Visited on a fluke because Malooga didn't have any table seats available for dinner and we pivoted to here. And what a pivot it was! Service was pretty brief, but helpful, and we were able to order and get our food fairly quickly! The order for four: - Chicken tikka masala-- the benchmark. - Lamb vindaloo-- the craving. - Vegetable korma-- veggies to balance things out. - Cheese and peshawari naan. - Two mango lassis. Flavors are on-point here! Portions seemed a bit small, but we were definitely completely stuffed by the time we were through, and we cleaned off everything, including the leftover sauce on the bottoms of our bowls with our naan. Peshawari naan was a pleasant surprise! Good sweet and slightly nutty flavor complemented a lot of the dishes that we got. Meat is tender and they are pretty generous with the quantities of meat compared to other Indian places I've visited in the past. Mango lassis were also decent-- nothing to wow about, but solid, and a good way to finish off the meal after all the flavor bombing from the other dishes. Ambience is simple and there's not a lot of room for large groups here. Indoor and outdoor is available, but just expect a simple homey environment and nothing too fancy!

Hands down, this is one of the two best Indian restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at! (the other being the Michelin-starred Veeraswamy in London) The dishes were the timeless classics you expect, but each came with its own thoughtful twist that made them feel completely new. The sauces that accompanied our butter chicken, chicken korma, and samosas were layered, complex, and unlike anything I've had before. The staff expertly guided us on spice levels, and the service throughout the meal was excellent. From the outside the restaurant may seem unassuming, but don't let that fool you. This place is more than worth the visit, and I'll be returning very soon.

Here again to report that it is still the best Indian we've ever had and happily continue to have! Recent pictures include the Srinigar Special Biryani, Butter Chicken, and Lamb Korma which are all 10/10s. The service was wonderful and the food came out so quickly!

We were able to snag a rare table because we were a large patron party .... and live is better! Fine service and great Indian dishes including some stuffed naan varieties we'd never tried. The most tender tandoori chicken; perfectly done salmon; the best saag. When they say "mild" they really mean it.

Loved this place! The prices were great, the food came out fast, and the appetizers were amazing. I especially loved the gobi manchurian and samosa chaat. Definitely worth the drive, I'll be back for sure!

Friday night I met Meredith R. and Theron for a Yelp doubleheader - Indian dinner at Srinagar and dessert at Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream as part of an Elite Event. They are right around the corner from each other, so park once, eat twice! Srinagar is a very small house with about ten tables packed into the petit dining room. Reservations recommended as it fills up fast. Service is friendly and responsive, and the cuisine is solid if not spectacular. We ordered for ourselves and agreed to sample everything on the table. I appreciated the red wine my new friends brought with them. I ordered vegetarian oriented Jeera Aloo (lightly spiced roast potatoes), Bhindi Masala (Okra), and Garlic Naan. Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower), Chicken Tikka and a spicy Lamb Masala went to the other side of the table. I found everything quite good, but nothing exceptional. My Jeera Aloo was a bit plain on the buds, and more a roasted potato my Polish grandmother would serve. The Bhindi was tasty and texturous with the flavor of okra predominating. Liked it. The naan seemed garlic free. Disappointing. My friends' Gobi was very nice with beautiful red amber coat and taste of the mountains. Both the chicken and lamb were pleasant traditional preparations with well established tandoori grill and mild Indian spiced sauces. Good choices. Our conversation was the main thing I came for, and as a result I focused more on friends than food. Still I remained sufficiently alert to note what we were eating. It was all well worth my first visit to Narberth, the lovely borough completely surrounded by Lower Merion. Jeni's was a three minute walk on the now darkened rainy streets.

We have been on the hunt for the best Indian food around and we may have found it. We came here on a Wednesday around 5:30 and folks were coming in for pickup but there was plenty of seating for dine in despite being a fairly small quiet place. The host was extremely friendly and helpful for us as we attempted to dine with our 11 month old and dog in the outdoor seating area. We started with the Samosa chaat and Papri chaat and when they arrived we realized we had ordered far too much food. Both were delicious. The Samosa was served hot and the papri was served cold and both were delicious. You probably only need to order one or the other. Our Sag paneer was divine and got two thumbs up from baby as well. The Garlic naan complimented it perfectly. We wound up taking a ton of food home and I wish we had brought some of our own containers. This is the spot to get Indian food. We've tried the others and this is it!

Fast delivery, generous portions, best butter chicken i've ever consumed. Everything else i ordered was also top tier. The lamb is spicy but perfect, and they gave me so much rice and naan. I will only be coming here from this moment on whenever I am craving Indian food.

We were seated in the secondary room which quickly filled, and was just as loud. Conversation was difficult. Terrible acoustics. Pescatore is popular. I get it. Management wants to accommodate as many people as possible. As such, seating is tight and tables-for-two are postage sized. I can't deny that our meals were good. You can get vegetables as a side rather than mashed potatoes, but there's an upcharge. (I'm guessing they go with potatoes because they can make a batch and quickly ladle it out. Spaghetti -- my preference -- would likely have to be made-to-order. And as I said, the place is busy.) My husband and I shared a house salad which we topped with "fritto misto" - calamari, shrimp and peppers. Very good! He ordered Veal Saltimbocca and I, Chicken Romano. Both recommended, both with portions big enough for another meal. The staff is solicitous and friendly. Everything came out on a timely basis. We like what we ate. We appreciate BYOB. But that noise! I'll give 'em another try on a weeknight. But if it's no better -- arrivederci, Pescatore!

The good: Usually a good variety of sizes so you can choose what fits your budget. This is important because 1) I don't always have JUMBO crab money lol and 2) there are some places in town that only offer a pan of crabs in one size at one price. He also lets you order by the half dozen. Again, important because it's your choice. Seasoning is good and cooked well. I don't think I've ever gotten a mushy crab from him. I can't say the same of some others. Constructive criticism: After dealing with BSC for many years until they closed down, I was accustomed to a certain quality and presentation for sautéed crabs. If I'm paying extra to have them cleaned I don't expect the apron attached and damn near all the gills still in tact. Please take all of that off otherwise all you've done is pop the shell. The crabs were thrown in the container willy nilly and I found that the sheet of paper on the bottom absorbed some of the butter and tore up as I was eating but again, they were a good size, cooked well, and tasted good. Still a fan.

So we drove to Saffron Kitchen, thinking our chances were better. I like the ambience of Saffron. While my favorite Indian restaurant is a hole-in-the wall a few miles away, I was happy to be here. A waiter handed us menus that didn't include the prix-fixe dinner we came in for. "We have October specials. That's it," he said. "Nope, please check with the manager," I responded. And I was right. (Anyone coming in through October 25th might request the Restaurant Week menu, which may -- or may not -- be of interest.) The prix-fixe is $30 per person. Dinner was great, with leftovers enough for another meal. The appetizer was my favorite part. We each got a plate with a succulent chicken kabob and what's called 'aloo tikki.' (Was it potato? It was delicious.) There's a choice of four entrees, two being vegetarian. I chose chicken bhuna cooked with onions, green peppers, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic in a light curry. My husband ordered chicken tikka masala in a creamy, spicy tomato sauce. I thought his was better than mine. The plates came with basmati rice and a choice of either butter or garlic naan. You're given badami kheer, an Indian spin on rice pudding, for dessert. It's very good. I noticed there's a small lot to the side of the building, but nonetheless street parking is readily available. I love a good samosa and these didn't disappoint. I typically keep my foods from mixing but the gentle sweetness from the butter chicken with the spice from the gobhi aloo was so good together. I found the other location I ate at before had toned down the spice too much but the flavors here were spot on. I appreciate the large portion of rice that came with the dishes so we didn't have to pay attention to portions and didn't have to ask for more. Service was a bit slow bit our server was really nice. It was late when we got to the restaurant and he told us no need to rush, to take our time. A huge plus is that it is a BYOB. For sure I'll go back.
