I drove over an hour to visit the town of Carthage and try a local place for a good hamburger. This place was recommended by a local who grew up in the area. The atmosphere had a lot of charm and interesting decor. I observed many families of all ages dining. The table had several spots of sticky syrup on it from previous customers that I found by placing my arm on the table. The waitress and staff were very friendly and attentive to taking care of the customers. I chose the BBQ Bacon Hamburger and it was a disappointment. I tasted nothing bbq in the burger. The bacon may have had some on it but the burger meat was lost in all the other fixings. They were fresh and provided majority of the flavor. I t was difficult to taste the meat. Appears the patty was very thin and could have been smashed during the cooking. The bun was brioche style and tasted fresh. Reduced to two stars. Unfortunately, within two hours I became sick with lower Gi issues. Food contamination concern.

The food was amazing! The atmosphere and the service were great too. And the prices were very reasonable!

Excellent food and beautiful atmosphere. I'm leaving a three star review because the staff are way too young and inexperienced.

We had breakfast at Nobels on Monday. The service was excellent; the food delicious. The menu very imaginative. We'll be back.

We opened a beautiful aromatic Montepulciano red wine and had a deliciously crisp and perfectly cooked and chilled shrimp cocktail. From there it kind of went downhill. We both ordered a replacement of the house salad with a Caesar salad and it was a $6 up charge.... Which would be ok if it was decidedly different in size or components - but if you look at the picture you see how incredibly tiny this salad was. For the record, we asked for lightly dressed and it was perfect. But worth a $6 up charge? I think not. I ordered the petite portion of the chicken piccata ($17) vs a full portion ($21) and I was definitely ripped off... again look at the pics. Additionally, while the chicken and pasta were perfectly cooked, the seasoning was definitely NOT Italian and NOT piccata but had a weird flavor profile closer to SW USA - not what I expected. My husband ordered the ribeye Medium rare and it came out rare and COLD. He sent it back and it came back lukewarm and grisly. It appeared it was microwaved instead of hitting the skillet. We wanted to dine together so he struggled through it. We've eaten here twice before and were appalled by what we were served this time. We asked to speak with the chef and were told the service manager would come - which she did. But we requested the chef. Jaime came out to speak with us and listened to our input. We SO appreciate him listening. He let us know the ribeye had not been microwaved but hit the grill again. He admitted their piccata is not traditionally seasoned (no lemon flavor). Hopefully they either change the menu or make it more traditional. Chelsea the service manager came out again and comped our meal (which was not necessary because we understand there are profit margins) the owners must manage). As one of the local fine dining establishments, if the owners want to keep that space, they need to make sure they offer value and quality to their customers. Last note - if establishment is going to upcharge for size or substitution, it should reflect the upcharge value. We are grateful for the discussion, the comp, and the willingness to hear what a foodie likes to see. We will give you another shot, and look forward to the opportunity to update this to a five star review instead of two stars

The staff members were very sweet both on the phone and in person. The place was packed when we picked up our food but everyone looked happy and no one was waiting. I will discuss the service, ambiance and the food. My experience with the food was the Caesar Salad, Lasagna, and tastes of food from those at the table. Service was great. Our server was attentive, answered our questions and even brought me some extra pepperoncini when I asked for them. She was pleasant and patient as we pondered our selections. When my adult son asked about what was tap, she brought a taster for him. Across the street from the courthouse, on the square of a town founded in 1809, the restaurant inherited a period building with brick walls. I have been in Italy and I can say that the decorations were authentic. This MAY have been a church in a previous life, but there are a few clues, particularly to loft at the front of the building. A spiral staircase leads to it, about a story and half above the main floor. Closed to visitors, I understand at times it is a live music stage. Food was good - very good, just not good enough to warrant a full 4*s. So here are my picky comments. Lasagna was a large portion and well balanced for flavor. I'm used to pasta, even in lasagna to be more al dente. For the price, there was not enough meat to satisfy my taste buds or wallet. We opted for the family sized Caesar salad, which again, was good. I'm used to more garlic as well as a more flavorful and more abundant dressing. Two pizzas also came to our table and the four diners enjoying them, liked them much. For a wood fired oven, I am more used to a more prominent smoky flavor - from my small taste. Toppings were adequate and looked great on the pie when they came out. Chianti is only available by the bottle. I would have liked a single glass. It could grow on me if I lived or worked in the area. I would not object to going back with my party when we visit, but a 75 minute drive is not worth the trip.

First thing to know: they don't take reservations, so plan to arrive early. But if there's a wait, don't worry, it can actually be part of the experience! On Thursday through Saturday, check out the Waiting Room. Look for the door right next to the main entrance, head upstairs, and you'll find a great bar where you can relax while you wait. We started downstairs at the bar, and our bartender was amazing! She made a fantastic Old Fashioned. The only thing that could have made it better? Clear ice! You know I'm always looking for that! Once we were seated, we started with the Garlic Knots, and WOW, were they good! And here's a little insider tip: don't let them take the bowl when you're finished! There's some incredible garlic butter left in the bottom, and you're going to want that later! We also ordered the Margherita Pizza, and it was sooo good! For our entrees, we tried the Alfredo Lasagna, Baked Tortellini Lasagna, and Chicken Marsala. The Alfredo Lasagna was good, although I was hoping for a little more Parmesan flavor. The Baked Tortellini Lasagna, on the other hand, was fantastic, great flavor and definitely one I'd order again. The Chicken Marsala was also excellent. And whatever you do, get the Bread Service! It's a must-have. And remember that garlic butter I told you to save from the Garlic Knots? Yep... you're going to need it! Of course, you have to save room for dessert. One cannoli, please! And yes, it was the perfect way to finish the meal. The service was amazing, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere made the drive completely worth it. So, what are you waiting for? ROAD TRIP TIME TO EAGLEVILLE! One final hint: watch those speed-limit changes as you get closer to town! Let's just say the city has found a creative way to encourage everyone to slow down. Cheers!
