Apparently, once they sold an HVAC unit to you, unless you sign up for their service contract, they don't even honor the manufacturers warranty. Told me I could call the mfg. myself if I wanted the part warrantied. If they came , which would have been about three weeks after I had an issue with the unit I purchased from the four years AGO TO THE TUNE OF OVER $8,000.00, they would charge me for the part that was still under warranty plus the labor. Nobody ever showed up or called- at the end of the day I called them and they had rescheduled the appt for the next day (8am till ? ) without even contacting me ! Most of the technicians are very good. However, one came to our home where our AC drain line was clogged. It required that the technician make certain the line was clear between our attic and crawl space. Unfortunately he did not want to go into the crawl space area. Instead he said that the unit was not installed properly 10 years ago and that's why the unit was backing up. He said we would need 2 people from the installation team to come and I would be charged for them to fix it. I knew he was wrong because it worked for 10 years. He simply emptied the drain pan and said it might work but it backed up a day later. Called again and they sent the same guy who said the same thing. Called a different HVAC company and they fixed the problem in a matter of minutes in the middle of the heat wave. Dropped my contract with NJ Home services as I cannot take the chance of getting the same technician back who is lazy and untrustworthy. So I called today because my upstairs was not getting heat. Was told my service contract was cancelled because of non payment and they couldn't renew it. However, I informed him I had an auto renewal and money was taken from my account in August. This is the worst and most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I'm still not sure if the service technicians are trying to get over or just have a complete lack of knowledge in HVAC. Technician came to my house 3 times and ignored everything I said to him about the issue, finally the last trip he perform work (not covered by the NJR service plan) which was unnecessary and only temporarily made my AC run for just enough time to let him leave before it crapped out again. I ended up giving up with them and called a reputable HVAC who came to my house, diagnosed the issue after listening to what I had to say, and did it all in 45 mins. As for the customer services with NJR, that's even worse than the technicians. I called and put in a complain regarding this issue and was told a supervisor would call me back shortly. Three days later after no phone call back, I called again only to get another person tell me that they see my complaint and they'll put in another message for a supervisor to call me back right away. A week later and still no response. Their service plan might look great on paper but it's a waste of money, time and will just add frustration. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Have had this contract for 2 years. Last night our water heater leaked and flooded the utility room. We called NJR Tuesday morning and were told that they can't come out until Friday. We have hot water heat and I had to turn off the main water line into the house. We have no heat, no water, no toilets and are supposed to wait until Friday. I want to cancel my contract and I want a refund for the past two years because they didn't give me the service I was paying for. They tell me if I cancel the contract then I'll be taken off the "emergency list". What kind of emergency can wait a week? I had a contract with them for 13 years. The first time I needed to use it was on July 3 and it was over 100° and I explained we had an elderly relative living with us. The soonest appointment they could give us was 10 days out and they tried to make us feel better by saying they put us on the emergency list. Needless to say I had to call somebody else to repair it. The emergency list finally came through about six days later. I canceled the contract obviously. When my air-conditioning needed help a few months later they told me that I could sign up for a contract but I couldn't use it for two weeks. And if I wanted a guarantee that they would come out within 24 hours the price of the contract was double. So my options were pay for a contract and they might be able to come within 10 days, or pay double the contract but not be able to use it for two weeks. Horrible. read more

We also "inherited" the contract from the previous homeowners. No one notified us of this contract so we just kept paying our NJNG bill in full even though it was extra high every September. We chalked that up to the August heat. After many years we finally discovered the charge for the contract we had no idea we "inherited." When I tried to cancel I was given the run around. They told me I had to wait for the cancellation department to call me back. This department never called me back, although their records show they left me voicemails. Well my cell phone record shows no such calls were received. On the third phone call to cancel, I was told the contract could be cancelled by the operator I was speaking to. Not happy with the service. Have had AC contract for three years. Have not changed the filter or added Freon once. I just had the out on Monday and the serviceman says I need a unit. I then get a call from their service department that says they can't send anyone out for an estimate until 8/7. Although I called multiple times to try to get an earlier appointment, they wouldn't do it. In the meantime, I got two estimates from other plumbers and a promise to install tomorrow. I called New Jersey resource home services on Wednesday to cancel the service contract since they can't serve seem to help out in the middle of summer season and I am now told I cannot cancel the contract until next year in June. It seems to me that if they can't deliver air-conditioning repairs or replacements during the high season, I can't live up to their side of the contract, I shouldn't have to pay them for no service at all. I don't recommend getting a service contract with them. They did an excellent job and all of our systems are working great. I am very pleased NJR Home Services and I would highly recommend them. We recently had both our water heater and a furnace/HVAC replaced. Our house poses many challenges with the location of our units in a tight space due to the design of our home, and a condensing unit down a steep hill. I was very impressed with their careful planning and installation of the units. The servicemen were courteous and professional, and Dan did a great job explaining the work at the end. Everyone wore a mask, and they cleaned up the areas nicely. They were even able to create more space around the furnace so we could access our washing machine better. I've had the Basic Service Contract for approximately 2 years now and called for service twice. The first incident, last year, was related to my lights flickering in the house. A technician came within hours and determined that it was not in my panel and suggested I call my electrical supplier. JCP&L came and fixed the ground wire attached to my house. Last night, my A/C unit started blowing hot air on what was a 90°evening. I called NJR at 10 PM and a technician was at my door by 9 AM the next morning. NJHR customer service is abysmal. I couldn't get my annual air conditioning service until September 2020, supposedly due to the pandemic. This was after calling several times in July and August and being told that I was on the "stand by list." Only when I insisted upon speaking to a supervisor on 8/25/20 was I given an "all day" appointment for September 8th. (The contractor I had for my primary residence was able to do the servicing in May.) I recently called to schedule annual air conditioning servicing, only to be told by a very rude representative that I had to wait a year for routine service (despite the pandemic being the cause of my inability to get servicing last year) and to call back on 8/23/21. When I asked for a supervisor, the rep put me on hold, got back on and said someone would call me right back. That was on 2/24/2, more than a month ago; to date I haven't been contacted by anyone. What good is getting your air conditioner serviced in September? Also, two years ago, when the tech came to service the furnace, he didn't have the correct replacement filter on the truck so I ended up spending an additional $20 for the correct filter. With the prices they charge, they should show some concern for their customers. I will be cancelling my contracts when they expire. If I could have given no stars, I would have but this wasn't an option. No surprise there. read more

The company may not be aware of it, but they are responsible and need to investigate nevertheless. Was all ready to send an inquiry for the services they offered. And then saw their anti-robot section, whereby one has to type in the text of the image. Stopped dead in my tracks and this will be reported to authorities as well so that it stops, but this must be a start, in case others experience the same. I simply cannot use their services until the firm does something about it !!! The anti-robot service they use looks like a third party named CAPTCHA, who need to be heavily fined, stripped of any and all profits, and put out of business completely. I have never ever seen the security image be so terribly malevolent. It was horrible and they expected me to type it in. Are they actually testing our compliance-ness to enter the horrible phrase so that our submission to NJR goes through? Though i must enter the phrase that CAPTCHA and NJR forced upon me, this review should definitely be approved by Yelp and put out front. In my case, it was an image of a green street sign, that actually looked cut-off because there is no such sign, but resulted in the phrase C O O N H U N T E R. Horrible, and my own morals aside, incredible that CAPTCHA thinks we need NJR's services so badly that we are forced to enter their malicious phrases. Hurray for bi-partisan 'regulation' and 'competition' in this country, simultaneously. It's what works and such firms will get a taste of both. read more

Do not trust the company for service contract. AC died on 5/27/16 and the first appointment available is 6/6/16. Waiting 10 days in hot weather is completely unacceptable. They are trying to force you to go another contractor even though you've paid them for this service. This is not the first time I've tried to get service under the contract and they force you to wait a long time before they come. DO NOT BY THIS CONTRACT IF YOU ARE EXPECTING TIMELY SERVICE!!!!!!
