I had a great experience with the 70-minute basic massage at the Rockville location. Emma analyzed my scalp health and then worked some magic releasing the tension in my feet, head, and shoulders. The ginger and mint shampoo felt tingly and cooling. The room was cozy and relaxing. I liked the warm eye mask and soft towels. My favorite part was the arched water fountain/ faucet! I also had no problem redeeming a gift certificate; it was automatically applied to my account. My only critique is that the walls are pretty thin and the treatment room is right next to the drying station. I silenced my phone but could hear another phone going off during my massage and by the end heard lots of talking and blowdrying. Maybe enforcing a quiet rule or putting soundproofing on the treatment room door would help that. Overall, I hope to come back and I'd recommend, especially Emma! read more

So I'm definitely upping my review because I've had so many good experiences (except for maybe 1 incident). It's an appointment based setting so they do not accept walk-in's but are somewhat flexible to same-day time changes depending on availability. I've actually booked a 9 AM appointment for tomorrow but plan to change to 7 PM since I picked up a morning shift at work. Calling the location makes adjustments go faster. It's a bit small, however this is probably one of the more affordable heads spas in Maryland. I went to one in Chicago which was $79 for an hour with cash. read more

My bestie surprised me with tickets to the Japanese head spa that opened up in Rockville and we had the best time. We technically booked for the couples Japanese head spa, but all that meant was that we were in the same room side-by-side. It started out with a scalp inspection and then we moved to the room where we got in some robes and then we were told to soak our feet and then lay down after our feet were soaked. They gave us a foot and calf massage and then started on a neck, shoulder and upper back massage. After that, they moved to the head spa portion and got rid of all the buildup and leftover product and sebum on our scalp. My scalp has never felt so clean and I felt like the massage was invigorating and relaxing. I felt like something unlocked in me that had been stuck probably my entire life. Old tension released that I've never been able to relax. After that, they dried and brushed our hair, and added in some hair oils. Then they did the scalp inspection again so we could see the before and after. The entire process was 70 minutes long. Sofi was my technician and she did an amazing job. I would absolutely be back and my scalp, now a few days later, has never felt cleaner. I have volume in my hair that I haven't seen in a long time and my hair just looks healthier and cleaner. read more

The first time I went I had the 90 minute upgraded head spa with Christina and it was heavenly. I had terrible pain due to TMJ that day and her head massage and lymphatic massage made it go away like magic. It was worth every penny. So then I made another appointment online for a 90 rejuvenation massage and requested Christina. When I arrived, I got another lady instead with no explanation. It was a lackluster massage. I've had many and this did not feel like she was a trained masseusse. During the massage she used her phone to play relaxing music but every time her phone rang, the music stopped and I heard the phone ring. I was okay with it at first but after the fourth time it got annoying. During the 90 minutes her phone rang a total of 8 times! So now, I am torn. I had the most wonderful head spa experience and also a most unrelaxing subpar massage. The issue is that when you call, a bot answers. Appointments can only be made online and when you request a specific person, that is not always honored. (A family member went as well, requested a specific person and that was disregarded as well.) I went for my birthday and had a really relaxing time during my appointment- however I felt like I was waiting for a while at the start of my appointment to the point that the water got a bit cold by the time my massage actually started and the blow dry was very basic. Ever since head spas have become all the rage I've been wanting to try one out and after a lot of research landed on Serenity Head Spa. And my friend and I had the most amazing experience this week! We both had the 70-minute head spa service and it was so relaxing. The spa is easy to find, clean and welcoming. We were in the couples room and were laughing about that but it didn't take away from the experience and I was fully relaxed. Had a wonderful experience here! They do a scalp consultation and talk you thru it. I love that the foot soak is included on the bed so you don't have to get up or walk in between services. The scrub was so delicious smelling and my hair felt so soft afterward. So yelpers...have y'all seen y'all's scalps up close and personal?? Well, if you want to know..let me tell you that it is quite fascinating!! Ive first seen this treatment on social media, and I had no idea that Serenity Head Spa was opening up a 2nd location in Rockville, and would offer this extensive and relaxing treatment. The place is new and very clean. They also offer body massages and couples massage. So briefly- they 1st take a look at your scalp under a specialized magnifying camera..and then they go over their findings with you, while you watch your magnified scalp on screen. See pictogram for reference. Then they lead you to a private room, where you change into their spa garments, lay on a table that has built in sink/wash basin on one end, and a pedicure-like foot tub on the other end. From here-your treatment is based on your spa package. All treatments include a foot soak, followed by a foot/lower leg massage; then a very relaxing head, neck, AND scalp massage; and a ginger-herbal scalp scrub, hair wash and masque. I got the 90 min upgraded serenity head spa pkg-so that included a lymphatic drainage face massage and a mini facial, as well as a steam treatment for my face and hair. Also, I have curly-coily natural hair, and my technician was very gentle with my textured hair, yet thorough with cleansing my scalp. Even though she tried to reassure me that she had experience with my hair type and texture, I was a bit concerned with how things would go, but she did an amazing job. Anyone with a similar hair pattern-please do not be deterred. I will preface by saying that I THROUGHLY detangled my hair before my treatment using a detangling leave-in conditioner, so my hair and scalp were oily on arrival. My hair curl strands can snap (break) if they're dry and improperly handled, so this was my way of protecting my hair during the initial parts of the treatment. I also scheduled a hair appt with my personal hair dresser to follow, and I did not have the technician blow dry my hair. She did gently towel dry it, and I headed straight to my hair dresser with slightly damp hair. I planned this out just in case things went "left", but honestly- it was totally fine. My hair dresser checked my scalp and hair, and she was very impressed. She specializes in natural hair care and treatments, and she remarked how incredibly soft my hair felt. I plan to do this again in a few weeks to get my scalp as healthy as possible...and it's soo relaxing! I will only book the same technician. I was happy to hear that a head spa opened in Rockville, MD. I made an appointment to receive their Supreme Spa Package (100 minutes). It's a cozy spot...location is a bit tricky to find, but they do have ample parking. I was greeted by a very friendly staff member and was offered some tea or water. My session started with the scanning of my scalp and hair follicles. She explained what a healthy scalp should look like, etc. It was also explained what treatments I will be receiving. I was guided to the room where my treatment would be done and I changed into the spa garment that's provided.  Here are my thoughts: Pros: -Friendly and Attentive Staff -Clean Spa Room -Love the Spa Garment -Blanket/Towel were soft -Foot Massage was good -Head Treatment was great (acupressure/shampoo/steam) -Lymphatic Massage was good (def can tell it was needed) -Facial was good (due to acupressure) -Pay in cash and you will receive $20.00 off your treatment Cons: -Foot soak was pointless (no plastic lining/no essential oils - soak lasted 5 minutes) -Foot/Lymphatic Massage could've been longer If I decide to do it again; I will just get the Basic Serenity Package and pay in cash. read more

I went to Serenity Head Spa a few weeks ago for an upgraded head spa experience (90 minutes) and enjoyed the experience. The head spa experience was nice and included everything I've come to expect from past experiences: a view of your scalp up close before and after the service, a scalp massage, a shampoo, a cooling scalp treatment, a scalp steam, etc. It also included a foot massage and a neck massage, which was an extra bonus. The service was very good, and I definitely left feeling clean and refreshed. It's in the middle range of head spa prices, but you get quite a bit for your buck here. It's small (maybe just 1-2 rooms), but it was clean and nice. Overall, I had a really nice experience! I recommend it if you're a seasoned head spa person or if you're trying your first head spa experience! read more

My husband and I thought this place was very mediocre. The massages were not great and the head washing I felt like I could just do at home as well. I was hoping there was be a multiple step process but there wasn't. Our heads were already quite clean when we entered so it was hard to tell how effective it was. The staff was also playing the music quite loudly from their phones that were ringing in our ears so it also wasn't very relaxing. We won't be returning. read more

We had the couples 70 minute Serenity Head Spa and massage and Sophia and Linda did AMAZING treatments for us. It was our first experience here and we left asking: how can we do this every week?? Bonuses were: the scalp analysis beforehand and afterwards; the foot and leg massage; the lymphatic draining; and the dry scalp massage leading into the incredible circular rain shower around our heads. The essences they use are lovely along with the ginger shampoo; a super cool surprise for both of us was the neck wash!! SO RELAXING and can't wait to visit again! I feel compelled to write this review as this was not only my first ever headspa experience, but also with this business. Please take this into consideration when reading my review. I have very mixed feelings and overall have some points that I was disappointed in. The overall ambiance is a small comfy clinic, however during the treatment, I felt like I was not in confident hands. I will make a bulleted list to share my further thoughts: -the worker who was assigned to me had a language barrier which made it difficult to communicate, instruct, guide me appropriately. While she was sweet and you could tell she was still pretty new, I did have to "adapt" and figure out what was expected which was not a great first experience. -if i mentioned pressure was a little too firm, she would lighten slightly then forget and go full body-shaking force on my head. Not always the best feeling and at this point I decided to just sit through with it (I understand I could've spoken up, but this was my first experience and all of it was very new to me. There was also an anxiousness of disrupting her flow) -there was a lot of flustered back and forth in the room whether it was setting up, preparing, or remembering to do something, all while I was lying down (this was both at the beginning of the treatment and throughout). Not sure I was able to relax much, but I was still enjoying this new experience that I was super excited for. -by the near end, my head was almost being thrown side to side in a seemingly rushed manner -at the end of the treatment, I was sat up with my entire bare back exposed from a shoulder massage. The worker then tells me it's over and to change so we can blow dry (very quick short instructions). Without buttoning my top or giving me to time to collect myself, she runs out and opens the door. I felt EXTREMELY exposed and sat there slightly flabbergasted with my back bare facing the now shut door. (mind you, the clinic is very small where the window to outside is visible with the door open). -When my hair was blowdried, she went into her "sterilized oven" contraption to grab a hair comb. There was none in there and I watched as she was confused/stumped. She then proceeds to use the one in the cart by the blowdryer, rushed seeing as we were probably 20-30 minutes over the allotted time. Shortly after, another worker comes out and puts a hair comb in the sterilizer (this is how I realized she did not use a clean comb on me), and the worker assigned to me puts the hair comb she used on me in as well. I was disgusted but overall wanted to just finish because 5 feet behind me were the customers who had an appointment and had been waiting. -As I was paying, I am told cash payment gets you $20 off. I was unaware and disappointed it wasn't advertised online or I wouldve came with cash instead. I let her know I'll reluctantly be paying with card and ask how much my total is. She tells me $189, which I ask why the $20 off special advertised online wasnt applied. She tells me it was for cash only (this was NOT specified anywhere online. I show her my phone where I was confirmed to have my $20 off without any specifications that cash was mandatory for this deal, which she looks at and takes my phone to a different room to show her manager. I was puzzled why she left with my phone... but besides the main point, I could tell no one was on the same page. I was given an exception and received my $20 off in the end. Overall, I personally will not be going back. My dealbreaker was the non sterile comb being used. All other points made could be because they are still situating their business system/practice which is understandable. I'm not sure how long they've been open to have this justification. I did greatly enjoy the decollate massage and other points throughout the treatment, however personally they were not enough to dismiss the points I made above. read more
