Wound up here when Taste of Thai was closed on Labor Day. Taste of Thai is my all time favorite Thai restaurant, so I was bummed when I was in town and they weren't open. Anyway when walking down GR we discovered No Thai and decided to give it a shot. Prices were reasonable, and portions were large. Nothing too exciting on the menu. I decided to try their Pad Thai Curry- basically Pad Thai with red curry mixed in. I love Pad Thai, and I love red curry so I thought it would be great, but it was only so-so. My brother-in law got their cashew chicken, and it was also only so-so. Nothing amazing from either dish we got. Not bad, but with Taste of Thai in town I would have no reason to go back. Service wasn't bad, the girl taking our order was nice and answered any questions we had. However I was kind of irritated when I got bean sprouts in my meal when I asked for it without. I hate bean sprouts, I think they taste like dirt, so it didn't help the flavor of my dish any. Overall the place was alright, but again, with Taste of Thai right down the road I wouldn't need to go back- even if ToT was closed. read more

Manager is awful! I love no thai but i ordered on line and by accident I ordered at this location instead of mine (my town i guess does not have order on line). The locations of my no thai and this on is on same street. I called and asked to cancel. After being on hold for over 5 min. I got told they can not refund me because food was made. I know its my fault but you would think they would have tried to work with me. read more

I love the fact they use fresh ingredient, I can clearly see that in the ingredients. I'm a MSU student and this is one of my favorite go to spots on campus. They're always cook and I never had a bad experience when it comes to delivery. At time, they can be a lil iffy when it comes to the food. Got the sweet and spicy chicken. Every single bite was all fried breading, and no chicken. Over fried and battered. I simply asked them to make me a new order, and they said we're not giving you a new order or refund, but you can bring us the food back here if you want. Stupidest comment I've ever heard, why would I waste my time and gas for them to throw away my food, but this place is run by cheap people who don't care about their customers, just money. read more

New Thai place! New Thai place! Okay fine it's been here like a year but GUESS WHAT I don't live there anymore so it's new to me. Mom just told me about it last time I was home so we stopped for a little lunch on a Saturday. There was only a handful of other tables, but I think it was also like 2 pm or something weird. You order at the counter, the staff is young and friendly. Menu is on the wall. Somehow despite being pretty bare-bones the place has a funky feel to it. Mom and I split a tofu pad thai curry - we had dinner in a few hours so thus the splitting, but an order could feed a hungry person with a little bit leftover. The food just tasted fresh and delicious, right out of a hot wok. It was just spicy enough (if you can't handle a kick, definitely do mild because the medium bites back a tiny bit). The pineapple really makes it. It was honestly some of the least greasy Thai I've ever had. It's no-frills, small menu, and they aren't reinventing the wheel - but for fast, fresh Thai food, this is great stuff. read more

Almost every Friday my husband and I eat lunch here. Friendly, smiling staff. Yummy, fresh food. The heat level isn't always exactly the same, but close enough. (But pop refills are free!) Generous portions. Because this is located right on MSU campus, it gets pretty busy during lunchtime, especially if there's a home game that weekend. We just wait until after 1pm, and it slows down enough to easily find a place to sit in the rather small dining area. Parking is tricky, so if we can't find street (meter) parking we use the parking garage (they validate) on the side street or the one behind it (and enter the restaurant through the back door next to Starbucks). They also have a frequent customer card that earn a free meal after so many are purchased. read more

This is my favorite Thai carry out spot in East Lansing! The food is delicious and had very little grease and tons of flavor! Mild plus is perfect for heat, and medium will make my nose run! Both are amazing in their own way! I am a huge fan of peanut pad Thai, but my boyfriend has tried a few dishes and has had no complaints for any of them. We LOVED the crab wontons! They had the most crab out of any crab wonton/Rangoon we have ever tried. The spring rolls are also great. No Thai is fantastic! Flavorful food, fast service, and affordable. If you're looking for Asian cuisine, this is your place. Favorite dish is Pad Pak, I order it nearly every time. As for spice, you can spicy if you want. I prefer medium myself. There's a reason people love it here! read more

Best spot for thai food. It's my absolute favorite!

I have been to No Thai approximately 5 times since they have opened, as the location is quite close to my office. I have yet to have less than wonderful food there. The portion is huge and can either be split between two people or have enough leftovers for another meal. The best thing is how fresh everything is. The vegetables are clearly cooked from fresh for each order - as they still have a bite. This allows the cooks at No Thai to customize each order. I always order light sauce and they are happy to accommodate. Also, they have brown rice as an option for only $1 more. This adds a level of health (and protein) to the meal which is great. I always get their tofu, but they meat options look well done also. The only slight issue is that the tofu is deep fried. I wish they just stir fried it, as the deep fry adds so many calories. All in all, No Thai is a wonderful addition to Grand River. I think it's catching on because they are always packed during the lunch hour. read more

First and foremost, No Thai! SHOULD BE THOUGHT OF AS A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT! The premise of this place is to order at a counter, wait approximately 3 minutes, and BOOM your delicious Thai dish is ready to devour. There are too many reviews complaining about the lack of servers and menu limitations (they only have 20 entrees instead of the 50-100 you might find at a different place) but in order to fit into the fast-in-fast-out niche these limitations are necessary. You don't walk into a Quiznos and complain that your sandwich didn't come with a complimentary appetizer and a server didn't bring your meal to you, and you shouldn't do that here! In regards to the price, yes $8.50 is a little steep, however the quality of food is definitely superior to your standard quick counter-order dish, and if you aren't eating like a glutton, the noodle portions will provide enough for one meal and a hearty (and especially scrumptious) snack. In anticipation of this, I will generally order my dish in a to-go box (which is microwavable as well as reusable) to both prevent unnecessary dish washing and force myself to eat like a normal human being. Overall, if you're looking for a nice sit-down Thai restaurant with very authentic Thai food, this isn't the place you should go. However, if you want a quick tasty Thai dish with large portions, I highly recommend you check this place out! read more

I love going to this No Thai between classes. The food is always fantastic and consistent. HOWEVER, my most recent visit, I left the establishment absolutely REEKING of oil. Almost as if someone dunked me into a batch of freshly fried french fries. I took a walk around campus hoping the cold winter air would blow some of the smell off of me. Nope. I sat down in class and it was still as strong as the moment I left the restaurant. I started to feel self conscious because I was sure people around me smelled it too, and left class early to go home and wash all my clothes and take a bath. Now, I love No Thai. I always get the fried rice, but I really can't keep returning for lunch if I'm leaving with lingering fried rice vapors that follow me to my grave. This is more of a once in a while treat. No Thai is by far the best place in East Lansing to get some Thai food. The staff here are friendly and speedy. I normally get the vegetarian fried rice or the sweet and spicy chicken. The price is rather high for a college town (they charge the same prices you would see in a Chicago town) but the portions of food match the price quite well. I also like the packaging for to-go orders; it's a quality container great for heating left overs. The spring rolls here are also best in town, however, sometimes I pass on ordering them considering it's $3 for two rolls. I think $2 for $2 would be more reasonable or even if you could purchase them for $1.50 each would be nice. On the down side, I wish this location could take delivery orders in the store or on the phone. They only resort to online delivery orders. It's a pain because you have to make a profile on their website and fill out this and that. It would be nice if they could just take orders over the phone. I have been to this location over a dozen times in my college career thus far and have yet to be utterly dissapointed. read more

My favorite comfort food when I'm in East Lansing. My go to is Drunken Noodles with tofu! I've had many a tofu cube and there's something about their tofu that can't be topped. It's soft on the outside and juicy on the inside. The spring rolls and wontons are delicious. Takeout is always fast and hot. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. The window bar seats are fun to sit at and people watch. Great casual atmosphere for small groups less than 6 people. Ordering online with in-store pickup is convenient and they validate parking. read more

Have been coming here since I started attending MSU 3 years ago and this is always a nice place to get quick Thai food when you are on a time restraint. I would say the food is decent, but I have had better and more flavorful dishes elsewhere. When you are craving Thai food this does hit the shot though. Only thing I do not like is the small selection of menu items. I'm definitely one to try a different dish every time I go and this place I have pretty much ordered every thing off the menu now. Another thing I have to bring up is that if you are sensitive to spicy foods you should definitely order no spice for your meal. This place is very inconsistent with there spice levels. I can order a dish medium and have it not be spicy at all while my roommate will order a mild dish and it would be spicier than my dish. This has happened to me every single time I have been here. Only cool thing about this place other than being fast service is that they have a rewards card you can sign up for so if you order 10 dishes you get the next one free. Always a good idea to use when you come with family because then the number increases quickly! First I will say I love just about all Thai food. That being said out of the Thai places I have been this is by far not one of the greatest. The food was very bland and he Thai iced tea even taste artificial. I would highly recommend walking the extra block to go to Thai 102 instead, still not the best Thai food I have ever had but it is far better then No! I'm not sure what any of these people who rate this amazing restaurant with anything less than at LEAST 3 stars are talking about. I couldn't disagree more, but hey, to each their own I guess. Also, it is a clean restaurant, so if someone says otherwise I have a feeling they are just whining to whine. Now to the goods- I would travel well out of my way for the potato curry, it is one of the best dishes I have had, and I'm not just saying Thai dishes, it's one of the best anywhere. Period. I used to get the pad thai, pad thai curry and drunken noodle, but I can't stop getting the potato curry. I always get tofu, and for my money, it's the best tofu I have ever had. Their chicken is really good as well, but their tofu is the PERFECT texture, not soggy, not over fried and tough, JUST right. And if you like spicy food, this is your jam (thank me later). If you're trying to sweat and cry while eating, ask for double dim mak, and make sure you have some time to shower afterward (sounds like it's bad, but it's actually so spicy and so good that who even cares, I just wouldn't get double dim mak for lunch at work). Their spring rolls are decent, my gf likes them, I'm not a big spring roll kinda fan. So, all in all, this restaurant should get 6 or 7 stars, and while I've been told at times that it's not exactly the most AUTHENTIC thai food, I happen to think it is pretty darn close, and it is by FAR the best thai food I have ever had. The employees have always been nice, helpful, and the food is out quickly (unless you go during the week during peak lunch times while the students (ugh) are still in town). If you think this restaurant deserves 1 star, I suggest you go to any of the other chain restaurants whose clueless student employees will surely give you "5-star" service, your "refined" palette will appreciate that. They frequently mess up orders, which I understand happens, but they make no attempts to correct their mistake or even seem apologetic about it. I've worked in the food service industry, and that is not the way to do things if you want to keep your customers coming back.
