4.5 stars. Noah's cafe is a vibe, featuring daily discounted specials, happy hour with discounted deals twice daily, and Japanese fusion tapas. I came in just after 9 PM for happy hour and soaked up the vibrant energy from both solo diners reading a book over a nice meal to groups exploding into laughter. I also heard a lot of Japanese conversation and enjoyed the lo-fi music. My husband and I agreed standout dishes were the tuna takaki, fried chicken, and negitoro. The cheese butter and the Wagyu tartare with chips were good, but we felt the tartare was a bit rich and could be served on a more plain chip. The brussel sprouts were on the richer/oily side. Drinks were superb. Overall, a very nice place for every occasion.

I had placed Noah's Cafe on my list for ages but never managed to get a visit in until last week for a girl's night dinner. This place is wonderful as it has vegan options for my best friend to enjoy as well as a happy hour menu after 9pm for cheaper bites and drinks. The place is small, but modern and stylish. We were sat near the door, which was less preferred but overall did not bother us too much. I was particularly enamoured by the drinks and the fancy little gas bubble that they blow onto it and was even more impressed at the happy hour price paid for it. The drinks not only looked good but tasted good as well! For food, we shared a variety of beautifully plated appetizers and mains. The cheese tofu was so yummy! Brussels were not a standout but still a good staple. The duck breast was tender and delicious with the variety of sweet/savoury sauces - I especially thought the sautéed duck skin with onion was interesting and thought it was a nice change of texture. For the pasta, I wasn't sure what to expect, but when it arrived I realized it was a fried ball of crab on top. Although there was not much crab, the pasta was well seasoned and cooked al dente. Since we stayed into happy hour, we also had the chance to order additional appetizers to share. Everything was standard for what it should be. I think the standouts for this place are definitely the drinks. Service was prompt and the servers are attentive with plate changes and water filling. I would definitely like to come back to try more menu items on happy hour!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Why did I not go to this place sooner?! Starting from the whole ambience, to the food, to the service, everything was chef's kiss! We ordered the famous omlette rice. It was not exactly the omurice I had envisioned, ( NOT a soft French omlette with gooey centre), but it was an omlette with meat and rice, and fabulous gravy. It was so so delicious. I did not expect to like it so much! I absolutely loved it and craved for more! I ordered their fancy sake cocktail! It was absolutely spectacular and had a great kick to it! The service was attentive and quite prompt!

Back at Noah's! Not sure what happened but service was really slow on this Wednesday night, though the staff did apologize for that. The uni pasta was delicious and I'd get it again! The avocado was an interesting choice - definitely an umami bomb with the chicken but not sure I'm feeling the combination of ingredients! Ceviche was fresh but I wish there was more of it.

I haven't had such unique flavours in a while! Love the ambiance. We got uni butter, cheese tofu, and omelette hayashi! They were all amazing. I was worried the hayashi would be salty but it was very well balanced. The rice texture was amazing.

What a vibe! Legit Japanese izakaya, as the decor was so unique and that gorg bar! As I am on the last day of dry Jan, I didn't try the cocktails but our table got mocktails. We all ordered DOV dine out Vancouver menu and hands down so glad we tried this place thanks to a friend's suggestion as barely check out restaurants on Denman. It was exceptional from the service to the food to the ambiance. It's rare to find all 3. My favorite was the sablefish w/ tofu with the cardamom donuts a close second. But everything was delicious as our table agreed every bite was great. The meal was well balanced and the flavors were authentic. Highly recommend and check out the cool retro bathroom, they've thought of every detail. I thought I ordered the house made ginger ale to realize it was a ginger punch mocktail, no wonder it tasted sweet, as not a fan of mocktails due to high sweetness but I only asked at the end oh well, our waitress was amazing.

met up for late night happy hour at 9:16 pm on a thursday at noah's cafe, a spot neither of us had been to before, but figured the menu looks interesting, let's give it a try, why not? the only clue we were in the right place was a cheeky sign that read "little tokyo this way," which felt very on brand for a tucked away tokyo style izakaya. no flashing signage, no obvious storefront, just a hint and a hunch. noah's cafe is a japanese fusion tapas bar tucked along denman at 1096, and the vibe hits instantly. cozy, moody, and effortlessly cool, it's got that underground speakeasy feel, exposed brick walls, rustic wooden stools, shelves stacked with bottles, and soft neon glows (including an adorable glowing martini glass). the bartender's focused, the music's low, and it feels like the kind of place you could easily lose track of time in. it was packed and loud. we ordered a few dishes to share, starting with the uni butter, made a with fresh uni sashimi blended with miso and truffle, served with house jam and soft charcoal focaccia. rich, creamy, and surprisingly balanced. the nfc (noah's fried chicken) was a generous plate of crispy, juicy dark meat served with a tangy yuzu miso aioli. and the omelette hayashi rice, recommended by our server, was a comforting plate of mushroom omelette over rice, smothered in japanese style hashed beef stew, finished with parmigiano reggiano and onion bits. i was hoping the omelette would be softer and runny, not sure if it was meant to be cooked through, but the dish was hearty and full of flavour. we wrapped things up with the chestnut cheesecake, light, creamy, and not too sweet. a lovely way to end the meal. they have weekday specials, like feast and pour mondays, dj tuesdays, wing wednesdays, and even an omakase menu. first visit, but definitely not the last. if you're looking to be transported to a cozy corner of tokyo without leaving the west end, something off the beaten path, with good food, good drinks, and great ambiance, this is it.

Uni creme Pasta 10/10 this dish is a must try!

They really know how to do Dine Out. The mini Arc plate was amazing. About six different items from the menu and every single one was good. * The uni pasta was surprisingly very good. I'm not usually a uni fan, but this was 100% worth trying. * Donuts were delicious. * Great cocktail selection and the cocktails actually tasted really good. * Excellent service, staff were attentive despite being a full house and super busy. The only downside to this place is the high-top seating was uncomfortable. Will definitely come back!

Highly recommend Noah's Cafe for happy hour (5-6pm; 9pm-close - daily). We tried bunch of food and cocktails from the menu and they were all delicious. Personal faves were the uni butter, negitoro X focaccia, omelette hayashi rice, and wagyu beef tartare. Service is always warm and friendly and the space is cozy. Will definitely come back!

I have seen some pretty cute drinks here and was not disappointed. Their most popular cocktail, Japanese Greyhound, was such a fun drink with the bubble on top! And it was so, so tasty. I also got a Strawberry Night but preferred the Japanese Greyhound more. For our party of two, we shared: ° Wagyu Beef Tartare ° Cheese Tofu ° Squid & Chips ° Uni Creme Pasta My favourite was the cheese tofu. The cheese with the maple honey, on the charcoal focaccia was such a delicious combo. I had to scoop up every last bit. The wagyu beef tartare is a solid choice as well paired with the truffle potato chips. Place is cozy and intimate, and service was prompt and professional.

I have to give this place 5 stars. It's a small place with a good amount of tables, stools, and bar seating. The vibes are really nice with music that isn't too loud. We were visiting for a couple days and went a total of 3 times!! We ate through a lot of the menu since there were so many dishes that appealed to us! The uni truffle omelette lunch was my husbands favorite and my personal was the blacked amago on the dinner menu. All the flavors were well balanced and quite frankly addicting. I don't plan to be back in Vancouver for a while but if I visited again I would for sure go back once more. The service was impeccable and all the staff we interacted with were so helpful and nice! Other highlights we enjoyed were the wagyu tartare, cheese tofu, beef tongue, duck radicchio salad. We're not huge drinkers but the drinks we had were amazing as well. Cheers to the staff and chefs here. They hit the spot every time.

We were just visiting Vancouver for one night and I'm so glad we decided to get dinner here. We happened to show up right at nighttime happy hour (9PM) which was a nice surprise. We loved the smaller portions so we could try multiple options. The space is nicely decorated and comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly, some of the best service I've experienced in a while. Our favorite was the uni butter, a must try. Pairs nicely with the bread and jam. We also liked the unique cocktails, like tea based drinks and the fig cocktail. Absolutely recommend stopping by here for delicious, high-quality food and drinks!

Went for lunch and ordered Noah's Arc which comes with a bunch of mini dishes like a sample. The server guy explained all dishes well. All were delicious and it was very fulfilling! The place was clean, compact, cozy and quiet enough to have a conversation easily. Their sign was small and subtle so it might be a little challenging to find when you go there for the first time. Plus, they only accept the reservation through their website and it requires a credit card since they would charge you $50 if you cancel the reservation within 24 hours. I'm not sure if I'm going to make a reservation next time... FWIW, two of us went there on Saturday at 1pm and it seemed there were some tables available. I might not have needed to reserve a table.

For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant". When we opted to sit on the patio she gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a thank you. It was such a kind gesture. It was a nice relaxing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Didn't taste very fresh and the orange vinaigrette sauce didn't do anything to help it. The jasmine rice balls were an interesting touch. Wouldn't recommend Shishitos and cauliflower ($14) - the cauliflower florets were nice but the shishitos were lacking that snap you get (it was a bit soggy). Wouldn't recommend Steamed Bao bun with butter prawn masala ($21) - this was one of the highlights of the night. The butter masala went so well with the Bao bun and it soaked up that sauce perfectly. Loved the snap from the shrimp but wish there was more of it dispersed throughout the dish. Definitely get this dish Crab satay ($19) - this dish was weird... The crab was misled by the flavour of the peanut sauce and it just didn't work well together as a dish. Each component was fine on its own but nothing worked together. The cabbage salad felt like just an afterthough. Would not recommend. Sweet and sour pork belly ($16) - this dish was also interesting - it felt more like just a crispy pork belly. That's it. The sweet and sour sauce felt non- existent. There needed to be another punch in this dish to make it more complete. Wouldn't recommend Sea bass ($37) - this dish was great. Loved the texture of the sea bass. The potato gnocchi was a nice touch and that Goan curry sauce went really well with everything. Wouldn't order again Beef Kad Pra kao ($29) - this was another miss. The beef wasnt chewy but it lacked flavour. It needed more basil in it to bring out the flavour. Nothing about this dish impressed. Wouldn't order again Dubai chocolate bar ($17) - absolutely delicious. Loved the crispness of the chocolate crumb offset by the softness of the dense pistachio creme and the chocolate ganache. The little bits of the rose petals gave it that essence that it needed. It wasn't overly sweet. Would get this again Overall quite a few missed and some great dishes. The serving sizes are appropriate for the price. The service was great and not overbearing. Definitely try the steamed bun, the sea bass and the Dubai chocolate bar. My biggest issue with the dishes were that the garnished were almost the same for every dish. I understand it's for the pop of colour but it was so repetitive and didn't add any value to the fish other than the pop of colour (the green shoots and the red radish). I had the spiced Guatemalan carajillo it was pretty smooth and not too sweet. I would want to try their other drinks as they have quite an extensive menu.

I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.
