Babette's has to be in the running for best bakery in Colorado. The gros de sel bread - a load…read morecovered in herbs and flaky salt, with the most amazing crust and crumb - is heavenly if you love great bread! It's almost never on the menu, so good thing they always have standout regular loves - country bread and a perfect baguette are almost always available (but get there before noon!). They also have spectacular seasonal pastries, delicious foccacia with interesting toppings, a few delightful sandwiches, and standout desserts and sweet treats. It's carby heaven, whether you eat in (inside shared tables or outside picnic-style) or take everything home... and in that case I dare you not to tear into something on your drive. Don't try to come on Mon/Tues as they are closed then, and watch out for the peloton of cyclists on weekend mornings! Even if the line is long when you arrive, it moves quickly and the staff will always help you find something you'll love (or that will wow others when you deliver them a special treat from Babette's).

Food 10/10! Best foccacia I ever had (crumb worthy of Food Network segment or an Iron Chef battle)…read more I wanted one of everything but the stomach has limited capacity. Will be back (and again and again, but shhh! You should go before everyone finds out about it). People 10/10. Real, kind, generous. And with fun tidbits of conversation and humor. Ambiance: excellent for breakfast or brunch with friends, working solitary on your laptop, having a quick sandwich on the rooftop patio, or a work meeting (in-person would be nice because the velvet couches are legit). I really liked the attention to details (such as the hooks for hanging a purse under the countertop). Cool decor and the vibe is like somebody oversized den, but instagram-worthy, you know? Check out the little store; they have cookbooks, cards, adorable kitchen towels and such, preserves and so on!

The employee who assisted me at pickup seemed rushed and not very welcoming, which left me feeling hurried out the door before I had a chance to properly inspect the cake. When I got home, I was disappointed with the decorating quality. The fishing-themed design looked rushed, the writing was uneven, and the overall presentation did not look like what I would expect from a custom cake at this price point. After cutting into the cake, I found it to be dry and it left an unpleasant aftertaste. While the cake appeared to be the correct flavor, the quality and taste did not meet my expectations. I also reached out directly to the bakery in an attempt to resolve the issue before leaving a review. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss my concerns and find a resolution, but my email went unanswered. For $67, I expected a much more polished cake, better quality, and better customer service. Based on my experience, I would not order from this bakery again

They offer natural, organic,…read moreand imported cheeses, cured meats, specialty oils, spices, olives, chocolate, and other unique specialty foods. They also have wonderful French & Italian food items, and kitchen and dining ware. There are children's gifts, beeswax candles, gift wrap, gorgeous jigsaw puzzles, glassware, French table linens, aprons, and much, much more. It is worth the experience to visit this extraordinary shop! The building was formerly the Power & Communications Building, which Cheese Importers took over in 2012. The shop is gorgeous, and the buyers are fantastic, stocking it with so many beautiful items that you will not easily find in other shops or online. The staff is friendly and informative. The prices are very high, and I don't recommend buying items you can find in your local grocery store or gift shop, but if you find interesting, unique, and beautiful items that you love, then it is worth spending the money, in my opinion. This is a great place to find exceptional gifts, especially for someone who likes to entertain. Must take home a fresh French baguette and some caramels! There is a parking lot in the rear of the building.

But the market feel, the variety, the customer service, patio, cute atmosphere, selection, and warm baguettes made it quite the experience. We were impressed and I would drive all the way from Littleton to experience it again. We basically built ourselves a little picnic and sat outside on the patio to enjoy it all. Bring your own plates, utensils if you plan on doing what we did. We made do with the plastic knives and napkins from the bakery, but it would have been better if we came more prepared. Lovely.
