Our server, Tya was excellent and all of the staff were friendly and pleasant. Overall it was a very nice experience. One of the guys that was there said he'd eaten the pot roast like 7 times, so it must be really good! The pub is cozy and inviting and the front room has a brick fireplace and is very intimate. When the food arrived, the perch fish and chips were decent, and the hush puppies were good. The Bad: The restaurant is severely bottlenecked by poor operational flow and communication. Upon arrival, we were told we couldn't be seated because the kitchen was 10-15 minutes behind. Once seated, our server immediately announced another kitchen delay. To make matters worse, there was a blatant lack of communication regarding refills; two errors were made, leading to refused food and unnecessary waste--a critical mistake in an industry with such tight profit margins. The Ugly: What I found most aggravating was the inept, uncaring leadership. While the front- and back-of-house staff were running around frantically trying to keep up, the owner was seated in the dining room casually enjoying dinner. A true leader steps in to support their team during a rush. Suggestions for Improvement: Condense the Menu: If the kitchen consistently struggles to keep up with the flow of orders, an expansive menu is hurting you. Shinking it down would improve efficiency. Active Leadership: The staff deserves an actual leader who leads from the front lines when the restaurant is sinking.
