It's Phở Time! Vietnamese Cuisine's Menu
    Mark D.

I feel as though I do not take nearly enough advantage of It's Phở Time! being so close to my home. This Vietnamese restaurant is the best in Roanoke, VA in my opinion. While dining, you can see the staff hard at work with their open kitchen. Seating can be limited, yet comfortable, and you can order their food to go if it is too busy to wait for a table. I love how you order your food in a similar fashion to a lot of hotpot restaurants where the menu is a slip of paper that you check off what you would like. My favorite thing to order here is the Sliced Eye Round Steak Phở served with a side of basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime. Add some Tương Ớt Siêu Cay Super Hot Chili Sauce and you are talking about a bowl of pure magic for consumption. All of the vegetables added are like throwing in a delicious garden of fresh flavors. The thinly-sliced eye round steak is tender and soaks up the Phở flavors nicely. It's Phở Time! is a real treasure of a Vietnamese culinary experience in the Roanoke area. I can't wait to dine here again.

This family-owned restaurant makes every dish with old-country-style love. They have an interesting and simple method of ordering your food from a small, but well-developed menu that allows you to easily customize your dish. I've had the Pho, the Bun Mei, and the Bun Thit Nuong. (I always get an order of Spring rolls when I go too). The Pho and the Vietnamese Sandwiches stand up to any other I've had in my travels, and as a Pho lover, I've had a lot. The restaurant is small and quaint, and makes for a perfect lunch stop. If you are already a Pho fan, or if you are thinking of trying it, Its Pho Time is a great place to go.

I have been searching for some good international food since I moved here and I found it. This whole little corner has a couple different areas of the world that I can't wait to try out. Spring rolls were fresh, dipping sauces made in house and fantastic, pho broth was well developed and there was a lot of it. Price is great for what you get. Service is fine for a sit down place. You get a sheet where you check off what you want to order and put your name on it to ensure any mistakes are your own. Make sure you ask if you have questions, although they seem perfectly willing to fix mistakes that happen. Ambiance is quaint, family oriented with a small space with a select few tables. Mostly up to 4 but can be pushed together for larger parties. Make sure you call ahead if you have 5+ people eating or get there early. For as hidden as this place is they had a constant stream of customers both eat in and take out. Loved the fact that it was family owned. Three generations working in the restaurant.

It's in a multi business strip mall. This place is on the right side on the right corner near the hair salon. It's the plaza immediately after Cuban island. Parking is pretty full so I recommend coming on an off time. Friendly staff but they weren't very helpful with explaining things. Apparently you take a form and fill it out and take it to the register to order. For that reason, I don't think it's exactly table side service. And then you go back after eating to pay... would make more sense to pay when you order and pay again if there's anything additional. Doesn't make it convenient for disabled persons. The handicapped seating is in the back and the seats are pushed very close to the table on the opposite end so anyone sitting with a disabled patron will need to keep that in mind. The chairs don't adjust and it's a very tight fit for any normal sized adult to squeeze into and out of. Decent portion size. I didn't particularly care for the meat but it was much better than Viet Sub location in Roanoke on the opposite end of Williamson. The noodles were Al dente and the broth was on the oily side. The broth was also warm and not hot. There are only 2 choices of condiments. No water, only bottled water for purchase. Everything comes in a recycle container. I got the beef broth with several cuts of beef. Small portion of the veggies and herbs. I would come back but I do think there's room for improvement. I think it would be helpful to put a sign to let people know what they're supposed to do when they walk in instead of them standing at the doorway waiting to be seated or walking to the counter and grabbing the menu( why bother if you have to use the form?) before sitting down. I give the place a 3.9 and rounded it up to a 4. Food is a 3.75/5, service is a 3.5/5.

I am so excited to have another Pho restaurant in the area! It's Pho Time has only been open for a week at this point, so this review will be my first impressions of the brand new restaurant. I'm sure there will be changes made in the future, as they continue to adapt to their customer base and needs. I really love that it's a "seat yourself" situation. We initially chose a booth, but ended up having to move as one of the seats was wet. We ended up sitting at a small table for 2 which I felt was a little small considering the large Pho bowls and sides. I'd like to see that table paired with another so it's not so awkward. We were brought some menus and order sheets for the pho. I really liked being able to check off everything that I wanted in my pho. The waitress wrote the rest of our order on the tops of our order sheets. I feel like it may be more efficient to include the rest of the menu items on the sheet. Additionally, it may be useful to add some instructions or something to communicate when you *don't* want a specific topping on your pho. For example, I selected spring onions and sliced onions for my toppings. I do not like cilantro.... I ended up having to pick cilantro out of my bowl. I think it'd be best if you could emphasize that you do not want a particular topping or garnishment to help the kitchen out a bit. We ordered shrimp spring rolls & 2 bowls of vegetarian pho. We did end up having to wait a while for our food, but it wasn't too bad and I'm sure the kitchen is still finding their rhythm. The spring rolls were excellent and wrapped well. The peanut sauce was also great! Sometimes peanut sauce tastes like straight peanut butter, which is not optimal. This peanut sauce was definitely nutty, but not overpowering and was one of the better sauces I've had at a restaurant. The pho was pretty good too. The broth was basic, but solidly flavorful (we did get the veggie broth, so nothing fancy). I did think that the veggies were a little sparse. Their facebook page stated that the vegetarian pho would include corn, carrots, broccolis, and chinese bok choy - so I was pretty excited. The bowls we received had mini corn on the cob (which I wasn't expecting, but was still good) and broccoli. I feel pretty confident that they'd just run out of the carrots and bok choy, but I would've liked to have been made aware of that when we ordered. Just a simple "hey, just letting you know we're out of carrots & bok choy" would've gone a long way. It's also possibly that they just forgot it, but it's not that big of a deal either way. In the future, I'd really like to see more veggies in the veggie pho. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. It's clear that they take pride in their work and recipes. Overall my experience at It's Pho Time was great and I look forward to coming back!

This place does their menu a little differently than others. They have an a-la-cart style where you can pick the broth, the amount of noodles, which meats and toppings you want. They do large and small bows, we had the small bowls and they were a good size. They also have a loyalty program. We also had the shrimp spring rolls and they were very good as well.

I had beef pho, my wife had chicken pho, and we had an order of spring rolls. Everything was excellent. Ordering was a little weird, but the waitress was super helpful and it didn't detract from our experience.

Love the food, deep rich broth, great little place. Thai tea is a little expensive so I might not get it here, plenty of other places around town you can get that cheaper. But the pho is a good price and great quality and so are the spring rolls.

I'm not an expert in Vietnamese Cuisine, nor do I profess to be, but I can tell when I eat good food and I have discovered it in fancy restaurants as well as in many hole in the wall ones. Today I decided to get off the road most traveled, to end up in this Asian family-owned Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant. As I arrived I immediately saw its simple but very effective white sign with large black print with the restaurant's name and telephone number. Inside, the place was very clean starting from its large front window and glass door. Decorated very simple with plants, family items saved throughout the years, and artworks hanging from the walls, its shinny hardwood floor and simple lamps hanging from the ceiling, join with the nice looking wooden furniture to create the right amount of elegance and at the same time relaxed environment. I received a warm welcome and genuine greeting from a Vietnamese gentleman who had me take a seat and handed me the menu of the restaurant. To drink I ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was so rich and delicious with its condensed milk. For appetizer I ordered the Pork Spring Rolls served with a Peanut Dipping. For a better idea of how good they were, I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review, because a picture is worth a thousand words. As my main course I ordered the Stir Fry Noodles with Grilled Pork and Shrimps. It came out in a square, light green plate. And it both looked and tasted so good that I immediately identified with the best of Vietnamese Cuisine. In conclusion I highly recommend this Asian family-owned Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant for its amazing food, relaxed environment, wonderful customer service, and extraordinary dining experience.

It has no fancy restaurant front, no fancy landscaping, no nice trimmed green grass, and the two handrails of the three cement steps going up to the entrance door are rusted and almost falling down. Yet the small parking lot in front of the place is often full of cars during lunch and dinner time. But since it is often these hole in the wall restaurants that have the best ethnic foods, I decided today to go try it out. Just above the restaurant's building one can see the beautiful Mill Mountain in all its splendor with the green color of the Spring and above it, the Roanoke Star, highlighted by a beautiful blue sky high above it. You can appreciate this more by viewing my photographs that accompany this review. After I entered the restaurant through two simple glass doors, the inside of the restaurant was clean, with its walls painted white, its floor tiles nice and shiny, and its decor in the minimalist style with only nice looking furniture and nice original paintings and artworks evenly spread around the walls of the restaurant. It had large windows in the front that brought in bright light. Next to the windows and walls were dark red color booths and in the middle of the dining room were tables and chairs. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by a young man behind the host's station, who welcomed me with a big smile, handed me a copy of the menu, and asked me to take a seat at the table of my choice. After walking around I went and sat at a table that I not only could feel comfortable, but was situated in a central location with good light so I could observe the restaurant well and be able to take well lit photographs of the food items as soon as I was served and while enjoying my dining experience. The same host doubled as my server, and came by my table with a happy smile to see if I was ready to order. To drink I ordered the CAFE SU ADA, a Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk. As appetizer I ordered Ha Cao, Deep Fried Pork Dumplings served with mixed fish sauce. I also ordered their Goi Cuon Tom 2 Cuon, a shrimp, lettuce, and noddle rolled up with a rice paper, and served with peanut butter sauce. As the main course I ordered their Com Suon, Steamed Jasmine Rice with a Grilled Pork Chop. While ordering I talked with the server and he told me that this was a family owned and run business, together with the AA Asian Market that was inside the same building with an entrance from the restaurant. His mother seemed to be the cook, and his father in charge of running the Market. Through my experience I have found that this is very tipical in many ethnic groups restaurant businesses. The food all came out at once, even though I told my server that I would like my appetizers first. So I would recommend you order the appetizer first and after you're done eating it then order your main course, so the second doesn't get cold and you have more time to enjoy both while conversing with your guests. Everything was delicious: the dumplings, the pork, and the shrimp roll, although I found the rice paper a bit too thick and sticky, making it a bit difficult to handle. The sauces accompanying the food were also extremely good tasting. When I asked what they had for dessert, my server walked to the Market and brought me one of their popular desserts. Not knowing what it was, I ate it anyway. The sweet sauce was good but I didn't care much for the pieces of some type of pieces of a vegetable it had inside. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a wonderful Vietnamese Cuisine dining experience. Both the food and the service were great. So much so that I feel in the process I got to learn more about their culture as well.

This Asian fusion restaurant in the Cave Spring area of Roanoke, is definitely one of my favorite restaurants of all times. And my first visit and review is something that I will always hold very dear. When you finish reading this review I invite you to go back and read that review and view my photographs accompanying that review, for it was a very unique dining experience that I will never forget. From the time you arrive at this restaurant the contemporary building design seems to beckon you to approach and enter. I love their unique logo design made up of letters and a number of a particular font that communicates a certain air of distinction. Once inside, you're like in another world altogether. If the outside of the building was impressive, the interior immediately captures your attention and mesmerizes you with it's beauty. When I arrived today, a very lovely and distinguished lady, dressed very elegantly, welcomed me and led me to the table of my choice. Later did I find out that she was the owner of the restaurant, and I had an opportunity of talking with her about the restaurant, its Sushi Bar, and Sushi chefs. Soon after, my friendly server, who was from Indonesia, came to introduce himself and take my order. To drink I had a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was served in a tall glass and tasted marvelous. As appetizer, I had the Dim Sum Platter. It contained 3 shrimp dŕhumai, 3 pork dumplings, 3 pork wasabi shumai, and 2 roasted pork buns. One of those items was extremely spicy, I had to drink water to cool down. The others tasted reasonably good. As my main entrée I had the Lobster Tail Tempura Maki. It was very colorful and tasted, and completely filled me up. My original server did an excellent job serving me the food and coming by to check on me. But then he disappeared and another server, also Indonesian came to bring me my main entrée. I think it might have been a shift change, but feel the first server should have let me know about this fact. But if the first server wad excellent, the second was amazing. He answered all the questions I had about items on the menu, and while delivering special dishes to other customers, he allowed me to photograph this food for the benefit of the readers of this review. Then, at the end, he helped me choose the dessert to have for the Grand Finale of my meal: the Banana Basket. It was amazingly delicious and had slices of bananas, kiwi, mangos, whipped cream, and strawberries. And topped with caramel and chocolate sauces. Considering its friendly and relaxing ambiance, its extensive menu with a wide range of Asian dishes, from traditional Chinese entries to a full sushi bar with raw and cooked options, and its amazing customer service, I definitely highly recommend this restaurant from my own experience. Every time I've dined there I've had an exceptional fine dining experience, and as I'm leaving I'm already looking forward to returning.

The decor of the place is nothing fancy nor modernized and many of the furniture are a bit run down. The "make believe" what looks like a fountain, without water, in the entrance is nothing to brag about and the artwork on the wall look kind of cheap. As one enters the restaurant there is an order and pay counter where a person who seems like the manager gives you a warm greeting with a smile and efficiently takes your order, charges you and has one of the hosts take you to your booth. The price for the buffet is not too expensive and considering the large selection of food items available, this may be what continues to attract many people to eat at this place. We decided to eat here today because other buffets and opened restaurants around had a wait of more than an hour. Once you're seated at your booth, a server is assigned to bring you your drink and refills, and to remove your empty dishes once you finish eating what's on them. We had a very friendly and efficient young man who was always coming around to check on us with a smile and providing exceptional customer service. Now, if we talk about the food, which is the main reason one goes to a restaurant in the first place, leaves much to be desired. The quality of many of the items available is very poor and/or not cooked well. The turkey slices served were dry and not to fresh as well as many of the seafood items were lukewarm and not freshly served. The fried shrimps were crunchy and warm, however they were flat and not plumpy. The Sesame Chicken seemed to have more batter than meat. Even the squid looked and tasted cheap and was not warm. The Sushi Bar had a few variety of Suchi but they lacked craftsmanship. So much so that I didn't even dare to try one, and the employees working that station didn't encourage me either when they saw me there. In the Hibachi area, I noticed that the grill was not too cleanand the cook manding this area did not accommodate me when I asked if I could add two eggs to my items before he served them. If management addresses some of the above issues I mentioned, I think this Buffet restaurant will have a better chance to successfully grow its clientele and not lose many. I invite all of you reading my review to go experience for yourself if they have followed my recommendations, and this can only be done by trying you out.
