I have utilized massage services for several years and have used the big names in the industry who I will not name today. My right shoulder had been bothering me for sometime. I could not throw a baseball or even reach behind my seat in the car without significant pain. I finally decided to go to my orthopedic doctor -- he manipulated the shoulder and determined that I had damaged the rotator cuff and that i could either get a cortisone or he could schedule surgery -- neither options sounded good to me -- so I lived with the pain for almost a year. I found Ninotch and decided to treat my self to a nice massage. In the initial interview Tatiana asked about any injuries and / or problems I have been experiencing. I told her about the tightness in my lower back and my right shoulder situation -- mostly so she would be gentle with it. . Tatiana worked on me for just over an hour and she paid special attention to my shoulder. When I stood up I was able to move my right arm in a throwing motion with virtually no pain. I went home and threw a tennis ball for my dog for the first time in over a year. I now make it a point to get a massage at least once a month and while they used to relax me -- the massages from Ninotch reinvigorates me and I am able to get more accomplished n less time. I have had massages from Seth and Hannah. Both are beyond amazing, they are the epitome of professionals in their field, they are educated on the body and know all the right spots to knead away the aches and pains. I've recently had a mini facial with Ana and she was perfect. It was quick and did the job, my face feels smooth and clean. I found this place on yelp and It was just alright. I got microdermobrasion from Justine and she was nice and friendly but the result was not super great. I understand results vary from person to person but I've paid cheaper price for other estheticians and I saw results right away so I don't know what she missed but service /front desk were nice so i gotta give them 3 overall but treatment itself was ok - i wouldn't go again and it's a bit pricy. read more

Being a first time spray-tanner, I was super nervous. When I called to inquire about a spray tan they were extremely patient and helpful. My trial run was mediocre, but when I went back for my spray tan before my wedding Layla help me select the perfect shade and gave me instructions on how to maintain my tan so it'll look perfect for my wedding day. Needless to say everyone kept complimenting me on my "tan" on my wedding day, even my make up artist who does spray tans herself! I wish I could give this place 50 stars! I am a pretty low-key beauty kind of girl and was terrified of getting my first spray tan for fear of ending up the color of a cheeto-colored business tycoon, but my fears were totally misguided. The salon itself is extremely clean, relaxing, and pretty, and parking is easy. Besides the obvious slight awkwardness of standing naked or nearly naked in front of a complete stranger (side note: you do have to bend over a bit, so I would def. never go without a thong or something on ha), getting the spray tan itself was quick and easy. I was with Tatiana, who was sweet and funny, and also very clear about how to stand while she was spraying. Because I was so concerned about color, Tatiana went a bit lighter (bonus that really sets this place apart: they mix the color to match your skin tone), but I actually wish I'd gone much darker! I loved the color before I even washed the bronzer off--even after, the lighter (actual) color still looked awesome. I landed in Mexico for a vacation and felt like a Grecian goddess. My legs alone went from looking near-translucent to naturally tanned and golden. I felt 100x better about being in a bathing suit in November, and the color lasted for about a week before wearing off without any sign of patchiness (as I got an actual tan in the sun). I live about 45 min. away in Annapolis, but Ninotch is absolutely worth the drive. True story: I ran into Michael Fassbender about 10x on my vacation and ended up chatting with him for a minute...I am 99.4% sure that he thought I was cute, and I probably owe that to the tan (okay, he was with his gorgeous actress girlfriend, but I'm still pretty sure he was thinking "Dang, this golden beachy babe is just as cute as my GF!") Ninotch (pronounced nee-nosh) is a fantastic find, tucked away in obscurity on the second floor of the Connor Building on Wisconsin Ave. It was formerly known as the Maryland Massage Therapy Center." I recently had my wedding in Maryland and wasn't sure where to go for salon services. A nice lady (Stephanie) at the Bella salon referred me here (will write a seperate review for Bella). So in spite of there being 0 Yelp reviews (*gasp*) I took a chance and scheduled an appointment for waxing and tanning 2 days before my wedding. Both services were great, especially the tanning! The quality of this tan was way better than the ones I get in So Cal, and it was organic to boot :) Check it out, you won't be sorry. read more

I go to Lana for waxing, and I highly recommend her. She is very professional and kind. The suite she works in is immaculate, and the whole salon has a positive vibe about it. Please note that although Ninotch accepts credit cards, Lana is a subcontrator, and she only takes cash or checks. Everyone I've dealt with on Ninotch's staff is great. They also have a small boutique featuring natural body products. Moreover, the building that Ninotch is just 3 blocks from Bethesda Metro station, and has free parking in the back. 5 Stars for Ninotch! I've only done airbrush tanning here, so I can't vouch for the other services such as massage and waxing. The salon is in a nondescript building that you can enter from Woodmont Avenue or Wisconsin Avenue. However, the interior of their space really does feel like a luxurious escape. The lobby area has different products for sale, and a quiet, relaxing feel. Each time I've come in, I've been offered hot tea or water. Lillly did my spray tans every time. She always provided me an even, perfect tan and was very helpful in knowing which color tan to use on my pale skin. She was even able to give me a slightly darker color on my legs and body (slimming!) and a tad lighter color on my face (not fake looking!). I was able to get in and out on my lunch hour - no waiting around or even taking really long for a full body tan. At $45 for a spray tan, their price is hard to beat. Why would you even want to try to find a better price when Ninotch and Lilly are so good at what they do. Once the weather gets a little warmer and I'm not wearing long pants and turtlenecks every day, I'll definitely be back at Ninotch. read more

went to Ninotch for 2 spray tans - 1 test tan and 1 tan for my wedding. these are the only spray tans i've ever done. Layla Chavez was the person who sprayed me. Each tan turned out perfect! i'll go back to Ninotch & Layla whenever i need a spray tan. and my dermatologist is thrilled i'm no longer tanning outside or on a tanning bed. I went there for a spray tan before a trip to Mexico and it was wonderful. The best spray tan I've ever gotten period. (I've reviewed others in the area). They were super friendly, made everything very comfortable, the color was just right-pretty much perfect. And they have parking which is nice in downtown Bethesda. I grew up in Bethesda, and have since moved away, but anytime I'm home again I make sure to try and get an appointment here. If you are able to book Rose, you are one lucky massage recipient! I think her schedule is usually booked pretty solid as she works with professional sports teams, but is worth a wait. I am a professional dancer, and I go get massages on a regular basis- and Rose is honestly the best I have ever seen. I work with PTs and really talented masseuses on a daily basis, but she is the best at working out all my kinks, and usually getting to everything in only an hour. I have seen at least 2 others on the staff there, and they are also very talented, if not quite to Rose's standard. This place is pretty pricey, but completely worth it. It's also in a weird strip mall, where they will tow you car if you don't immediately go into the building, but the spa itself is nice and relaxing, but definitely small and locally owned. They also sell gift certificates if you want your friends or family to feel really indebted to you! read more

Being someone who is very fair and has sensitive skin, achieving a nice, natural tan has always been a challenge for me. Either I go to the beach for long enough to feel the burn, or I'm always pale. I had my first airbrush tan at Ninotch over a year ago and haven't turned back since! Usually, because of my hectic schedule, I would try to squeeze in to Tatiana's schedule since she's always there and is an absolute pro! After my schedule opened up I had the chance to tan with Nathalie over the summer, she did a fabulous job assessing my skin and applying an even, long lasting tan that was appropriate for my pale, naked booty. I went to Ninotch yesterday to do a light spray, and got to meet Kelly the new Airbrush tech at Ninotch. She was completing her training and I was up for an adventure, so I gave her a try. Kelly is an absolute natural. She made me feel comfortable, let me take my time to get ready, and also deciphered what product was best for me after a lengthy, non-specific description of what I wanted (Thanks for the ADHD tendencies mom xoxo) I am usually about the color of a shortbread cookie (not as sweet), and I now look like I spent a weekend at the beach- lightly golden and absolutely natural in appearance. I think this is the first review I've ever written for yelp, and I put it off for almost a year - but I'm still frustrated re: my experience. I'm super pale and have had skin cancer, so avoid the sun as much as I can. In 2012, I had a big wedding to attend in Mexico, and I wanted to look less ghostly on the beach. I was nervous, so I booked two airbrush sessions at Ninotch, figuring I could test out a tan before leaving for my trip. The first session was great, and I loved the color - so I booked the second session for the afternoon before my flight. All seemed fine, until I got home and realized that the technician had totally missed the back of one of my arms - leaving a huge obvious line between the tan part and my usual pale skin. So, I found myself making a frantic phone call and subsequent return trip to Ninotch from Silver Spring to have the tan corrected. I really hadn't planned on killing several hours to get a tan, and I totally missed a pre-trip event with my friends. To her credit, the owner told me to come right back and she'd fix it for me. However, when I arrived, the owner was nowhere in sight and the technician who had done my botched tan said, "yep, that looks bad" - and then fixed the mistake with no apologies. So, I did have a great tan for my trip to Mexico. But the experience was pretty frantic and not fun - very frustrating when I thought I had gone to great lengths to avoid any surprises. Now, I find myself facing another trip to the beach and I'm looking for another airbrush tan - but I'm reluctant to return.., read more

I've visited Ninotch several times for massages over the past year or so and although Bethes is a bit of a trek from my house, I haven't found another place that comes close in quality and ambiance. I don't know, I just get an "I like this place" feeling every time I come here. Maybe I just really love massages. Or maybe, like casinos, they pump extra oxygen into the air to give patrons a high...or is that just a myth?! Anyway, I've never had the pleasure of seeing Tatiana but have received great massages from another female masseuse, Gabrielle. I even purchased a gift card for my man and can't wait for him to try this place out. Parking in the next door garage is kind of a pain (and it took me a minute to figure out how to get in and out on my first visit) but it's free and where in Bethesda do you NOT have to park in a garage? Also, I've received conflicting info regarding their affiliation with SpaFinder. I have a gift card and although the SF lists Ninotch as a participant, I was told by front staff that they in fact will not accept their cards. However, I've seen contradictory evidence on their website, so not sure what the deal is. Definitely nothing to dissuade me from ever going back or paying full price for their services, though. read more

I've looked for weeks at where I should get a spray tan and finally came upon and decided to go with Ninotch. The online booking was very easy and straightforward, and the staff was friendly when I called to make sure the appointment had gone through. I was spray tanned by Tatiana, and it was absolutely perfect. The process was explained to me and we spoke about what kind of tan I wanted and what would work best with my particular skin tone. Colleague and I needed a massage after long travels from CA and found this excellent place on Yelp! From booking the appointment, parking and arriving in the lobby-- the staff were highly professional and responsive to our individual needs (i.e. massage preferences, scheduling, etc.). The facility was clean; and Tatiana was able to get knots out that I didn't even know I had. I greatly appreciated the organic non-greasy products she used. THE BEST Spray tan around. Tatianna applied my tan to the perfect shade with great care. The organic product they use is not at all sticky and leaves your skin feeling nourished and natural. I looked like I had a healthy glow and light tan. No streaking, no dark spots and no orange hue. It faded slowly and evenly after about a week. I went to Ninotch to get my first spray tan. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. Layla did an amazing job and I definitely recommend her, especially if you are new to spray tans and are a bit nervous. The process was pretty seamless- sign in, get sprayed, dry off. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Quick update: I must of been so excited about my tan that I left my wallet on the bench outside. Someone living in the above condo building returned my wallet to the Ninotch front desk (Thank you, stranger!!!). I got a call and email immediately from the front desk. I've been going to Lana for several years and she is very through and meticulous, as well as friendly and easy to work with, something you definitely want in the person who does your bikini and Brazilian! I'm sorry. I wanted to give this nice, updated salon a good rating. I wanted to make it my go-to tanning spot. Alas, I cannot. I would like to start by saying that the place is very clean, Layla was very patient and understanding, but the results were just disastrous. I have three events this week and I have no idea what i am going to do because this spray-tan is a complete mess. I followed all the aftercare instructions. I didn't wear anything tight fitting for 12 hours. I waited overnight to shower. I made sure not to sweat and at night i didn't even use a blanket, just a sheet, the air conditioner and a fan to make sure things didn't get too sweaty. I woke up to my pillowcase being cased in all the color from one side of my face. Not a pretty picture. I took a shower and color just oozed off in rivlets. I was left with splotchy, uneven, orange color. They called to follow up and I had to tell them the truth. I sent pictures and requested a refund. I am hoping they will agree. Will update. read more

I got an airbrush tan 2 days before my wedding and Tatiana did a great job. She took time to consult with me and customize the solution to work with my skin color and the tan level I wanted to achieve. I had a beautiful even tan and sun-kissed look afterwards. No nasty orange looking tan. Make sure however you follow their instructions (try not to sweat too much afterwards or wear tight clothing). I made a mistake of wearing my bra right away and walking to the metro on a warm day. Since the bra is pretty tight and I sweat a little, there were some uneven spots around my bra because of that. Tatiana even called the next day to make sure I was happy with the way my tan developed (which I was). Highly recommend Ninotch. read more

I would HIGHLY recommend Val at Ninotch for myofascial release for people who feel they have "knots" in their muscles they just can't work out. It is SO SOOTHING as a runner and avid workout junkie (trains 6-7 per week). I spent an hour with Val as she worked on my right leg from my thighs to my calves. I regularly have tightness in my IT band and lateral quad. The soft, dull, and SLOW pressure in the myofascial technique is the release I've been looking for. I do still use my running stick ("The Stick"), but the myofascial technique allows me to feel all over calming relief through my toes and low back even. When I walk out of the room when Val is done, my legs feel brand new. The best part is - before I leave - she moves the massage table out of the way, pulls out a foam roller and some small squishy therapy balls, and shows me on the carpet how I can perform similar technique on myself at home - as to avoid coming in as much (but it's just so fun to visit Ninotch). As for the kinesio taping - Tatiana's advice, knowledge and experience has helped my athletic performance so much that I talk to her before I see my orthopedist.
