Although the food came out hot, it was terrible tasting. The fried rice was yellow and full of onions. The bourbon chicken was burned and had no flavor. There was a little pork in the sweet and sour pork. It was crispy and the bowl of sauce was gel. Both soups, egg drop and hot and sour must've come out of a can. Too much cornstarch and food color. No flavor in anything. We won't be back! The lady who took our order didn't smile. Didn't say thank you. They don't have ice or fountain drinks. Or iced tea. Wow-from the awful customer service ( they are understaffed and unavailable) the ridiculous long wait for the food ( online order said 15 minutes ended up 45! ) and the terrible lousy food - this is a never again place. No 1 Chinese has my whole heart. Never once has it failed me. I crave this place in my dreams. The egg drop soup is my go to and it tastes immaculate every single time. I feast on it for days. I've tried making egg drop soup at home and nothing measures up to this one. I would bathe my self in the eggy goodness of this soup. Maybe not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but that's more of a comment on this genre in the entire Nashville metro area than this restaurant. Stopped in around 8 on Saturday evening and ordered to go. The hardest thing to do when you have moved from one place to the other is find your go to comfort food spot. I've tried quite a few places and none have stuck. I always judge food on overall taste and coming out how I've ordered it. I placed an order for the Happy Family and asked for it spicy as I usually do along with two shrimp egg rolls. The happy family was a generous portion for the price and came out actually spicy as I asked. Many times I've asked for this only to be underwhelmed. The egg rolls where crisp and were good as well. We called the restaurant to let them know & they said they were mushy bethel prepare them with cornstarch (which didn't make sense to us). First, let me say that I've been to China and have several close Chinese friends- I've had the real deal many times. Nothing in America, with the exception to a few restaurants in NYC and Chicago, come close to real "Chinese" food. That being said, this is the best in the Gallatin-Hendersonville area! This cracker box of a restaurant does a nice job putting together your expected Americanized Chinese food. The hot and sour soup is always excellent and the hot and spicy dishes are generally just that. My favorite is the broccoli and hot sauce while my son prefers the General Tso's chicken. Most of the business seems to be carryout but service is always friendly and they make the dining in experience feel like a more upscale experience than plastic cutlery and paper plates would lead you to expect. This is always a favorite on the days when I forget to pack a lunch and portion sizes are large enough for two meals from each order. After checking reviews on Yelp, we went with this lil place only 2 mi from home. We made a great choice! I had beef lo mein and hubby had shrimp lo mein. They are both more flavorful than our usual place, but slightly pricier. I knocked off a star because they don't offer spring rolls and the priciness.
