I went here at 8:40pm- which was less than an hour to their closing time. It was bright, clean, spacious, and not busy at all! We were seated immediately and helped to some menus (love the menu sooooo much)! The TV was playing White Chicks and later played Madea's Big Happy Family. Very nice selection. We got our orders taken quickly and it didn't take long for the food to come out! I got the Fish and Chips with Garlic Parmesan Fries! Both items were so nice and crispy! But be aware that the garlic Parmesan is actually a sauce and not like Garlic powder and Parmesan cheese- so it's more of a wet (but still crispy) fry. The Ginger & Mint Tea was also very yummy and refreshing- barely tasted the tea and almost tasted fizzy but nevertheless very refreshing to wash everything down. ***3 1/2 stars*** This was kind of all over the place, and a prescient reminder that sometimes you get what you pay for. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality (down the street!) and I stopped here for a much-needed recharge after she led a comprehensive campus tour in 90-degree heat. There weren't a ton of eating options - graduation was apparently last week, and the offseason for the campus town has officially commenced - but this one looked fairly decent for what it was. The menu was also intriguing, with both sushi and Mediterranean-style cuisine. In my experience, jamming a bunch of random types of food onto a menu can be very hit or miss, but I wouldn't say that was really an issue here. We both had sticker shock or lack thereof when we looked at the cocktail menu. Margaritas are about $6, and "top shelf" ones are $8? Incredible stuff. I went with the top shelf frozen berries margaritas, and specifically requested Don Julio. That said - and maybe this is a reflection of my having a more adult palate than the college student target demo, or maybe I'm just officially a degenerate at this point - it wasn't a strong marg at all, and both of us ended up getting extra shots of Don Julio to make it taste better. So the additional tequila brought the total marg prices to $10, which is still incredible in my opinion, given what we're dealing with in the NYC metro area. Since we were on a pretty naughty vacation, I tried to tread water a bit and went with the salmon teriyaki bowl (about $20 I think). Honestly really hit the spot. The salmon was fresh/flavorful, and as you can see from the attached, a ridiculously generous portion. I wasn't in the mood for the accompanying side salad (again, I was on vacation), but the rice and salmon were a distant memory quickly enough. I was also kind of obsessed with the plate that it came on - I'm not really sure how to describe it other than that it looked like dishware you'd find in the Flintstones' house. It sort of looked like a sculpture of a piece of bent tree bark? I know, I'm not giving this justice. We also split the bang bang shrimp app, which was very good as well - maybe a TOUCH over-fried, but I think that's part of the package with the naughty appetizer section of a menu. Would get both of those items again in a heartbeat. The service was honestly pretty mediocre, and a big reason this ultimately was just an okay experience. A shame, given that we both legitimately liked the food. Our waiter was definitely confused by my chum's drink order (which, to be fair, WAS a little off the beaten path - she requested one of their non-alcoholic mango lychee lemonade, plus a separate shot of Don Julio), and our drinks ultimately showed up at the same time as our food. He also came back to our table after about 15 minutes to reconfirm her drink order. Not great, and a reminder that there's no harm in bringing a pen and a pad with you to the table. This wasn't terrible by any means, but was an uneven experience. Frankly, I think expectations should be a little tempered in a college town, where the average diner is probably in their early 20s and pretty low maintenance when it comes to their food and drink preferences. But if they figured out the service here, they'd really have something. read more

The food is very good. It sits nicely in the middle of downtown Blacksburg and offers several different food options. I ordered the chipotle sandwich and I thought it was very tasty. While the food and location are good, the service for drinks was a bit slow. They seemed to be a bit understaffed, and could have used a few more pairs of hands. The service was very nice and waiters were trying their best despite it being a busy day. If you're in Blacksburg and do not have a tight schedule I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Oh Wow! As a self professed sushi lover, this restaurant was amazing. The sushi was beyond delicious and the size of the shoe was medium to large pieces. They had so many options and choices (check out the menu in the picture) and its location in Blacksburg, VA is right across the street from Virginia Tech, which made it easy and accessible. The restaurant serves drinks and also serves a variety of other foods, such as kebabs, spring rolls, and dumplings just to name of you. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. The food came out quick and hot. And our drinks were awesome. We met A a couple of other North Carolina fans, as we were attending the Virginia Tech game in the restaurant, which provided us with a very " at home" feel. Now in regards to the sushi , I received two different roles each came with six and eight pieces not only were they beautiful in color, but the taste was super fresh, cucumber, crunchy, and avocado had no brown spots, which I loved. The time and the quality of food that they used to make the sushi was high. The cost for the sushi was comparable and for two people eating a meal, we were able to have two appetizers two meals all under $55 If you are in the area, you must visit this place. You will not be disappointed and that is truly the way that I feel about this restaurant and I wish I lived closer, so I could go every week. read more

Ate here for the first time in a bit and I am disappointed to say that this restaurant has gone downhill. My glass of wine was absolutely filthy, so I asked for another one, which also came back dirty. I asked for another glass for the third time, and it was dirty too. The other water cups were also clearly not washed well enough. The server who brought it the last time was incredibly rude and claimed that he "just washed it", and that the debris on the glass was from normal wear and tear when I was easily able to scrub it off with my napkin. I have never had this issue at any restaurant before. You would have thought the recent health inspection violation of not correctly cleaning food contact surfaces should have made them aware of this issue. Additionally, the service was slow and all of our food came to the table at different times. I gave it two stars because at least the food was decent, however, a hair was found rolled into my sushi. Greens, please hire better dishwashers and more servers as the restaurant is clearly understaffed. read more

So many places along the main streets of Blacksburg! BUT this place is a must visit. Lots of places close at 9:00p on a Saturday night. Not sure why in a college town but rules are rules. I called around to find a place that would take a party of 11 around 8:45p. Some places who advertised hours til 10 or 11pm would not even take any more diners. Green's Grill gladly accepted our reservation. For this, they deserve the stars! The staff was so inviting. I didn't get the name of our server but he was so great, attentive and diligently working to get us fed. The food is a mixed menu of sandwiches, sushi and entrees. Some of our party ordered the Shawarma dishes, fancy sushi rolls and a mix of appetizers. All the food came out in a timely manner and at the same time. Everything was delicious. I think the sushi here is very reasonably priced and tasty too! Definitely the best sushi offered in Blacksburg. I'm not sure how the other food at this restaurant is since I only go for the sushi. They have many options for sushi and have some of their own twists to certain rolls too. Probably need to get at least two rolls to get full if you're just eating the sushi here. Food sometimes takes a long time to come out though. You can pay at the front desk after you're done so you don't need to awkwardly sit at the table waiting for a check. Servers are nice, but service can be different here at times. Sometimes the tables and utensils are dirty which can be upsetting for some people. A plus is their bar area - I see that their renovations gave way to expanding the restaurant to twice its size. The overall condition of the building is pretty run down from not being kept/clean well. There were at least two house flies buzzing around us as we ate. The sushi rolls fall apart as soon as you pick them up, and the rice is really dry. The chicken shawarma (of which I ordered the platter, not the sandwich, but ended up getting the sandwich anyway because our server sucked) had like four pieces of chicken in it, and the rice was so flavorless. The server never came back around to us after giving us our food, as she ended up hanging out near the bar with a coworker. Our food also came out incorrectly - I asked for a Caesar salad (and she asked what dressing. ... Caesar dressing, dude, come on) and I asked for the chicken shawarma platter not the sandwich, without tomatoes. Literally everything was wrong. I got some garden salad (with tomatoes of course) and I got the sandwich not the platter. My friends' orders came out incorrectly too, except for the spicy tuna roll we ordered. It's just disappointing. I used to love this place. But it's unkempt and the service is sloppy and the food is so subpar. It's also the epitome of trying to do too much at once. Went here with family who lives in Blacksburg. I started the meal very frustrated and out of sorts because of the lousy service. Our waiter was just so clueless. The sushi is pretty good for this area, and includes unique rolls that capture the downtown spirit of Blacksburg. There's definitely something to eat for everyone! Great service as well - the owner is usually around and really cares about customers! He will check back on the table and the service is amazing. They also include a nice outdoor seating area. My only complaints are that the tables/utensils are sometimes dirty. I have had to ask for new utensils before, which was surprising. I am absolutely livid with Greens. I recently went to Greens expecting a healthy fast-casual meal that would help me feel my best. What I received was the exact opposite. Me and my friends came for our friends birthday. I ordered the spicy crunchy tuna sushi burrito & my first few bites were delicious until my throat started feeling fuzzy. Upon closer inspection there is crab salad in my burrito. I am allergic to crab and nowhere on the menu did it say that there was kani salad in the tuna burrito, which is why I ordered that one. I'm not very allergic to shellfish so I don't tell servers if it's not listed in the dish I wang because it's easy to avoid. Our server also was very inattentive the entire time. When it came time to pay (the next time we saw her since we had gotten our food) me and my friends told our server about what had happen and she could not care less.
