New to the area and first time getting a mani in the area. Well, I have found my new spot!! From the moment you walk in, the place is so cute and calming. The atmosphere is so inviting and relaxing. Once you sit down, you are served a glass of crisp water infused with fresh fruits which is DIVINE!! A warm neck wrap scented with calming lavender is placed around your neck before getting started. If you have gels, they are soaked off and then gently buffed if there is any polish still stuck to your nails which is my preferred method for having mine removed. (I HATE when places scrape the polish off!!) Anyway, I saw somewhere that this place is considered "pricey." At $40 for a gel manicure and all of the small extras and the ambiance I found it extremely reasonable (I think I normally pay around $35). So happy to have found this gem. It's located in a run down shopping plaza but don't let that keep you out. I was able to schedule my appointment on line and got a quick response from the owner. You must wear a mask during your visit and the aestheticians are wearing them as well. They have plenty of polish colors to chose from. The stations are all cleaned and well maintained. I went with the classic pedicure and it was just was I needed. They had some fresh beverages and a coffee bar as well. Most important both ladies working today were so nice. Price: $48 for 3 new acrylic tips & gel Quality: 2/5 she did not clean my cuticles prior to applying polish, only two THIN coats of color were applied to my nails, resulting in an uneven look with some spots looking transparent. furthermore there was poor coverage at the edges of my nails and residue left on the surrounding skin. Cleanliness: 1/5, the persons hands were dirty when they proceeded to rub oil & lotion all over my arms. also the hot towel at the end was dirty and had residue on it Timeliness: 3/5, the entire process took ~90 minutes from beginning to end which in my opinion was too much time for the quality of the product. I have been going to Nirvana for years! It's in the Loehmans plaza and I've seen businesses come and go but this spa is still there. That has to mean something. I took a star off because sometimes it's hard to get an appointment and you can't just walk in and expect to be seated. Atmosphere: The owner, Mimi, has tastefully decorated the spa and it is an oasis in CNJ! You actually feel very relaxed inside and they don't have any TVs or music blaring, just easy to listen spa music and a water fountain for some background sound. All the ladies that work here are very sweet and speak softly and kindly. And they always ask about how you are doing which is just great customer service. Attention to detail: this is its own category because Mimi has provided so much detail here - from complementary beverages, snacks, to the purse holder while you get a manicure it's a very thoughtful spa. Services: I've actually only gotten manis and pedis here (including the spa pedi) but there are many many offerings. During the summer months I find the spa pedicure to be super relaxing and while it is expensive the whole experience is what you pay for - the quiet / the scents/ the hydration. It is a bit pricey for me so I only get this on occasion. The manicures are also a few dollars more expensive but they do a good job. I only get regular manucures but they leave me feeling neat tidy and pretty. I've also gotten the mini manicure when I was in a rush and was able to get my nails done for an event in under 30 minutes. Parking: there's tons of parking. No issues with parking. Pricing: compared to other spas in the area the pricing is fair. However for a basic mani and pedi it's still higher than other nail salons. That being said you do get more relaxation than other spas and I enjoy the ambiance more. Customer service: they recently switched to a new system so you can even book manicures online. The prices are slightly higher then some competitors in the area. The pedicure was fast (only 20 min), very short leg massage. Reflexology lasted another 20 min for a total of 40 min. I called and made an appointment after talking to Reeta explaining that I was recovering from toe surgery and needed a pedicure from someone who understood the sensitivity of the situation a.k.a. my pinky toes. Upon my arrival, she greeted me at the door and proceeded to give me an excellent pedicure, taking great care with my injured toes. I have been going to Nirvana for over a decade and every time I go there is such a treat. I went there for a spa pedi last week then for a signature facial this week. The place is very clean and make you feel relaxed and special. Even the water they give is not just plain glass of water with cucumer and orange slices. Christie directed me to the nail polish center and I picked out a color. They offered me complimentary drinks( I declined) and a neck wrap(which I accepted). I decided to pamper myself before my sister's wedding. I was browsing for a nice nail place to go to and stumbled upon Nirvana via Yelp. I booked my appointment for a Classic Manicure and Pedicure through their website and quickly received an email confirmation within a few hours of making the request. Nirvana is located in the same shopping plaza and Amazing Savings and Shoppers World. The strip mall really could be freshened up; it looks so run down. However, Nirvana is an oasis. Upon entering, it feels as though you have left the strip mall and arrived at a lovely spa! There is a small seating area at the front and they have some spa products for sale. The middle section of the salon is the manicure station, followed by the pedicure chairs. Towards the back, are small rooms for massages, facial treatments, and waxing. Christy took care of me that day. I sat down in the pedicure chair, sipping on a water with cucumber and lemon, while she pampered my feet. The massage chair also pampered me as well. It is a serious chair! After my pedicure it was manicure time. I went with my own dusty mauve nail varnish and picked a sparkly glitter polish for my statement nail. The manicure was just as relaxing and I enjoyed chatting with Christy. This was one of my favorite nail spa experiences. I am so thankful to find great places like this. Booking an appointment was easy enough. You can do it online and you get a text confirmation which is quick and easy. I love that part. I booked myself a mini manicure and a peppermint spa pedicure. The pedicure was to die for. I felt so pampered every minute. I also advise wearing a dress or shorts if you're going for the spa pedicure. I made the mistake of wearing skinny jeans. The lady who I believe is the owner saw me and offered a robe for me to change into though because the spa pedicure involves a wrap and exfoliant that goes up to your knee which I didn't realize when I booked it. It all worked out though. The complimentary drinks are fancy and nice too. Loved the pedicure! Then it went a little downhill. My manicure was horrible. Cuticles were untouched, nails were uneven and the polish that was applied looked worst than me doing it myself. I wish I had taken a picture because the polish started way below the cuticles and it looked like my nails had already grown out, which is ridiculous. I had booked this appointment before leaving for a vacation trip, but it looked so atrocious that I had take off all the nail polish and quickly do my own nails before leaving for the airport. Not worth the money at all. The only thing I liked about my experience here was the pedicure, but there are plenty of other places that can provide both a great pedicure and manicure for less so I really don't think I'll be going back. read more

I called earlier in the day to make an appointment for a classic pedicure, and they were prompt in getting me in today. I could tell from the friendly woman who told me over the phone that "the pedicure would absolutely be worth it" that I was going to be very satisfied. For many people saying the salon is in a sketchy area-it's not. It's a strip mall with about 4 or less stores open. More creepy than anything else, but Nirvana Nails does not apply to that assumption. I'm actually writing this review from the pedicure chair! I'm so pleased and happy with the service it's unreal. They were more than happy to stay after hours to finish up some clients and with the most positive attitudes as well. I first tried Nirvana through a Living Social deal (for a spa pedicure), and I enjoyed the experience. When another Living Social deal popped up, I bought it and was happy to go back. However, when I called to make my appointment, I was told that the "fine print" on the deal said that it applied to new clients only. They would "honor" my voucher, but I would have to pay the difference (i.e., pay full price for the spa pedicure). I checked with Living Social to see if I was within the time window for a refund, and I was not. So - I really didn't have a choice unless I wanted to lose $30. I wasn't going to argue about the "fine print" - fine, they got me. But I told them that I wanted to add a manicure to my appointment (because I was getting a mani/pedi for a wedding). Since I was adding a service, I asked if I could apply the value of my voucher to a regular mani/pedi, so that I was paying less out of pocket that I hadn't anticipated spending (I would never get a pricey "spa" pedicure if I were paying full price). They said no - I had to get the spa pedicure. I was already adding a service to my appointment - how much money were they really going to lose? And, I would have kept going back, but now I will not be returning. Ultimately - the nail services were fine, but they have terrible customer service. read more

It disappoints me to have to leave a bad review on this business but I've already given them a second chance when the first time my nails were messed up. I've been coming here for several months but now with a 2nd bad experience, I won't be coming back. Nirvana has a relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff, which is what lured me in. The prices are higher than your average nail salon and I can only say my nails have come out mediocre out of all the times I've been here. Except the first time when Ruby did my nails, she did a phenomenal job which made me feel confident about making this my new nail place. This is the first nail salon I've been to that have SNS. It' a relatively new powder system that most nail salons don't carry. It has minerals in it to strengthen the nail unlike traditional powder. And also uses no UV and painful like gel is! I can tell a difference in the quality of my real nails after having this done for several months. The best time I had a full set of SNS was by Ruby, who no longer works at Nirvana. Mimi the owner is relatively good but I still noticed flaws after arriving home. And I often felt too bad driving back to complain, as she's such a kind hearted lady. I also don't like that on one occasion Mimi had Tahira prep my nails, before Mimi worked on mine, only for her to give me back to Tahira to finish them. Once Mimi realized Tahira wasn't applying the final coat (which you think isn't difficult), she took me back over to finish up. Very odd. Never seen that at a nail place before. After that little mishap, my first major bad experience was in December. Mimi did gel color over my SNS and I had Christine do my nail polish change (which by the way is 15$, might as well have just paid 10$ more for an hour long pedicure). Not only did a few of my nails have the gel color chip and crack after TWO days but I was not given any option to have my toe nails under a dryer given a toe spacer to separate each toe, and was sent out the door without them fully dry. Every other nail salon I've ever been to does the pedicure before the manicure OR puts you under a dryer to ensure you don't walk out with wet toes. I emailed Mimi about this and the next time I came in she did my nails pretty nice and gave me a little bit of a discount off my services. My most recent experience was with Tahira since Mimi was on vacation. I was reluctant to try someone new, especially after the first mishap. I think Mimi sensed my disappointment over the phone, and assured me that she is very good and will take care of me. And apparently I had a right to be worried because after she did my nails they are uneven on the tips and completely NOT how I should be sent out of a nail salon after paying 80$. I shouldn't have to ask for my nails to be redone though. Especially for the simplest of things, like smoothing out the nail with the drill properly. And she wouldn't have had time to fix my nails anyway, as Tahira was the only one that week doing nail appointments and had a client right after me. No one else was available to fix them so I didn't bother saying anything about it. Hopefully Mimi gets some experienced staff for her business. Anyways, 2 weeks go by and I can see the gel color fading very fast and my SNS nails below it look disgusting. I don't know what she did but I could tell as she was applying the powder and different coats, that she wasn't very good at it. I told myself it'll all turn out okay in the end, and it didn't. The Pedicures and facials here are the best part. They are extremely relaxing and make you feel pampered with a hot neck wrap, whatever you want to drink, and high end massage chairs. I'm sure if you're an older lady like most of their clients are, you may enjoy their basic manicure and pedicure. Unfortunately I've moved on to another nail salon near me which does a much better job at the SNS. Sorry Nirvana ladies. Wish you the best! read more

I loved this place! Very welcoming and relaxing. My aunt made reservations for my birthday weekend and it really was not a problem waiting for the three of us to get set up in the chairs with the foot-bath. We chose our nail polish colors (a lot of interesting color choices and they carry a lot of the pricier, quality brands). It was my Mom's first pedicure and she loved it! They offer complimentary "Nirvana" water with cucumber and lemon slices while you're having your nails done. They also have MASSAGING chairs with an actual control! They offer coffee or tea with little healthy snacks behind the service desk. The last time I had a pedicure I was maybe twelve or thirteen years old and the place I went to cut my little toe so I was very wary of getting another pedicure but this nail spa was excellent. I wasn't crazy about the girl who did my pedicure because they usually walk you through the process, but she was very quiet. I liked my color so much (CND Vinylux's 'Weekly Polish' in #131 Midnight Swim") that when I went back to get my jacket that I left on the chair I asked if I could keep the bottle because I loved the color and the girl was happy to give it to me.
