Lovely Christian lady, of Burmese heritage, proud of her food & rightly so. Let her tell you what's good bc she's right: oh, her Spicy Noodles!!! Clean establishment -- carry out or some outdoor seating. We didn't call ahead, so she mentioned the pinball business next door -- it's so clean & has 80+ machines from way back, veritable museum. The interior is simple and plain. I enjoyed the warm and Christian based family focused artwork on the walls. My assumption is that the majority of business is carry out. The real treat was the extremely fresh tasting meal on our first try here. We had the Basil Beef, Fried Noodles with spicy chicken, Dumplings and Egg Rolls. We ordered 'level 1' heat and probably wouldn't go any higher. The entrees consisted of an enormous amount of food for $8. Hidden gem! I don't normally write reviews, but this place deserves all the 5 stars. Great service, super quick. There aren't places to sit inside, but that's fine. We got the spicy chicken noodles and egg rolls, WOW. So delicious. The chicken has such good flavor and just the right amount of spice, and the sauce for the egg rolls is to die for. We haven't eaten in a restaurant in months thanks to Covid but we do carry out a lot. So much so in fact that in search of something different we travelled from Roanoke all the way to Huntertown to try a different version of pad Thai. As we were driving into the parking lot and saw the dinky little restaurant sandwiched between other strip mall joints, I muttered "this better be good after driving 40 minutes". But as we pulled up a friendly young man ran out to our car to help us and within minutes we had dove into our food and we're amazed at how delicious it was. The spicy chicken noodles was one of the best meals we have had all year! The samosas were fried to a crispy excellence and we fought over the three that we bought. We highly, highly recommend this place for carry out. We will make this a regular rotation as it is definitely worth the drive for that spicy chicken. read more

I really want to like this place. In fact, before writing this review I intentionally went back on three different days and ordered three different things to make sure my initial thoughts were confirmed. So here goes. This is basically a carryout place. There used to be a couple of tables, but those are gone in favor of a few tall chairs sitting along the window at a bar. The Thai / Burmese menu is very limited and features a few regular dishes and then a few seasonal options. Prices are under $10 for entrees and the appetizers are all reasonably priced as well. There is no soda fountain, but instead just bottled drinks (which by the way are not very cold). Among the entrees that I tried, the chicken basil was by far the best. The pad Thai and famous noodles were very bland as in very little flavor. The bites of chicken had flavor, but the overall dishes needed more spice. My other big complaint was that although the dishes were HUGE, in all cases they consisted of mostly noodles or rice. The carry out comes in a large styrofoam container with a banana leaf on the bottom, a huge heaping portion of rice or noodles, and then a modest amount of the meat and veggies. By the time you eat the entree, you are left with loads of noodles or rice. In the case of the chicken basil w/rice, the sauce was more plentiful than in the noodle dishes which made the leftover rice good. Not so much with the noodle dishes. I actually came home and stirred in my own sauce. The appetizers (when they are available) are all very good including the dipping sauce. Overall this place is worth a try, but be prepared for lots of rice or noodles in the dishes. Also in the case of the chicken basil be aware that the chef has a heavy hand with the onions which may not suit some folks. I will most likely go back because I believe it is important to support small family-run businesses, especially in small towns, and the food is different than what is available at other places. read more

I would like to highlight that the owner uses only high quality products such as organic chicken and organic veggies, Texmati rice, non-GMO beef and NO MSG!! She has a large open kitchen and small but clean and cozy dining area. Highly recommend anyone who wants to try Burmese food :) read more

Excellent home style Thai/Burmese set within a nondescript group of little businesses in Huntertown. 5 stars for food but only 3 for atmosphere; Nine House seems to be predominantly a restaurant for take-out and catering. I ate in and had a very nice beef w/ basil Thai stir fry. But the highlight was a Burmese coconut curry noodle soup that was amazing: an incredible depth of flavor finished with a squeeze of fresh lime to brighten the whole dish. Don't miss the homemade garlicky hot sauce! This is a relatively new start up that, according to the extremely affable owner/chef, will be putting together a full menu and website in the next month or so. Put it on your radar. read more
