The last drink I had when I dined at Noah's was the Eclipse -- pisco, charcoal, caradamom, yuzu, rosemary syrup, and angostura -- and I'm still thinking about it weeks later. Eclipse was airy and refreshing, but it also had depth. The uni pasta fills the void in my heart (and stomach!) that's been there since The Rise Eatery closed. Speaking of seafood, the oysters topped with ikura felt so precious. It's served with a shoyu vinaigrette that I definitely recommend adding a spoonful of. We went here for a special occasion and did the omakase tasting. It was our first time doing omakase so we don't have any expectations. It didn't blow me away but overall it was really good. You get an insane amount of food. I don't know anyone who could finish the amount they served you so it's great value for only 100 CAD. The standouts for us were the Brussel sprouts, negitoro, and the scallop from the starters and the Gorgonzola gnocchi from the main. The best dessert was the cardamom mochi doughnuts. It is a small space so they only have one waitress. She is a very good job handling all the tables and they were all full when we were there. She was also super sweet and helped us with recommendations. They have a good happy hour here so if I go back it would probably be for happy hour or just ordering à la carte off the menu. After months of procrastination, I finally made my way down to this little gem. So worth the planning and wait. This place is a cute little fusion japanese place that has the cutest decor if i have to say. From small led signs on the wall to an old record vinyl player in the women's washroom. The wooden wall and the dim ambiance everywhere really sets the relaxing vibes whether just for some casual good quality drinks or a fun romancy outing with your partner or some catch up time with your gfs. Hence good vibes led light is sitting in the most perfect spot on the wall i'd say. I do have to share the place is smaller so seating is a bit tighter. Neighbour beside me that left after the first couple ... wasn't the nicest . So don't have chunky items with you or a giant purse you won't have proper comfortable seating if you run into the luck that i did. The guy beside me was essentially pushing me off my little square mat at some point but good thing i was wrapping up my meal by that point. But anywhooz out of all the things that i've tried in the pictures shared, my ultimate faves were the scallop motoyaki and uni crème pasta, make sure you go for the full order it's a good size, half is too small in my opinion. The linguini was cooked al dente, the creaminess of this dish is still lingering in my memories. The tobiko and ikura scattered on the top really leveled up the dish. Came to Noah to try their happy hour menu after having drinks here a couple months ago. The happy hour drink menu has a lot of fun cocktails to choose from. We chose some oysters, uni butter which i loved from the last visit, their cheese tofu and their noah fried chicken My favorite was the cheese tofu. I had placed Noah's Cafe on my list for ages but never managed to get a visit in until last week for a girl's night dinner. This place is wonderful as it has vegan options for my best friend to enjoy as well as a happy hour menu after 9pm for cheaper bites and drinks. The place is small, but modern and stylish. We were sat near the door, which was less preferred but overall did not bother us too much. I was particularly enamoured by the drinks and the fancy little gas bubble that they blow onto it and was even more impressed at the happy hour price paid for it. The drinks not only looked good but tasted good as well! For food, we shared a variety of beautifully plated appetizers and mains. The cheese tofu was so yummy! Brussels were not a standout but still a good staple. The duck breast was tender and delicious with the variety of sweet/savoury sauces - I especially thought the sautéed duck skin with onion was interesting and thought it was a nice change of texture. For the pasta, I wasn't sure what to expect, but when it arrived I realized it was a fried ball of crab on top. Although there was not much crab, the pasta was well seasoned and cooked al dente. Since we stayed into happy hour, we also had the chance to order additional appetizers to share. Everything was standard for what it should be. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Why did I not go to this place sooner?! Starting from the whole ambience, to the food, to the service, everything was chef's kiss! We ordered the famous omlette rice. Listen... listen. This place is transcendent. The vibes are immaculate. This is a tiny restaurant so make sure you get a reservation before you go. We didn't have a reservation and they got us in, miraculously, but we were tucked into a corner with very little wiggle room. That being said, the hostess was wondeful and we were so happy to be tucked in that corner, albeit a bit cramped. The establishment is very chic. There was vintage hip hop playing but it was just the right volume, not too loud to overpower. The food was heaven sent. We got the brussle sprouts, fried chicken and tuna tataki, all of which were perfectly seasoned. The house sauce was a bit spicy so I ended up asking for the miso sauce for the chicken, which was literally perfect. We each got non-alcoholic mixed drinks, which were divine. Plus, they only accept the reservation through their website and it requires a credit card since they would charge you $50 if you cancel the reservation within 24 hours. As a loyal fan of Noah's Cafe from their old location from years ago, I'm so happy that they have moved into a newer location with more tables and space. For food we ended up getting the uni crème pasta to share and the squid and chips by recommendation. I definitely feel like the uni crème pasta you'd need to share otherwise the taste will be too much but because we shared it was a delightful amount and I was so satisfied. It definitely tasted like uni which is hard to find where I come from. The noodle texture was also really great and I was shocked it had caviar on it because it was only 30-40 dollars. The squid and chips were really good - the squid was sushi grade and paired really well with the fried brussel sprouts! We both got the Noah's ark ($30). It's a lunch special with 9 different bites. Noah's cafe has the feel of a speakeasy hidden away in plain sight. We almost walked past the restaurant twice. The inside was very dark and atmospheric with great indie music. Sometimes it felt a bit loud both because of the background music as well the fact that you're very close to your neighbors. My husband and I dined here during our recent visit to Toronto. It was a 5-star experience. In fact, the food is solidly five stars and some of the best food we tasted in Toronto. Where the experience was a little lacking was the uncomfortable chairs (most of the seats in the establishment were high wooden chairs), loud environment and the sometimes long pause between certain dishes. But in the end, I'm still giving it 5 stars because of the great food and friendly service staff. Our entire waitstaff were so sweet and explained all the dishes very well. I would definitely go back very often if I actually lived here. Between my husband and me, we ordered 4 dishes to share, almost all of which were superb: 1. Uni creme pasta - my tie for favorite dish and my husband's favorite. The whole pasta is so decadent with rich uni flavor - I could taste the uni in the sauce as I was scrapping every morsel and drop off our plates at the end. And the generous portions of bay scallops, prawns, uni sashimi, and caviar definitely made this pasta feel like it's well worth the money. 2. Beef tartare - my tie for favorite dish. The combination of cured egg yolk, amazing seasoning, caviar, and tender beef tenderloin created such a great balance of salty, sour, and acidic - it was an unami bomb in my mouth. 3. Squid & chips - I honestly loved this dish too and it was only slightly below 1 & 2. The name is a little deceptive because the chip is the fried brussel sprouts which has this amazing bold flavor with slightly charred notes. The squid was also masterly and delicately fried - so tender on the inside and lightly battered on the outside. Probably the lightest "fish & chip" dish I've ever had and didn't made me feel gross and unhealthy after eating it. 4. Confit beef tongue - still pretty good but definitely our least favorite of the night. The beef tongue itself is very tender and you really need to mix it with all the creamy sauce and mirin mustard to truly taste the complexity of the flavors. There was a portion of the tongue that was maybe a bit too crunchy but it adds an interest textural element to the dish. I also ordered a virgin cilantro Yuzu mojito - it was very refreshing but a little too sweet. Cute little quaint Cafe in yaletown. Love the homey vibes and loving the social distancing measures put in place to feel safe while dining. Its not a big cafe, but the service and food is legit! I went for brunch and ordered the tonkatsu and couldn't resist but also get the sando!!! Yum these have been so hype lately and with this Japanese fusion cuisine the chefs have truly served up some quality authentic Japanese cuisine in a really unique way. Loved all the flavors and textures of the food. I'd highly recommend going for brunch but I know their dinner menu has more. I can not wait to come back and eat more delicious food!!!! I wanted to try Noah's Cafe for a long time now. I have heard nothing but good things about this place. The ambience is relaxing, not super formal. It is a great casual date spot. The service was friendly - servers consistently checked on us, and explained the menu well too. For drinks - we tried the Rikyu and Tipsy Tofu. Both drinks were yummy and had unique ingredients. We started off with the Uni Sashimi and Uni Butter. You will soon notice a theme here for the night is Uni (lol). As Uni lovers, it's hard to resist when you see them on the menu. Uni Sashimi is very fresh, though the seaweed seems to be a bit on the saltier side so you may not need to add too much soy sauce. Uni butter was so nicely done - creamy and melts in your mouth. It goes perfectly with the bread provided. Beef tartare was also great - but the beef itself could use a bit more flavouring, or perhaps adding some "crunch" factors in it to make the dish more interesting. Chicken Karaage was nicely done as well. For entrees, we had the Scallops & Foie Gras and Uni Pasta. You cannot go wrong with the combination of Scallops and Foie Gras. The scallops were perfectly seared, along with the foie Gras... this was my favourite dish of the night. Everything was done perfectly in this dish. Uni pasta - fresh pasta mixed in with buttery uni sauce. It was also amazing. Overall, all the foods tasted great. I would likely come back again to try other dishes! read more

It's easy to miss the inconspicuous Noah's Cafe on Davie Street, but it's certainly not something to pass up. The restaurant serves an eclectic array of Japanese fusion tapas and cocktails in an intimate setting. Having dined here three times, these are my tried and true recommendations: SQUID & CHIPS ($18): Lightly battered squid with the perfect chew (no rubber bands here)! It is lightly dusted with parmiggiano reggiano and matcha salt, though the warm truffle oil butter offers a bolder, earthy flavour. The fried brussels sprouts are not forgotten either - these wonderfully crisp buds are packed with zest (I believe it's a vinagrette dressing) in its nooks and crannies. SEARED HAMACHI CRUDO ($18): Such clean flavours! There are five slabs of yellow tail hamachi, each adorned with lumpfish caviar and pea shoots. The light wasabi dressing and onion ponzu really help to enhance the hamachi without detracting from its freshness. UNI CREME PASTA ($32): This is perhaps the most popular dish at Noah's Cafe, and for good reason too! Bucatini is a wise choice here because the creamy sauce coats each al dente strand, both inside and out, so that the rich uni flavour really carries through. On top of that (quite literally) is a piece of uni, as well as plump prawns, baby scallops, and lumpfish caviar. It's so delectable and a must order if it's your first (or upteenth) time here. I've also ordered the Shio Pork Belly ($20), Fois Gras & Scallops ($32), and Dashi Saba Tempura ($16), but these were slightly heavier and oilier than I would've liked. As for drinks and desserts, I have not ventured far and have only tried the Japanese Grey Hound ($15) (a whimsical drink with a cocktail smoke bubble) and the Chestnut Cheesecake ($10) (soft cheesecake served with earl grey peppermint ice cream and amaretto foam), both of which I would recommend. The service at Noah's Cafe is also exceptional. All of my servers have been extremely amiable and knowledgeable, with my water glass being topped up and each dish being described when served. Since it is a small restaurant though, you can expect to wait a bit - be it for your table (resos are a must, and recommended party size is 2-4) or for your food - but know that the wait (and splurge) will be worth it once you taste these dishes. read more

A small unassuming Japanese fusion restaurant that was absolutely spectacular. I was blown away by every dish that was served and the drinks were delicious & beautiful as well! They're a tiny location, so reserve in advance! *MUST TRY DRINK* - Japanese Grey Hound (5/5) - $15 Taste: Perfect balance of sweetness and alcohol - the flavours of yuzu and grapefruit really pull through, not to mention it is delightfully beautiful, served with a bubble on top! Yuzu Tuna Tataki (4/5) - $10 Taste: Extremely fresh tuna tataki, paired with a refreshing yuzu sauce - this was a light appetizer that was great to start off the meal. Portion Size: Small portion to be shared for 2 people (4-5 pieces) *MUST TRY* Scallop & Foie Gras (5/5) - $30 Taste: If I could give this more than five stars, I would. This dish was the definition of a chef's kiss! The freshest, largest pieces of seared hokkaido scallop topped with caviar and paired with MELT IN YOUR MOUTH foie gras. The flavours were extremely warm & complimentary. SAVOUR EACH BITE CAREFULLY! Portion Size: Entrée for 1 (3 pce scallops, 3 pce foie gras, on the smaller side) *MUST TRY* Uni Crème Pasta (5/5) - $30 Taste: If you love seafood, this is the dish for you - a creamy garlicky uni pasta served with prawns, baby scallops, and two pieces of fresh local uni. Cute cafe and super aesthetic; however, the food is nothing special - which made me super sad because I wanted to love the place. The drinks on the other hand were phenomenal!!!
