This was my first time ordering from here. I waited a little while for my food but no longer than any other place I've ordered from. The delivery person called me before she came to my door to make sure she went to the right and one and to let me know she was there. I don't know why but I liked that a lot. The anticipation of a loud knock never sits well with me. Anyways, the food was incredible I just got a cheeseburger and mozzarella sticks and they tasted fantastic. The food is great, when they make it correctly. My burger was made wrong (delivery) and when I called the restaurant it took me 3 times to get through. Then the person proceeded to argue with me about what I ordered on my burger. Ordered take out was to be ready around 4:08. Arrived at 4:20 and the person ( young maybe 16 or 17 years old) at the counter asked my name for the take out. He was new & could not find my order. I sat down and was waiting for my food. the young worker was in the back an I thought they were making my order. After 3 people came in and received their orders while I Still Waited, I asked another worker when my order will be ready. He couldn't find it. I told him what I ordered and he had it sitting on a counter waiting for me. I was informed they only wrote down my last name. No apology. Handed me my now cold food. I told him they should have my last name. The work had a snide remark. I left and Will NEVER return. If you want a gyro that tastes like the metal they sliced it with, eat here. Honest to goodness the worst dining experience I've had with gyros. I decided to give them one last shot a few nights ago, awful idea on my part. Tasted like aluminum and gave me a stomach ache. So unless you're into cheap food that makes you sick, don't eat here. Decided to try this place for the first time.. Nothing good to say. My gyro burger was not made how it was ordered, and as it came, is really quite disgusting. The gyro we ordered came with absolutely nothing but a pita with meat and a container of sauce. I know I'm picky about gyros, but this was just awful. Watch out for the fries also, they come in a folded piece of paper and if you take it out of the bag thinking it's an actual fries container, you end up with food all over the floor. The place has a 1970's look to the dining room, but don't judge a book by its cover. They have the best gyros around. It has been a college staple for many years. This is my second time I have been here and look forward to returning. Very good! read more

I'm new to the Oshkosh area, and my family and I wanted to order in for dinner one night so we did a Google search. Nikos Gyros popped up for places to deliver. My roommate has never eaten a gyro before, so I convinced her to try something new. Now, I've had gyros before, but the gyro I had that night had to be the best gyro I've had since my first gyro. The amount of meat was perfect. The tzatziki sauce was delicious! We've eaten there twice now. The second time, I walked to their store and ordered our food. They were very friendly, and they also had good recommendations. I ordered the cajun fries and asked what they recommended to dip them in. Waited 20-25 minutes for a burger. Once they realized they messed up my order, I asked for extra ketchup and cucumber sauce, and he told me it was going to be an extra charge. greetings, i ordered my food over eat street at 10:38 pm. i ordered the gyro platter with fries, no tom, and extra sauce and jalopino poppers. i had to wait till 12.05till my food finally arrived. when i opened the bag the food was extremely cold and the extra sauce i ordered wasnt in the bag either. i took the food back to the restaurant to get a refund. when i arrived and said what i was there for the person at the front counter said " O.... its you" i had asked for my money back and instead they made me the food again. i told them again i don't want the food just my money back. the person at the front counter kept making excuses of why my order was wrong. i said no i don't want the food again and he said to just " take the fucking food" so i did. when i got home the order was wrong yet again. there where tomatoes on it no extra sauce and they did cheese curds instead of jalopino poppers.. i have had 2 other issues here before. i believe there needs to be a over haul on how the system is set up there so that no one else has to go through this as well. and the way they talk to customers is the reason i will no longer go to this place to eat. read more

I guess there is always a first time for everything. I have lived at my house for 8 years. I ordered Nikos at least 5 times a year. Big orders for a family of 5. Our food had always arrived HOT and FRESH. Until tonight. All the kids are gone and the hubs and I ordered just for ourselves. They were quick. Yes. However. This was the smallest Gyro we've ever received. The fries were cold and soggy. The pizza puff was soggy. So gross. We live less than half a mile away. We have ordered when the outside temperature was 30 below ZERO. And our food was always hot and fresh. So I call to complain and ask for the manager. Of course its Friday night so mgr not there. So I complain to the person who answered the phone. He took my name and number down and I told him that I would be calling every day until I was able to talk to mgr. The guy on the phone asked if I would be satisfied if he replaced our order with a fresh order. And I said yes as long as it was indeed hot and fresh. PROBLEM SOLVED and he turned a VERY UNHAPPY customer who would never go back after all these years, to a customer who is willing to give a 2nd chance at this and see what happens before I say NEVER AGAIN. So we think we are waiting for a fresh order and threw this awful, soggy, nasty and cold crap in the garbage and now we wait for our food. Again. A minute or 2 later my phone rings. Its Nikos ( I even HAD their number saved in my phone) I knew it was all bad and to keep from loosing my cool, had my husband answer the phone. It was the girl who delivered our food, which is now in the garbage, calling to argue and TELL US that our food was not cold and soggy. She then told my husband that if he would go to pick it up they would replace it but they wont bring it back out to us. A HALF A MILE AWAY AND WE PAID THERE LOUSY $2 DELIVERY FEE. WELL. As i stated earlier, the kids are gone tonight. We are in our pajamas. I am having a drink and WE ALREADY PAID FOR OUR FOOD THAT WAS COLD AND SOGGY AND THE PITA WAS SO TOUGH I COULD NOT BITE THROUGH IT. So. We did not go pick up the new order. Our food is in the garbage. We are still hungry. WE PAID FOR OUR FOOD AND THEIR DELIVERY FEE. And can only have it replaced if we go get it. I will be calling the manager and I will get my money back solely on principal ( I don't want the food now. I'm afraid my name is 'stared ' in their computer and could possibly be sabotaged in the future) I have NEVER had any nasty food or an unpleasant experience when ordering from Nikos. Until now. Placed an order through an online service, said order would be ready at 4:08 (half hour after placing the order). Arrived there at ~4:15, asked for our take out order, the guy couldn't find it and told us to wait, after half an hour of waiting and countless other customers ordering food and receiving their orders we asked again if our order was ready (almost 40 minutes after it was supposed to be ready) and the guy looked at an order that had been there since we got there and said yes, and that it had been ready for a long time (in a very rude tone). And instead of apologizing for making us wait that long because they couldn't read the name on their own order tickets, the guy told us that we were being condescending and in no way tried to see why we were a little upset. Long story short, their service was the shittiest service I've ever had and we got nothing but COLD AND SOGGY FOOD. I've lost all respect for Nikos. I wouldn't be writing this review if they would have apologised, but evidently saying sorry is not part of their customer service, but being rude a-holes is. read more

We're out of the Chicago area, and moved to Oshkosh in Spring of 2016. We'd thought we'd never again have real gyros sandwiches, but found a couple of places here in town. One is a tavern that sells authentic meat, but the sandwiches are pretty poor: not good sauce. However, the best place is Nikos Gyros. We gave it a try when we got here, and lo-and-behold, it's great! There's plenty of meat, and it's very close to the top grade mixture (there are three grades). Very meaty texture and taste, excellent seasonings, and the bread is good. We'll maybe get some extra sauce, but that's another fine thing about this place -- they have very good Tsatziki sauce. You can order a sandwich or dinner plate, or you can order just meat or just sauce or bread, and build your own. Prices are very reasonable, and sometimes there are coupon deals. We got one of their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and that was terrific as well. You'd never think that such an out-of-the-way place, both as Oshkosh and also the physical restaurant location would have gyros of all things! Not particularly a restaurant, more of a take-out place with some diner-like tables. So what? We just order ahead, pick it up, go home and pig out. Really good stuff! read more
