I came here for gel nails cause of the high ratings. I was visiting new York for a couple days. I asked for French nails. Normally the tech would soak my hands in warm water with cuticle softener but they didn't do that here. The tech kept complaining my skin was dry as she attempted to cut the cuticle. The whole process was uncomfortable, and I had bleeding at the cuticles after. They spoke Mandarin the entire time. Not super friendly. Overbooked for the number of staff available. For example, one customer had to wait in the middle of her treatment while they tended to 4 people with reservations. Overall nails looked okay, no chipping or breaking (at 3 days post treatment). Nothing mind blowing. Reasonable price for Manhattan. Would not go back. read more

I really appreciate how reasonable the prices are at Ambient nails relative to other nail salons in the area. They have a ton of colors to pick from, and I love that they offer both hard gel and dip powders. The space and tools are clean and well-maintained. That being said, I've noticed the quality of my manicures have been a little hit or miss depending on the nail tech. Going with solid colors is always a safe bet, but I sometimes don't get the consistency I'm looking for with shaping and when getting nail art. Made a reservation in advance for a Thursday after work, and I'm glad I did since they had a lot of walk-ins! The salon is super open and clean. I loved the massage chairs for the pedicure as well as the way they display their polishes. I never felt like it was too crowded, and the ladies working there were nice and efficient. I paid $32 for a regular pedicure which I thought was super reasonable given everything that went into the pedicure. My favorite parts were the exfoliating cream they used as well as the hot wax they put on my heels. It was pretty speedy too -- I was done in about 15 minutes and then I was led to a dryer fan where I waited for about 20 minutes (purposely stayed this long to wait for my friends to finish their gel manicures). I am now on Day 8 of my pedicure and it still looks very good! read more

My third time here. Booked my first appointment through ClassPass, I was serviced by Lee who paid attention to detail, made sure I was satisfied with everything and did not rush the job. He also gave me the most satisfying back massage! I think he does a better job massaging your back than your feet but hey that can just be me. I love their assortment of colors and they keep their space simple but clean. My 2nd time here I had a female whose name I cannot recall but she did a pretty good jobs with my French pedi too- it really did look great! I got compliments everywhere. I love that their pedis include the hot heel gel and the exfoliating scrub- other salons tend to charge more for those touches. This is slowly becoming my go-to salon. I was fortunate to get Lee again for my third visit and he did not disappoint. I really need to remember to come here for a back massage by him once in a while. read more

Save yourself the time & $$$ and go somewhere else. Got a UV gel fill here bc my nail tech was away and this place had decent reviews. The tech was fine and the nails were fine. Not great but not bad. The shape could have been better but I wouldn't have had as much of an issue if one of my nails didn't crack less than 24hrs later. The uv gel cracked and by the time I got to the salon my actual nail was broken too so I needed a tip as well. A different tech starts to fix it and uses a gel x tip. I tell her that's not what the others are and she says it's fine. Gel x tips are clear and the uv gel on my nails is obvi not so, not surprisingly, the color looks drastically different. She's now frantically telling me they told her it was gel x and at this point I just want to leave so I suggest she paints a light color under it and then try the original color again. It looks better but clearly different than all my other nails. THEY PROCEED TO CHARGE ME $11 FOR THIS JENKY REPAIR LESS THAN 24hrs AFTER A FILL THAT ALREADY COST ME $110. I'll pay for good work but this was trash and charging me for a fix that happened less than 24hrs later AND you botched the repair is next level wild. read more

I went the next day see if they can at least change the nail polish, something simple and they left me waiting forever as if I was a nobody. Vicky seemed bothered and not pleasant at my request. I have been to this nail salon 3 times - two times I had gel manicure with Ella - the nice lady who answers the phone. It was great. Unfortunately the third time I had a very bad experience. I went there last Wed before my birthday, I had a pedicure and gel manicure with Ivy. Pedicure was ok, but when she was doing my manicure she managed to cut me 4 times. She was not even going to put alcohol on wounds until I told her to do it. It got infected, I think the tools she used were not sterilized. Now I am in so much pain. 5 days later it is still hurts a lot and I have to seek medical attention. I am very picky with the person who cuts my cuticles as I am afraid they gonna leave me with cuts.I do have my regular person at a different place. Unfortunately I was not able to get to her so I decided to go to this place. Not only waste of money - of course I left her a tip on top but also left with infected fingers. I have an event coming up and now all in pain and my fingers are swollen. I do not recommend doing manicure with Ivy at this place and I will never go back. It was the worst one. read more
