My gel manicures last me up to 6 weeks without ever chipping or peeling, and my nails have actually grown longer and healthier because of how much care they put into proper removal and application. one of the best pedicures I've gotten in my life. This place is located in the middle of Ktown on floor 5, so it's easy to miss, but you won't regret going. The lady servicing me was extremely patient and precise in working on my feet. She provided massages, a soap scrub, and more -- and this was just the basic pedicure service! By no means was the manicure my fiancée received a bad manicure. It just wasn't what she asked for. It's disappointing to pay that much for a service and have her leave unhappy. Nowhere in that photo were there random white nails with crushed shells on them. While that design may be pretty, it's not what she asked for, and it's certainly not what I intended to pay for. It's a shame because she was really excited.She was also told that the nail shape she chose was too small for the design she wanted, but that clearly wasn't true. Had a terrible experience and wanted to share as a heads-up. I got a basic gel manicure and regular pedicure -- nothing fancy -- and was charged $140 total, including $70 just for the gel manicure. My nails are short, no designs, nothing extra. The prices listed on the wall were much lower, and no one explained the upcharge until I questioned it at checkout. She did my nails for every wedding I had in 2022 and continues to make them look incredible! If you go to JN, here are some pro-tips: (1) Make an appt! Easiest way for me was through following them on IG and sending a DM. Phones are difficult to get to on time when the salon is busy and it is near impossible to do a walk-in bc the technicians always have so many clients. (2) Allot extra time! The technicians take their time to make sure your nails look perfect. I'd say for a gel mani (not art), you should expect to spend 90-120 min there. (3) Be on time, if not a few minutes early! If you're early and they're available they can get started on you a little earlier. But if you're late, your lateness may impact other customers with later appts so get there on time! Taking the time to come back and write a review 5 weeks later because I'm amazed at how long they lasted. I had an appointment at 1:30 on a Tuesday for a gel mani and regular pedi and there was only one other woman at the time. I arrived 5 minutes early and they took me in right away. Enter the building and take the mirrored elevator to the 5th floor. Definitely make an appointment ahead of time through their site and be sure you get a 2nd text for confirmation! Some walk ins were turned away because it got busy. I was there for a total of 2 hours for both services. Blanca really took her time to provide beautiful results. Plan accordingly or give at least an hour for each service. She was very intricate, detail oriented and made sure that each nail was perfect! I decided to treat myself to a manicure for my birthday because I wanted to have nice nails for once! despite having only had my nails done... 4? times in my life before and the process giving me a lot of anxiety each time. (I am not good at asserting that I don't like something...) JN Nail Bar was so good to me! I came in a bit spontaneously to ask if they had any walk-in availability, which luckily for me they did. I asked for gel (because I know myself and how rough I am with my hands) and was able to pick out colors pretty easily. My manicure went fine, but I was also struck by the atmosphere in the salon. Bumpin' classic diva tunes (think Whitney, Mariah, Celine~) singing along, chatting with clients and the other nail techs. It was nice, and as I was enjoying everything, I was also offered a big fluffy pillow so I could really lean back and relax. (Only possible because everyone was masked properly, of course) My nail broke 3 days after I got my manicure, so I called to ask if I could have the nail and polish fixed. (I thought it was a chip, but a whole bit of nail had chipped off.) Even though they were shortstaffed (only 2 people working when I went in), she told me I could come in before closing and attended to me in between coats drying for her other client. Both techs were still meticulous and friendly, despite staying past their posted hours, to get everyone's nails done. She also remembered the colors I had, despite not being the person who did my nails 4 days prior, which really impressed me given how busy they've been leading up to the holidays. Came here with a friend for a gel mani and regular pedicure. The selection of colors is really nice. I got #49 for my gel manicure, a beautiful and sheer whitish color. The shape and coloring for my manicure is perfect. They are one of the salons that use a paintbrush and acetone to remove any excess (instead of using their own nail, which I really don't like). Also, the technicians are so knowledgeable and give personalized recommendations for improving your nail health. I'm so glad I found JN nail and will definitely come back! I've probably gotten more than 100 gel manicures in my life, most of them in dark red. First of all, it took 2 hours. I appreciate that she may have intended to be meticulous, but this is way too lengthy, and part of the issue seemed to be a weak UV lamp (which was positioned over a piece of paper.) Second, the gel manicure price is advertised as $50-65, but they charged me $83, because I had gel removal (which they said was $10) and "dark red is extra because it takes longer." Sorry, what? I've been to JN Nail Bar twice and both times, I got great service (emphasis on the great) and left with beautiful nails. They take walk ins + appointments. I have done both and have no complaints. It seems they do have a steady stream of customers but they were not haste when handling my nails at all. I was very especially impressed with how attentive the girls here were to my nails. I got a gel mani and pedi and they did one coat base primer, one coat base, three coats of color, one coat top plus nail oil to end. It took a good amount of time and I appreciate the effort they took to make sure my nails looked fantastic! Top layer of my nails was totally drilled down and even one of the technicians later said the previous woman used the drill too much. Costs $30 to remove Japanese gel when most places it's a standard removal cost of $15-20. If they don't know how to remove it, they could've told me before the appointment rather than ruin my natural nails. I spent $120 on a simple single color gel manicure when it should've been $80-85 at most with removal. It also took almost 2 hours because they kept switching the technicians... Sanitary standards of this place is questionable as one of the technicians was filing my nails with the cut nails of the previous customer were still on the table (right under my hands). The staff (partner of the owner) Pepper is straight off rude, disrespectful with bad communication skills. They do not care about wasting your time with a phone line that almost never works, and horrible experiences with appointment bookings. Text messages went ghosted, and when you went into the store and asking her what happened. She will tell you that she is busy without correcting her behaviors and not sending a follow-ups text to your questions for days. As an old customer, there was always here and there bad attitudes and bad customer services but at least they used to respond and complete the service. Experience: I recently texted one of the owner politely asking to book an appointment after a vacation, no response for days, followed up with another text again, no response, called the store a few more times, no answers, went in person and told her that I have been trying to reach out for a week, was told that she will text me back with a possible avails in 2 days, yet nothing from her, called her cell phone again and the store few times, no response and did NOT communicate a rough timeline, completely silence. Went into the store again (image this is happening in a busy city like NYC) to ask her why this was happening and she still told me she is busy without texting me back before the tentative time that she proposed. At this point it has been almost a week since my first attempt to reach out, and many follow-ups, as an old customer. I got publicly humiliated for questioning her lack of professionalism because others in the room did not know what was going on behind the scene. This lady is not flexible, does not care about your needs, happiness and time as a customer, it's all about her time and her attitude. If you ever got into a traffic accident and be late for 10 min while giving her sufficient heads-up and apologies, with a booking of a 3 hour long appointment, she would mentally harass you over text message about how important her time is, and threaten to cancel you right away after telling you not to worry about it in the first place. This type of mental swing is shocking. She works with her own rules, she harasses you if you ever dare to be late, with out any rules or guidelines upfront yet she completely disregards your time as a customer, letting you wait for days if not ghosting you. Completely self absorbed, inflexible, with an inability to manage customer operation as a business (does not have a functional phone line), does not care about fixing it. Very horrendous experience being an old customer who is always tipping decently and never flaked on any of their appointments. It used to be great until it isn't. Would not recommend. I made an appointment here for dip manicure at 1 PM today. I left at 1:51 PM without getting my nails done. I had arrived right at 1 PM and there were 3 technicians working with 3 clients. Not a big deal at all because I know that often times there can be a 15-20 minute delay. About 20 minutes after sitting there, one of the technicians asked me why I wanted dip. I told her that I like dip and always get that done (I'm aware that it's more expensive than gel). She went on to convince me that gel is better for my nails and cheaper, etc. which I eventually decided to give gel another try after many years of not choosing them. At about 1:35 PM, another guy entered the salon. At 1:37 PM, the same technician was done with her existing client and asked me if I could wait for the other technician who would be done in "a few minutes." I continued to patiently wait. At 1:51 PM, the other technician was very much still working with the other girl so I asked how long this manicure would take as I had scheduled it at 1 PM to account for some delays so that I could make my next responsibilities on time. She told me that the manicure would take 45 minutes and I asked why I've been sitting there for 50 minutes and that she accepted the client that walked in at around 1:35 PM (He's clearly a regular there and she had joked to him about how he only texted her at 1 something that he wanted to come in but she'll always make herself available for him). She said that he had scheduled it directly with her and that she doesn't do gel nails. Only the other technician does gel nails. I proceeded to ask her if she does dip nails (what I had initially scheduled for) and she said yes, but she had scheduled me with this other technician who she thought would only take an hour 15 minutes with the current girl, but has already taken 2 hours to get to that "specific color" (not sure how you can be so wrong in this estimate when it's nail polish - if you can't achieve "that" color after that long, clearly that nail polish is not meant to be "that" color. Obviously, something else was going on where she had prioritized her regular client over a new client and pushed me into doing gel nails in an effort to try to fit everyone in still. She then proceeded to say how that's why they don't like allowing appointments because it's hard to estimate the timing and also how they didn't make me put a deposit so I shouldn't expect much, etc. I told that I completely understand what she's saying and that every salon is different with their policies, but if that was the case, she should've said something when I made the appointment rather than allowing me to make an appointment under the expectation that I would receive service at least somewhere around that time. I ended up leaving without getting my service because I didn't want to get service at a rude and manipulative business, but also because I didn't want my 45 minute manicure to turn into an hour and a half and run super late to my next appointment. I wish I read the bad reviews on here earlier because you can see how rude the responses from the business are.
