This is my favorite hot pot restaurant! I started going to the restaurant when it was called "89 Hot Pot", but despite the slight differences, I still find Nine Spices to be very good. One of the biggest pluses is that you can customize the soup. At other hot pot restaurants, you are given a set soup base. However, here, you choose from many types including Original, Spicy, and Tom Yum. In addition, you get a wide options of choices. I've seen some complaints about options, but they actually offer many options in meat, seafood, vegetables, and noodles, especially much more than restaurants. The service here is also great! Every time I come in, I feel welcomed by not only the staff but also the owner. While you are eating, the staff comes by frequently to make sure that everything is fine. You can also ask them for any options that you don't see on the belt if there is something that you really want. Overall, this restaurant is very good, and I found that many of the bad reviews seem to be untrue. I've been here very often, and I've never had any issues like in the reviews. For an example, with the empty tables that were mentioned, those tables are made for six people, so it would make sense that they would reserve the tables for bigger parties and not two people. The meat portion is very tiny, the orders came out very slowly, It gets to the point that they said there's no beef because they are cutting, and told us to wait. This place has a really cool concept. Cool setup with a huge variety of broths, meats, and sauces. Not going to lie, quality of the foods here is just mediocre. Meat quality is on the lower end, and my Tom yum soup was pretty weird tasting... Cool sauce bar with a lot of options, but they're just raw sauces that you would have to concoct yourself. 89 Hot pot closed for three weeks to remodel and has opened up as 9 Spices Hot Pot under the same management. It was repoened only a couple of days prior. It is still an all you can eat hot pot the only change is the conveyor belt food choice system. Before you requested food and it was brought to your table. Now there is a conveyor belt that runs around the tables with different plates and bowls of food which you can pick off at your convenience. They still have sauce bar. If what you want is not on the belt you can still request it from the server. As a group the new system got mixed reviews. The good was smaller portions, individuals could grab what they wanted, surprise sometimes of what is coming around, and being able to try items by sight. The bad was sometimes things did not look fresh if it went around the belt for awhile, people having the chance to breathe over your food without protection, choices can be limited if many people are not waiting for food, and if you want something not on the line you are dependent on the wait staff coming to ask you what you want. I'm in total infatuation with this place! Went at 7:45 on a Saturday night, we were seated immediately and the fun began! Luv my dinner with a little adventure. The restaurant has been remodeled and added a conveyor belt for the hot pot fixings. This way you can pick what you want and not waste what you don't. All you can eat still and the fix your own sauce bar makes this place a stand out from the local competitors. The staff is extremely helpful. Seems to be family owned and well run. read more

This is the newly renovated "89 Hot Pot" and it's still delicious! Food now comes out on a conveyor belt and the place looks a lot sleeker. They also have new broths and because the food is now on a conveyor belt, it's great for first timers who get to see everything they have to offer. I come at least once a month, and everyone I bring always begs me to come with me the next time I go. definitely a great place for friends and family. PSA: try the fried tofu skin! I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a year now. It was our first time as a family and we let the waitress know. She didn't inform us much of how the ordering and process went and we didn't know what questions to ask. So we started out with a broth for each one of us (two children, two adults) and then we saw this belt where bowls were rotating on and assumed that we would grab whatever we wanted from there. It wasn't until later that she told us there was a spice bar... so I was able to make my hot pot delicious. And then we were asked if we were placing empty bowls back onto the belt, and we had been doing that. The waiter then told us not to do that anymore and to set it aside and they'll come pick it up. Okay, the hot pot was good and fulfilling. The service and the waitress set us up for a poor experience so I didn't tip them well at all because they made me and my partner "feel" like it was an overall bad experience. Oh, and I asked for four forks and she brought us three plates of pork belly... wtfork?! I thought the pork belly meat was part of the ordeal so I didn't say anything until I noticed I was still waiting for four forks and asked her again. Come to realize I was charged for something I never asked for but decided to bite my tongue cause we ate the pork bellies and just pay the damn thing. It came out to over $115 easily just for an all you can eat hot pot for four. Totally overpriced and poor service. Be sure to ask lots of questions otherwise no one will explain anything to you and you'll end up getting told NOT to do things... Don't go to this place. I read other reviews and saw that the workers are rude and treat you poorly. There are better food, prices and service at multiple places! Go there instead, stay away from this place. These people need to be trained to greet and provide a more welcoming and inclusive environment. They lack all good qualities of good service. Oh, and to top it off at the register we were charged for someone else's table. They cancelled our first transaction and rung us up again to charge us the correct amount. My new favorite hot pot spot! I've only ever been to other one other hot pot before (J's Mini Hot Pot) and I was not impressed. This place changed me. I love the variety and getting to choose what you get rather than just being served large portions of meat and veggies that you don't end up using. The staff was quick, friendly, and very helpful. Zheng and his co workers made our experience great! It is all you can eat for $23.99 per person. We got 2 hot pots, for 2 of us. A total of 4 drinks (canned and bottled drinks only, no free refills) the total was $59 which is quite a steal. We left more than satisfied. Will definitely be back! I've been going to this hotpot place for a couple years now, and I can easily say that it's one of the best hotpot places around. They have recently remodeled and changed their name, but they are still as good as ever. The revolving belt is a little different to what I'm used to, but I actually prefer the belt. With the belt, you can quickly choose what you want without having to wait for the servers to bring it out to you, and the portions are smaller so you won't waste food. It is AYCE for $23.99 and it's a great deal because off the endless AYCE options. There are various types of meats such as pork belly, beef, lamb and chicken. There's also a great seafood selection that includes fish, squid, mussels, clams, shimp and fish balls. Various types of vegetables and noodles can also be found. My favorite part is the customizable soup base. You have an option of original, spicy, herbal, tomato, bone, tom yum or chicken soup base to choose from. At the sauce bar, you can make your own concoction of sauce that you can use for dipping or to add to your soup base. The customer service is great, and the staff are very friendly. The staff often come by to check up on you and to see if you need anything else. They also mention that if you don't see something on the belt that you want then you can ask them, and they will bring it out to you. The owner is an extremely sweet and funny women who greets us every time we come, and she works hard to make the restaurant the way it is. I 100% recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves hotpot or wants a warm late-night meal. read more

This place has the worst customer service ever. The owner a female is rude and disrespectful. We had a party of 5 and was waiting to be seated amount 15 minute. A party of 5 walked in that was of the same race and she seated them before us. When I asked her why she the owner stated I thought you would like more room, so I will put you at the bigger table when this group of people finish. It would not have been a big deal had she communicated that before I had to ask her. Felt like discrimination. I would have left but my niece wanted to eat there for her birthday. I will never return there and spend my money on an overpriced, rude restaurant. They charge for a canned beverage and have an escalated price. We ate at the restaurant before and had horrible service by a male staffer who acted like he did not want to be here. He begrudgingly brought us tiny meat portions and acted as if we were bothering. We decided to give the restaurant a try again today in hopes that maybe the bad service was a one time thing. Google has their hours of operations listed as open until 9:30pm and the restaurant's physical door list that they are open until 10pm. The front door has the "open" sign still lit so we walked through the front doors at 8:30pm and the restaurant was 2/3 empty. The Chinese lady at the counter across the room yelled rudely that they close at 9:30pm. We were confused and looked down at our phone and watch that clearly states the time as 8:30pm. She then ignored us and picked up an incoming call as we were still standing at the door. If I'm going to be completely honest, I think that Nine Spices is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is delicious, and there is so much variety. You can customize how you want your soup base to taste, and you even get a wide assortment of meats, vegetables, and seafood. Not to mention, the customer service is great and they are very friendly. It's also great that they charge you per person. Since me, my family, and friends eat a ton, we get to eat a lot without having to pay too much. As a lover of 89 hot pot, I wanted to give this a try. I like it! One issue I had with 89 were the portions were way too big and I end up not finishing it. Terrible experience! As soon as we got there at 8:45 pm the first thing they said to us was, " Do you think you can be finished eating and out by 10 pm?".... not a welcome or any greeting. Lol. Then they asked us if our two kids would eat we told them that we weren't sure considering they had just eaten like 2 hour before. My oldest 7 year old didn't want to eat anything, but after the meal was almost finished my 4 year decided he would try to eat a bite of meat. After trying it, he spit it out and said It was too spicy, so we promised a chick fil a meal once we left. The waitress brought the bill and charged us $16 for a 7-10 kids all you can eat meal. We explained that our oldest didn't eat a bite, and my 4 year old took one bite but spit it out... the waitress proceeded to tell us there isn't anything she could do about it, and that technically he did take a bite. I just laughed and told them to charge it to the bill.. I'm not going to get flustered and let a cheap stingy business ruin my night out for my kids graduation, plus I had a chick fil a meal I had promised to get before they closed.
