I've been coming to Nams for over 7 years, and I've always loved the vibe here... from the zen Buddhist music, food and drink offerings, massage chairs, and friendly service, to the clean air and the fact that the owners are always present. It truly creates a relaxing atmosphere. However, I've noticed that the quality of the mani & pedi has declined over the years, which has made me hesitant to return, even though it's in the most convenient location for me. These days when I returned, it's just for last minute color change to avoid more damage. I referred a friend to join me for a mani/pedi once, and she also mentioned that while the ambiance is great, but the owners should get their own mani & pedi done by their technicians, which I completely agree with. While I usually don't like getting my cuticles pushed or cut, I really appreciate that they respected that preference. However, when it comes to removing polish, it's done very recklessly with a lack of attention to detail. On several occasions, they've scraped the skin around the nails--sometimes cutting it to the point where it bled and required a bandage. When I mentioned this to the hostess after she asked for feedback, she dismissed it by saying I have sensitive skin. Since when is it normal for skin to be scraped during a mani/pedi? Additionally, I've had gel mani here twice in a row, and the technician over-shaved to the point where my nails ended up paper-thin that I have to ask the technician to apply extra coats to make up for it. One time, the technician even touched my skin with the machine that is used to shave the gel polish off. I've also had my skin scraped during pedicures, which is concerning. Every time I get a gel mani, within two weeks, the polish would start to lift on the cuticle side, which shows a lack of precision during the application. My friend got a regular mani & pedi here, and one of her nails chipped within a day. While I still love the atmosphere and the owners, the decline in the quality of the services, especially regarding polish removal, nail care, and attention to detail, has made me hesitant on coming back. read more

I held off on writing this review of Nams until now because I had a bad experience at my last gel manicure appointment and I wanted to be sure my nails would survive at least the first week. I'm happy to report that my manicure is intact. I came here with a friend for an evening appointment. We each got a gel manicure. I decided to go with a french manicure though they had several options to choose from. Something I liked was that the salon Carrie's all colors in both gel and regular polish so you can match colors more easily if you're doing a gel manicure and regular pedicure. From the moment we arrived, I felt a sense of hospitality here. The staff took care of us right away and offered us complimentary bottled water/ sparkling water. When I got to talking with my mail technician I learned that the salon is Tibetan- owned and the name Nam means "sky" which is supposed to symbolize infiniteness. Around the salon you can see plenty of traditional Tibetan textiles and art, which is nice. My manicure was done quickly but carefully. I was out in about an hour and I was satisfied with the final product. I thought the line on my French manicure was precise and they matched the nude pink well. Overall, I really liked the service here and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely come back if in the area. read more

That said, I'm subtracting a star for the fact that on one of my nails the gel ended up being uneven, so the technician removed it and did it over again, which then took even longer. Nams Nail Spa used to be my go to spot for manicures but lately it seems the service and quality has significantly dropped. I walked out with a terrible gel manicure that took over an hour and cost me $60. The nails are all differently shaped and the quality of the polish is terrible. Thick layers that are patchy and do not at all look professional and the cuticles are not even cleaned up, quite disappointing for a solid color manicure. Although the staff is nice, the manicure itself is extremely lacking and after years of giving them chances, I think this was my last visit. read more

Oh my goodness! I found my new favorite nail place in the city! Why? Because the NAMS staff are genuinely good people with really talented staff, and give really good rates. When you walk in, you're greeted by Lhamo, who directs you to the perfect technician. She is so sweet so be nice to her! I was lucky to be paired with Tara and she's now my new nail stylist! All I went in for was the basics: a pedicure and a manicure. Both of them were done pristinely, and I felt really taken care of. Lhamo and Tara also gives off such good vibes that I want them to be my friend and my nail stylist lol. You can tell they have good hearts, and that is not the case for every shop . Also, they are super hospitable! Not only do they have wine, which is a staple at any salon, but they also have bottled water and sparkling water, which is a true sign of luxury ;) you wanna feel taken care of when you're getting your hair done or your nails done and Nams does that. I recently visited a local nail salon, and I cannot recommend this place for several reasons. First, although the staff was very nice and welcoming, their attempts to extract extra money were blatant, like offering chair massages or various strange extras. The woman who attended to me was a bit older, and I felt she was impatient, clearly focused on getting the job done quickly to make money. While that approach may suit some, I expect professionalism. We started with a pedicure, which was done hastily, and she even massaged my legs, a gesture I found odd and uncomfortable. Later, while she was cleaning my fingers and before starting the nail polish, she took a calculated step to call the receptionist for me to pay. In front of other clients and workers, the receptionist made a conspicuous point about the tip, publicly with the woman pressuring me as if to push me into a corner without a choice. The situation was constructed in such a way that it seemed to be intended to embarrass me during the middle of the manicure, an experience that was both unsettling and unprofessional. Additionally, they charge 2% for using a credit card. I told her I would pay the tip in cash when she's done. Later when she applied the nail polish it, bubbles appeared, and it was so obvious that she disregarded it. I didn't say anything because she seemed tired, and it was clear that she was aware of her work and didn't care. When I noticed later that my nail polish was smudged, I returned to the store. Her attempt to correct the problem was lazy, and the result was unattractive. I told her to remove it, and she reluctantly complied, giving me a frustrated look. Another important issue was her lack of hygiene. She didn't use gloves, and something brown was under her fingernails. Two days later, this is the result of her work: peeling nail polish and an unpolished fingernail (picture attached). I can't stress enough how dissatisfied I am with this experience. If you value professionalism, quality, and hygiene, I would advise looking elsewhere for your salon needs. Her disregard for quality was evident, and it felt like the entire salon was more concerned about fast money rather than satisfying their clients. The experience cost me $60 plus a tip, and I was left deeply disappointed. read more

Such a lovely spa! The staff is very nice and welcoming - they hung up my coat and offered me water right away. I also appreciated that there was an open station and available technician ready for me at my appointment time. My nails came out beautiful! My technician was definitely a perfectionist and it showed in the time she took to clean my nails and paint them nicely (I was there for about 50 mins). This isn't a huge luxury spa, so if that's what you're looking for, then this isn't the spot for you. But they have plenty of stations, good service and good staff. It's a cute little (very little) place that is not about luxury or champagne flutes while you get pampered (though they do serve Perrier, coffee and soda). It's all about getting people in and getting them out. But while they are all business, they are also very good at what they do. Seriously, before finding this little gem, we went to a place that was very pretty and spacious and charged a lot of money only to give one of the worst mani/pedis ever. Nams has a great team and both my manicure and pedicure were perfect. My husband has job where having perfect nails is extremely important, and he's pretty fussy about his manis and pedis. And he loves Nams. My only real conplaint is the size of the place. Having nothing to do with COVID, it's very very cramped and not for anyone who gets claustrophobic. I have been a long-time customer. I've always had great experiences. However, today I came in for pedicures with a good friend. When we asked about the price difference between a spa pedicure and spa gel pedicure, the owner quoted us $70 and $90, respectively. However, she clearly said MULTIPLE times that for my friend, the gel spa pedicure would be $70, as a first-time customer discount. When I asked about my pedicure, she said that I could also get the gel spa pedicure for $70. I have ONLY ever gotten the $70 regular spa pedicure, because I don't have the need for gel. BUT, since Nam was very clear that I could get the gel pedicure for $70, I went for it. Both my pedicure, and my friend's pedicure were not up to snuff-- crooked, with uneven polish. Once finished, we went to the front, and Nam told us that we owed $90 each. When we questioned her, saying she told us we would pay $70 for the gel pedicures, she told us that she never said that and basically said that both of us were lying. She also asked if we had tipped our technicians well (which we both obviously had). She charged me $90, and then charged my friend $85 (not including tip). She justified this by saying that she gave us wine for free (a choice that the salon makes for all customers). I was horrified. The interaction ended with her asking "Are you happy?" very sarcastically and rudely. The lack of customer service and straight ROBBERY was disgusting. We will NEVER RETURN. I highly suggest everyone find another salon, where the proprietor is honest and fair. read more

Now they moved to new location on 10th ave which is just a half block away from the old store is very spacious and their decoration is so beautiful and offers calm vibe .
