Definitely a cool setup! I went around lunchtime and there was no wait at all to order. I decided on the fried pork chop, which I didn't realize was a made-to-order meal. I expected a little bit of a wait because of that, but I was honestly shocked when it took about 25 minutes to get my food. My friend had already finished her smothered chicken by the time mine came out Thankfully, her chicken was VERY good because I definitely stole a few bites while I waited! As far as my meal, I think next time I'd order something that's already cooked and ready to go and probably switch up my sides. The mac and cheese and yams weren't quite as good as I was hoping for, and the cornbread muffins were pretty dry and probably my least favorite part of the meal. Now the sweet tea?? SWWWWWWWEEEEET! They definitely understood the assignment on the Southern sweet tea! Overall, I'd give Nana Morrison's another try. There were enough things on the menu that looked good, and after tasting my friend's smothered chicken, I know there are definitely some winners. Next time I'm skipping the made-to-order wait and trying a different combination of sides!

While the location is great, the business doesn't stand out well enough to attract those that may not be looking for it. I parked into the back and entered the back door. While they sell soul food, the vibes feel super Jamaican. Black paint with green and yellow accents. Fairly large and very clean dining area. The cashier didn't really greet me when I walked up. She wasn't rude, but she wasn't friendly or welcoming. She did complement my shirt. Her non-verbal cues made me feel rushed. I had to ask her if they were sold out of anything. That information was not offered. I also had to ask her the price. I ended up ordering the lamb chops plate that came with rice, and two side. I opted for the collards and mac n cheese. It took maybe 5-8 minutes for my plate to come out. 3 other people came in, ordered and left before I did. I think it was because theybhad to grill the lamb chops. Visually the food looked delicious. Very generous serving of everything. However, the collards were the most disappointing collards I've ever had. They didn't taste bad. They just weren't seasoned AT ALL!! they just tasted like a collard with pepper flakes. The rice was just plain and Not seasoned. The mac n cheese was pretty good. They need to season the pasta a bit more and use a more flavorful cheese. The star was the lamb chops. They were a good size, seasoned extremely well, tender, and grilled to perfection! On top of that they gave me 4. They're They're the reason I'm giving 4 stars. I washed all of that down with a slice of their pineapple cake. It tasted like box cake with canned crushed pineapple on top. But it was delicious. I'd go back just for the lamb chops and cake. At $40 though, i won't go back too often. I hope the other sides are much better though!!

On my first visit, I ordered the hamburger steak with rice, along with mac and cheese and green beans for my sides. Everything was good and full of flavor. The sides definitely gave classic comfort, out-the-box/canned vibes--but still seasoned well and satisfying. Most importantly, it's refreshing to have something in Garner that isn't just another traditional fast-food spot. The service was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back and trying more off the menu!

They do have seating available, but it feels more like a place where most people order their food and take it home. The parking lot is a little tight, but the food made up for it. I ordered the shrimp and fish basket, along with cabbage and mac & cheese for my sides. The cabbage was cooked well, and the mac & cheese was decent. The seafood was good, and overall the meal was worth the wait. One thing I enjoyed was their homemade lemonade. They also have plenty of menu options and daily specials depending on the day of the week, so there's a good chance you'll find something that fits what you're craving. Overall, it was a good experience. If you're in the Raleigh area and looking for some good seafood and soul food, I'd recommend giving this place a try. At the very least, it's worth checking off your list and seeing what all the buzz is about.

(She makes a good L.I.T) She had backup come in as we were gearing up to leave. It started to rain and she walked my mom to the car with an umbrella that is above and beyond service! It's one thing to do your job but that kind gesture made my entire experience that much more special. So to my servers, thank you once again!! Now, let get to the food and ambience, what were all her for. Appetizers: BBQ Cheese fries and Smoked wings ! They brought hush puppies and biscuits with their house made honey butter to the table. We ordered a couple of the Combination Plates, the BBQ Chicken Plate and the Pick two protein plates. Everything was good, and everyone left stuffed and had plenty of leftovers! We started with the pimento cheese balls, which were super cheesy and delicious. They also brought out biscuits and hush puppies, and those were perfect to start the meal. For the kids, we ordered a hot dog with fries, mac and cheese with fries, and a cheeseburger with fries. All of the kids loved their meals. The fries were really good (even I enjoyed them!), and the mac and cheese was definitely the favorite. The adults ordered a double combo with pulled pork and brisket, and it was big enough to easily split between two people. My husband and I both got the Pit bacon cheeseburger, and it was so good and huge. I ended up taking half home for later. My husband also got mac and cheese and shared it with the kids, while I ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were amazing. The staff was really friendly, and everything came out nicely. Overall, it was a great meal and a great experience, especially for our family !

I drove nearly an hour to get to this restaurant, excited to try the oxtails. Upon arrival, I was told they were no longer being served because they were out. This marks the third time I've driven there specifically for oxtails and was unable to get them due to being out of stock. This wasn't late in the afternoon either--I arrived right at lunch opening. I know what some of you are thinking: why not call ahead? You're absolutely right. That mistake is on me, and I've definitely learned that lesson. On a previous visit, I tried the shrimp and grits, and I'll give credit where it's due--they were actually phenomenal and easily the best thing I've had there. Unfortunately, my other experiences haven't matched that quality. The last time I visited, I settled for the brisket burrito. While sweet and savory can work together, this one was overwhelmingly sweet and just didn't hit the mark. I also asked for a Diet Coke and was told they only had Sprite, regular Coke, and water, which was surprising. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy, which had almost no flavor. For a southern soul food restaurant, that was pretty disappointing. I don't plan on coming back. I'm not mad--just disappointed. I hope this review helps others avoid making a long drive expecting a specific dish only to find out it's unavailable.
