2nd review, you know you walk into a place holding your breathe because you're bringing your daughter that you told about this place and how marvelous you thought it was the last time you were there. First drinks, I got Mango with lychee, delicious! And my daughter got a strawberry boba tea with bubbles, loved it. Then it was Edamane, small portion but was seasoned perfectly, suitable for an appetizer. My daughter got the Japanese udon noodles with shrimp and I got Yakisoba noodles with shrimp! I love when food comes out so hot you cannot put it in your mouth. That's one of my favorite things about a good restaurant. It was hot! And delicious. Thank you again for a fantastic meal! I ordered Bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef) and it was jam packed with flavor. I was in heaven for a second. The menu had the best of all three countries. This is a must visit. This little spot is a bit unassuming, but don't sleep on YumYum Bento! Their menu is large, with lots of great Asian dishes: Korean, Japanese, and Thai food are all represented. They also have bubble tea and other specialty drinks. There's a small parking lot behind the building, or you can park on the residential streets in the area. We were greeted right away and the only customers in the restaurant for a time. I noticed a few people picking up takeout orders. The space is pretty small, but had nice light and was cozy. I'd recommend takeout during peak dining hours. To start, Nate and I ordered the shrimp tempura and the takoyaki. For our late lunch, we got the black garlic tonkotsu ramen and the katsu pork curry. The appetizers came out quickly, and the shrimp tempura was some of the best I've had. Super crispy outside, with perfectly cooked, juicy shrimp. The portion was generous for the two of us to share, with six pieces total. The takoyaki were really tasty as well. I hoped for a bit more octopus inside, but I liked the addition of the sauces and bonito flakes. I was shocked when our entrees arrived - the portions were huge! My ramen bowl was massive, and full of smooth, rich broth and thick slices of chashu (pork belly). The katsu was a large cutlet with a big scoop of rice and plenty of savory gravy. I really enjoyed both dishes, but my favorite was the ramen. We definitely could have shared either of these meals, but I'm glad we got to try a few things. This is my favorite restaurant close to campus. The food is delicious, affordable, and within walking distance from North and RiverTrail Neighborhoods. They're always playing a Miyazaki movie in the background and everything is cute inside. I took my dad and sister here and they enjoyed too on their visit! The slushees are INSANE. The same lady has been at the counter to give me my order and is always extremely kind. I came up this way for work. It's about a hour and thirty min drive and I see this little store across from where I'm working and thank god I came to check it out. The staff is super friendly and always around when you need anything. I came in when it wasn't to busy tho. But the food. Now let me tell you I will happily make the long drive all the way up here again just for the food I got the tonkotsu ramen and it has to be the best ramen in Michigan it was super rich the flavors made me feel like I was being held by a big breasted women. The pork was so soft but firm. The broth was like drinking from a pond in heaven. The place looks uninviting from the outside but when you come in it's very cozy they have soft music playing in the background and very good lighting. I would highly recommend coming here. Stopped by for dinner. We were greeted and quickly seated. The menu has many choices. We decided on a couple of appetizers- shrimp shu mai and crab Rangoon, the crab Rangoon was amazingly crispy and delicious. I was told the shu mai was also delicious. We went there during weekend and was a bit surprised as they only open for take out. I guess I was not aware of it since restaurants are reopened for dine in. But they have small space, I think that could be the reason for not having enough space for social distance. So we ordered to go Pad Thai, Thai Red curry with shrimp and 2 tea ( jasmine green tea & coconut milk tea). The tea were yummy, those were gone on the way home. Thai Red Curry with shrimp is really delicious, quite spicy but I knew it before ordered. A lot of shrimp so I love that. But Pad Thai were quite plain, not flavorful according to my husband. He ate Pad Thai very often at another Thai restaurant, and he said he would not other this dish again from Yum Yum Bento. I've been here a couple of times and its definitely one of the better restaurants in East Lansing. Appetizers: Chicken karaage is good. Gyoza is okay. The bulgogi is great and probably my favorite thing on the menu at the moment. The korean spicy stir fry is also pretty good. Katsu curry rice was okay... curry was not great, tasted like box curry. Thai red curry was more salty than other red curries I've had at other places, I didn't like the taste. Overall, it is a place with friendly and decent service and pretty good food. The decor is nice too and the place is clean. I would give it 5 stars, but some of the menu items I've had have left more to be desired. read more

Nice quality lunch meals/bentos. We ordered takeout. The price can't be beat for these quality bentos. Ordered Chicken Thai Fried Rice Bento that includes Tom Yum Soup, spring roll and salad. The Tom Yum Soup was made perfect, and it was not too sour. I have to say the soup is probably the best in Lansing. Ordered Curry Katsu Chicken Bento with deep fried potato pattie and miso soup. My wife early enjoyed it. Outside does not look spectacular but inside is very modern. The service was excellent. They also have Korean cuisine and we will try it next time. Cutest little bento spot that offers Japanese, Korean and Thai dishes. It's located where Galbi King used to be at, close to the MSU campus. I was so skeptical to try this place at first because of the assortment of asian cuisine in one restaurant. What kind of asian cuisine have they mastered? Which asian cuisine did they pay more attention to? Well, to me, any place that names itself "Asian fusion" is always going to get some degree of healthy skepticism. That being said, I was impressed with our experience. I loved the aesthetic appeal on the inside - minimalist, crisp white theme, cafe-style decor. Not very catchy looking from the outside, though. The food was not any different - loved the presentation and the food was very tasty! I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered: Bibimbap with banchan and miso soup combo, Thai red curry with house salad and tomyum soup combo (personal favorite!), and Dumplings. One takeaway though, while the Thai red curry was my favorite, they used thinly sliced bulgogi beef as my protein. I mean, it makes sense because it's a fusion restaurant, right? It was just a little weird first but the flavors were good enough to compensate! ;) I think they made a safe choice with their menu. They chose to put items that are not very complex to make: bibimbap, stir-fry chicken, bulgogi, udon, etc...and I'm not mad about that! The ordering process was quick and convenient, there was a lot of amazing menu options to choose from, and the food was healthy and tasty. We got everything warm, and the portions were perfect sized. The place is cute, clean, and simple, not fancy. I liked it so much I came back about 4 times in one week and keep coming back. I grew up in LA, where there is a large Asian community. I've had all these foods since I was a child. I've also been to Korea, Japan, and China several times. I'm not Asian but I think I know authentic Asian foods. I came here based on the reviews alone not really sure what I was hungry for, debating on several other places. I left completely satisfied and assured I would be back. Here's why: the menu is one of the most beautiful, well thought out and professionally put together I have seen in a long time.. it took me quite some time to make a decision and the waitress , who happened to also be the owner, was so patient. I chose pan fried dumplings and they were prepared perfectly, just as I remember from my time in Japan. I also ordered pork katsu curry. Flavorful and spot on. I could really feel the care put into my dishes. Such a cute, quaint place with a friendly uplifting atmosphere. There's a reason why restaurants succeed or fail. I usually have had a good experience eating here but last time we came here on a Saturday they were very short-staffed. We waited over an hour for our food. I got mine first and then my friend didn't get their food for another 25 minutes. My food was cold by the time we began to eat and the rice was very stale. Definitely not worth the $30 and the mcdonalds across the street would have been better for $5. They had one little kid who appeared no older than 12/13 years-old running around waiting tables. The restaurant was packed and there were at least 10-15 pickup and doordash orders while we waited. As someone who's managed a restaurant before I can tell they're definitely making a killing. They have two fancy cars parked in the back worth at least $130k combined yet they're too cheap to hire and pay proper staff. read more
