I like to avoid chains at all costs and support local businesses, so this came up when the boys said they were jonesing for wings. Really cute place in a residential neighborhood. We ordered Buffalo wing bites and mozzarella sticks. Good flavor & tasty with a nice amount of heat. (I lived in Western NY for years - I know my wings!) They were generous with the ranch dressing as well. (My kid doesn't like blue cheese dressing - weirdo!) Good mozzarella sticks had that Gen Z-pleasing "cheese-pull!" So, my daughter raved and recommended the chicken bites at Nina's. We ordered to pick up on our way to the establishment. The chicken bites have a number of sauces, and my daughter ordered garlic Parmesan. I ordered the sweet and spicy because I didn't hear all of the flavors as the young lady on the phone quickly went through the list. We arrived at a cute and clean local pizza place and gave our name for the pick up order. The place was empty, but busy with phone orders and a few people that stopped in to pick up their orders. On the way back to my daughter's house, we stopped at Walmart and I picked up a salad to accompany my chicken bites... Now for the intel... for $7, you get a container filled to the gills with bite-sized pieces of chicken that are fried but not heavily breaded. The sauces elevate the meat and keep the bites somewhat moist. The sweet and spicy sauce was okay (not spicy enough for me), but the garlic Parmesan was kickassssssss!!!! The garlic was pronounced and I could smell it before I put it in my mouth. Delicious! I now know what to ask for when I visit. The portions are big, and the chicken bites are great. In the future, I will try other sauces on the menu and have a feeling that Nina's will be my go-to place when I am in Scranton. read more

I don't mind paying a bit extra for better quality. However that being said, one order of limited time pumpkin wing bites with celery and blue cheese is now over $18. What used to be a decent place for pizza and wing bites has been reduced to poor products at a high price. -Hot Wing Pizza ($23): Plain crust with light sauce, cheese, and shredded chicken. Hot was selected but the flavor lacked. I had to add sauce. Metallic taste from chicken, maybe canned? Filling-yes. Worth the price-Not even close! -Square half plain and half pepperoni w/sweet sauce ($18.50): Plain crust, heavy sauce with metallic sweet taste, uneven distribution of cheese, limited pepperoni, sprinkling of oregano for appearance (didn't help the flavor) Nina's is not what it was. My last review was a weak one that I left probably while I was bored during an internship. I was so many years detached from the restaurant that it wasn't really fair to leave it with such scant details. Recently, I had the chance to try Nina's again during my NEPA pizza tour and I view the restaurant more favorably, though with more specific criticism. Their NY style pizza is pretty good. Nice cheese blend, sauce is fine--the complaint everyone at my table had was that the crust was too firm. Not overcooked, just the bottommost layer was hard. We really needed to rip into it with our teeth, which was almost a nonstarter for the 90-year-old at the table. [Less than ten minutes passed between me being handed the pizza and my serving it to my family.] Despite the minor infraction, the sausage and pepper pizza was among the best I've had in the area. Really generous portioning of the sausage which was decent quality. The Old Forge style was also totally fine and we enjoyed it. So why 3 stars? For a place known for wings (which I despise as a food group), the hot wing pizza doesn't hold up. There was an ample amount of chicken but there was no care in how it was portioned. Some pieces of pizza had two chunks of chicken, others paved with chicken such that they were difficult to eat. The chicken quality was very low. I am sorry to say it but you could taste that chemical/frozen aftertaste with every bite. I just reheated 3 pieces for lunch to make sure and I had trouble eating any pieces I plucked from the pizza and tried to eat individually. Most of them don't even look appetizing. I had to spit out some of the chunks because they contained gristle. For $21 considering the quality of chicken they're using, the hot wing pizza is kind of embarrassing. My advice is to buy a tray from Samario's in comparison and see what conclusions can be reached among those drinking kool-aid. read more

One word to describe Nina's is inconsistent. They never fail to either forget to give you blue cheese or tell you the food will be ready in 30 minutes when in all actuality they have it ready in 15 minutes and it's ice cold by the time you get home. One time I ordered an Italian hoagie, got home and took a bite out of it and there was no meat on it. I called them back and they told me to bring it back and they would make me a new one. So I drove all the way back, and 10 minutes later I got the hoagie. When I got home it was the same bun with the bite missing with meat on it. If you are looking for a "hot" wing sauce, they do not have it. You order hot and always get medium. read more

Their food is okay but their customer service is non-existent. I sent this on 3 days ago in response the the "thank you" email I received and have yet to receive a reply. Had the cheesesteak hoagie for lunch. At first, I was impressed by its gargantuan size. It was absolutely huge. However, when I unwrapped it, I was quickly disappointed. First, the filling was not enough for the amount of bread. Second, the steak was just unseasoned minute steak that wasn't even chopped up, but laid flat on the bread and a slice of American cheese on it. It was bland and disappointing. Would not order again. This is one of my two favorite places for boneless wings. Simply awesome and delicious. I'm super picky, so I don't understand why people don't like these and leave bad reviews. The boneless bites are lightly breaded and cooked to perfection every time. One thing to keep in mind though, is that they will be less crispy if you take them to go. If you eat them there fresh, they will be hot and crispy and that's how I typically eat mine. I love the hot sauce and the mild is really excellent too. The white pizza is awesome and so are both the round and square varieties of red pizza. As mentioned in previous reviews, the subs are HUGE, so be careful how you order. The regular wings are pretty good too, but I prefer other establishments for regular wings, however Nina's is my favorite for boneless. Disappointed. I asked for lightly cooked an I got a burnt pizza. I got there and half if my order was ready but my pizza was not so I waited in the place for 20 minutes til I got my pizza. Then when I explained to them I asked for lightly cooked and not burnt she asked if I asked an I said yeah. She told me that the reason it burns like that is because they use American cheese. Which I don't understand I've never had American cheese on any pizza I've ever eaten it's always been mozzarella. VERY DISAPPOINTED. We are consistent Nina's customers and the past few times we have ordered it has been horrible and the customer service has been unacceptable. Our order tonight was missing cheese on fries and they were raw. When we call to discuss it we were told we can have a "$1.00" refund for the cheese and the girl on the phone (britni) was extremely rude. I've loved Nina's my whole life. It was my favorite stop for some really good wing bites, among other things. The past two times i've gotten takeout, I am on hold FOREVER - and that's no exaggeration. I've called and waited fifteen minutes just to hang up and call fifteen minutes later and hold even longer on the phone. I understand busy hours have longer hold times but a half hour wait just to order?? They don't manage busy hours well - I am always on hold for at least ten minutes. I had ordered two orders of mild wing bites - i got home and opened it up to find dry wing bites. I do think expanding their restaurant has caused some discrepancies along the way. read more
