Then, we got a message at about 2:20 - which I assumed was our reminder and I didn't open it. Then we walked to the shop and it was closed!!! I then opened the reminder and it said we were already 20 mins late and would be charged $75 for the missed appt. My friend called them immediately and we found that they had temporarily closed the Chicago store and were routing appointments to the NORTH CAROLINA store. This is why they thought we were late. Once we realized the issue - the woman on the phone was very apologetic and explained that the appts were getting rerouted but that it was a mistake on their end and they were very sorry. They refunded the fee. I am appreciative of this - but they really should have something to keep us from booking somewhere that isn't open. We wasted three hours of travel time and prep on a busy day. Boo. I'm sure the dresses are pretty though - that and the easy fix and apology upped the rating.

Kpoene tackled a major challenge of bunching that was happening under the bust. She helped lessen it by adding boning, which made the top more structured and somehow also more comfortable. During the wedding I never felt the need to pull my dress up (a feat in and of itself). Also, when the outcome of one fitting wasn't quite right at the bottom of the zipper, she graciously had me come back outside their normal hours so that she and Ariana could make sure it was perfect. Most important to me is that Kpoene made the experience memorable and enjoyable - not just for me, but for my best friend, mom, and sister. However, the service and communication surrounding the pickup appointment did not reflect the level of care expected from a luxury bridal experience. My appointment was scheduled for 11:00 AM. I called earlier that morning around 10:40 AM to confirm payment and communicated that I was on my way. Upon arrival, there were no available parking spots nearby, which contributed to my delay. I ultimately gave my parking spot to my sister, who is two weeks away from giving birth, requiring me to walk several blocks. At 11:07 AM, I received a text asking for my ETA. I immediately responded that I was nearby and only a few minutes away. I was told, "We'll have to be quick sadly," which reasonably led me to believe I would still be accommodated. It was also frustrating that I was receiving calls and texts while I was actively driving and trying to find parking, which added unnecessary pressure during an already tight arrival window. However, upon arrival, I was informed that the appointment would no longer be honored and I would need to reschedule. The inconsistency in communication was the most frustrating part of the experience. I was actively in contact, told the appointment could proceed if it was quick, and then turned away upon arrival. That disconnect made the situation unnecessarily stressful and avoidable. I was also only offered weekday pickup options when scheduling, with a Sunday alternative mentioned later, which was not presented upfront and made planning more difficult than it needed to be. I was also only offered a single appointment time on a Friday, listed simply as 11:00 AM rather than a defined arrival window (e.g., 11:00-11:30), which left little clarity around how strictly the timing would be enforced. Because of this, my sister had to leave, and I ultimately returned alone later that day at 3:30 PM to complete the pickup. What should have been a meaningful and celebratory milestone was fragmented into a stressful and disappointing experience. While I appreciate that the boutique ultimately accommodated me later that day, I expected a more consistent and empathetic experience from a luxury bridal brand--particularly in communication, flexibility, and consideration for time-sensitive appointments. Sarah Seven gowns are also available at other bridal boutiques in Chicago, such as Lovely Bride in the West Loop, giving brides flexibility in where they choose to complete their experience. I would also like to note that after submitting my review, I received a phone call from a brand manager named Katelyn. I found the interaction surprisingly unprofessional and discouraging. Rather than feeling that my concerns were being heard, I left the conversation feeling dismissed and uncomfortable for having voiced feedback about my experience. For additional context, my appointment was canceled at approximately 11:13 AM. My sister and I had already arrived and were sitting in the parking lot waiting for the appointment when we received the cancellation notification. We remained there for about 15 minutes trying to understand what had happened and what our options were. Given the timing, it was frustrating to learn that the appointment had been canceled after I had already made the trip and arrived for my scheduled appointment.
