Naz did an amazing job with my cut and color! Salon is clean and the music playing had me dancing and singing in the chair. Decided to go lighter for summer and got "the works" which was a full balayage lightener and toner along with a cut. Was in the chair for about 5 hours as I was going from dark to light, but it honestly didn't feel like it at all. I will not mention names here, but I will never return to this salon. I was extremely disappointed to discover how badly my hair was damaged after I went home and washed it. I ended up having to get another haircut elsewhere just to fix the damage. During my appointment, my stylist was working on another client at the same time, and I truly believe the lack of attention contributed to my hair being over-processed and fried. Even at the salon, after my hair was washed, I noticed strands coming off and expressed my concern. I was told it was "normal because hair is fragile when wet," but the breakage and damage were clearly beyond normal. While my hair initially looked fine when styled at the salon, once I washed it at home, the true extent of the damage became obvious. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place to anyone based on my experience. read more

I had a terrible salon experience with Paola. I usually drive 30-40 minutes to see my usually hair stylist but since moving to Hayward I've been looking for local places so I snagged a last minute appointment to see Paola, however jokes on me - I definitely won't be going back here.... It started with me sitting on the salon chair and asking me me "Can my assistant help?" I say yes thinking the assistant was going to help her clean, fetch her supplies, etc. Little did I know her assistant would be doing most of the work while she went off to work on another client's hair. While she was away, I was wondering when she would come back, and I thought to myself - what a weird salon, but hey maybe that's the way they do things here and my hair will be fine?? Well I'm here now, I can't just leave. Fast, forward, Paola comes back and takes a peep at my hair, and adds a little something, then her assistant (btw i don't know her name, what her credentials are, and who was quiet the whole time) took me to the shampoo bowl to wash my hair and do the toner part. Okay, finally Paola is back to cut my hair. Awesome, now I am finally see the person I paid for. I pay and leave the salon. It took me a few weeks of trying to style my hair until I figured out my haircut is completely UNEVEN. I thought I was crazy, until finally about 3 weeks later I told my husband okay I have to say something, so he took a photo of my hair and I sent it to Paola. She tells me that since it's been nearly 4 weeks my hair grew out unevenly and I'm due for my ROUTINE HAIRCUT and asked if I want to schedule another appointment. Ha. No thanks! I have never needed haircuts every 4 weeks. I went back to my usual hair stylist and I told her how Paola wanted me to go back to her for a routine haircut after FOUR weeks, and she laughed and could not believe it. Every hair cut I have ever gotten for the past 20 years has lasted at LEAST 3 months. 1) transparency - if i book with you but someone else will be doing half the work, tell your client ahead of time and don't charge full price for inexperience. 2) No accountability - hey if you screwed up my hair, that's fine but don't blame it on the client's hair. At least offer to fix it and not charge me again for your mistake. The toner/root touch up work was like 4/10 work. Didn't last long. Her assistant needs more training. read more

Came here for the 4th or 5th time today to get a curly cut with Shelby, who is wonderful I was recommended nine two five by a friend who had a beautiful curly cut, and she specifically recommended Shelby After my first cut there, I also recommended Shelby to my other friends with curly hair. ANYWAYS, I came back today, and Shelby did an amazing job. We did a refresh on my hair where she cut the ends and redid all my layers and face framing. She also did a wash and a deep conditioning treatment. Then she styled it curly for me. I loved how it came out! She got my curls to look very healthy and defined. She also got the top of my head curly, which I can never manage to do. Already got lots of compliments on it. I love nine two five. I feel like it's super clean and also decorated very elegantly. I've never had an issue with parking, there's always spots in the city lot across salon or I just circle and park on B St and grab boba then walk over. I had not had a professional hair cut since like...2020. Like a lot of people I started cutting my own hair, and my husband's during shelter in place and just got out of the habit of going to see a professional. I wanted to get a haircut but didn't want to end up with something that wouldn't improve my looks and make life easier hair maintenance wise. I am a huge fan of Claudia's Body and Skin Care at Southland in Hayward and decided to ask Karen, their magician esthetician, if she could recommend anyone. And she did. Another client of hers had recommended Gina at Nine Two Five in downtown Hayward. Yesenia, the marvelous massage therapist at Claudia's had also just gotten her hair cut by Gina Baldinelli and it was super cute. That was the incentive I needed so I made an appointment with Gina and got my WAY TOO LONG AND THIN gray hair cut last week. I absolutely love it!! It's a shoulder length "lob" with just one layer that shapes my face nicely. I'll need to go back about every 8-10 weeks to maintain, something I thought I wanted to avoid but not now, this cut is too flattering to not keep up with it. And as Gina wisely said, that's about five haircuts a year. In addition to being a super stylist with experience and talent especially for layered cuts and an eye for what would be flattering to anyone's face/head shape, Gina is super nice, really fun and interesting to talk to. I felt instantly comfortable with her and am determined to get my husband into her chair for a cut! The salon itself is a nice addition to Main Street downtown, really lovely and elegant inside and staff is very nice, and professional. The only "problem" with the location is it's right around the corner from Max's Bakery and I had to stop and get myself some celebratory CAKE after my cut! It was a happy day. read more
