I held off on writing this review of Nams until now because I had a bad experience at my last gel manicure appointment and I wanted to be sure my nails would survive at least the first week. I'm happy to report that my manicure is intact. I came here with a friend for an evening appointment. We each got a gel manicure. I decided to go with a french manicure though they had several options to choose from. Something I liked was that the salon Carrie's all colors in both gel and regular polish so you can match colors more easily if you're doing a gel manicure and regular pedicure. From the moment we arrived, I felt a sense of hospitality here. The staff took care of us right away and offered us complimentary bottled water/ sparkling water. When I got to talking with my mail technician I learned that the salon is Tibetan- owned and the name Nam means "sky" which is supposed to symbolize infiniteness. Around the salon you can see plenty of traditional Tibetan textiles and art, which is nice. My manicure was done quickly but carefully. I was out in about an hour and I was satisfied with the final product. I thought the line on my French manicure was precise and they matched the nude pink well. Overall, I really liked the service here and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely come back if in the area.

    Nails

horrible . they told me 50 dollars and at check out it was 110! 110 dollars for nails that broke off in 4 days. first of all i showed them a picture of what i wanted and they did the complete opposite! i have never been to a nail salon that cant follow simple directions and then have the nerve to be this expensive. a waste of money! never again.

    My new color nail

Amazing I had good experience here and they are professional. Help me to choose my nail color and did my nail in the best way. I appreciate for tea and chocolate too

I came to Nams on a Saturday afternoon for a regular pedicure and gel manicure. I noticed the nail techs were offering drinks to everyone but I was never offered one for whatever reason. They were all very nice though. The mani pedi took faster than I expected - less than an hour for both. But overall I'm happy with the results! The prices are also generally better than at other places in the city.

Bassing working on my regular pedicure. They were having a special!

Amazing service! Super sweet ladies and treated me great for my birthday! so glad we choose this salon to get or nails done. Bassing worked my legs so good i almost melted in the massage chair. The wine was the plus! Empty during the weekday so relaxing and no rush! They were also having a special!

This is my go to nail spot. Prices are really great for NYC as well. They accommodate each customer with a beverage (water, wine, coffee, soda) and some candy along with being very patient with customers picking out their colors. My absolute favorite nail technician is Narcissa, she is amazing. She is so patient with her work and cares very much on doing her absolute best each time I see her! Thank you, Nams! Best, Krina!

Amazing find in Hells Kitchen! I came here as a walk in and they were able to see me immediately. $17 for a regular manicure, the colors were great. They give you a beverage while you wait and there's a huge basket of chocolates. Recommend this spot for sure! This color is Dare to Wear by Lush Life.

(Picture is of my bright white nails against my white sheets. It's just a regular manicure and they look divine.)

Oh my goodness! I found my new favorite nail place in the city! Why? Because the NAMS staff are genuinely good people with really talented staff, and give really good rates. When you walk in, you're greeted by Lhamo, who directs you to the perfect technician. She is so sweet so be nice to her! I was lucky to be paired with Tara and she's now my new nail stylist! All I went in for was the basics: a pedicure and a manicure. Both of them were done pristinely, and I felt really taken care of. Lhamo and Tara also gives off such good vibes that I want them to be my friend and my nail stylist lol. You can tell they have good hearts, and that is not the case for every shop . Also, they are super hospitable! Not only do they have wine, which is a staple at any salon, but they also have bottled water and sparkling water, which is a true sign of luxury ;) you wanna feel taken care of when you're getting your hair done or your nails done and Nams does that. And they don't let you walk out without your nails being dry so you don't have to worry about damage. Also, bring cash! Easier for them and easier for us.

I recently visited a local nail salon, and I cannot recommend this place for several reasons. First, although the staff was very nice and welcoming, their attempts to extract extra money were blatant, like offering chair massages or various strange extras. The woman who attended to me was a bit older, and I felt she was impatient, clearly focused on getting the job done quickly to make money. While that approach may suit some, I expect professionalism. We started with a pedicure, which was done hastily, and she even massaged my legs, a gesture I found odd and uncomfortable. Later, while she was cleaning my fingers and before starting the nail polish, she took a calculated step to call the receptionist for me to pay. In front of other clients and workers, the receptionist made a conspicuous point about the tip, publicly with the woman pressuring me as if to push me into a corner without a choice. The situation was constructed in such a way that it seemed to be intended to embarrass me during the middle of the manicure, an experience that was both unsettling and unprofessional. Additionally, they charge 2% for using a credit card. I told her I would pay the tip in cash when she's done. Later when she applied the nail polish it, bubbles appeared, and it was so obvious that she disregarded it. I didn't say anything because she seemed tired, and it was clear that she was aware of her work and didn't care. When I noticed later that my nail polish was smudged, I returned to the store. Her attempt to correct the problem was lazy, and the result was unattractive. I told her to remove it, and she reluctantly complied, giving me a frustrated look. Another important issue was her lack of hygiene. She didn't use gloves, and something brown was under her fingernails. Two days later, this is the result of her work: peeling nail polish and an unpolished fingernail (picture attached). I can't stress enough how dissatisfied I am with this experience. If you value professionalism, quality, and hygiene, I would advise looking elsewhere for your salon needs. Her disregard for quality was evident, and it felt like the entire salon was more concerned about fast money rather than satisfying their clients. The experience cost me $60 plus a tip, and I was left deeply disappointed.

I highly recommend Miss Bliss for superior quality and service!…read more I was in NY for work and desperately needed to get my nails done before a trade show. I found Miss Bliss on Yelp as a business open Sunday evening and walked in around 5 (they close at 7). All the seats were full and 2 girls already waiting, so they advised the wait would be an hour bc of this existing appointments. No problem for me since I thought this was still plenty of time to get in before closing. They were able to seat me around 5:45. I requested Gel-x (my first time but also my nails were pretty short and damaged from my picking off the last gel as it grew out). Jenny began meticulously working on cleaning my cuticles and sizing me up for the tips. I don't know what they look for, but she definitely worked through the different size options, and even re-applied one of the tips bc she noticed something was off. Honestly, I don't think I have have noticed but I do appreciate her attention to detail, she obviously cares about her craft. So 7 pm rolls around, the 3 other customers that were still there and had wrapped up their nail sessions. Julie, the other nail tech offers to finish up my polish design to let Jenny go home to her kids. I'm definitely feeling bad for keeping them past closing, and I am secretly hoping they rush through the polish so they can leave. NOPE! Julie takes her time on my design, and finishes up with a nice neck and hand massage, warm towel, and we all finally close up at 830. I am super grateful they continued to dedicate time to my service, while not sacrificing quality. Left a fat tip since I know Jenny and Julie will be splitting. Looking forward to coming back here on a future NY trip! Next time I will make an appointment though

my rating is between 3.5 and 4…read more i called ahead to see if they had any availability, and since they had pretty good ratings on google and yelp, i decided to go for it. my nails were getting way too long anyways. it was a very typical nail salon, the exact kind you would imagine when you think of one. she didn't ask what length i wanted and just went straight for the cut. by the time it came to filing, my nails ended up super short, and i am definitely a longer nail kind of girl. i'm not sure if she simply forgot to ask, but i'd like to think she was looking out for me and knew my nails would chip if they were kept too long. i went for a regular gel manicure since i told myself my nails need a break after this. when she was done, she gave me a shoulder massage, but it was very brief (shorter than the typical massages you get at nail appointments) and only on one shoulder, which felt a little odd. upon leaving, i immediately noticed a flaw on my left thumb. there were visibly tiny bumps, and once i noticed them, they kept bothering me. my conclusion: always go to the nail salon you trust, and that is exactly what i should've done.

As a result, my nail was damaged during the process. It's crucial to remove gel X correctly to prevent damage, and I don't understand how they can offer this service without knowing how to remove it properly. They also didn't even try to provide a discount due to the damage, which reflects awful customer service

I had a very disappointing experience at this salon…read more When I called to book an appointment, I clearly explained that I already had hard gel on my nails and asked how much it would cost to remove it and get a new gel manicure. They told me $70.20, and no one mentioned that the price could be higher. During the appointment, it became clear that they didn't know how to remove my previous gel properly. It wasn't a "different type of gel" -- they just didn't know how to do it correctly. Instead of properly filing it off with the machine, they only removed the color layer. Then they wrapped my nails in foil and left me sitting there while the nail technician did a full pedicure for another client, without saying a word to me. I was just waiting the entire time. When she finally came back, she seemed surprised that the gel was still there -- and only then started removing it with the machine. She never explained anything to me, and I felt very uncomfortable because they were clearly experimenting on my nails. In any professional salon, hard gel is removed completely with a machine -- not like this. At the end, they told me the total was $164. I was shocked. They said it was because of a "different gel" and a "different service," which wasn't true -- I had told them in advance that it was hard gel. If they had informed me that the price would be higher, I would have decided whether to continue or not. When I calmly explained that no one mentioned this, they refused to listen. Then, when I asked to speak with the employer (the boss/owner) who wasn't there at the time, she got on the phone and spoke very rudely, claiming the nail master had told me about the higher cost -- which was a complete lie. The worst part is that they both started threatening to call the cops, even though I was polite and honest the entire time. I ended up paying with my foreign card, using my last money, but the way they treated me was absolutely unacceptable. While I was talking to the employer, the nail master stood there chewing gum and didn't even look at me. It was clear they were covering for each other. She never told me about any extra charge. I left the salon very upset and disappointed. I believe honesty, professionalism, and communication are the most important parts of good service -- unfortunately, I didn't experience any of that here. How can professional staff, instead of listening or offering any solution, threaten me by saying, "We will call the cops! We will call the cops!!!"? I've been doing my nails regularly for five years, and I've never had such awful quality and service. They didn't know how to remove the gel properly and then put all their mistakes, my waiting time, and the extra costs on me and my pocket. To make things worse, the final work was low quality -- on my pinky finger, they added Gel-X and didn't even file or shorten it. It's longer than my other nails and hurts
