Located in a quiet small strip mall area of Brentwood suburb, Mediterranean Cuisine is maybe one of the stranger names for a restaurant that one could derive. It is clearly descriptive, at the same time, it's a name of an entire food category translated into a restaurant name. In reality, the restaurant is a mix of Greek and Lebanese influences. The gyro platter is one of the more popular items. The gyro itself is served with a sauce over it and generally enjoyable. The tabbouleh is the real disappointment, parsley is clearly not washed well, so the entire salad is full of crunchy sand. Basically, inedible. The chefs must not have tried it. Lastly, the hummus is ok, but extremely acidic and felt off balance. That might be a matter of taste however. Inside, the establishment is clean and casually decorated. Mediterranean Cuisine is clearly a family run business with kind and pleasant staff working, preparing some solid food, but also does not need some extra attention in the kitchen to make the dishes something worth returning for. read more

My family and I have been getting take out from here for years. With that being said, it has also been years since we have been and it definitely did not disappoint after such a long wait. For take out this time we got the Chicken Gyro Platter and the Lamb Sishkebob Platter. They were both very good! I especially loved the lamb which was so tender and flavorful. The service is always great. They are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is nice with plenty of tables to sit at. I drive 30 min to eat here and it's totally worth it. They offer traditional Greek and Eastern Mediterranean favorites that are prepared perfectly! I got the Med Special which came with lamb gyro grilled with tomatoes, onions, and bell pepper. Plate comes with lentils & rice, yellow rice, side salad, babaganoush, and pita bread. I asked for no rice and more salad / babaganoush. Cash is 5% off; on the menu, it said $11.99 and I was charged almost $14, not sure how that was 5% off. Food was fresh but not very flavorful. Gyro didn't have strong flavor, didn't see any bell pepper or tomato with it. Babaganoush had a bit of a roast-y flavor but definitely not very strong. Everything was just a bit bland. I had some baklava at the Greek Festival once that came close. The stuff I ate in Mykonos, Greece, was really good too. But this ... this is the best! Sometimes, I drive over there just to get the baklava for dessert, it's that good. Most renditions are either too dry, or they're so gooey the phyllo dough gets soggy. But whatever they're doing at Mediterranean Cuisine, it's working! The dough stays crisp on top, chewy and firm but not soggy on the bottom, cinnamony and nutmeggy in the middle. Omg. Great food and value in Brentwood. I've been here several times to grab takeout for dinner or lunch. They seem to have a great system going for takeout, and while the restaurant itself is tucked back in Maryland Farms and looks super unassuming, the parking lot is easy to get in and out of and the service has always been fast. The Gyro meat is delicious, tasty rice, nice hummus, tabbouleh, and spanikopita. For around $10, the gyro plate fills me up and leaves some for leftovers -- and it's leftovers I enjoy eating. Here, it was the first thing I dived into because it was so good! The salad, rice, and lamb were all solid. There was a sauce on the lamb which did not overwhelm the taste of the lamb itself. But I'm a huge tzatziki fan - so I would ask for some of that if I ordered this again. All of the food coming out of the kitchen was mouthwatering.
