. He does seem to enjoy pruning and does an excellent job of it. Unfortunately, that is not a priority for me. Manny was very charming and engaging when I was a new customer. He was diligent. Now, not so much.

I hired Walter, as he told me he plowed for his brother (on my street) and a few other families in the neighborhood. Therefore, he said, he would always be available to help with my snow removal. I had found it difficult to find another snow removal service during Covid, so I hired him. Fast forward to today January 7 2022, first significant snow of the season. I had phoned Walter on 1/5/22 to ensure he was coming to plow and shovel. "No worry, I'll be there." Snow stopped at 8 a.m. I waited until 2 p.m. No Walter. I phoned his cell and his "office" (really his home, and spoke with his nice wife). I received the following Text msg at 2:33 pm: "You can call another person i am not available to go this time im not filling good I not want to go to your place like that I'm so sorry." All spelling errors are Walter's. WHAT? He didn't even have the bravery to phone me back. I don't believe his msg. for one moment. His wife never mentioned he was ill. And if he had been ill, he should have contacted me early this morning to make alternative arrangements (as if I could in the middle of a snow storm). He had already told me he would be bringing a companion. And I would not have been in physical contact with either of them. I shoveled as much as my 69 year old body would allow. I replied that I did want the driveway cleared. Shortly after the snow/sleet stopped, I received a text message that they were on the way. About 5 minutes later, the crew arrived and did a fantastic job of clearing our driveway and front path. They even salted where necessary. Then, about 1/2 hour later, a link to my invoice arrived by text message. A couple of clicks and the invoice (plus generous tip) was paid by credit card. Easy peasy. Highly recommend!!!
