We tried Nirvana for the first time tonight and found out that six days ago it was actually renamed Saath. It is located in a strip mall right across the street from HomeGoods and Kohl's at the intersection of 202 and Skippack Pike (73). We were the only diners in on a Wednesday night, but the space was lovely and the food was fantastic. We had excellent service by Happy Grover (see pic). We shared two different types of cauliflower (Happy recommended the Gobi Manchurian and it was really great) and one lamb dish and everything was fantastic. It is a BYOB and they brought a cute little Bucket of ice for our wine. There was definitely takeout activity while we were there and we would definitely go back. read more

WOW. I have been looking for a local Indian place and Nirvana exceeded my expectations. The food is incredible!! I ordered the paneera tikka Masada and it was perfectly spiced and the sauce was the way I like it. A deep red, fragrant tomato sauce. The garlic naan was nice and thin, loaded with garlic. I enjoyed the onion kulcha as well. The gulab was perfection. I cannot stand when the balls are doughy and heavy. These are homemade and very light. The service was excellent as well. This restaurant is the literal opposite of Nirvana. It is Hell. The first thing that happened when we walked in was the waitress said we could sit anywhere we wanted. We were a party of four. I chose a table and she immediately said we couldn't sit at it because there were only three glasses on it. I said, "can we please take the fourth glass from one of the other tables then?" She begrudgingly grabbed a glass from the neighboring table, put it on our table, and said, "I am very busy." (We were literally the only people in the entire restaraunt for the first 15 minutes we were there.) I said, "I could have moved the glass," and she said, "Oh, no. That would not be good." After she got done throwing a temper tantrum about having to move a glass a few inches, from one table to another, she disappeared. She finally took our drink order. While she was taking our drink order, we gave a lengthy and clear explanation that my mother, who is 80 years old, has a medical condition in her mouth where her gums ulcerate and bleed if she eats spicy food. It is an autoimmune condition, and she cannot have any hot pepper or spice. Like none. zero. We asked if the chef could make her an appetizer that was not spicy at all. The waitress checked with the kitchen and first said that the mushrooms were pre-marinated in spicy marinade, but then went back to the kitchen and came back insisting that they could make the grilled mushrooms with zero spice. So we order them. And of course they come and they're super spicy. So I tell the waitress that the mushrooms are spicy, and she starts arguing with me, claiming that the chefs did not use any hot pepper. They absoutely 100% did use a lot of hot pepper. Luckily, the table right next to us was having the exact same problem as we were. Both I and the woman next to me were explaining to the waitress that the food absolutely had a lot of hot spicy pepper in it, and the waitress continued to argue with us. Since my mom could not eat the appetizer, we asked whether there was ANYTHING the chefs could make her to eat without hot pepper. She said the chicken korma would be fine with zero spice. So my mom orders the chicken korma and it comes out and of course, it is spicy and has hot pepper in it. Now, mind you, the other three people in our party (me, my husband, and our friend) love spicy food. My mom's problem is medical. I understand that the restaurant is Indian food and that Indian food is generally spicy. Now, you might ask "why go to an Indian restaurant if you don't like spicy food?" The answer is that is was Diwali, and my mother wanted to be included in the celebration. She is 80. She wanted to spend time with her family and friends. She wanted to come to the restaurant. She was hoping that they could make even one thing and just simply omit any spices that have heat. But they were incapable of, or unwilling to do so. They did not care one bit about her medical issue. They lied and then argued with us. I mean, just come clean. If you don't give a s*** about your customers and you refuse to omit the spices with heat, just say so. Just say, "No, we will not omit the spices with heat. We don't care and we don't want to. We don't care about you or your medical issue. We will make it how we like it, not how you like it, even though you are paying us a lot of money for this food." Just come clean. Thank God for the table next door. They came over to our table to commiserate with us about how the food was inedible. They said they had been going there for a while, but every time they go, the food gets spicier and spicier to the point that tonight, they couldn't eat anything. Now the rest us in our party were fine with the heat level, but the main dishes were drastically oversalted. The waitress was rude the whole time, and very argumentative. Now once did she apologize for anything. Instead, she kept insisting that there was no spice in the food. Totally false. The chefs are callous liars. My mom's mouth is paining her now, and she is hungry, having had nothing to eat at this horrible place. It was a nightmarish, disasterous experience. Never, ever again. read more

Nirvana Indian Bistro is a great new entrant into the Blue Bell, PA restaurant scene. They have another location, which I had visited in the past. Both restaurants have good quality, well seasoned menu items. I highly recommend ordering the bread basket, so you can choose a nice selection of any three naans. I've tried a few different menu items and all were delicious, especially the shrimp dishes. So, a clear five stars for the food. The problem I have is that I'm not very familiar with Indian cuisine. I can never remember the names of the dishes that I like. The waiters, while otherwise helpful, are not good at describing the menu items. So, I find it a bit confusing. I think I'll just have to eat there more often so I can get to know the cuisine better. read more

I am absolutely obsessed with nirvana their flavors are always impeccable and I'm told due to the infusion of Nepal flavors in their cooking. The Gobi Manchurian is hands down the best I've tried probably 20 different variations all around the nation and the crisp and flavor with this Gobi is unreal. My biggest complaint over the the past year I have watched my exact meal go from $12.95 to $19.95 a meal for the two of us cost $65.87 delivered. For essentially rice cauliflower potatoes and sauce. Very very cheap to produce I would understand if there was meat involved but there isn't. We order from here typically 2-4 times a month and may have to slow that down due to their insane price increase. Please consider making vegetarian options a bit more affordable as meat prices are on the rise. Still giving this place a 5 star because it's worth every rave I can give but that price is getting to be a little too steep. read more

Inedible and plastic inside the food :( Chana Saag nirvana bhindi naan Food quality has gone down the drain. The channa saag had barely any channa in it and the bhindi was uncooked to the point it was inedible and had to be tossed. Also found plastic inside the naan. The chef is careless and management is absent. This place needs to be shut down and the health department needs to audit the cooking practices here. Best Indian food in the area. It is awesome to eat out and deliver, which is pretty rare for most places. The service is surprisingly fast if you eat in, and the ambiance is charming. The lights are usually dim, so if you are sensitive to that, then this place would be nice to go to. As a vegetarian, they have a plethora of options for me. My all time favorite would be the malai kofta, which is basically just huge potato balls drenched in this amazing creamy tomato sauce. Their peshwari naan (sweet coconut) is also to die for. And of course, you can never go wrong with a good tikka masala. It is a family favorite! I would absolutely recommend. P.S--The mango lassi's are a real treat! read more

I had the Chicken Biryani and Garlic Naan. The flavor of the Biryani didn't taste as good as other Indian restaurant's that I've tried in the area, plus, the Chicken was a little bit dry. There wasn't a lot of Chicken in my entree and felt like it was very stingy. The Garlic Naan has good flavor but it was very thin and flaky. The raita that comes with my dish was very watery and taste different. The mango lassi was good. The service was decent and parking is limited. Spice level at 6 out of 7 was right on point, but the butter chicken was clearly tikka masala sauce (red, tomato, tangy) and not actual butter chicken. The server even slightly berated us for complaining we waited 80 minutes for food and on top of that, the table that came in 10 minutes after us got their bread and food before us....we had the same number of people... If you go here, make sure if you need anything to ask the younger waitress. The food is excellent all around. I got samosa to start off, very big and very delicious. The tandoori chicken came on a skillet and the sizzling, mmmmm mmmm. I also got the lamb saag chicken tikimasala, and goat curry. The medium spice has a good amount of kick... At least to me... This has to be the worst experience I have had thus far when eating Indian food. The food was not edible and it is enough to give you a heart attack because it is too salty. It has obviously been sitting up for hours and I cannot even eat it. I ordered the Chili Chicken, Gobi Manchurian and Vegetable Jalfrezi. The chicken and cauliflower were rock hard. I literally can't eat it because it is scraping the roof of my mouth. The pictures look enticing and the reviews were good so I purchased this instead of my "go-to" chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. I cannot explain the level of pistivity that I have because I should have gotten the damn salad at California Pizza Kitchen instead like I needed to do in the first place. I am so disappointed in myself for not sticking to the light and less expensive choice and I am even more disgusted with my experience. Great lunch buffet on Saturday. Wasn't crowded, seated right away for two. Unsure of what the lunch buffet hours are. The table, utensils, and water glasses were clean. Lunch buffet was about $12-13 for two people. The variety was great. Lots of vegetarian options and chicken options. They had lamb curry too! But not a huge fan of lamb myself. Their naan was SO incredibly soft and fresh. And the dessert options were great! I've been to a few Indian buffets and I've never had all three amazing dessert options: Mango Pudding, Rice Pudding and Carrot Pudding. Salad option was available. Chai was also available. The restaurant was quiet and had respectable waiter service. He cleared our plates on time. Decor was clean as well. Will most likely return. We came here for dinner based on yelp reviews and hankering for Indian food. So glad we did. The place has easy parking in front and inside is spacious. Servers were so nice, attentive and gave great recommendations. Food wise the appetizers try the Gobi 66. It's fried cauliflower mixed in 65 spices. It was so crunchy and flavorful. This is off menu but they will make it if you ask. My husband learned this dish from a friend. Samosas was just ok. Lamb Roganjosh was fantastic. Lots of lean meat tangy and savory sauce. The palak chicken was also great. Curries came with rice and it refills were free. Overall we had a great time we will bring some wine as it's BYOB next time we return. This review is about the Lafayette Hill location, but I'm writing it here because I can't seem to find the Yelp page for that location anymore. Anyhow, I'd read good things on Yelp about Nirvana, and had seen it in passing now and then. Based on the raving reviews and the coupons they sent to our house, we decided to try the restaurant out twice this week. Earlier in the week, we ordered some food for takeout. It didn't take long for them to get our food ready, and it all tasted great! We got some chicken dishes and the lamb chops, and I have to say that those lamb chops were tender and delicious! Today, we decided to go there for the lunch buffet, and that was just as impressive! They had a very nice selection out for us to choose from, including veggie, meat, and desserts. There was also masala chai, which was very welcome in the cold weather. In addition to the food being good, the gentleman working there was very friendly and thoughtful. While browsing around, my wife asked him if the yogurts had any flour in them, to which he answered no. Later on, when she wanted to get some syrup from the galub jamun to add to the chai, he approached her to tell her that there is flour in that dish. I thought that was an example of great service!
