The food is good, the sizes are usually good for two meals. It's really the only game in town so when you want chinese this is where you order from. Unless you want to drive? The General Tso is a go-to dish for my family along with assorted apps and eggrolls. The Egg Drop soup is a little thin but when you have a cold it's perfect. Me and four sons can spend $100 no problem. If they would start taking online orders again AND deliver they will survive all the little places popping up around town with $1 menus. The menu clearly states coconut chicken - chicken, beef, and shrimp with mixed vegetables for $11.75. Sounds perfect to me even if the name sounds a little odd, considering everything that they're going to put in it. I placed my order, and they told me it would take 10 minutes. It was spot on 10 minutes, and I was out the door with my order. The food was hot. I had to gather my condiments as none were placed in the bag. However, if I understand correctly, that's how things go after covid. The spring rolls were flavourful but had more roll than vegetables. My coconut chicken came in 3 containers, apparently the coconut sauce, the white rice, and the fried food. I was expecting that I should see vegetables in my container somewhere in to my dismay there were none. I went back in and asked about the vegetables. The response was, " Oh, the menu is wrong. We don't do that. It is just the chicken." To which I responded, "I believe you should update your menu to reflect the items people are purchasing, is your description in the menu is incorrect." Unfortunately, this may have fallen on deaf ears from the expression on her face. Moral of the story: Confirm everything you're reading is accurate when placing your order and before leaving the restaurant. I visit Lowell once a month for business. I always stop at this restaurant for mixed vegetables with vegetable fried rice. Everything is super fresh and the veggies are legit. As a vegetarian it is a wonderful surprise to find such a wonderful option while traveling. Thank you! read more

Great Chinese food. Have lived many places and always try to find the best Chinese around. So glad that I didn't have to look far.

Ordered for the first time today and won't be back. It's priced the same as the Cedar Lake Chinese restaurant but a much worse quality. The crab Rangoon was barely filled, I had very little meat in my shrimp fried rice, and there was definitely some lack of flavor in all dishes. They had a cool fish tank in the lobby, but that's about all that was going for them. read more

All I can say is bad, bad, bad. I have never had deep fried dark meat chicken. The sauce had a burnt taste, wanton soup was way over salty. The worst egg rolls (tried both) I ever bit into. I highly recommend passing on this place - we will NEVER give this place a second try as we couldn't eat it the first time - $30 of pure garbage! read more

My daughter and I love Number One in Lowell, IN. The food is delicious and a good value, especially when comparing their prices to fast food burgers and fries. The quality is much higher. Also, I don't think that it's expensive at all, especially when considering the portion sizes. We always have leftovers. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone - even finicky kids. My daughter likes the breaded chicken without the sauce. On the downside, their crab meat and scallops are not genuine. I love seafood, and I would be willing to pay a little more for the real thing. It's still one of my favorite restaurants in Lowell, and they will continue to receive my business. read more

We preferred take out here before. The food was ok. We decided to go in to eat and discovered that this place is absolutely disgusting. The tables, the floors, and from what we could see in the kitchen, all was just filthy. I even saw a tray of dumplings sitting on top of a garbage can by the back door, uncovered. This was our second time ordering as it is the only Chinese place in Lowell and the food was decent. The woman who answers the phone is always rude. This particular time we ordered general tsao's chicken, beef and broccoli, and shrimp fried rice. The lady repeated the order back to me and it was correct. It is a little pricey but not bad. When we got home we had the chicken, shrimp fried rice (the vein was still in ALL of the shrimp) and for some reason beef fried rice instead of beef and broccoli. No big deal, I figured I would call and get it corrected. No. The lady proceeded to tell me that I definitely said beef fried rice.. and that I could bring her the beef fried rice back and pay an up charge for the beef and broccoli. I was trying to be nice and explained I've never ordered beef fried rice and that I didn't think it was fair to be charged again for her mistake after she repeated the order correctly. She continued to argue with me and kept saying this is not my mistake, it's your mistake... so I politely said that we wouldn't be back. Then she offered to fix the order but repeated it was not her mistake. (I don't know if she was afraid of getting in trouble with her boss or what) I didn't bother switching the order.. but because of her I will never order there again. I visited this establishment for the first time on 12/01/13. After placing my order, I asked if the restroom was open because it was blocked by boxes and a filthy folding chair. As I tip-toed through the mess, I was sickened to see 2 dead cockroaches on the floor. When I exited the bathroom, the roaches were gone. They obviously knew they were there or they would not have swept them away. As I sat down, I saw another dead roach under a potted plant that sits on the floor. BEWARE!!!! read more

I've only had the lo mein, but I've had it a few times now. Flavor is great, when you add spice is tends to be a bit too spicy. My only complaint is that when I asked to substitute the veggies, I was actually charged for each veggie I added instead of just swapping the veggies and just charging for the extras. read more

Well, that was horrible. Soggy vegetables, no actual chicken in my Szechuan chicken, just fatty pieces of gristle. The rice was old and dry and to top it off the container was half the size of other lunch specials in the area. And it's wasn't even full!!! I will never eat there again. read more
