My wife & I visited Spice Thai Cuisine for the 1st time yesterday (7/12/202). Found it on Yelp, good rating, but didn't expect much. We were pleasantly surprised. Great food. The flavors were wonderful. The Thaii stir fry mixrd vegetables with chicken was delicious, savory & crisp veggies. The Thai fried rice also excellent, parapartion & taste was great. Beware #3 spiciness is pretty warm! We also enjoyed a couple of appetizers, Crab Rang Goon & Veggie Rolls both very flaky & quit tasty, severed with a sweet sauce & a light soy base sauce. Great choices. Then to our surprise they have wine & beer, which I missed, but was a real plus for our dinning experience. The only downside is the limited menu. But, if you want a real authentic Thai meal go see Bee @ Spice Thai Cuisine. We will definitely go back,, it's one of the best Asian restaurants in the area. You gotta get past the looks of the parking lot & surroundings. An A+ !!! read more

Thai time for a good Asian spot in this area. My sisters and I had a great time with curry, gyoza, Thai tea, and noticed clean, inviting, and easy to enjoy everything. Stopped here as a halfway meeting point to pick something up from a family member and this place was amazing!! I wish that it was near me in Chicago!! I got the cucumber salad and the orange chicken which were delicious. If you like a sweet drink I'd definitely recommend the Thai iced tea. The outside honestly doesn't look like too much, but the food is amazing and the restaurant is cute and clean. The servers are very friendly and there's enough parking in the lot. I'm going to start by saying that there is no reason that this place should ever be empty. This is the best Thai restaurant in Northwest Indiana. If you're near Merrillville, Schererville, Highland, Munster, Crown Point, Hammond, Gary, East Chicago...you get the picture...this place should be on your radar. It's a cozy little spot. Service is great. I've been twice and the same guy waited on me both times. The menu isn't huge, but they have most of the basics in terms of fried rice, stir fries, curries, soups. Dinner prices are very fair. I would estimate that the average price for an entree is between $15-$17. They offer a fairly wide range of drink options from teas and soft drinks to wines and beers. Everything I had was DELICIOUS!!! If you like Thai food this is your spot! They are open for two hours during the lunch rush (12:00 - 2:00pm) and from 5:00-8:00pm for dinner. read more

This was amazing!! I ordered stir fry and it was very good, and then I asked for a great dessert. They recommended mango sticky rice. Ohhh it is sweet, but not too sweet. Excellent Thai food. Be prepared to wait for your food. Many times the owner is the hostess, waitress, and cook by herself. She still does a great job. That is the reason for the reasonable prices. Service is better when her brother is able to help by waiting and bussing the tables. She will cook to the spice level you want. My son likes the Thai spice level. Way too hot for me. I order the medium spice level that is still very spicy. The clear tom yum soup is very good. My favorite dishes are the basil chicken, drunken noodles, and the mango with sticky rice. If they happen to be closed, there is a Red Lobster across the street from them. read more

We were passing through the area and thrilled to see Thai food (different than your typical road trip food)! We called in our order ahead, and the person taking our order was very knowledgeable and helpful, recommending spice levels and options. They are plenty of gluten free options as well! We had the paht thai with chicken and the broccoli stir fry with chicken, which came with rice. The rice was nice and fluffy! I really enjoyed the paht Thai, and the stir fry was also great. My husband enjoyed his extra spicy side. Thai iced tea was also great! The service was super friendly, and we had a great conversation! Good food at a reasonable price but the restaurant seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. They use table linens and have traditional seated dining, but the decor is odd with superhero posters and painted osb walls. We dined in on a Friday night and there seemed to be two staff, one front of house one in the kitchen. It got very busy though and they kept welcoming more guests so our service took nearly an hour. Probably won't return but they seem independently owned so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

For a starter we got the tofu appetizer and we ate it up so fast i couldn't even get a picture so light and yummy. After that we had two different kinds of curry the Panang and massamun both were absolutely delicious so much flavor! I was excited to see a Thai food restaurant in Merrillville, but it was disappointing. Their pad Thai did not taste authentic. It was almost like they boiled the noodles, and added some store bought sauce on it. The shrimp asparagus was good. But the steamed rice looked like it was day old rice. When you sell Jasmine rice, I'm hoping for a pretty white rice. This one looked dried out. They were nice, parking was great, but they didn't even add utensils or napkins to our takeout order. This is a nice quaint restaurant. The service personnel was very friendly and thoughtful. I ordered my to go inside and waited at the little counter up front. The waiter quickly sat customers that came in after me and took my order. He gave me a glass of water while I waited. To my surprise the pot stickers were delicious! The crispiest I had ever had light and nicely filled with a chicken stuffing. The Druken Noodles was a total disappointment! I ordered the beef noodles and I must say, "Where's the beef?!" I may have found a teaspoon of beef mixed in with my noodles that were unusually sticky. I also ordered the Thai Iced Tea and it was yummy. If I'm in the area I would go in for the pot stickers and tea. But I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Simply amazing! Unexpectedly wonderful ambience. Delightful service. And the food is excellent! Orange chicken was definitely the "best in town"! The customized heat to your liking, perfect dish! Sauce was some of best my family has ever had. My Phad Woon Sen had delicious glass noodles and when I declined to add protein the owner offered to add extra vegetables which made it even better. I stopped in on a whim, and glad I did. The restaurant is cost, clean, and well appointed. They claim to have the best Orange Chicken around. It was certainly the best Orange Chicken I've ever had. The chicken pieces were thin, bite sized, and lightly deep fried. The rice was exceptional. The orange sauce was a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy, but neither was overly so. The menu has a great variety of fried rice, curry, stir-fry, and noodles with your choice of proteins including (and I'm missing a few): chicken, tofu, and shrimp. I had the Gui Chai chive dumpling appetizer, which was splendid. Don't miss the chance to try out this gem. read more

I liked it but my most recent visit had me realize the quality of the food declined, prices increased to an unreasonable level compared to the value of what I was getting and compared to the other much nicer and more expensive Thai place in town, and the owner/manager's attitude remained somewhat off-putting. Small, clean spot. The food was colorful and tasty. The staff was friendly. A sign states that reservations are required but we were able to be seated. They appeared to keep busy with takeout. Solid Thai restaurant right off the highway in Merrillville. spice offers up all of the staples you would expect in an American Thai restaurant including my favorite - red curry. Found myself in the area for work and wanted something fresh, gave this spot a try. Ordered Pad Thai and egg rolls, basic stuff just to see how they compare (I hit a lot of Thai places). Unequivocally the worst Pad Thai I have ever eaten. Steamed glass noodles without a hint of color, clearly pre frozen veggies just warmed up, and seasoning wise it was like some tamarind extract and zero fish sauce... it could have been a microwave dinner, doubt it ever hit a wok. No green onion, bean sprouts, lime or peanuts. Egg rolls were what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet style joint.
