Company hosted a large group dinner here. There must have been a headcount misunderstanding because we didn't have enough seating initially. Once that was resolved, the rest of the night was a delicious experience. Given lamb is the spotlight at Apollon, the entree decision was what TYPE of lamb dish to order. The server did not steer me wrong by recommending the lamb tenderloin saffron. He said it was so tender, it could pass for beef. He also suggested medium rare. He was absolutely right on both counts. This was one of the best lamb entrees I've had in a long time. I would put Apollon on my "revisit" list next time I'm in town again because this was a top notch dinner and a lovely surprise to find in downtown Appleton. read more

Walking by and decided to try on a whim - said we didn't have reservations but could they handle a two-top? Immediately seated! Nice place, comfortable decor, not brightly lit but just right - not too dark to see your food like Lombardi's. Had a glass of wine, wife ordered a martini, both excellent. Served house-made bread chunks with a hummus dip, very good! Soup and salad very enjoyable, I tried both of the house-made salad dressings, they are nice. Entrees very good. I'm very picky so I'd say my salmon was very slightly overcooked, but well within acceptable range. I completely cleaned my plate! Service was good, not perfectly polished but pleasant. My wife brought me to Apollon this past Saturday for dinner that turned out to be a surprise birthday event. Apollon is a very nice restaurant with ample parking in back. The interior is well maintained and decorated exquisitely. Our waiters were fantastic! Jay was spot on and very attentive to everyone's needs including my friend's young son with autism. Our evening was flawless and the food was delicious and perfect. I love lamb and there were more lamb dishes than I expected. We will definitely be going back again. Apollon Apollon was a fantastic experience! To start - the hospitality was great. We went on a Thursday night, made a reservation in advance (not necessary), and were seated immediately. The restaurant was quite full. Our waiter was fantastic. Walked us through the menu, was not rushing us in anyway, and made great recommendations. I was with two others and we were quite hungry. An appetizer would have been great, but we did not choose one. The entrees come with a soup and salad. The soup is a mainly broth and a little lemony . It was very good. The salad was the perfect size and was fantastic with the two dressings. My entree was the Mixed Grille (incredible) and the other dishes were the shrimp Santorini and the chicken roulade espanaki. These were the perfect size where you were full and no food went to waste! The flavors were amazing, the prices were solid, and the atmosphere was cute! Definitely will come back! read more

We had a very good server who gave us nice recommendations for wine and food. Everything we had here was DELICIOUS!! The squid was the best I ever had. We all got different lamb dishes which were all really yummy. However, we all felt the rack of lamb won. Our server was very attentive and gave us recommendations and explained each dish in detail so we knew exactly what we were getting. They served us in courses with perfectly portioned soup and salad which allowed us to build up to our main course. This place so deserves its top rating. We had made reservations well in advance- a must for a Saturday night. I explained that I was in a wheelchair and might need assistance. When we arrived we were greeted by Kelly who was very accommodating and helpful. They had a well located table for us so I could be comfortable. We started with a Greek rise wine which was very nice. We were offered a taste to make sure we liked it. Everything on the menu sounded fantastic, but my husband already knew his favorite dish- lamb a la creme. I had the triumph of the sea which had salmon, scallops and shrimp. Both fishes were outstanding and also came with a delicious Greek lemon soup and a salad with creamy feta and red wine dressing. This is the best Greek restaurant in the Midwest! The dolmades actually have meat in them and are served on a bed of egg lemon sauce. Dinners come with a delicious cup of egg lemon soup, a tasty fresh Greek salad with two cruets to mix one another , one with feta cream and the other with a tasty vinegarette. Also the meals are served with a basket of bread and a small bowl of humus. Wow, so far all very gourmet, made from scratch with wonderful fresh ingredients. Next a dish of almost al dente, barely cooked vegetables arrived: asparagus, broccoli, carand a musroom Rice which was a special addition tonight. All this and we have yet to make it to our main courses. The first main course was chunks of lamb in a creamy feta etc cheese sauce and the second main course a chicken dish stuffed with feta and spinach. This all added up to a wonderful meal, so carefully and succulently prepared. If we didn't live 60 miles away we would try everything on the menu for a month. Rebecca was a top notch waitress. Absolutely love Apollon! Anytime I've got a someone coming in from out of town and want a nice sit-down dinner, I bring them to Apollon. It's also a great place to come before a show at the PAC. There's a great variety of foods at all price points, so there's something for everyone. The saganaki is always impressive, and the three-course with the soup and salad really hits the spot. I could honestly go there and just eat a meal-size portion of the soup and salad! Plus if you have any questions the servers as so knowledgeable. Went there for my Birthday dinner and what an amazing meal! I had the mixed grill (surf and turf) with lamb in a balsamic reduction sauce, 2 HUGE prawns and 2 scallops in a lobster sauce. Every time we eat at Apollon the food and service are always outstanding. Every time. I enjoyed watching the flaming cheese presentation at other tables and the delicious flaming rack of lamb presented to me. The service is always friendly, helpful and efficient. The menu is broad enough so I can enjoy different foods to try each visit. Based on Yelp reviews, my wife and I were excited to eat at the Apollon prior to a PAC show. The location, just a few blocks from the PAC, was ideal. The Good: The service was outstanding. The wait staff is knowledgable, helpful, and unobtrusive. Waitress at our table was able to recite ingredients and preparation method, and was prompt when we needed/wanted something, but stayed out of the way. Note - the restaurant will tell you that this is a dining experience that will last two to 2 1/2 hours, so if you want fast dining, this is not the place. But who would want fast dining when you can share good food and good company. The Bad. The food was very uneven. For the appetizer, my I ordered the Spanakopitakia, and wife ordered the Saganaki. The Saganaki was flamed at the table (did I mention great service!) and was good (as anticipated. The Spanakopitakia (miniature spinich pies) was ok, but only ok. While traditionally (and in the description) the filling is spinich with feta cheese, the feta was either well hidden (to the point that it could not be tasted), or was missing. Either way, this was quite a disappointment. The soup that came with the meal was salty to the point that it overpowered the soup. One taste was enough to know that someone was not tasting the soup before it came out. The salad that came with the meal was simple and carelessly thrown together. For the entre, my wife ordered the Moussaka. This was expected to be flavorful and we were excited to try it. The Moussaka was bland to the point of being unedible. We asked to have the chef check the flavor profile, and never heard back. It was truly a terrible approximation of Moussaka. On the other hand, my Lamb Chateaubriand Forestiére was excellent. Cooked perfectly to order, the sauce was flavorful and delicious. There were only a few mushrooms (I prefer more, but this may be the intended style), but the meal was delicious. On the other hand, it is quite difficult to mess up a broiled loin of lamb. The real disappointment is that it appears that the chef was too busy or could not be bothered to taste the food before it was sent out. There is no chef in a good restaurant who would have sent out a soup where all ingredients are hidden by overpowering salt taste, or a moussaka that was so bland that no flavors could be tasted at all. (Think - nursing home bland). Would that we could have magically moved some of the salt of the soup to the Moussaka, but it was not to be. It was too bad that the food did not match the attentive and friendly service personnel. We shall not return. read more

My favorite place in Appleton! All the food has been consistently wonderful. Staff is always on point and I don't see a lot of turn over in servers. Some of them have been there many years and always recognize me and people from my usual groups of friends. The drink menu and wine list are superb. The after dinner drink and dessert options are heavenly. The cuisine is the exclusive, nothing else like it in our area; and the fine dining experience is also second to none. We've done a couple fixed menu/reservation only events and were very happy with the off menu items and efficiency in service when a couple of these events were a new process to them. We looked forward to a great meal, but were slightly disappointed. Our server was less than attentive, as we had to ask for water refills, silverware, etc.. and his name. We saw other severs much more engaged. The salad was extremely wet, so the dressing flavor did not shine through. The soup, although tasty, had overcooked orzo pasta. Lastly, the menu prices were not what our bill was presented with. Our servers response was well it's just a couple dollars... if we were informed of price changes prior to ordering it would have been fine. I just wonder how many others paid more??? read more

The server was amazing, super attentive, she came over every 5 mins or so, and was so informative and charming, even though me and my father aren't much of talkers. Apollon is a greek/mediterranean restaurant located one block from College Ave in downtown Appleton. We use to go to Apollon once a week because a consultant in our group was crazy about this spot. He loved the flaming cheese app and the flaming rack of lamb. When you walk into Apollon, you are greeted by the owner who's also the host. You are taken to your seat and quickly greeted by your server. George is normally our server - he is polite and know the menu extremely well and will give you his honest opinion if you ask. You are started off with an Avgolemeno (egg lemon) soup made with a chicken broth, egg, lemon and orzo pasta. A greek salad follows with two different dressings - they normally recommend mixing the dressings. Then your entree is brought out... I have had the filet mignon au chocolat, the regular filet mignon and the Mediterranean grouper. All three were very good. Entrees run you between $22-34 which is actually a really good price for a three course meal. We are normally here Monday-Wednesday but it does get busy so I definitely recommend making reservations if you are coming on the weekend. read more
