Hows this I made an appointment and was hoping to take a break from working from home to get my nails done for an hour. However, I was upset that I had wait 40 minutes. I was between the main nail technician Grace and the other nail technician. Grace was personable and talkative and did a great job. She had the other technician work on my cuticles when she worked on someone's pedicure. She was nice but didn't seem as experienced. Horrible place.. the only reason why I went was because I saw they had a special for a mani-pedi for $35. But i wanted a french mani-pedi. I ended up paying $65 plus tip for little stupid add ons. I went on Friday during lunch time so it wasn't that busy, the place looked mediocre. Anyhow a Hispanic lady did my pedi. It was ok, not the best. The door was open so flies were all over the place and I was super annoyed because I had to keep shooing them away.. it was not relaxing at all. I couldn't relax. Smh. And then i needed a replacement nail because one of my real nails broke and I wanted a replacement so they can all be the same length, i have natural long nails. The Hispanic lady didn't know how to do it so the Asian lady that sits in the first seat did it.. I had to wait about 20min for her to even get started.. she was very careless and the way she was painting my nails was messy and rushed. 2 hours later i left disappointed. The next day one of my nails already chipped. So now I have to spend more money just to fix it and disrupt my day at another salon. I am super annoyed that 2 hours later I spent that much money for a trash job. I had SUCH an amazing experience here! I came in with the worst set of nails from pans nail salon a few blocks away. I was the only one in the nail salon and Grace, the owner was so kind. She spent a full two hours on my nails past closing time. She kept asking about me like she genuinely wanted to get to know me! She really worked so hard to make my nails perfect and it was honestly the best set of tips I've ever gotten. She cut my cuticles which pans didn't do and made sure to have no overlap on my fingers.The clear tips are great quality! The woman Grace made judgmental comments when my mother was getting a pedicure and asked very personal private questions for everyone to hear, it was rude and not relaxing at all. My mother was really uncomfortable. The woman who did my manicure (had glasses and a short boy haircut) rushed through it, didn't offer any massage like she did the other clients who walked in after me, and never said anything when I thanked her. She looked annoyed like she didn't want to do my manicure in the first place. But she had no problems saying thank you three times to another lady smiling and buttering her up right in front of me. I asked another technician if the massage was free and part of the manicure, she said yes so immediately I thought it was strange that not only was my tech massaging the lady next to me for the same service, but her mood seemed different. I have worked around the corner from here for about 14 years and have been going here on and off that long. I am not on a regular schedule but definitely stop in at least every couple of months usually for a mani and pedi. This place is laid back and no frills. What really keeps this my fav from others is they give the longest massages during pedicures! It's seriously the best. I also love Grace, although all the ladies there are great. I had walked in and asked for powder gel and Grace was able to take me. I have been doing powder gel for about two years now and I knew that something was wrong. I asked for a white color and as she was putting on the top coats and then dipping my nails into the powder, they weren't sticking to my nails. My nails looked sheer and she made me go dry my nails under the dryer when I have NEVER ever dried my nails under a dryer when getting powder gel. I asked her to take it off because my nails looked crappy and possibly ruined. She made me PAY $45 for the powder gel and to take it off. I will NEVER EVER go back to this place ever again. Wife told me don't worry they are attachable nails meaning they glue plastic nail frames then use acrylic. So it should be fast . The lady must had heard her cause she took 3hours to attach them then she put so much acrylic my wife nails where as thick as yellow phone books. So now she has to shave them down since they are noticeable thick. And left one side more slanted then the other. One of her nails was more of a hook then the rest . My wife has nails look like the guy handson fingers from scary movie 2. Look it up if you need a visual image. Then after the 3-1/2 hours they tell my wife they can't make the nail color fade so she has to change color and they point at the nail paint and tell her any color pick and say we recommend gel it will look nice (the up sale of course) after we are done they want to charge $114.00 $75 for nails and $35 gel .after we told them they couldn't do the original job and they told us to pick a gel . The worst job I have seen her get. San Francisco much more expensive charge 60$ and a known nail salon in Vegas charge $70 . Yet this dump witch horrible work and charge almost double and take forever to get done. Half way through my manicure the nail tech left me to go wax a woman who had just walked in the door and left me sitting there nails on one hand half done the other not touched at all for 30 MINUTES. I sat there and waited for 30 minutes so she could wax a lady who JUST walked in! So unprofessional. She then told me I'd get a discount but I still ended up paying $65 (originally it was meant to be $80) but I highly doubt I received any discount at all. And when she did finally come back she didn't even do a good job on them. She's didn't shape them at all and the polish was applied so thickly that there are bumps and lumps all over my nails. Owner acted like she was doing me favor saying she would do it for free. Gel manicures in the past have always lasted 2 weeks. As I was getting nails done she whispered in my ear, "I do for free, just tip like $10 at least". Felt this was very rude. Very unprofessional. The asian women in charge makes unnecessary comments and talks about customers in her language. I used to go there because the Latina girls were nice and friendly but Grace is so unprofessional. I was waiting to get my nails and pedi done one day and she kept taking people before me and when I said something, that i was next and have been waiting she got really nasty with me told me I had to wait and started talking in korean about me. Shes lucky I kept my cool and didn't complain to her manager. I will never step foot in there again. I hate that place. They need classes in etiquette in business. Grace is the worst one there. The salon might not look like some of the super "posh" salons around here but each time I've gone my gel nails come out flawless and last for 2+ weeks. I usually only have to get them done again because my nails have grown so much they they start to look bad. Call the Board of Health on Nine Nail!!!! Okay, was my 4th visit to this salon and I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but this time was the final straw. Not only is this establishment filthy, but the main nail tech does a rush job & talks a good talk if it's ultra crowded or you have to wait a long time for a tech. It's ridiculous. During my last visit I got a manicure & a used/dirty pedicure callous razor equipment with somebody's heel skin hanging off of it was sitting on my manicure table. I wanted to puke!!! The main tech lady gave me a record-breaking 10 minute manicure & almost filed my sensitive finger nails down to the first layer. She pushed back my cuticles so hard that I wanted to scream: "SLOW DOWN LADY & be gentle!!!" This is supposed to be an enjoying & stress free experience, which is was NOT. It's very obvious that they want to give you a rush job, charge you $$ and get ya the heck out the door. The place is a hole in the wall, no-frills. It definitely needs to be renovated. Especially new pedicure stations. They look like dirty toilet bowls. Today, I went in thinking positive & initially went in for a mani/pedi. I soon changed my mind on the pedicure chair when (again) head nail tech lady grabbed me & rushed my entire pedicure and then to top it off left me for 10 minutes to do an eyebrow wax on another lady who walked right in & didn't have to wait. They show favor some clients & it's just not right or fair. They don't know how to run a business properly here. For $26 plus tax (which is silly.) I expect a calm, enjoyable & fully pampered experience. This is not that place for that. WHAM BAM is more like it. YUCK!!!!! When my pedicure was done, I told her I didn't want my manicure & you can tell she was turned off. So much so that she didn't even lead me to the dryer station. I went myself & turned on the pedicure dryer. She then ran over to me 5 minutes later & gave me a Hulk Hogan neck massage that was such a turn off. There was also a sign hanging on the mirror advertising Green Tea pedicures with hand written notes that stated: SP (Spa Pedi) WHIT 20 minute massage. WHIT...oh, you mean WITH!!! Learn how to spell first before posting. Just Google it ladies. I told them, out loud that they need to fix the spelling on the sign & all of the nail techs ignored me. "CRICKETS CHIRPING" Please, go to another nail salon in the neighborhood. This shouldn't even be an option. This is the worst experience I had. I had a lady named Lisa, she stared and peered at me the entire time angry and mumbling, and I have no idea why. I was very nice to her and even tipped reasonably. When she almost made my finger bleed while filing angrily she didn't apologize, instead muttered something when I said ouch. During the back massage she literally was pounding on my shoulder. Afterwards my shoulder had her hand print, and was all red. The other ladies at the salon seem perfectly fine and nice. Wanted a quick and inexpensive place to get a pedicure in midtown, and this fit the bill! I got right in on a Sat afternoon, and got a nice pedicure from Maria. She took very good care of me, spent (what felt like extra) time with the salt scrub on my legs, and the massage chairs were nice. Excellent color selection. Great place to pop in and out. Ambiance isn't fancy, but everything appeared clean and I liked not having to wait. Pedicure was 26.
