Old Mission Park is well known for the yellow flowers that bloom during the spring. It makes a perfect background for a photographers floral or dreamy theme. During this time, the park is known to be especially crowded, so be on the look for parking when you arrive. Besides a scenic background, the park offers a play structure for kids and a decent sidewalk trail around the area. A lot of people can be seen walking their dogs or elderly couples taking a walk. There is also a spacious grass area where people can be spotted having picnics or playing games like soccer. Compared to other parks, this one is rather spacious in comparison. During the daytime, I feel quite safe here. But I am uncertain if this place is safe at night. I've never been here at night except to watch the sunset and then leave. This park also offers a lovely view of the sunset, but if you want an even better view then I would suggest heading to Ohlone campus. read more

Closest Park near to my home. Small but very good recreational spot. Play area for kids, basketball court, picnic areas, walking trails, playground. Perfect place for a family to spend some leisure time. I normally go here for walking. I use the trail and walk around. Good for a cardio exercise with all the up and downs on that trail. Sometimes it's quite windy at the top. Kids have 2 different play areas, based on the age group. For small one is for the toddlers. It has the small play structure, slides and swings. The surface is cushioned to prevent injuries. The bigger won is for 5+ kids. It's challenging and kids do enjoy the play areas. Couple of basket ball courts, but always crowded. Don't think there's an option to block it. It looks like, it's first come first serve basis. NormaLly don't see many using the grass field. We play soccer or frisbee there. Evenings perfect for that. Picnic area is also very useful. We did couple of birthday parties there. With the play areas near by, it's so much fun for the kids. The park is always clean, never seen it the other way. They had issues with the bathrooms in the past, but now they fixed that too. Limited parking is an issue, especially in Summer time. Otherwise you will find enough parking all the time! It's a well maintained and useful park in the Fremont Mission area. Stop by this place to check it out when you are around this area! read more

This place is also called "Cancer Park" by students in this area because of all the satellite poles looking above. I bet it's pretty scary at night since you can hear the electricity running through above you! But once you conquer your fears, you'll have a great time here! This place is great for everyone- especially families with little kiddos! There are two playground sets here, with lots of sand! (Not sure if that was completely necessary.) There is also a basketball court here, so bring your friends here to play some ball! Parking is pretty spacious from the back, so if you didn't walk here, head on to the back and park your car! There are public stalls here too! Overall, the dead grass near the sign up front is deceiving of the fun that can be created here. read more

I'm always on a hunt for different parks in the area for my kids. I honestly have a mental list of parks I love taking them to -- that are not so crowded/well known. I was coming from Great Mall (along 680) going home to Fremont and wanted to stop by a park to let my kids release some energy. I came across Old Mission park. It had a sad 7 reviews and 1 simple picture. I decided to go to it due to the amount of "green" I saw from the map view! LOL Surprise, surprise!! It's a great park! Good parking, large picnic a spots, 2 full basketball courts and 2 play structures, all within a common area. Def adding this to my list of parks to go too.. (Attached some pics.) Enjoy! read more

Used to live around this park, and took casual walks down here. The equipment and grassy plains with a few stops were fun to be in. Will always go there, now and then! I recommend this place! P.S Nice view... we can see sunsets and highways with a peek of Mission Peak! read more

Old Mission Park is a small park situated in between the suburbs area and next to the Fire Station on Paseo Padre. This park has a couple of basketball courts, two playgrounds, public restroom, big grass field area, and a small trail to walk around the park. This park isn't anything too exciting or great since I think it is just there to serve the local neighborhoods, not to be a city park. Back in high school, we used to have a lot of class meetings or come here to watch friends play basketball. I've never seen this park too crowded, which is good. If you just want to go to the park to bring your little kids or dogs, this is a good one if you live nearby it. There is a "trail" that goes around the perimeter of the park, and part of the trail goes from the top of the hill that the park is on, to the bottom. So it's almost like a super mini hike for you and your dog. I like taking my small puppy here since it's a short but sweet walk. I don't really like taking her to Lake Elizabeth since there's so many people there and she goes kind of nutso where there's a lot of people. read more

There hasn't been a day where I've seen any of the basketball courts empty. It's great to still see teens and young adults play the game on the court outside, and I always love passing through. I go on a run daily and this park is always my first check point! It is very quaint; there's two basketball courts, two playground areas, a separate men's and women's bathroom, small picnic table area, a small field off to the side (where I run around), and if you walk on the sidewalk, there's a path that leads you up to the top of the hill you're on. (Excuse my extremely run-on sentence) It's also a plus that the bathroom's usually clean (for the women's, at least). Anyway, love this park! read more

I was trying to change up the park scene for my little one. There are 2 playgrounds, one for toddlers on the lower level and one for bigger kids as you go up the stairs. We went on a Sunday late morning and it wasn't overrun with kids and parties like Newark Park on Cedar, I'm sure because it's atop a hill in the middle of a residential area. She enjoyed both play areas but it seemed like going up and down the stairs connecting the playgrounds was much more appealing for her. Even though it was an overcast day, you can tell it has some great views of the bay. I'm not sure if this would be a park that we'd regularly include in our park rotation since it's a farther trek from home but it's nice to know it's there. read more

Definitely my favorite park in Fremont. It's somewhat private, yet safe. Good place to come in the evening to shoot some hoops or take a walk around. I recommend coming here on the weekdays. It's really packed on the weekends. read more

I walk through Old Mission Park often for exercise and the scenery. It is a great place that is very family friendly and is always very clean and well kept. It is a nice little green belt at the base of old Mission pick that has basketball courts, picnic areas and a playground area with well-kept restrooms. There's a concrete trail that walks through a small circuit giving small goals and exercises along the way that is very helpful complete with simple bars for light weight or heavy workouts. I always feel very safe in this area. read more

I really like this park! It has all the essentials of a park: playground, basketball courts, a big patch of grass, BBQ pits, and bathrooms. In general, the park is pretty clean too. I've come here as a kid to play in the playground, as a teenager to practice sports, and as a young adult for BBQ. Great little cozy park! read more

This park is fantastic it gets really busy right around the time school lets out because lots of parents like to pick their kids up from this park. There are bathrooms at this park. This park has two playgrounds both of which are fantastic and suitable for kids up to about age 6 or 7. There's a double-wide basketball court with four hoops. There's usually plenty of parking. You get a beautiful view of Mission Peak. I would definitely recommend this park. read more

Small but great park!! I do not live in the area but everyone who does is sure lucky to have this park nearby. Probably one of the cleanest parks I've been to. Spacious parking, restrooms, clean pavement to run with lots of strength training stations along the route, 2 playgrounds, a very nice basketball park, and at the top of the hill there are lots of tables for picnics. Also, all of the water we're trying to conserve probably went to these hills because they have the most green, luscious grass I've seen since our drought lol. I would say the trail that circles the hill is a bit short of a mile, but it's a good run because there is some incline that adds difficulty and you can also break through different paths for variety. I came around 4pm on a Wednesday and it was not crowded at all. read more

This park is great exercise place for mission neighborhood. My kids can ride bike safely in the circle lane design. Playground set up is pretty kids friendly too. Plus bathroom is conveniently located close by. Only concern is the garbage left from someone stay late in the night. Necessary management needs to be enforced. read more

I Basically grew up around this park! Love this park. the only real downside to it is the nickname to this park is Cancer park... ill let you think about that one for a bit. as I grew up swimming for the US Swim Team Mission San Jose Aquatics up at Ohlone. We used to always have these potlucks and team functions at this park so i remember all the friends, the food and the fun at this park. As i grew older it was more about the basketball courts. i try to hit this park up every other weekend or so as there always is an awesome showing of some basketball heads playing hard games of pick up. matter fact i just went there last saturday and played basketball for 3 hours straight because my team simply could not lose. haha i will continue going to this park to play basketball as the competition is always one of the best! read more

This place is great for people of all ages. I love seeing elderly couples walking around here together, and seeing kids running around while their parents talk to each other. It's also cool to see some teenagers and people in their early 20's coming here to play basketball or just kind of sit and chill. read more
